The dining room is zen boho like, the food is like I am sitting in Mexico City, and the drinks are unique. Really loved the service here and the food while celebrating my birthday here. That said they have a strict max on how long you can sit at the table which blows when you are with a larger party

This place has some of the best octopus and best drinks I've ever had. This was my first time coming to this spot and I'm so glad I finally stopped by. The waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu and making sure that my peanut allergy was known to the kitchen staff. We had the guac, charred octopus, Taco De tromps, and the Pork Tacos. Just know that everything comes pretty small so you've got to get a few different items to get full. The only reason why I can't give this place five stars is because I absolutely hated the dessert option. It was basically a fried churro type thing with cream but I felt the cream didn't have enough taste and that the fried crispy bits had no substance but that's just me! I'd love to see a few more dessert options for the dairy sensitive people. Other than that amazing, amazing restaurant with great ambience, really dim lighting, and wonderful food.
Be the first to ReplyStylish, modern Mexican fare.
The mole, which happens to be vegan, is complex, savory, amazing. Cocktails are super robust featuring lots of mezcal lime. In addition, their mezcal selection is on point and revelatory. I know the entire US is catching wind of the wonders of mezcal, and this is a fantastic place to experience what mezcal has to offer.Decor is lovely. Bar area is chic, back elevated level and garden both make for cool lounging spaces.

When you go to Aldama it feels like you are in Mexico! And guess what! It's in Brooklyn I wish we were able to get the outdoor seating but it was already filled. The back area is beautiful The food was a tapas feel. Not a bang for your buck kind of restaurant, but good. They give you tortillas in a covered dish to make your own tacos with what you've ordered. I got the Lobster and my friend got the Hen (I couldn't taste hers because peanuts were used)Drink: Get the Mount Fuji It's a refreshing summer drink.Ask to be seated outdoors in nice weather. You won't regret it.
Be the first to ReplyI've been here 3 times in as many months and each time.
Really enjoyed it the first time, yet somehow it has gotten better each time, even despite changing one of the dishes I most enjoyed on the first visit. The food has been outstanding every time. Service has been generally good. Friendly and helpful in most cases, with a few missteps at times. Drinks have also been very good, though the beverage menu is a little narrow and pricey. Prices for the food menu are fair (reasonable) given quality and quanity. My absolute favorite dish is the tostada. I LOVED it when it had pickled daikon and carrot. I was so disappointed when it changed to Persian cucumbers, but it is still delicious. This dish, which I think is vegan, is as good as anything I had the last time I went to 11 Madison Park and paid $300+ for their plant based menu.As for other starters, on my last visit the guacamole could best be described as elevated, both tastier and a little different than your everyday guac. The cecina is also something different and yummy. Both great dishes for sharing.I resisted my friends' desire to get the tacos with a combination of meats, but they were outstanding, and worth the $9 each. As for other meaty dishes, I've gotten the octopus every time, and it is always delightful. The short rib is indulgent but also excellent. The only thing I haven't enjoyed was the duck tamale-like dish. Just didn't work for me. And the vegan mole was like two bites and a pool of sauce--then they were stingy with the tortillas with this dish, so it really didn't make sense, although the flavor was good.We were rushed out when we had a late table one time, even through it was a reservation and we ordered quickly. The pace of food usually seems a little jolty, too fast at time and too slow at others. And we were once served alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks swapped, which could be a serious issue for someone. But the service has been nice and the place is cozy.Highly recommend.

The thing I love most about living in Williamsburg is that when I think I've been to any restaurant worth visiting, I'm proven wrong on every occasion. My friend recommended Aldama when for lunch after we had spent the morning at Domino Park. I hadn't heard of the restaurant but my friend only had glowing things to say about it. We walked about 10 minutes from the park to the restaurant which is located in south Williamsburg. Aldama is a modern Mexican restaurant that's ideal for a special night out. The spot is on the smaller side with a large bar and table seating around that. When it came time to order we decided to get the guacamole as well as an assortment of canasta and trompo tacos which were amazing. We also had the house margarita which was equally exceptional. Come here if you find yourself in the area with a craving for quality Mexican dishes!

