I wanted to come here for a while and it was everything I expected. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so much. The service was great too. Their outdoor structure is one of the best I have seen. Overall great experience and I hope I can come back soon!
Great Service our Server was awesome. She knew how to treat customers.

4 Charles is a gem of a restaurant.
When you get a reservation, you take it. I had heard about the wonders of 4 Charles for many years but never expected that I would have the chance to eat there. On a whim, I set up a number of Resy alerts and scored a 5pm reservation for 3 on the patio. Yes, you will likely need to eat very early or very late but it's worth it. While I was originally disappointed to get a reservation for the patio, the "outdoor dining" area was seriously impressive and maybe even better than the interior restaurant. The patio is a fully enclosed and heated structure and sophisticatedly decorated with wallpaper and paintings. It is highly unique. As for the food, my favorites were the burger (split it with a friend as an appetizer), the French Dip, the truffle mac & cheese, and the creamed spinach. The Four Charles Punch cocktail was also a star. After agonizing over which prime rib to try - the Infatuation recommended English cut or the waiter recommended Chicago Cut - we settled on the Chicago Cut. Despite these being the restaurant's namesake, I was not as impressed with the prime rib as I was with the other items on the menu. Though, I admit, it seems that prime rib just isn't my preference. I found it to have homogeneous texture and flavor - a slab of roasted soft and chewy beef. The French Dip, on the other hand, the sleeper hit of the evening, featured hot, thinly sliced prime rib, crispy bread, horseradish cream, and a tasty jus to dip in that brought it all together. It was the perfect combination of textures and flavors. As dessert rolled around, I had expected to sample the lemon meringue pie. However, as we had been infatuated with the burger earlier in the meal, we ordered another one instead! No ragrets...but ain't no one need a burger for dessert.Four Charles is a must hit NYC establishment for the burger, French Dip, and sides. My recommendation, unless you know you love it, is to skip the prime rib. You'll save stomach space and money. Set your Resy notifications, assemble a crew of 2-4, and get ready to go!

Easily the best burger and prime rib in new york city, but
Easily the best burger and prime rib in new york city, but that's besides the point. The service here is exquisite. the intimate setting is great, the cocktails amazing and the team is so welcoming. As if having the best meat i've ever had wasn't enough, the experience overall is one you need to have if you are in on the new york city dining scene.?

A phenomenal spot with a fantastic vibe.
As it is named, 4 Charles is indeed located at 4 Charles street. It's got such a nice old New York steakhouse feel. Elegant dark seats with dim lighting. A breakdown of my food and drink recommendations below.Drink: I know this place is known for their old fashioned, BUT I think the best drink is the Penicillin. Atleast try one for your table.Food:1. Shrimp cocktail- great appetizer to start. Save the sauce it comes with. It's a Dijon mustard sauce and it's amazing with everything 2. Steak sandwich- probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. A MUST get3. 4 Charles cut- we got this honestly for the name a little bit. It's delicious, but very fatty. Very sufficiently Feeds four people4. SIDES - get a lot of these. Here are the ones we got-Truffle Mac: delicious and lightly truffley, not too over bearing-Mashed Potatoes: hadn't had these in a while and theirs are nice and garlicky -Elote Corn: AMAZING. Surprising at a steakhouse but I would highly recommend-Creamed Spinach: BEST SIDE hands down in my opinion. A must get.Overall an amazing spot just to try out or save for a special occasion!

We all know this place is poppin'! Honestly, I think getting a *late* night reservation is part of the experience. I got a last minute reservation via Resy for my boyfriend and me, at 11 PM. We entered what felt like a windowless dark room, tufted in oxblood velvet. We ordered the burger with bacon and egg, truffle mac and cheese, ribeye, and creamed spinach. The waiter also kindly gave us a slice of prime rib to try. The burger was undoubtedly the highlight of the meal. Not only was it delicious, but theatrical! I took my phone out when the food was coming. Our server came with white gloves and cut the burger in half, opened it to reveal it steaming, yolk dripping, in front of my camera before he handed me my half; what a memory! The bacon was meaty and melty. The yolk added a level of richness to the burger, like savory custard. And notably, the bun stayed completely intact the entire time we feasted on this burger. I just hate when a bun disintegrates in your hands, but it won't happen here.Everything else was good-ish but definitely cannot beat the burger, for me.

