Dull dishes, casual service
The food is not exceptional, far from it - the products (meat in particular) are of good quality but the toppings are really too basic. The high prices could possibly be justified if the service was of high quality, adding the little touch of atmosphere that is part of the expected brasserie experience. Alas, alas, this time he turned out to be a little too casual and even bordering on incorrectness (a very simple and polite request greeted by an exasperated expression). Quite a bit of slowness and approximation elsewhere. We will definitely come back, hoping that things go better next time!
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent restaurant to meet with friends. Deserves at least a Michelin star!
The four of us met for a delightful meal that lasted almost four hours. We had several courses over the meal and we all tried different items. The service was splendid, the food very excellently prepared and tasty and never once did we feel pressured to make way for another customer! I would highly recommend this restaurant as an excellent place to meet and get excellent service. Jerome was a delight to work with.
Be the first to ReplyThe cuisine does not live up to the pretension of the place!
The place is trendy but don't go there to eat well. Tuna tartare without seasoning, skate wing served without the melted butter announced but with a separate, lukewarm puree. Too bad because the rest holds up: service, decor, brasserie atmosphere,...
Be the first to ReplySlow, pretentious and disrespectful service
Slow, pretentious and disrespectful service. A waiter took 30 minutes to bring us the menu, despite several friendly signs from us. This server (Breno, according to his badge) did not appreciate it and made it widely known to us throughout the service. Absolutely useless and inappropriate balance of power on his part. Although the food was nice, we will never go again
Be the first to ReplyClassic and good
Quiet and well frequented place. Classic service and menu, well served dishes, staff to match. Very pleasant brasserie.
Be the first to ReplyThanks to Kadi
A big thank you to Kadi for her kindness and attention during our lunch! I have known the Niels brothers' restaurants since "always" my father frequented them and took me there! It’s always a pleasure to come back… and I was very touched by the efficiency of this very smiling little Kadi! THANK YOU !!!
Be the first to ReplyA complete rip off !!
We waited too long to get overcooked cold food. The kids burger was simply 2 pieces of bread with an over cooked and cold steak inside. The french fries were so disgusting that it’s the first time that I see my kids leaving their fries in their plate… it’s the second time we go there, first experience was bad, the second one even worse. It’s a complete rip off !! Stay away.
Be the first to ReplyHuge disappointment on several counts! Must read details...
Knowing well the diner is a bit pricey but said to be worth the extra bit, we turned out in force of four, couple with adult daughters. Reservations are not taken, but we got a nice terrace table, albeit Brussels haven't heard yet of the concept of smoking sections, so the nearby chain smoker polluted our airspace. No fault of his, but the restaurant that has ambitions would know how to deal with the issue. I am not here to educate them so will end this point at that. Asked three times for the drinks and finally ordered them, they took their sweet time to arrive, and once they did, the kir, normally a cremant with dash of cassis but here a cheaper version of white wine with enough syrup to kill the wine taste, albeit wine substitute was stated in the menu, was way too sweet. We drink champagne, cremant and kir often enough to know. The waiter brought a small bowl of nuts, raisins and almonds with the drinks. Nice and appreciated. The bread and butter, normally brought at the start, did come but only much later, once we were half done with our main courses. But let's not jump over the juicy food ordering stage that made the evening so memorable and worth the star, the only one. The ordering was a bit stretched as we asked some questions before deciding. The waiter did answer and we were all set to wait and sip the drinks. But even here, his nonchalant and homey attitude was not becoming of restaurant staff at the level this place purports to have achieved. Twisted pose, splanglish responses, face grimaces... it wasn't appreciated but we hoped the food will come and we will only have to speak to him again when paying the bill. Unfortunately, one of our four dishes, and a few side orders for which we asked together with mains, took too long to arrive, thus giving our three dishes enough time to cool to the 20*C ambient temperature of this lovely May evening. That, sadly, wasn't the end of disappointments. One plate, "Asperges (AAA) de Malines à la Flamande, froides vinaigrette ou chaudes mousseline" 23,00 euros for this long discription, was in fact composed of 3 asparagus sticks, a splash of sauce and a few leaves of persil, for decoration. A cooked potatoes, were €5 supplement. When we raised our objection to the €8/stick price (one would expect at least 5 or 6 sticks on one's plate), the waiter's nonchalance took more aggressive and disrespectful tone, aiming to make us feel ashamed of daring to question the value and ended by saying, it's how it us here! Before he left, he managed to drop the menu into my plate and disarrange a few slices of lined up tomatos, and a droplet of saliva from his mouth landed on my phone, which was next to my plate. Pfff, lucky me, it could have landed on my food unseen! One of the two senior ladies at the nearby table hailed the waiter at that moment and told him that she also ordered the same and will not pay that price for 3 sticks, send the 3 sticks back to the kitchen and changed her order. The manager arrived, heard all above complaints, apologized for some but to the €8 per stick he only suggested to order more supplements, at added cost, of course. One should not expect anything more from a manager in a Belgian restaurant in such situation, though pleasant exceptions exist. The story is almost finished. The beancounter of this place that is in charge of checks, managed to screw it up, but as it was to our advantage we decided that we have complained enough for one evening and paid exact amount. Never to return, we hope to have better experiences elsewhere in the future.
Be the first to ReplyThis is worth a Visit !
So I called to see my brother who has just moved to this area of Brussells and we took a walk and called in to this restaurant for a quick light lunch last week - - full the place and I know know why - the service was first class , the food offering extensive and the food its self very tasty indeed - nice location while full inside their was seating outside which in the summer would be wonderful - I would come back - not cheap for a quick light lunch at Euro 95 but well worth every cent.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious & overpriced
As this place is next to our home we have tried this place twice. The first time an artichoke heart was served frozen at the core and the server answered ‘that’s how we serve it’, with his nose in the air as if he was a character from the cartoon Ratatouille. The second time we wanted to split the bill with several credit cards as we went with a large group and there the waiter refused, stating that at the end of the year the paper of the machine costs a lot - at least we had a good laugh!!!! Overall I find this place pretentious, nothing special food-wise and overpriced. This low level of service should not be tolerated, I hope this place will change owners quickly.
