Charleston versus Nantucket
Charleston wins over Nantucket in terms of sophistication in this battle of the two locations of the same eating establishment. Nantucket has a food truck, a fishmarket, an outdoor picnic area and wonderful fresh seafood. We didn't sit down in Charleston's elegant bistro due to a 2-1/2 hour waitlist, but their takeout fried oysters were far more adventurous and embellished than the tasty but plain fried oysters on Nantucket.
Be the first to ReplyBest lobster rolls!
We visited in April 2018 and had the most delicious lobster rolls we’ve ever had (and we’ve had quite a few). Late post but I wanted to remember what this place was called for the next time we’re in Charleston.

The food here is good. The service can change drastically depending on your server. Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you dine here... We come here about every other month. The raw bar selection is the main reason we dine here. But again, it's pretty expensive...
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
My wife and I ate here recently for the first time. We both loved it. The food, and the service were excellent. I had the oysters "Rockefeller" as an appetizer, and for the main course the ceviche. My wife had the halibut. Both were excellent and we'll definitely return. It's a jumping restaurant, so it's not a "nice quiet place". Our table was at the front window and we loved it. We'll definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food, terrible service
I really wanted to give this a good review…. Waited 3 hours to finally get a table, after being sat we waited 15min till we got water then another 15min until we finally ordered our dinner. Lobster roll was really bland, much better places in town. After being served food, our waitress only came by once to ask about desert…. This was after we already waited another 15min after being done with our dinner. To say the least we were extremely underwhelmed with the service and meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for light lunch.
Stopped in for a light lunch before leaving town. Oysters on half-shell were tasty and then the bartender offered a suggestion for small tuna fish dish. A bit pricy, but excellent lunch.

Probably the best oysters in Charleston. Great service at the bar. The calamari was delicious as well as the yellowfin. Go here!

A very enjoyable dinner. Great selection of fresh fish and seafood and really friendly helpful service. I loved my swordfish plate. They also have a great drinks selection.

Oh yes! Absolutely a great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy some of the best oysters. And the dirty martini with oyster brine is a wonderful addition to the fresh seafood
Be the first to Reply2 hour wait. Take staff advice on ordering. Pricy. .
Wait is usually 2 hours. Put your name in and walk around King St shops. True foodie heaven. Try the unique dishes. Crude was excellent. Swordfish pastrami was good - different. Worth the trip. $100 for one app, one sandwich, two tacos (mahi - didn’t like - shrimp was ok).

This was an excellent restaurant to go to. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and would go back again excellent service we truly enjoyed it.

The food was good. The service quite the opposite. Very unwelcoming host. Set the tone for the rest of my experience. There are so many other choices in this beautiful city, do not waste your time to those who do not care wasting yours.
Be the first to ReplyTakes some patience to get in but it's worth the wait!
This place is pretty hard to get in to, so when we put our names in (they don't take reservations) and only had a 25 minute wait so we were thrilled. We walked around a bit but made it back for a great meal! I had (6) oysters as an appetizer, all from Rhode Island, and they were amazing. My wife had the crab salad and really enjoyed it, while my Tuna Tatake was perhaps the best I have ever had. We will be back when we can!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, good service.
We had an excellent lunch here & our wait time was only 10 minutes for seats at the bar. We ordered the big sampler which had 8 each of oysters, clams & shrimp. 3 different sauces came with it & we washed it down with a nice rose. We also each had a shrimp taco, which was delicious!! The whole thing inclusive of tax/tip was $140.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price
Average food, over priced for the quality, they wouldn't take a gift card. Do yourself a favor and don't dine downtown. Go to Folly Beach or Bowen Island.

We loved the atmosphere. We were in a group of 7 people. The raw oysters were excellent, and complimented our drink choices well. The appetizers were great too. I really enjoyed the Tuna tartare offshoot, and the guacomole app. I had the main course grouper, and I loved the presentation and the taste. An excellent experience all around. The drinks were all memorable. We sat in the open air portion of the restaurant, and it was very pleasant. The vibe coming from around the entire restaurant was certainly energetic.
Be the first to ReplyPEI oysters were the best!
Get there early because they don't take reservations--very nice place with excellent oysters and good beer!

This review is related to the 167 Bat around the corner from the restaurant. If it wasn’t enough to pay $16 per cocktail for 4 people the waitress was annoyed that we were not ordering snacks and became uppity. 2 of our party left and we were asked to go to the bar and give up our table for a party. I thought this was out of order and obviously the waitress and manger were more interested in tips rather the customers comfort.

Excellent seafood and cocktails! Was in Charleston for 2 nights and ate here twice. Had most of the menu and loved it all. Great oysters, scallop special was superb, ceviche has some orange in it!!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent variety
What a treat to taste such a variety of fresh fish at 167. Our lunch included oysters from all over the east coast, halibut ceviche and fish tacos - all of which we loved. The bar tenders were fun, informative and made some fabulous drinks. We’ll be back.

I ordered a take-out which is the dozen shrimp (but they only give you 11, why, I don't know). When I got home they only gave me 10! I'm very protective of my shrimp. It's bad enough they don't give yiu the full dozen. So I called to complain and the male attendant said " Well, if you'd like, yiu can come fir the 1 shrimp that was missing." Can you imagine that response? Instead of saying "sorry this happened to you, let me find out who filled your order so it won't happen again"....NO. I dont know where they get these people to work & treat customers that way. I was appauled!

Just the best in Charleston. Great everything- food, service and atmosphere. Daily selection of Oysters from Alabama to PEI. At eight types to sample ranging in size from small to medium, salty or not.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious & Worth the Wait!
There is a wait for this restaurant. Very chic inside and crowded, but the food was delicious and our waiter was wonderful! If you eat late, the line is shorter.

We were seated on the outside patio and enjoyed every minute of our lunch. Out waitress was terrific, and of course the oysters were over the top.
