I am sorry to say that today, Cafe Los Feliz lost a 20+ year neighborhood customer.I have always loved supporting this cafe and was touched by the story of how the owner once worked there and eventually bought it. I have applauded their expansion. However, Cafe Los Feliz may have tipped over. At least for me. My favorite food item was their scones. Though the last several times, they have been inconsistent. Sometimes the recipe tasted different. Sometimes the scones were overbaked. And they are not as generous of a portion -- that was certainly the case today and a couple of previous times. Plus, when I asked to have it heated, it was only on the other side of warm on the outside, not all the way through. What sealed it for me was the customer service. Granted, they were busy. Yet, I was shown where their priorities are, and it is not with the customer. I ordered a decaf latte and had to wait quite sometime before I got it -- along with a chirpy, "I hope your day goes better." Really??First, the woman who took my order forgot to ask for my latte to be made. I had to ask for it when I saw people ordering after me being served first. I got an under-the-breath, "sorry, it was my fault," from the woman who took my order. However, the barista did not then make my latte a priority. She kept serving others and was told that because I ordered a decaf, she did not want to waste their "product" -- meaning a tablespoon or so of caffeinated espresso??? I asked the barista, "you would rather save 'product' and irritate a customer?" The reply, "I would rather not waste product and irritate my boss who pays my bills." If this is how Cafe Los Feliz is now being run, then I will spend my dollars on another local establishment. Final note, you cannot go onto their website without first starting a food order or registering to sign in. So, you cannot just look at the menu. Progress can sometimes be several steps backward, as I feel is the case here.
