One of the best ever tried
I loved. One of the best I've ever tried in my life. Fantastic quality. The best fondant au chocolat I've tried in my life
Be the first to ReplyRun, don’t walk to Amanda’s when in Hoboken!
Last night we met friends at Amanda’s in Hoboken for dinner and what a wonderful night it was. Upon entering, you’ll first notice that this restaurant is very beautiful, but not stuffy. There were large groups of friends, laughing and enjoying themselves, as well as tables of two people having a nice romantic dinner on a Saturday night. The real treat, however, begins when the food arrives. My short ribs over mashed potatoes were so tender that I never picked up my knife and boy, were they delicious. My wife had the grilled salmon, and she said it was the best she ever had. Our friends enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana and the seafood dish, and we all practically licked our plates clean. When at Amanda’s, you will certainly see Juan visiting every table. He returned several times to ask how everything was. He may just be the most gracious restaurant owner you will ever meet, and he will proudly tell you the history of Amanda’s. Upon Juan’s recommendation we shared two desserts, the Apple strudel and the Argentinian sundae. Both were great and my wife said the strudel was also the best she ever had. If you’re lucky, on the way out, Juan will point out his awesome paintings as he is also an excellent artist. Thank you, Juan, for a marvelous evening. If you do happen to dine at Amanda’s, you will probably do like we did and make your next reservation before leaving that night.

First let me say that we LOVE this restaurant and have been here MANY times over the past 20 years, including two private parties in the downstairs room. This time I made a reservation way ahead and asked to be seated in the room with the fireplace because it was my husband's birthday. Not only were we not seated in the room with the fireplace, they completely ignored the fact that it was my husband's birthday!! We witnessed candles on other people's desserts for birthdays and the band played Happy Birthday! Not for us. It's going to take a while before we return.

I went out to Amanda's for dinner with my family, and we were not at all disappointed. The service, ambiance, and food were excellent and we had an enjoyable evening. They had live music which was very nice, and the staff was accommodating. The empandas were so delicious! Highly recommend.

My husband and I dined at Amanda’s in Hoboken for the first time and requested a window seat in advance when we made the reservation. When we arrived, the hostess indicated that the window seats were only for parties of three or four. No problem at all until shortly after we were seated a couple (party of 2) was seated at a window seat. Being the only African-Americans in the restaurant at the time and to see a white couple enter in and be seated at a table we were told we couldn’t have access to, was very insulting as well as highly unprofessional. We asked the hostess why they were able to be seated at the window seating we were denied access to and she initially lied and said they were a party of three but only two people arrived. There were clearly two pre set menus at the table prior to the couple arriving. When we spoke to the manager, he came clean and said that the two diners were regulars and always sit by the window every week. This whole situation could have been avoided if they were just honest in the first place. My husband and I dine out multiple times a week but this whole dining experience at Amanda’s in Hoboken felt very awkward and discriminatory. To add insult to injury, the next day I received an email indicating that the restaurant cancelled our previous night’s reservation. Even though we clearly checked in and dined at the restaurant. We would have chalked things off as a bad dining experience at Amanda’s but when they deleted our reservation so that we couldn’t leave a review in OpenTable. That was just another example of their unacceptable and unprofessional actions. We had to appeal to OpenTable in order to reinstate our reservation and receive our points. As for courtesy and integrity 0/10. As for the food, it was slightly above average 6/10. As for our server, he had poor communication skills, very little eye contact and could use additional training in fine dining customer service 3/10. The most enjoyable part of our dining experience was the live entertainment and the young lady pouring the water. We’ve decided not to return or recommend this establishment. It’s just too many great restaurants in Hoboken to be subjected to awkward and subpar service.
Be the first to ReplyBest Restaurant in Hoboken
Amanda's has been my go-to restaurant in Hoboken for years. I visit Hoboken every couple of years to see family and have dinner at Amanda's every visit and am never disappointed. The service is wonderful, always very friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Love the live music on the weekends. The best part is the food. From classic Italian- eggplant parmigiana to chicken cutlet- to the touches of Argentina- empanadas & sausages- the food is always excellent.

My fiancé and I went for dinner on a Saturday night and even though the restaurant was pretty busy, the service was quick, friendly and attentive. Our favorite dish was grilled chicken thighs with red chimichurri. Also loved the apple strudel for dessert. But the best part of the visit was the wonderful live music which I’m told they have every day. Don’t forget to check out the custom artwork throughout the charming dining rooms, painted by the owner!

My family and I recently had brunch at Amanda’s on a Saturday. Everything was delicious! The steak and eggs were cooked perfectly. The bloody mary was so good. My son has some food allergies and they were able to accommodate his needs. The service was exceptional, everyone was very attentive. Will definitely come back.

Not the same as it was a before the change of ownership. I know the pandemic has wreaked havoc on the restaurant industry but there were just some simple things that could have improved this rating: The menu seems quite uninspired; nothing among the entrees stands out as ‘I have to try this’. And then there is preparation: I ordered the pork chop that was so tough and dry that I literally had to fight it with my serrated knife to cut portions off. Also little touches like no bread being offered, the first time I’ve ever ordered a Manhattan that came without a cherry, and all the staff wearing tee-shirts although no complaints about the service. Again, other than the lack of interesting menu selections and a very dry pork chop, a few little changes would go a long way.

