Not what we expect of 3 star restaurant
My wife is vegetarian and i am highly allergic to all kind of sea food, so we send a e-mail before hand with the requirements. At was promised that we get a special prepared menu for us. My menu was outstanding but the vegetarian menu was the same food what i get served without the protein. Is this special prepared i don't think so?? The best think then they charged the same price for less food. How is it possible you get 3 STARS and not get a vegetarian dinner right. We were looking forward to this dinner for a long time, but came out very disappointed.

Before you fan boys and girls come at me, I have eaten at my share of Michelin starred restaurants. Even if I hadn't, my taste buds are entitled to their opinions. First the waitstaff. All well-trained and a class of their own. Except the Maitre D/headwaiter. He was wearing a different uniform and the only one making non-recommendation recommendations, thus my assumption. He said he had no recommendations but the pigeon was "really something special for the chef." Okay then, I went with the My Solidarity menu which had the pigeon. For all the tables that came in after, he mentioned nothing about how special the pigeon was. He talked at length about Maibock, how for only one month this hunting thing was allowed, and that's where they got their venison and it was only for one month. So everyone else got the New Discovery menu, more or less. I eavesdropped, what else was I to do, I was by myself. I regret that he did not give me the Maibock spiel. The food was mostly good, not disappointing, but my socks stayed on. Then came the pigeon. It was as if someone had peeled the poor bird off of a windshield, cut out a slice and its heart, and served them in a bath of salt water. Bath of salt water is a kind way of describing it. When the Maitre D said that it was special for the chef, did he mean that the chef washed his feet and special parts in the broth? The dish was singularly the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. It was gross but being a trouper who does not believing in wasting food, I ate it all. In retrospect, it was a traumatizing experience and I should not have forced myself to eat it. I think the headwaiter dude definitely knew that the pigeon was not up to par, and thus he only recommended it to me of all the people who were seated there around the same time as I was. Why? Why? Why? Dessert was definitely an upgrade from the rest. The chef came out and talked to every table except me. I found this a bit odd. But then I had to remind myself, I was the odd one among all the guests there. I know many people before me had fought for a place at the lunch counter so to speak. I don't want to patronize any place that does not want me to be customer. In fair summary: Dessert: 5 stars Food (except the pigeon): 4 stars Pigeon: Negative 5 stars MaitreD: Negative 5 stars (if you can treat all your paying customers the same, then you shouldn't be in the service industry)

Very good dinner in the center of Merano. We both took pasta ans sea food. Also the outdoor seats are nice besides the urban gardening.

Be the first to ReplyGood but expected a bit more from Michelin Stars
The presentation, atmosphere, and service were all excellent, as expected. But for the highest quality 3 Michelin Star cuisine we expected more. Only two courses were truly superb, the sole and the Norway Lobster. The rest looked like works of art but the taste explosions were missing. We have eaten at 1 Michelin Star restaurants before that had better and more creative taste. We also prefer the Mediterranean and Seafood cuisine and this menu was more in the direction of German and French. I was only able to upload 10 pictures so the 3 worst did not get uploaded: cheese and last two desserts which were only ok besides the truffle cheese.

It was my b-day dinner and everything was just perfect, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff was very welcoming since the very beginning and throughout the whole evening. The wine list is not huge though its very well set and im sure everyone can find whatever he wants to and doesn't have to spend an hour just by reading it. The food was amazing, every single course - there is no need to go thru all the courses and pick some highlights as it was all outstanding and you have to experience it yourself rather than just read about it. We had the 9course tasting menu. I like the fact that Sven Elverfeld was often on the floor chatting with people. Thank you guys!

The criterion for winning three Michelin stars is "worth a trip", and this restaurant definitely fits the bill. The food is exquisite without being over-the-top complicated, delicate and innovative. The service is flawless, friendly and unobtrusive. The wine accompaniment suggested for the multi-course menu was perfect. In all an extraordinary experience.