A memorable experience.
Iβve not had a better dinning experience. The food and service were on point. We were able to order quite a few things to share amongst our group off the menu. Everything was delicious. Best burger Iβve ever had in my life. Small and difficult to get a reservation to but worth the efforts.
... Impeccable steak. Wow. I thought I knew what amazing steak was until I tried this place. I was really lucky to have an acquaintance book us a reservation for four, and according to him it was extremely difficult to get one. And I can see why after my experience here at 4 Charles. We ordered a bunch of food and wine, and while it was on the $$$$$ side, it was definitely an experience. Period. This is a steakhouse I would bring my family and loved ones to introduce "the best steakhouse in nyc."

I cannot put into words just how phenomenal this dinner was.
So worth the hype of a month wait. The ambiance, service, food, drinks.... everything was absolutely outstanding. Could not have asked for a better dining experience. We ordered oysters and the burger for an appetizer (definitely split the burger amongst the table, it's heavenly, and I've tried all the "best burger in NYC" spots). Then we shared the 4 Charles prime rib and ribeye steak, with creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and truffle mac and cheese. Just..... spectacular. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

A unique experience that definitely lived up to the hype.
We ordered the burger (as an appetizer), the filet, and the prime rib, with sides of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and fries. I think the burger was perhaps the best that I've ever had-- and the egg and bacon completed the experience. The filet mignon and prime rib were also delicious and cut like butter. My one complaint, and the reason why I am not giving 4 Charles 5 stars, is because the beef and sides were incredibly salty to the point where it was the dominant flavor. High quality beef and sides should not have to be layered with salt for them to taste good.Other than that, the service and atmosphere were awesome, but I am unsure if I would go back.

Everything about this place was worth the month in advance
Everything about this place was worth the month in advance reservation. The reservations are super hard to get but not impossible. I was able to book a resy three times - I finally came on the third reservation bc plans came up to first two times. But anyways, the service here is incredible. We felt welcomed as soon as we stepped through the door and our server sat down next to us and took the time to explain everything on the menu. He also regularly checked up on us. The place is pretty small and dimly lit, which gives it a super exclusive feel. Everything we got on the menu was amazing. My bf and I got the cacio e pepe carbonara pasta, Chicago cut prime rub, elote style corn, creamed spinach, and buttery mashed potatoes to share. The Chicago cut was more than enough for two people because we couldnt even finish it. And to think my bf wanted to get two prime rib entrees each ...The cocktails are expensive but strong. We didn't get the burger here bc we actually had it at Au Cheval in Chicago and unpopular opinion , but we didnt think it was the most amazing burger like everyone else says it is. Sorry but not sorry. I think its a pretty basic burger for $40+ if you add the egg and bacon. It was definitely a pricey meal but we would not hesitate to come back again!

Worth it! Some places are overhyped and some are absolutely deserving of the buzz-- 4 Charles brings it in EVERY way! Atmosphere, service, food- 5 stars all around! Simplicity of a gem salad made magical, a burger cooked to perfection, shrimp cocktail made special and fries- fire! Oh, and martinis with bleu cheese stuffed olives-- went down smooth. This Intimate setting, with great music and the service from Brandon who was engaging and welcoming - not enough good things to say to make for this dining experience. MUST go!

Easily my favorite restaurant in NYC.
Very had to get a reservation but once you're there, everything is perfect. Food is amazing, we ordered the Rib Eye and the Chicago cut, the burger, fries, green beans, lemon meringue, and chocolate pie slice. I want to tell you which item was my favorite but they were all so so good. I also got the Penicillin (cocktail) there which was well made. One of the best parts of our experience was Brendan, our waiter. He was very endearing and sincere. A pleasant, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful waiter.I'll come back as often as my bank account lets me (and as often as I can get a reservation).
One of the best meals I've had in NY. My favorite dish was the prime rib sandwich. If you eat it with the pickled peppers that come on the side, it's such an amazing mix of flavors. The sandwich was perfect.Next, was the Cesar salad. I don't know if it was the mixed in salmon, or something else, but this was delicious!! I would go back just to get this salad to go. The oysters were fun and light. The shrimp was also so good! One of the best grilled shrimps I've had (even better than Spanish tapas). It's not a must have but was delicious The burger was of course amazing. Please add the bacon. Don't eat it separately. The Mac and cheese wasn't worth it. The steak looked amazing but I was so full. I didn't even have a bite, but it looked yummy. Wow.. I had a lot
