Steak of the highest quality
BOOOOOM!!!! what a place - if you are going to visit NYC you are probably going to have at least 1 blow out meal - and if you like steak then this place is fab. bone marrow to start, main... 40oz porterhouse cooked to absolute perfection, flambéed at the table, multiple sides and dessert. a bottle of wine and the most theatrical Old fashioned cocktails we had (maple board smoked with flame gun, glass placed upside down trapping the smoke, cocktail made on the side and poured in given smokey notes to a deep drink. none of it cheap $$$$ but was our special meal and was worth every cent

Not my first visit to the Midtown location, and won't be my last. The service is very good and the food is excellent. Bar gets crazy, but the restaurant is more relaxed, with great decor. Currently, they have one of the best restaurant week menus.

Very expensive, but in line with other New York steak houses; very good steak, but sides are overpriced.
Be the first to ReplyWay too noisy
Although the steaks were mostly quite good (but had a price - as expected), the noise levels at the restaurant and bar were almost unbearable. The restaurant setting was quite solid, and bourgeois, but the tables were arranged too tightly. Our waiter had to shout at us, and a conversation at the table was impossible. This visit was unfortunately not a very pleasant experience.

American steakhouse when it is best
We had a full dinner at the restaurant. A super dry aged ribeye was in focus. Good US wines by the glass.Service and ambience was super as well. The price was good for a well prepared dinner.

When you know you know and I instantly knew this was going to be a fantastic dinner. Peter and his team took amazing care of us, the steaks were cooked to perfection, excellent sides and the comfort level of the seating the best. Nothing makes dinner better than a quality chair :) yup!!
Steak dinner
Ambience is excellent, very comfortable and friendly with style. The wines are great and the steaks delicious. The bacon special appetizer didn’t really hit me but the shrimp one was amazing. The spinach side dish was great and so was the hanger steak my wife enjoyed and the ribeye was good. Unfortunately the iron chef wasn’t in the house today. Great experience but the waiter was probably new

I came all the way from Chicago to experience the most amazing city in the world.
We chose to eat at The American cut which is a midtown steakhouse, with a very casual vibe in a cozy and candlelight environment.
It’s a steak house so the menu is pretty much expected. My only surprise is the lack of veggies to have as side options. Salads are limited but to my surprise they have a kosher steak ( pricey AF as expected) but always happy to see the option.
Our waiter so far has cut his tip on half by being in a hurry once he heard we came for the prefix menu of the New York City restaurant week. Why give a bad impression when this is the perfect opportunity to reach new consumers that will have never step a foot on this place?
The appetizer took 22 minutes to be served, it was a yellowtail with pico de Gallo, it felt bland, not as flavorful. Fish taste too “fishy” it could have been more tasteful.
The lettuce wedge tomato had a little much blue cheese but over all really good. I wouldn’t order it again but was definitely better than the yellowtail.
From the appetizer to the main took 27 minutes
The filet Mignon was good, small but good. Cauliflower side was a little too salty but tasty.
Would I come back to this place? No. Definitely no, New York having so many restaurants. I wouldn’t come back nor recommend to anyone.
