A MUST if in HK
I cannot say enough great things about this place. First, the service is impeccable. You never want for anything. The food was amazing (Sea Bass was delicious, and the crusted Tilapia we surprisingly delicious). I also got the banana split for which was unlike any other and I'll dream of it forever. The immediately ask if you're going to a show so they can ensure your on time. I can't imagine visiting NYC ever again without having at least one meal here. Highly recommend!

Great ambience. Cozy and romantic but would prefer different Muzak and less loud. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was prepared with care and truly delicious. Nice menu but not able to substitute or modify which was ultimately fine. Recommend

We dropped in without a reservation and were able to be seated at the bar, but it was on the early side, and it was packed. This place was just outstanding, from the service to the food to the ambience, to the friendly people seated at the bar. This was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life, Mahi Mahi with spinach gruyere ricotta and my husband had the filet mignon with au gratin potatoes and carrots. Amazing. And the scallops appetizer...out of this world. The drinks were excellent, it was just a great evening and a great find.

This restaurant is in a great location in the heart of Hells Kitchen and great for people watching. I've been a few times and my experiences have been mixed. I love sitting outside in summer. And I like the yummy muffins they bring out with brunch - but be careful or you'll fill up too soon. But I've had a couple of so-so food and service experiences. My last brunch looked nice but for instance the sausages were tiny and gristly and wouldn't have looked out of place on a plane. My dining partner was also underwhelmed. Be warned, the indoors area is a cacophony. It's not the place of quite chatter. I feel rushed at 44&X. I went with a friend last time for brunch and we were in and out within 45 mins. We were going to have another coffee but the waiter bought the check as soon as we were done eating - it felt like we weren't wanted so we left. And I'm really frustrated by restaurants putting the total suggested tip for the ENTIRE amount on split bills. We almost fell into that trap and tipped 40 per cent each. I want to like 44 & X but it's fraying around the edges.

Made reservations at 44 & X Hell's Kitchen late after a show. Walked in and was seated right away. Several staff spoke and were all very friendly. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. He gave us suggestions which we took and we’re glad we did. The salmon he recommended was delicious! Drinks and food were all very good! Will definitely eat at 44 & X Hell's Kitchen on out next NYC trip!

I can’t say enough great things about our dinner here! From appetizers, entrees, and desserts it was all fantastic! Service was fabulous, drinks fabulous, and desserts were to die for. Highly recommend!

The food is really delicious and the menu is really different. The food is amazing and the attention too. Just the location is not that nice in the night. Good place in NY!

Be the first to ReplyA Place to be humiliated! Stay away!
They refused to open the accessible for a baby in a stroller and I had to carry the stroller steps up in my arms. My wife, my 18 months old baby and I were put in a small table for 2 people and when we requested a bigger one, we were told it wouldn't be possible because the baby was sleeping and to get a bigger table all the three of us should be able to eat a meal. Also, we were told we couldn't keep our baby stuff with us. When we asked to talk to the manager, the hostess said she was the manager but refused to give us her name. We all left after these minutes of free humiliation. Calling the restaurant a few minutes later, I discovered the name of the hostess who also introduced herself as manager is Emily The staff wear shirts saying "heaven" that should definitely be changed to "Hell"

We chose 44 & X based on its location and positive reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The baby green salad was one of the best salads I've ever had. The dressing was amazing. My husband and I both had different seafood entrees, and we were both very happy with the choices. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we went back for Saturday brunch a couple of days later. I would say we loved the dinner more, but the brunch was also very good. It is a very cute little restaurant with outdoor seating. I would highly recommend to anyone and can't wait to return!

This was our first visit after reading many reviews and it is close to Theater. Our server was very good all foods served hot and fresh. We all had a tough time deciding what to order because they offer a large choice of courses that all sound so good. We have absolutely added this restaurant to our annual go-to list.
Be the first to ReplyGreat to be back
My wife and I came here a number of times pre-COVID and was great to be back last night. Food has remained very good, cocktails are wonderful and the atmosphere outside was wonderful!
Be the first to ReplyAbove average price for decent food in cramped dining room
Been here several times pre-COVID. Still great food, but disappointed in hefty prices (there are more reasonable restaurants nearby) and very close seating inside. So, we decided to eat outdoors as the weather was okay. The host did not attempt to even offer to try to keep the nearby tables empty. Although the restaurant was virtually empty inside from 5 pm to when we left. Not very accommodating for a restaurant that was always top of my list in the neighborhood. Not happy - will try the other nearby restaurants.