Controversial hot take: "New York's Mexican food scene is hella mid." I firmly believed this until I came across @aldama.bk in Williamsburg. This sexy, intimate neighborhood spot is great for a date night or casual dinner with friends, with cocktails that will have you running up the tab as the late-night DJ spins into the wee hours of the evening. Must-haves are the Taco de Trompo, Lobster, and Buรฑelo with Mousse de Cajeta. --------IG: @dinelikeaduchess

Came here for a surprisingly brunch (I didn't know brunch even existed because yelp says closed until 5) but it was a pleasant surprise! Tried out the bottomless brunch - started with the guacamole, for me it was a little spicy, for my partner, not so much ( I don't like spicy) it was still very well flavored, where I was able to enjoy it with a glass of water. I ordered the fried quesadilla and he ordered the Encacahuatadas. For my fried quesadilla I was very on edge it was going to be spicy but it was actually very tasty and flavorful. For him, he ordered the Encacahuatadas, (Rolled tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, cured sausage, peanuts sauce, pico de gallo, cilantro) it was very much enjoyed BUT this would've been perfect if the sauce was on the side. Mimosas were tasty (more champagne than OJ which is. A PLUS) and the margaritas were DELICIOUS! - definitely want to come back here to enjoy a dinner menu
Be the first to ReplyVery cute ambience, good music and nice service.
The food thought is a bit disappointing. Chicken with mole was just sweet and lacked some freshness in all the dishes. Some vegetables would be great. The tacos were tasty but again fresh pineapples would be better than pineapple sauce.

When I first arrived, it looked like a relatively small restaurant and bar from the front, but as we were taken to our table I realized there was more indoor seating in the back as well as an outdoor garden where we were seated. The ambience was really nice, although I do wish they did a bit more to keep mosquitos away. The wait staff was a bit ruder than I would like, not being particularly patient or explanatory when we were having difficulty understanding what to expect from items on the menu. I'm glad we asked how many portions each plate comes with since the menu didn't list it. The tacos de canasta have 3 tacos per plate, but the tacos de trompo only comes with one, so we decided to get 3 orders of it since it would be difficult to split one in thirds. When the drinks came out they were definitely photo-worthy although the taste of my Mount Fuji was just alright. The taco de trompo came out first and was pretty good, although nothing that made it absolutely extraordinary or worth the price tag. Next came out the tacos de canasta which were pretty underwhelming in both taste and texture. Lastly, our Cornish hen came out. It was pretty tiny and honestly did not have much meat and also not much flavor in the mole. Overall, the aesthetics were nice but I've had much tastier Mexican food at a much more affordable price elsewhere. I won't be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is pretty good we had the lobster and chicken.
They drinks were good as well I had a Mt. Fuji similar to a Margarita. Seating outdoor is nice however flies and mosquitos are a bit of a nuisance hence the reason for 4 stars. Overall great vibe and ambience check it out!

Be the first to ReplyTop notch.
I don't usually write reviews, but I can't begin to emphasize how good this meal was start to finish. Everyone who works here-A++++, the food-not just delicious, but filled with integrity, authenticity...the commitment to story.
Be the first to ReplyI came here yesterday for my friends birthday.
I told the waiter that I had a peanut allergy, and he told me the only item we ordered that had peanuts was the guacamole. We ordered a variety of shared plates, including the cornish hen. I ended up having a horrible allergic reaction and had to go to the emergency room. We were supposed to go to a concert that evening that I spent 120 dollars on, but I instead could not go and spent 300 dollars on an emergency room visit. I am very disappointed in this service.

Decided on this place for Cinco de Mayo because I found an article that said the food was good. Made reservations only to still have to wait for about 15-20 minutes after my res time to be seated. Not worth causing a scene but also not desirable.Thankfully I was seated near the backyard which was cute. But I was NOT expecting a truncated menu. There were about 6 different food items TOTAL on the cinco de mayo menu. I had viewed the original menu and was super excited to try some of their dishes--like the ceviche--only to learn that they weren't available. I can totally understand why a smaller menu on a busier day makes sense in terms of return time but there was no warning about this whatsoever. And when I make an actual reservation that includes my email I expect correspondence about special menus, prix-fixes, things like that. And this was a truly tiny menu. That being said both my fried fish tacos and pork belly tacos were tasty. And my mezcal cocktail was decent. But two TINY tacos for $14 is obscene. They were sincerely easy to finish after two bites each. We're talking $3.50 a bite, here. And $8 for a 20 some odd oz bottle of topo Chico. I tipped my server 20% bc he still deserves the wages for his service, but overall, that menu left me feeling robbed. Think about your customers who make ot a point to choose you and support you, next time. Won't be returning.