It’s a nice setting, been going here on and off for 10 years.
Think the owner has sold ( he owned Elysian too)
Shame!
I had goats cheese and mushroom omelette, hardly any cheese on it.
Very dull, they only do breakfast potatoes nothing else!
They were meh!
My friend had eggs Benedict asked for her eggs medium not runny, she got two fried eggs!
Waitress had difficulty understanding me.
Won’t be rushing back.
Shame
The music was nice ( a man on a keyboard)
lived up to its reputation and more!
I sat outside, where I was promptly greeted by a very nice gentleman who turned out to be the manager. From the minute I walked in, every word was so gentle, not pushy, great recommendations... His wine choice was right on, so much so, that I took a bottle home. The polenta was so good, and with the hearts of palm salad, dinner was great. For dessert, the apple struddle was the way I like it..... simple, warm, nothing fancy,,,,, just good and traditional. I stepped inside the restaurant for a few minutes, where they had lovely music playing, and it was not crowded at all. This is one to come back to!!!!! Overall. it was such a great dining experience... best in hoboken so far!
Be the first to Replygood sit-down Hoboken restaurant, also with some outdoor seating available.
Some excellent dinner items at this restaurant include the sirloin steak, the short ribs, and the seafood tagliatelle (shrimp, mussels, and bits of salmon). They also have a house specialty - Argentinian empanadas - filled with either beef, chicken, or spinach. For dessert you'll have a tough choice to consider - from coconut flan to crepe of the day to dulce de leche pie to apple strudel to even flourless chocolate cake, as well as ice cream. The atmosphere is very nice, and they also offer indoor/outdoor covered seating.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dining experience!
We were a party of seven when we dined at Amanda’s. And it was delightful in every way. As it was a first meeting for some of us, we didn’t want to be near the live music, so we were seated in our own adorable room at the rear of the restaurant. It was perfect for the occasion! And so was the food from the sophisticated menu! Everyone loved their meals. I had the soup of the day (a terrific sausage and barley done in chicken stock) and the chicken cutlet Napolitana over penne, with a terrific apple strudel for dessert. Delicious! Jack, our server, was wonderfully attentive and even took photos of us to commemorate our special dinner. We were very happy to have tried Amanda’s!

I've lived in Hoboken for 22 years and been to Amanda's only three times. Each time it's been kind of disappointing, though before tonight it was just that nothing was all that exciting. Brunch here is probably your best bet based on my limited experience.
Tonight my wife and I went and sat in the streatery area. Some restaurants have made an effort to make these areas resemble the restaurant. Amanda's did not, it's just a bunch of tables in a corral. That's not really a big deal but it speaks to effort.
We sat down and made menu choices. My wife and I got appetizers and two regular dishes. Our waitress didn't mention any specials. My Caesar salad was supposed to have bruschetta croutons but they were just croutons out of a box. Somehow my wife got both the polenta with mushrooms and a second mushroom appetizer despite only ordering the polenta.
That was bad enough, but not as bad as hearing the specials read to a nearby table as we were waiting. Wait though, that wasn't the worst part. We were served our appetizers and main dishes AT THE SAME TIME. I ate my pedestrian salad after my main dish because the main was hot, but my wife ate the appetizer first and just settled for eating the second half of her main dish cold. It's hard to eat fast enough to enjoy both parts of your meal when they're served at the same time.
It's also a relatively small thing, but if you're a supposedly high-end restaurant you can do better than a wait staff wearing t-shirts and sweatshirts.
It's just too bad, because the atmosphere inside Amanda's is very good and it's on our street. It'll be a while before we try it again though given the other excellent options in town.
Easter Brunch
The brunch menu was full of excellent choices, and was the bevie list.
The Eggs Benedict was the best I’ve had in a very long time, along with the home fries. Everyone enjoyed their food and we weren’t rushed.
The Bloddy’s hit the spot. Next time we have to eat inside! All good.
What an absolute gem of a place!
Arrived off the daytime flight from London and checked in to the Sheraton for one night.
Made the right choice to go out and find dinner rather than crash face down as the jet lag started to take hold...rather like man flu...
Looked on here and found this place, I was greeted superbly when I arrived and shown to a table in the lovely decorated Amanda’s restaurant. Busy on a Saturday night at 9:30pm
The soup to start was insane, I normally don’t do soup but lentil and sausage was the pull for me.
Then I had the short rib, with garlic and black truffle gnocchi which was simply amazing....I mean really good!
Big shout out to the staff, super attentive and my waitress Amanda (no she doesn’t own the place) was the epitome of customer service...
Highly recommend for brunch
We went to Saturday brunch here. The menu looked good and it was reasonably priced. We were running late and called that we would be late. They could not have been nicer about it. When we got there, we couldn't find parking. They informed me of the discounted parking at a lot nearby and they held our table overall for 30+ minutes. So nice. The food was delicious. We had crab cakes with poached egg, French toast, lemon-pancakes and an omelette. All were tasty and nicely presented. No rushing you and the staff was very attentive. Overall, excellent brunch and close to the Promenade to walk it off.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Dinner
We went here with a group for a quick dinner and I think the experience would be better for a couple and a longer dinner. That being said the food was excellent. Service was so so but the decor was lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyA relaxing, delighful brunch!!
My daughter and son-in-law wanted to take both sets of parents to Amanda's for brunch. What a really lovely experience! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious!
Our server, Brian H, was very attentive and was knowledgeable concerning the food and its preparation. I had the Jonah Crab Cakes which were served with poached eggs, home fries and salad. My husband had the Lumberjack Omelette which he said was very good. Everyone in our party was extremely pleased with their meals. The drinks were also made well - Bloody Mary, Bellini, The 908.
Next time we're in Hoboken, we'll certainly want to go back for another outstanding meal!
