Unique African Eats
As with many of my recent reviews, this was delivery during COVID 19. I ordered several things, including: fataya, nem, chawarma, and domada yapp. Fataya is like a deep fried empanada type pie. Mine was filled with beef, and came with a very tasty, smoky sauce for dipping. Very flavorful and the sauce had some spice! The nem is like spring rolls filled with beef and other fillings, and came with a very tangy sauce with a unique flavorโIโve never tasted anything like itโin a good way. The chawarma, more often called shawarma, was made with lamb and fries in a wrap. Good attempt, but the lamb tasted overdone to me and had some toughness. Perhaps Iโm just more used to Greek shawarma. The last dish I got, the domada yapp, tomato sauce with lamb, is still in deliberation. The flavor of the sauce and vegetables was very good and spicy. The lamb, however, was left on the bone, and as a personal preference, I do not care for this. Iโm not sure if thatโs how Senegal (which I think is the likely part of Africa this cuisine is from) usually serves lamb of not. Read the menu carefully, as different dishes are only served on certain days. Broad menu with intriguing and unique flavors. Would try again.

Whether dine in or deliver or take out this place is open late. Their chicken brochette is great along with their rice.

Let me start with this location has moved. The correct address is 2267 7th Ave, New York, NY 10027
The place is small but the food OMG amazing. The lamb is delicious with the rice and plantains. I ste my food before I took a picture of my food. Lol.I am definitely coming here again.
Good food, but limited supply-go early
I've been to this place several times when visiting a friend. She and her husband will drive from the Bronx to this place, that's how much they love it. Every time I go, we start with an order of the nem (fried meat turnovers). You should only get these if you like spicy food; they're pretty high on the scale. And I wouldn't recommend eating a whole order (5) on your own, or you might regret it later.
The menu could use a touch-up. On my last visit, since they were out of the two or three dishes I would have ordered, I wound up eating "meat"........which we're pretty sure turned out to be veal shank (I usually avoid veal, as many do). The portion of couscous that came with it was huge, enough for 3-5 people, but it was so bland that I wound up not eating it.
The biggest drawback of this place is that every time I've been there, they are low on a particular menu item, or it's only served on certain days. On the trip when I got the above dish, I had two previous options, but neither were in supply. The line for carry-out can get long quickly, so it helps to check out the menu onlijne to prepare-that way, if you hear "We don't have that today" (I've never been there when this hasn't happened to someone).
One of my favorite places to eat in NYC
I love Senegalese food and so far, Africa Kine has not disappointed. I recommend the grilled fish or the Dibi with salad. Don't forget to get a ginger drink. They have friendly staff but they could use a little customer service training in how to check up on customers and making sure not to forget certain things like water refills, but the food is so good you overlook those minor details.

I went with joyful expectations to this known restaurant in Central Harlem. It used to be in 116 street, now they are located at 134 street and 7th Avenue. We were two for dinner with reservation. We arrived, no one from the staff greeted us or showed us to a table. Service began slow, but the worst part was that one of us got the dish first and the other did not get the dish until 20 minutes late. This is unacceptable. Servers ignored us consistently and were plain rude. For what it is you might as well go elsewhere (next door) or just another type of cuisine. Not worth it, a waste of time and money. Will never go back.
