Nice place
Very nice restaurant close to the painted ladies area in SF. Nice homemade pasta and delicious pizza! Staff was very nice and quick, we enjoyed our lunch a lot
Be the first to ReplyGreat Italian Pizza!
On a recent trip to visit family back home in San Francisco, I was told of this restaurant and the well made pizzas. What else was there to do but to head to a Mano for some pizza on a Saturday afternoon?!?! The restaurant was buzzing with lively patrons, it luckily the wait wasn’t too long, maybe 15 minutes. The menu was nice, with about 5 or 6 selections for each category. I wanted to try so many dishes, but we had brunch earlier and made this last minute detour for me to try the pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas, the classic Italian Margherita and the Funghi. The dough was airy and well made, the crust thin and held the toppings perfectly well. The coloring of the crusts were perfect. I love every aspect of Italian pizza - from the ingredients to the crust itself. The pasta we ordered was the Squid Ink Gnochetti Sardi. The pasta was good, but a little light in seasoning. But since my stop here was for the pizza, that was where my attention was focused on and they lived up for the hype. The service was good, the atmosphere was very lively, but nice (unless you’re looking for a quiet romantic spot). It’s an open kitchen restaurant with a pasta station where you can watch the different pastas made throughout the day, which adds a nice touch to the atmosphere. I definitely be back for a proper meal next time I’m back in town!

Everyone in our party of seven had smiles on our faces. Our meals were absolutely delicious and the pasta was cooked to perfection! The service was attentive and informative.

a Mano was a tasty treat in Hayes Valley. The food was superb and the service was wonderful. The pasta was delicious and the wine the waiter suggested paired beautifully with it.
Be the first to ReplyVibrant Italian restaurant in the Hayes neighborhood
An up and coming part of town in San Francisco. Not a neighborhood I go too often but now there is a couple blocks of interesting restaurants and shops. This place is hopping and packed on a Sunday night! The drink menu is as big as the food menu. Some fun dishes of appetizers, pasta and pizza. Food is good, not a big portion but filling. The reason for not giving another star is the service, the wait for service was longer than expected even busy, got our drinks but instead of getting our order for appetizers and dinner, the waiter was all over the place. Had to flagged a couple people down before our waiter finally showed up. Didn’t refill our water, just want to know if we want more drinks. Would have tried a couple of the desert but don’t want to deal with the wait. There are so many options in SF, I probably would come again if we happened to be in the area and my friends want to check it out. It won’t be my first choice for recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Restaurant Week Lunch!
This was our first time dining at a Mano, and my spouse and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Restaurant Week menu, which consisted of: salad with heirloom beets, cara cara oranges, wild arugula, red onion, pine nuts, and ricotta; bucatini all’ amatriciana with pancetta and pecorino; and a dessert of buttermilk panna cotta with grapefruit. All were superb. My spouse had the Margherita pizza with added sausage, also delicious. The atmosphere was lively and the service was very pleasant and professional. All in all, this was a really good meal for the price paid. We will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyPasta Ragu was delicious!
The food was very good. The ragu pasta was one of the best we ever had!! Excellent meat,, slowly cooked... generous portion. The salad fresh and crispy. The arancini was nice, but not our favorite. The only problem was that the service was a bit slow. We wanted Parmigiano for the pasta and tried to catch a waiter for about 5 minutes . We succeeded at the end... and again, the food was very good and certainly worth visiting again.
Be the first to ReplyMiserly Wine Pours
The restaurant has delicious pizzas but get ready for very palty wine pours. In my 30 years of living in San Francisco, this was the most miserly amount of wine I have ever seen in a glass. It amounted to about four sips...not even enough to enjoy with just half the pizza.

We love this neighborhood gem. It was even great on a rainy evening (Friday) when we ate in the street parklet with a roof. Salads were crisp and tasty and pasta with sugo was the ultimate comfort food. Service was friendly and cordial. We've been here multiple times and it's always yummy.
Be the first to ReplyPasta Like in Italy
This place is like being at a local eatery in Italy. A great place for lunch. I ordered the bucatini all’ amatriciana which had just the right touch of subtle hot spice flavor to the tomato base sauce. The homemade pasta was perfect. Friend had the kale salad which she enjoyed . We shared the cauliflower appetizer that was absolutely sumptuous - would want one all to myself next time. The portions were just right. We finished eating it all to the last bite; and felt quite full. Service was also very attentive. Will return.

Trendy place but the food and service is so lame. Pizza with no flavours and pasta comes out in a small portion and so boring and medioker. Cocktails we had was also lame. It's sad because the place have potential.
Be the first to ReplySmall Menu But Everything is Delicious
At 5 p.m. on a week night the line was already 20 people deep! They don’t take reservations, and they don’t seat you until everyone in your party has arrived. We ended up at a bar type of table along the windows, which was a bit tight but we were happy to be in out of the rain. We shared the chicories salad and the mushroom pizza and both were excellent. Service was quick and efficient, but we lingered as we finished our bottle of wine and didn’t feel rushed. A Mano is a great choice for an early dinner if you’re attending a symphony or opera performance nearby; just be sure to be there at 5:00 !

We had a lovely quick dinner there: 2 pasta dishes, one with fresh fungi and the other with wild boar sauce, a carafe of house red wine and it came to 60 dollars and some pennies. A very good deal in SF in a vibrant neighbourhood and a place that fills up immediately.
I strongly recommend it.
Excellent house made pasta
Met family up in SF on a weekday night. No reservations accepted - but was able to get a table for 5 immediately at 6:15 (would have had to wait if arrived later). Any of the house maid pastas are great, we also got a pizza which was delicious. Those were the standout dishes for the meal. The rest was good - but not outstanding. Though I did enjoy the Tuscan fried chicken more than my wife did. Italian based wine menu - we just picked a red and went with it. Restaurant does get a bit noisy, so be prepared to talk loud to be heard.