Frankly I came to try the ASADO!And it was as advertised- Excellent! If you are a carnivore like me that can deal (and don't really like the Porterhouse for 2 option...;) with large piece of red meat-Don't hesitate ! Go for it !For starter to play around they have very good ceviche. And who ever like Mexican alcohol - this is heaven .I drunk the ONLY , though pretty good red (even if it severed chill..)Worth the schlep,Worth the $$$$.

One of the few restaurants I've gone to in the last year that I will return to. The mole is one of the best I've ever had (and I've been to some really excellent ones in Mexico City, including ones that were described in a well-known program Netflix), but I could probably have done without some of the fried things, like the shrimp - they weren't really that interesting nor unique. Guacamole was also obviously homeade and presentation very nice, but also flavorwise, just meh (perhaps I just like alot of onion/garlic flavor in mine.Expect to pay mucho for a top-notch selection of mezcals.

This incredible meal is definitely one of the top restaurants in Williamsburg. Food highlights: Taco de Trompo, Hamachi and Tacos de canasta. The setting and music were perfect and the staff was helpful and informative.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a weeknight dinner.
We didn't have a reservation and needed to wait a bit, so we walked over to a bar nearby. We came back a little earlier than they anticipated and were able to seat us when we returned. One of the first dinners I've had where inflation really stood out as pricing came in at over $100 per person with tax and tip included. It's a bit difficult for me to evaluate the value of the meal as I'm not sure how much similar restaurants are charging nearby as places are still working out pricing.Cost aside, we had a great meal. Service was super. Their water glasses were a bit small but the staff made sure we were always topped off. Our waiter was very attentive to and quite helpful on making a recommendation to me.We shared the guacamole to start. They plated it on some oil which added an interest savory and umami element to the guac. It was served with house fried whole tortillas. Next we had the taco de trompo which I'd call a fully loaded al pastor taco. It was delicious too.For drinks, I had a serving of La Medida Mezcal. I believe it was made with Tobache agave. It was fantastic. Small batch mezcal that the waiter was super excited about. It had a fantastically long finish. It's a wonderful sipper. Served traditional with spiced orange wedges in a small ceramic dipping cup.For our main course, we shared the vegan mole and the Ribeye steak. Mole was pretty black bean forward. It was made with black truffles but didn't have the intensity I was expecting from the truffles. Steak was cooked to the requested medium rare. I believe it was cooked sous vide and then seared. It was served with perfectly charred pearl onions and a charred cheese. Super savory and delicious dish. I probably could have eaten a sack of those onions. For dessert, we had this crispy, fried "doughnut" ย with cajeta which was a sweet and light cream with caramel flavor similar to dulce de leche. Definitely worth a try. ย All in all, we had a very nice experience here.

Some of the food was a hit or miss, so I wouldn't necessarily come solely for the food, but I think the ambiance + decent enough food is reason to check this place out. Service: had a reservation, but the party before us ended up taking longer to leave. We ended up having to wait a half hour to be seated, which wasn't ideal. However, the manager was really apologetic and paid for our first round of drinks. Because of that, I think the service was really good.Ambiance: I would come back solely for the ambiance. It's definitely a vibe in the best possible way. You walk in and it's super unassuming - very low ceilings and teeny tiny. However, there's a door partly through the kitchen, a small flight of stairs you walk up and the whole vibe is transformed. It's such a wonderful surprise! There's also a large outdoor area that looks like it'll be a lot of fun in warmer weather. Food: this was hit or miss for me. I ordered:-Guacamole: very fresh, but way under seasoned. -Cecina: I've never had something like this before. Super super thin and crunchy. I thought it was really unique!-Taco de Trompo: a must. This was the best thing I ate. Really really flavorful. -Sope de Costilla: this was good too. -Asado: definitely good to share. This was actually split amongst four people. I personally didn't love this, but I know others did enjoy. I thought it was a bit under seasoned and the cheese had zero flavor.