Terrific menu, great service, mediocre (at best) food. The dishes aren't well thought out or executed.

WOW, what to say. Everything was perfection, drinks , food, waitstaff and our chat the owner Scott gave us some history of a frequent guest and the unique bar stools. Great experience. We can’t wait to go back ~ The Mrs. Tucker Gals

Another great meal. Been coming here for over 20 years. Still great after all these years. Had the Branzino special over mushroom and asparagus risotto, after a great beet appetizer. Highly recommend!

Our first visit (about 7 years ago) was wonderful. Well, the bar has been raised. Our dinner this time was amazing. We can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and bad tasting yet lively.
Lively place. Courteous but slow and un attentive service. Food is downright bad. Expensive and just not worth it.
Awful tasting fried chicken, worse tasting “maple” syrup, inedible collard greens.
Overpriced. People were having a good time otherwise.
Great atmosphere and appetizer, but just ok entrees
Outside atmosphere very cozy and inviting. Goat cheese and pistachio soufflé' w/asian pears was delicious! The Pear cocktail was also very good and nice wine variety selection by the glass. Everyone was friendly. The reason I gave 3 stars is due to the entrees (which are very expensive) were just ok - the $43 filet was fine, but not to die for (at $43 it should melt in your mouth), the chicken was just ok and more so the $43 mahi-mahi w/golden beets, black truffle risotto and braised haricot vert was bad - the mahi-mahi was fatty and some parts not cooked, my dish did not come with the golden beets and don't think I got the black truffle risotto as it was golden color and had no taste to it. I left more than half on my plate. I would have also said something to our waiter, and although he was nice, he would disappear - we didn't see him after our entrees served and not until everyone finished. I did give him my feedback on my meal and he laughed so I repeated it not sure he understood me and he said will tell the chef. It would have been nice if he didn't charge as I clearly had the majority still on my plate.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Sunday Brunch
A super modern environment filled with warm hospitality and fresh american fare. You will enjoy the attentive service in exciting and bustling Hell’s Kitchen. Don’t miss this charming restaurant where everyone is your host.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent choice for good food!
Excellent ambiance and service. The food was outstanding . Very delicious and big portions! Will come back when in the city.
Be the first to ReplyNice place for brunch in Manhattan, but not if you’re in a hurry
The food here is delicious and the setting is refreshing and quaint. Good people watching as you enjoy a leisurely brunch. However, it can be too leisurely, as we had to wait 40 minutes for our check and there weren’t many folks to ask for the check. The busboys were quick with water refills and I really can’t complain too much as it was a good place for a Sunday afternoon meal.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable Meal, Nice Wine, Will Return
We had an enjoyable meal, great wine, good service in this cute restaurant. We ordered drink and wine to start.
Next a couple of the scallop and lobster appetizers, excellent. I ordered the sea bass, thought it was nice; however I tasted and preferred the tilapia. We enjoyed the gelato assortment for dessert. It was a nice dinner.
Our only gripe was mediocre bread. Perhaps it was day old? If it was fresh they should find a new bakery.
Be prepared to be cold and wait an hour and half for food.
My bf and I are the easiest customers, we’re both former servers & bartenders and understand the craziness that goes on behind the scenes. But we were disappointed with what happened Halloween night while we were dining outdoors. The staff is great but prepared for a circus when it comes to getting your food.
We had ordered cocktails and entrees. We receive the cocktails fast. The entree had still not been received after waiting an 1 hour & 20 minutes. Mind you, the restaurant still has open tables and people seated after us are receiving their food before us. Not one offer of “Hey! Want some more bread to hold you over or another drink?” The server does mention he had seen some of our food and it would be out shortly. More time goes by (about an hour and 20 minutes in) and we bring it up with the server and we ask if we can just get the check since it looks pretty obvious they forgot about our food.
We receive the check and notice the food we’ve been waiting over an hour for is still on the bill. We ask if we can remove it since we never got it. We are told he needs to discuss it with the owner.
After 1 hour and 30 minutes our food arrives. My bf’s meal—a $22 burger is cold. Mine was fine.
The server says the owner won’t comp us for the food. (Understandable, since we now have the food. But also unacceptable that we waited 1 hour & a half in 39 degree weather to support a small business and basically were told,” tough sh** about the wait.) I guess offering a $0.50 bread loaf was just too overboard for them.
This place is not worth the money or your time.
