Rude
Waitress was very brusque all through the meal and not just to us. When I refused to leave a tip she threw a strop. Very expensive.
Be the first to ReplyNoisy restaurant with slow service
This is my third and last visit to the restaurant. We were welcomed when we arrived for a 9:00 pm dinner on a Friday night. There was only a short wait for a table, but the wait between getting the menu and ordering was at least 25 minutes. They seemed very disorganized. After the food arrived, I was very disappointed to receive sea scallops that were very small in size and cool to the touch after they had made an issue of bringing very hot plates to the table. I ate them without making a fuss as I did not want to embarrass my host. The desserts were quite limited and I had the vanilla ice cream with coffee and praline. The female server was very unpleasant as my seat was in a corner and hard to deliver food to.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and unimaginative.
Claustrophobic, way overpriced, unappetising!!! Food was very ordinary and very few choices. The only good thing here was the wine list. We were recommended to have dinner here but after only having a share main course & very small cheese plate to share as well, the bill of €275 simply doesn't justify it's "reputation".
Be the first to ReplyA landmark restaurant made better. Insanely delicious.
This is one of the best old school French restaurants in Paris with phenomenal service and food. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience. We have been going there for 20 years and were a bit disappointed when it was taken over by Alain Ducasse. Tonight’s dinner was nostalgic, delicious and the service with Aisha (sp) as our server was impeccable. It is not inexpensive, but worth every penny. The entire staff from the Maitre D’ to the sommelier and busser were so professional, yet fun, it really enhanced our evening. I am still thinking about the food even though I am absolutely stuffed. Well done, Alain Ducasse. You kept this landmark in its original, but improved form.
Be the first to ReplyMichellin prices standard food. Dissapointed.
We were here for their Valentines Menu: a four steps with four wines, EUR 180 per person. I believe it didn't worth it. The Maitre (?) was correct, but far from welcoming. We were seated in a table against a column and near other table, while there was other places available. I ask for a change and they were fast to re-accommodate us. There was nothing wrong with the food made by the young chef: I believe she execute it correctly. It is just that the food is not memorable and Im quite convinced that in the entree, the plate left withut they really tasting it: the elements of the dish were good, but they were all disharmonized and kind of not making sense. Later, the fish and the tenderloin with foi gras and truffles were, again correct, but will not be remembered. The wine selection was good, except for a tired Chablis that did not taste like Chablis but more like supermarket white wine, and the somehow strange match of heavy liquor with the desert. The pace of the serving is on the border of the annoyance, as the feeling was that the crew just want to get done and close the restaurant. Nothing was really bad. But nothing was really good. And for that price and with the Alain Ducasse name on it, the final result just does not worth it. Use your hard earned EUR 400 somewhere else when in Paris.

Great French bistro style restaurant. Efficient staff and fast service. Great atmosphere and good menu selection. We were there for lunch and will be back.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible!
Don’t be fooled by the Alain Ducasse name. Our meal was terrible. First the waiter was unfriendly bordering on rude. Second and more importantly the food was really mediocre. Don’t go.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid - over hyped and over priced
Oh dear, how sad. I am sure Allard was a fine establishment in its day, but the owners have clearly decided to 'sell out' and go for the tourist trade who will almost certainly never return. I guess it must be listed in some US travel guide because virtually every voice we heard while dining there was American. I just hope they do not go home thinking that all 'fine dining' Parisian restaurants are like Allard. Sadly, the menu matches the decor and attempts to deliver a Disney styled version of what French food and restaurants are like. The very limited choice of dishes reflects an 'Oh la la' version of what Paris might have been like fifty years ago. Even worse, they are poorly sourced, prepared and presented. The only positive I can highlight was the sommelier who served us - knowledgable, charming and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, as always
Just went there. Every time I go is outstanding. We had the crab cakes the duck and cheese. The service and the attention was flawless, well done. I am from America and this is my 7th time in Allard, it never fails. Good Job !!
Be the first to ReplyOMG! How????
Very poor indeed. Foolishly went with a friend’s recommendation even after reading the TA reviews. Whilst the food was acceptable (I struggled to type that) the eye watering cost of it and the wine made it an appalling experience! €60 for a carafe of very mediocre wine. Really, really don’t book this. I’m appalled that it’s even open. A crime in a city of numerous good restaurants. You can do better. Stay home, order any takeaway and open a decent bottle of wine. Should mention our waiter from Brazil was adorable. He needs to move on quickly!!!!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced tourist trap resting on its past glory.
On the positives, the staff was very nice. On the negatives, this was the most expensive meal we had in Paris and the worst. The menu is limited and has dusty tourist trap recipes like frog legs and escargot, but very little that imaginative. It is not very kid friendly (unless your kids like sweetbreads or fish) because the menu is so limited. So we had to order the chicken for two which was 88 euros for the kids. I can roast a better chicken. Hell colonel sanders can too. It was dry and not seasoned well. The 28 Euro pate was awful. Just an all around disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyBig reputation and Price, just ok food
The place has a big reputation for chicken so we ordered the chicken with other plates. Comments were that chicken was dry and very expensive. 88 Euro for a chicken and veggies or potato are extra. Decoration will remind you of Grandma's House.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Experience!
We dined at Allard again and had a great evening. The staff were friendly, sufficiently attentive and knowledgable about the menu. The sommelier provided an excellent recommendation to complement our meal - we had the asparagus followed by the chicken. Dessert of profiteroles along with strawberry & rhubarb cake was perfect. We'll be going back soon...

great, charming french bistro. 1st restaurant we ate at in paris so a little nervous about everything. the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful with ordering. the food was tremendous. the sommelier was awesome. snails for the first time - delicious. the duck was out of this world. highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyCharming bistro in St Germain area with good food
The food and service are totally fine at this historic establishment…family has been going here for decades and this is the main reason our family returns. The decor is very charming. There may be better places for bistro fare in Paris but if you are in the St Germain area, this place will suffice.

Except for the visually distinguishing installation of a ceiling-dominating air filtration system for Covid, Allard moves into its 8th decade pretty much unchanged. Ducasse Group management is well established. It surely lacks the soul of a chef-owner bistro, but in Paris, particularly, chef in the kitchen, wife managing the front is a disappearing model. Clientele pretty much pre-Covid, many tourists, multiple nationalities. Compact, traditional bistro menu with concessions to less intrepid guests, except for the extraordinary roast chicken for two, at the high margin price of 88€., surely the most popular plate. With a unique butternut squash vegetable and soup, and pigs feet, chocolate mousse and crème caramel, a fine meal served with smiles. Wines by carafe.
