Fantastic experience
Both the food and service were exceptional. It was my second visit to Asanebo and my expectations were very high, I was not disappointed. My family guests were equally impressed. Thank you.

I was a guest, so didn’t see the bill. I can tell you the place is expensive. I will also tell you I was floored with how good the service was, some of the best I’ve experienced. It seemed there was more than one person to help at our table. The staff was not hovering, but there for any possible need. The food was super fresh, really tasty, beautifully presented and there were some really interesting fusion dishes.
Be the first to ReplyThe Food is the Star Here
Asanebo Restaurant in Studio City has some of the most authentic sushi in the area. The restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall on the corner of Radford and Ventura Blvd., and the décor is nothing special, but the food is the star here (along with some random celebrities you might recognize).
They have an outside patio as well, and that is where my partner and I decided to sit.
If you are expecting cheap prices, you may be disappointed as the food here is really special, and – as the saying goes – you get what you pay for.
The service was attentive and not overbearing. The house Sake was really smooth and they pour the glass until it overflows into the small plate below.
The sushi selection is wide and a little eclectic. From Albacore to Yellowtail along with Blue Fin Tuna, Orange Clam, Live Sweet Shrimp, Salmon, Tamago and my personal favorite: Wagyu beef. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll selection - one of the best rolls I have ever had - and the Yellowtail.
From the House Signature menu we ordered the following:
• Toro Sashimi - Blue Fin Tuna Belly Sashimi
• SSS - Salmon Sashimi / Sweet Onion / Jalapeno / Cucumber / Arugula / Red Radish / Caviar / Gold Leaf
From the Main Menu we ordered:
• Tataki - Seared Wagyu Beef (A5) / Black Lava Salt / Wasabi
• Baby Spinach Salad - Baby Spinach / Portabella Mushroom / Seared Scallop (the dressing on this salad was incredible!)
• Wagyu Tomato - Wagyu Beef (A5) / Heirloom Tomato / Caramelized Red Onion / Cilantro / Sweet Soy Sauce
The dessert menu was small, but they do serve Mochi Ice Cream.
The restaurant also features three tiers of Omakase dinners starting at $85.00. We will be trying one of these the next time we go.
Asanebo’s founders, Shunji and Tetsuya Nakao, were among the original chefs at Matsuhisa. The restaurant has earned a Michelin star.
Delicious food that you will remember eating. We look forward to returning !!
Treated myself to this place.
I came here and ordered the omakase. I won’t ruin it by letting you in on the details but what I will say is that if you’re a fan of Japanese good this is a must. This place is very tasty and the service is also impeccable. Reasonably priced for what I consider outstanding food.

On a last minute business trip and looking for a new place to eat in this part of LA. What a gorgeous place with the right amount of intimacy. I was a loan customer in a packed restaurant. Everyone gave me the right amount of attention and exact detail to my needs and questions. I was there for the Michelin cuisine and MP Blue Belly Toro that I was looking for in the reviews. AMAZING. The Kagatobi Sake called for 2 glasses for myself! Dessert was a homemade ice cream. While I was eating I watched as they prepared beautiful dishes I only wish I had ordered but I was pleasantly satisfied. Every customer seemed like they new each other even when they arrived late! Wonderful place and highly recommend.

Chefs selection very nice quality, but price obscene. Kayaseki price but no gold flake, nor third grade tuna..🤔

My wife and I come here for special occasions as it can get a little pricey. However, when we do come, we enjoy every bite during our usual 3 hour course. The service is also always spot on. We have tried a number of omakase's throughout los angeles as well as other parts of the states. This one always stands out because they are constantly changing the dishes as the seasons change with the freshest fish that time of year. I would rate this restaurant as one of the top 3 we have ever been to.

Went with a friend on his recommendation and it did not disappoint.
I suggest trying many different dishes and especially the crab if they are in season. And the dessert was phenomenal!
Asanebo exceeded every expectation
My family was in L.A. on vacation from the East Coast and one night we were in Studio City and decided at the last minute decided we wanted sushi for dinner. Asanebo popped up on some app and we decided to try it. So we walk in with our three kids... 7, 5, and 2 and process to ask for a table. The place is very small and it was packed but there was this one table sitting empty that they were holding for a VIP reservation. The host looked at us and either saw the determination in my eyes or the desperation in my darling wife’s, but he asked if we thought we’d be done in an hour or so. We said we certainly hoped so and he sat us at the best table in the house. The servers were very kind and accommodating to our small children. It doesn’t seem like the sort of place where they get a lot of kids, but they were very good nonetheless. The food was amazing. My wife and I each ordered their Omakase multicourse experiences and got some things for the kids to share. The food was simply amazing. The kids got to try excellent sushi that was so well prepared they actually enjoyed it and have probably been spoiled for sushi forever... and I felt like the meal, which cost more than a plane ticket home, was well worth it because of the experience. It was the culinary highlight of our trip... well, that and chorizo breakfast burritos from this hole in the wall in Pasadena, but that’s another review. The amazing food and service make Asanebo stand out among a crowded field. The staff there went well out of their way to make us feel welcome even among the socialites and other fancy folk who filled the rest of the place that Saturday night.
Be the first to ReplySolid, Serious Sushi Restaurant
As other reviewers have noted, Asanebo has excellent sushi and service. Even considering the fact that LA is littered with high end sushi restaurants, Asanebo holds its own, and won't disappoint. Aesthetically the restaurant is nice enough, though it won't win any design awards. It's just a nice, small, and quaint place to enjoy some good Sushi on Ventura Blvd. I'm not sure I'd classify it as the best sushi in LA, but it's very solid and worth a try if you're looking for a good meal in the neighborhood.
