A Jem of a restaurant...
My son and I found this restaurant by accident. We came to Palo Alto for another Indian restaurant. But we were turned away for not having a reservation. Instead we found Aurum in Los Altos, and it was fabulous. Every dish we ordered was very tasty. We started off with the crab cakes that were flavored with yummy Indian spices, loved them. We were also impressed with the sea bass, butter chicken and garlic naan, all very tasty. Loved the idea of the butter chicken being served as a pot pie and having a flakey crust on top. The wait staff were very attentive to all services. We will be back again. A nice surprise to know...the chef beat BF. This is a fabulous restaurant to try if you are visiting Los Altos or a local. Highly recommend it.

Good food but the best experience was lacking.we called for paneer tikka, which was kind of ok or my expectations were high as the review sd its a michelin star restaurant.aloo chaat was splendid, i truly loved it.for the main course we called for kofta(veggie)and rotis & naans My husband is a non veg eater so he had tiger prawns as starters and lamb curry in the main course.he found tiger prawns to be good and lamb currytoo.mind u the portions are small.the rotis and naans were very gd. The best came at the last, toffee pudding and ghevar.loved the ghevari with rabdi foam, the aroma of keshar was simply fabulous.but again very small portion
Be the first to ReplyFusion style Indian food
Opened in 2020 this place serves a modern fusion style Indian food. A really good experience. Service was also very good. I’m coming back.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting, tasty dinner
Three of us went to Aurum on a Monday night and enjoyed mango Lassi’s and a nice dinner. Asked for recommended dishes and ordered 1/2 vegetarian and 1/2 not. Garlic Naan, cauliflower, biranyi were all tasty. Their rolls as a starter were the best dish. Surprisingly the butter chicken was the least interesting of all dishes.

The dishes were all decent, but nothing memorable. Most are a strange fusion that turns out a little odd.....I would have been ok with it, but all the flavors are too bland. Small portions too. The naan was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Creative Cuisine
Aurum is hands down the best restaurant in Los Altos. We go about every other week, and look forward to it on the nights we are not there. Very pleased to see that Michelin has taken note of its quality in the recently released ratings. Incredibly creative and flavorful food, and excellent service.
Be the first to ReplyCreative menu. Many vegetarian & vegan options
Creative Indian dining with good food & service. They have many vegetarian & some vegan items. We had Smokey-Jhalmuri, Mr Potato - Potato Spiral Chaat, Blush - HeirloomTomato Salad, Brassica Beets - Cauliflower Bezule, Pitthi Pocket, Steamed Basmati Rice, and Out of the Way, aloing with Pomeolo Pani and Tango in Goa as drinks.

Visited for the first time and sat outside for dinner. The restaurant is small and Started by the owner of Broadway Masala in Redwood City and the chef from August 15 in San Francisco which shut down. The menu is not traditional but more eclectic. We ordered 3 appetizers, the Chatori Kachori which is a large deep fried flour shell stuffed with Mung Beans and yellow peas and seasoned with tamarind and mint chutneys. Next was MR. Potato which was large potato spiral cut and deep fried with cilantro and tamarind chutneys and yogurt. Lastly we had the Jhaalmoodi which is a mix of lentils and corn in a pungent mustard oil mixture very popular in Calcutta and amongst Bengalis. For the main course we shared Bihari Pitti Pocket , while wheat dumplings stuffed with spicy potatoes with a lentil dal sauce. Almost like a Gnocchi , a very unusual dish. We also had the Saag Paneer Lasagna which was essentially a spinach lasagne, quite unremarkable and we had the goat cheese naan pizza. Which was good. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Rasmalai, quite unusual and not bad and the Ghevar a deep fried pastry with dark chocolate and ricotta . Overall we enjoyed and ate a bit too much. Had a bottle of the Carbon Cabernet. Will go again to try some of the other dishes
