hole in the wall sushi place.
very small. Didn't feel sanitary.
Be the first to ReplyThere were several hairs throughout my roll.
Pretty disgusting. I told the waitress who apologized and said they would make me a new roll. I asked if I could get a few dollars off instead. She said because her manager was not there, that wasn't an option.

Some of the freshest sushi I've ever had! We had the sushi nigiri, sashimi, and roll! I definitely recommend for anyone in the area!
Be the first to ReplyI stopped by on a whim and sat down.
I had the tuna tartare which was 60% avocado. It was fine taste wise and they added a raw quails egg which was nice. I ordered unagi-Don (eel on rice) and it was 15% salad, 70% rice and 15% bits of burnt and shredded eel. The eel prep and presentation wasn't authentic. The eel was burned and didn't taste good, so I was told I could send it back and get something else. I ordered the dragon roll and that was better. The miso soup was fine. It was like a 6 on the taste scale out of a 10 overall but more like fast food with extreme prices. I got the bill and they charged me $96, even though I sent the eel back. They packed the eel and told me to take it to go. I was shocked. This never happened to me before. I had to argue with them and the waitstaff said it's the managers rules. I ultimately got the eel taken off the bill but none of that was necessary. I'd never go back. There are plenty of tastier options close by. Don't eat here

Fresh and delicious sushi! Went to this quaint restaurant with limited seating for lunch. We ordered several rolls, Mason Roll was a favorite, sushi pieces, miso soap & appetizer. Fish was fresh & melts in your mouth. I recommend you visit for the experience & savory food.

Very small and intimate hole in the wall with great fish options. It was a little pricey -- special doll ran me about 24$ and the udon was 15$, but it was a well done meal. Definitely worth a try if you want some sushi in a pinch.

Be the first to ReplyThe staff was very friendly and the food was good.
However, the price was outrageous. We ordered a dragon roll, unagi, and cucumber salad. Also, one glass of wine. The total with tip $83!The dragon roll was half the size of other sushi restaurants and the unagi was sliced paper thin. The cucumber salad had a few shreds of "crab" .For the price they could have been a little more generous with the portions.

Came with no intentions and found it to be incredibly tasty!

I walked in by myself for dinner and was underwhelmed by the quality of sushi vs the price. Ambience: hole in the wall, small restaurant, maybe 15 seatings tops. Felt pretty clean for a smaller restaurant. 5 seatings at the front. Food: ordered 12 piece nigiri (believe $45) with assortment through tuna, salmon, etc. The chef tries to be creative with different seasonings or toppings on top. However, the rice was not cooked properly, too watery, and more importantly the fish was not fresh. Even though $45 for 12 pieces is not a bad price (more of a value within San Francisco), if I knew quality of fish was going to be subpar, I would have rather gotten a roll which I do not have to taste it so apparently as much or paid lower prices for even more value sushi. After a glass of sake, the 12 piece nigiri and tip, meal for one person ended up costing $70+. Maybe this is the reality of San Francisco prices but I was disappointed with the quality of food I received compared to the price (not low!) I paid.
Be the first to ReplyThere is no lack of great sushi bars on the west coast.
This one is def on the list. If you're looking for a tuna roll go elsewhere. Best thing to do is look at the specials list or just tell the chef to have at it.
Be the first to ReplyVery small place, just 1 Sushi chef and 1 server + 1
Very small place, just 1 Sushi chef and 1 server + 1 kitchen staff. It was full around 15 customers at 6:00pm. This place is too small for comfortably fitting 15 people. And long wait to be served, server is just too busy running, serving foods and cleaning the tables at same time. Fish are fresh, sliced and prepared fairly well; too expensive for the quantity and variety of fishes also poor plating as you can see. Recommend not to order this combination plate; you don't know what you will be getting and can't tell you are getting money worth. Order Nigiri what your know and sashimi separately. And go there earlier or make a reservation; otherwise you have to wait outside cold for a long time even before getting your foods.
Be the first to ReplyQuality sushi, great people! Small little quaint family
Quality sushi, great people! Small little quaint family place with three tables. The fish was very fresh. Very friendly warm people. Fish portion size a little small, but that may be a San Francisco thing or a reaction to the fish prices increasing due to Covid. The fish had excellent flavor. I recommend this place.

This is a small place with just a few tables, but the food is prepared exactly right with high quality fish and high attention to detail. Very attentive service, as well. I would recommend this place highly for someone who really appreciates fantastic sushi that melts in your mouth and pleases the palate.

When you order online, the order does not go through and they don't see it in their system, so when you come in 30 minutes to pick up your order you need to wait additional 25 minutes because the order wasn't received. And every time I hear an apology for this, and every time the situation repeats. If you guys have problems with ordering online why can't you fix it and why do you still accept online orders knowing that the system is screwing up? Why are you confusing people?

Akiko's sushi is perfectly executed! The staff is friendly and one could not ask for better japanese sushi and sashimi! I would go for the chef's specials.
Be the first to ReplyVery cozy and intimate.
The fish just melts in your mouth - SO delicious. I highly recommend getting the omakase (chef picks) or just get rounds of straight nigiri. Always a wait because it is so small and so good - see if you can make a reservation. My favorite spot in the city because it never disappoints.

Warm service, cold sushi THE spot in Union Square for amazing sushi!

Probably one of the better sushi restaurants that I've visited in SF. The salmon sashimi yellowtail roll, and nigiri platter were fresh and delicious, but the unagi donburi and toro special rolls were easily my favorite. I didn't care much for the philadelphia roll (and I would never order that myself), but someone in our party did want it. (this review is over a year old and I am seeing bad reviews now. I hope their quality hasn't been affected by the pandemic, but they were good to me)
Be the first to ReplyNot authentic, Chinese made Japanese food .
Priced very high. Not worth it . Very tiny space , thought was very Japanese style . But when they start to speak Cantonese, and with a huge menu items . I knew won't be good . Ordered 4 items . HOT sake came out warm . It's CALLED HOT SAKE. Not warm Sake .
