A friend and I ate here this past Saturday night, 3/18.
We both ordered burgers and nothing else; both got really sick within a few hours later. When I called and spoke to Emily her response was "well we serve around a hundred burgers on the weekend, and no one else has complained" - not that I'm surprised by the response even if there were complaints I wasn't expecting her to tell me this. Not looking for compensation or apologies, just don't want anyone else getting sick. This ruined my next 3 days and I don't want it happening to anyone else. Just a heads up.

Seats. View. Cozy atmosphere. Attentive service. And food worth the money. Our bill at 110 Grill for 3 steaks was more than double our bill here.
Be the first to ReplyLovely spot, good service.
Lobster bisque and grilled octopus, excellent. Lobster gnocchi NOT good. It was dry, seasonless and the gnocchi were undercooked, VERY disappointing. Fish fry was excellent, very fresh. Crispy duck was very good, a tad over cooked. All in all, a pretty restaurant with good service and a beautiful view. Just do not order the gnocchi for $46. When I told our very pleasant server about the dish he pointed to the salt and brought out some more drawn butter. :(

Located on the lobby level of the magnificent Beauport Hotel Gloucester, with its charming, warm décor, a relaxed yet upscale ambiance, and delicious food, 1606 provides a stunning Cape Ann dining experience with more to be desired. Chef de cuisine Jon McKechnie elevates & celebrates with a delicious menu filled with pure elegance meshed with an abundance of fragrance, flavors & finesse.Along with an oceanfront deck displaying the gorgeous New England costal views, you simply can't go wrong An absolute pleasure dinning at 1606 Restaurant & Oyster Bar and staying at the beautiful Beauport Hotel. Also, a pleasure to meet Chef Jon who took the time to visit every table to personally show his appreciation. Clam ChowderAbsolutely delicious with the right flavors & textures. Made with fresh locally sourced ingredients, a must try. Salmon CrudoFrom their special Valentine's Day menu, this dish screams freshness beyond measure. Absolutely incredibly cut & delicious salmon serviced with blood orange, fennel, Olive lemon confit & radish. The most exquisite flavor profile. Seared Sea ScallopsWatch out Chef Ramsay, this Scallop dish just may rival yours. In fact, it certainly does. I have spoken! Seared beautifully & served with Root Vegetables Hash, Duet of Leeks, Bacon Lardons, Celery Root Purée and Beurre Rouge. An explosion of delicious flavors and textures. 14oz Dry Aged NY StripCooked beautifully at the perfect temperature of mid-rare, this must be one of the best NY Strips I've ever had. Absolutely glistening & simply seals the deal with an abundance of flavor. Served with Duet of Sunchoke, Foraged Mushrooms, Crispy Shallots & Sauce Au Poivre Croissant SandwichWhen you say breakfast sandwich, this is the ultimate & elevated version. A freshly made toasted croissant, perfectly cooked over easy eggs, spinach, tomato, delicious crispy bacon, smoked cheddar cheese & chipotle aioli. Served with a side of thin cut breakfast potatoes. Not saying we were hungover but if we were, this dish was the cure. Eggs BenedictAbsolutely had to go with the Benedict. The key to a great Benedict is in the hollandaise and Chef Jon McKechnie simply nailed it with richness & flavor. Cage free eggs, north country Canadian bacon, two lightly toasted English muffin served with crispy thin sliced breakfast potatoes. Cornflake Crusted French ToastHoly goodness French Toast Gods!! Heavenly thick slices ofBrioche bread coated in crunchy cornflakes served with a heaping spoonful of warm sweet mascarpone, blueberry compote and sprinkled powdered sugar. An absolute delight and a must try. A special thank you to Chef Jon & his entire staff for delivering the most incredible and romantic Valentine's Day experience to me and my better half. Will be looking forward to our return visit in the near future.

I ate here on my first night visiting Massachusetts a few months ago. The restaurant is located in the gorgeous Beauport Hotel overlooking the ocean. The foods I tried were pretty hit or miss, but the dishes that were a hit were incredible. This restaurant has hands down the best crab cake I've ever had. I can't see how any place could do it better. Another honorable mention to the Brussels sprouts side dish that was packed with flavor and could've been a meal on its own. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the entrees I tried, but not enough so to deter me from going back when I am in town again. The baked haddock was sort of bland, and the lobster and foraged mushroom gnocchi wasn't for me but would be fine for someone who loves mushrooms. The service was fine, and I enjoyed my time here. I would definitely like to return.

This is a consistently good restaurant that gets high marks for delicious creative cuisine in a picturesque setting overlooking the water. Friendly professional service, great cocktails and wine selection. Needless to say the seafood options are many and always on point, swordfish on our last visit was incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly. Lobster bisque, sea scallops, chilled local oysters, and seasonal composed oysters are all regular options on the menu plus plenty of vegetarian options, and usually a duck entree and also chicken, beef, and small bites and sandwiches fill up the extensive menu. Loyal, local following is always a sure sign of a great restaurant. Weekday lunches and dinners are a better choice than the bustling weekends here if there's a choice. On site free parking is somewhat limited during busy season but valet parking is also available.

Quite possibly the rudest waitress and bartender in Gloucester. We called and they said bar and patio tables are first come, first serve. A hostess told us to take some seats and the waitress snarled, "You can't just sit there." She was rude and dismissive until we decided to leave. I had asked about seats at the bar and the bartender said flatly there are six people waiting for those three seats and walked away. Look, I get that they have house rules or whatever. But you don't have to be so utterly disdainful to people who just show up because they heard it has a great view. I will never go back.

The goal of this hotel and restaurant are to be aesthetically pleasing. The buck stops there. Ordered the tuna ceviche which while plated nicely had a caked topping of avocado which seem like it came out it a tub followed by a HEAVY drizzle or Mayo. The flavor was not there. Also ordered the seasonal crudo. The cuts of fish were SO thick it was unappealing to cut and eat. Crudo was topped with citrus segments and micro greens. Not one bit of salt or pepper was on the plate. The wife got the meze platter which sounded and looked good but the falafel was undercooked, the feta was similar to that of a stop and shop level, the tzatziki and baba ganoush portions were anemic. And the naan was simply not naan at all. The servers were friendly and attentive but beyond that for a place on the water the seafood is flavorless. Breakfast the next morning I ordered a typical breakfast the home fries were old and dry. The eggs were cooked to my liking and the sourdough toast was good. The sausage was not bad either. Side note how are you going to be a swanky breakfast place and not have Bloody Mary until 10am Also asked for hot sauce for my breakfast and they had to run into the kitchen and bring back what was obviously from the kitchen pantry a rather large bottle of tobasco sauce. If you like flavor find a different venue.

We started with a beautiful view on the deck , followed by appetizers. I highly recommend the Burrata. Although this is in a fishing community, I had the best bacon cheeseburger!! I think it was called the 1606 burger. Generous size with cheddar, crispy bacon and a wonderful tomato. The roll was really nice too. The baked haddock was also also a big hit in my group. The service was flawless. I think he said his name was Juan.

Attended the 1606 bar on a Sunday evening and it was busy and lively! Tough to get a seat at the bar but once we did we really enjoyed it! Both the chowder and lobster bisque were delicious along with the mussels! A fellow customer bought pistachio profiteroles for the whole side of the bar because he said they were so good we had to try them! I thought the price fit the customer service and quality of the food. It was so good we went back for lunch before going home Clam ChowderLobster Bisque

We visited the 1606 Restaurant in the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester just before Christmas and were very impressed with the service the staff provided - including our server, her team, and the restaurant manager. Our server, Chelsea, was very accommodating and attentive, and she went the extra mile for each request. The restaurant manager, John, made sure that everything was handled perfectly, and he prioritized the positive experiences of the guests. The atmosphere was beautiful and festive and very welcoming to its patrons. We are looking forward to visiting again.

We decided not to dine because of it.The greeter had an unfriendly tone and appeared to be annoyed.Covid protocols here are inconsistent. The front desk staff were all wearing masks yet none of the restaurant and bar employees were. We realize mask wearing is not required for vaccinated individuals in some situations. However, when our unmasked waitress came too close and leaned over our table while speaking we had enough and decided to leave. Given the current requirement of masks whether vaccinated or not in so many public spaces we do not understand the casual approach by this establishment. You probably will not lose business by wearing masks but you certainly did lose it by not wearing them and by not distancing yourselves appropriately.

Beautiful views from huge windows. The bar scene is lively. Our server, Paulie was friendly and efficient and we loved that she never made us feel rushed. Our entrees, Baked Haddock and seared Halibut were fresh and prepared with care. I'd say the Halibut was the winner here, thick cut and very moist with a great sear or the outside. I enjoyed my smooth espresso martini and and my husband really liked his Smoke and Mirrors cocktail. Although we didn't try the raw bar it looked great and lots of guests were enjoying oysters. We look forward to our next visit for sure.

5 stars, I'd say. The setting was certainly nice and very coastal NE, but I wasn't blown away per se. The service was a little rough, especially trying to talk to anyone about wine. And to that point, the wine list was not very good. I thought the oysters were fine, but what I would expect from places to serve on $1 oyster nights, which was a disappointment given the name of the restaurant. The savior of the night/meal, were the scallops. They were perfectly cooked and served with a flavorful celery root puree with this intoxicating corn-business, strewn about.

Very successful event. Passed appetizers, cannolis, and champagne were delish, and service was excellent. We followed up with appetizers at the 1606 Restaurant at the very lovely raw bar. We were extremely disappointed in the very small tasteless chicken wings. The flatbread pizza wasn't as large as we've had in the past. It was ok. Calamari was very good.
