Beautiful grounds
The grounds were beautiful. Staff were super nice. The only problem was they didn't have tea and didn't think about sending people to get it at a local supermarket. Don't book Summer Foraging Tips. It's a waste of time.
Be the first to ReplyMy First-Time Delight in Nature’s Comfort
My first visit to Autocamp Catskills in New York was a delightful 5 out of 5 experience, beautifully marrying the essence of nature with contemporary comforts. As someone new to this type of retreat and particularly finicky about bathroom facilities, I was pleasantly surprised. The bathroom was not only spacious but also stylishly appointed, contributing to an overall cozy setup. The staff members were the epitome of kindness and friendliness, creating lovely vibes throughout the camp. Autocamp Catskills isn’t just a stay; it’s a transformative journey into nature’s heart, ideal for those seeking a blend of adventure and peace.
Be the first to ReplySome maintenance work needed
Like many other reviewers mentioned, the idea of Autocamp is great but it is a bit poorly executed (at this location). I've heard many good things about Autocamp from friends living in California, so when they expanded to the East Coast, I had to cross it off from my bucket list! We stayed at a premium airstream for two nights. The vibe of the camp is exactly what I expected — low key, cozy, and close to nature. The overall maintenance of the property however, could use some improvement. The bedsheet felt a bit old/over-washed. There were also some (somewhat minor but annoying) issues in our airstream, such as the bathroom fan remote was out of battery, the mysterious switches in our room (the staff also didn't know what they were for), and the water pressure was very low (which I assume was designed to mimic a camping experience but makes me wonder what happens during cold winter days!). The club house is beautifully designed but the furnitures had a lot of stains. Some are normal wear and tear but then again could probably be cleaned or replaced as I bet no one enjoys sitting on a dirty yellow chair. Lastly, there were some misinformation (or rather outdated probably) on what's included in our stay, such as if firewood would be given out to all guests (we received different information from different staff), hot chocolates in the morning (which is no longer provided), and direction for hiking trails around the property (which is not part of the property map). Overall, we enjoyed our time here but definitely were on the fence if we'd come back again for a $500-nightly rate...which we felt it was worth about $200 at most. I really hope these minor issues could be looked into because we'd love to host a friend's gathering here in the future on this beautiful site!
Be the first to ReplyGood idea, bad execution
BAD: - Packed tightly with way too many airstreams. It doesn't feel like a camping/glamping experience because of that - Constantly trying to upsell despite the super high nightly rate - Our airstream was ready when we arrived at 1:30PM. They didnt let us in unless we pay $50! Because early checkin is a "package". And guess what? Checkout is at 10AM! But of course, there's "package" for that too! GOOD: - Our airstream was clean and stylish - Granola in the AM is delicious
Be the first to ReplyBugs in tent ruined the "glamping" experience
Stayed in the luxury tent for one night on a trip with my wife. The moment we walked into the tent we noticed over a dozen spiders scattered throughout, including large wolf spiders. We had to spend the first 30 minutes shaking out the sheets and checking all the furniture to get rid of the spiders. The next day, new spiders had crawled in and were spinning webs by our bed. The tent is very nice with a good bed and furniture but I wouldn't stay again with how many bugs there were. The airstreams and cabins were closer together than I thought so it's not terribly private. The grounds and surrounding forest were very beautiful. Food and drink onsite were fine but there are some better options in town. The firepit and outdoor seating area is nice and you can save a couple bucks by buying wood in town.
Be the first to ReplyVery cool concept, but just did not deliver
The overall concept is very cool, and the grounds are nice. Our airstream was also great - loved the bathroom and the bed was super comfortable. You could tell the cleaning was very surface cleaning though. I had to wipe down the tables in the bedroom and also the kitchen sink was not cleaned. The clubhouse was also a nice spot to hang. But the amenities were pretty lacking. I was traveling with my two daughters for a girls weekend away. We received a text before check-in which was really nice saying that they were plenty of board games and lawn games. It was raining during our stay and when we went to the clubhouse we couldn’t find any board games however there was chess and Jenga. They had an outdoor fire going, but the indoor fireplace was not, which was a little disappointing since it was cold and rainy. There was no information about what to see near the camp, and no suggestions for other activities outside of the camp. The staff was pleasant but it would’ve been better to provide more activities, especially since they were so many families with young children. Staying in the airstream was fun, although it could’ve been cleaner. But for overall experience it definitely fell short of our expectations.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Idea, needs some work on execution.
So they have a great idea with this place but the execution could be better. Also the pictures on the website are a little misleading as to what you are getting. We came as a couple looking for an intimate glamping experience. This is a very large, tightly packed campground with probably 50 or so Airstreams and another 50 or so cabins that are all very close together. You park with everyone else in a large parking lot and then carry your items to your site. They provide wagons but everyone arrives at the same time and we could not get one, so many trips back and forth to unload our items. Our Airstream was right at the front so we had to keep the shades down as everyone passed by ours to get to the other sites. The site itself was very nicely landscaped and the inside of the RV was clean but there were old stains on the furniture. The bed was very comfortable but we did notice a musty doggy type odor during the night. Would be nice if they had some sites that are dog free for those of us who don't own dogs or have allergies. The Airstream was listed as having a fully stocked kitchen which it did in terms of plates, etc. But the stove had been removed and your only cooking tools were a microwave inside and a wood firepit outside. There was also a minifrige but no ice. We could purchase ice at the lodge, but we did not have an ice chest with us so no where to keep it. Our Airstream had a spacious full bathroom which was nice but the water pressure was so low it was diffcult to shower. It was mostly families with children when we were there. Not a problem we have lots of grandchildren, just not what we were expecting. They have a great setup for a family style glamping experience but definitely need to work on a few things. I would consider coming back with grandchildren they would love it, there was nice playground and a firepit by the lodge and games inside. The staff was very nice, helpful and friendly, A++ for great employees!
Be the first to ReplyCould Be Great, But Just Wasn't
A 3-star stay, rounded-up, broken down as follows: 1 star: the menu is clearly curated with care, but something was lost in translation in the actual cooking of the food, because it was truly worse than airplane food. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? But even our kids wouldn't touch the pizza and mac & cheese. It was just bad, and camping food is supposed to be good. 2 stars: overall hospitality. In general, the staff (who are likely all lovely people) seemed flustered and overworked. There were two staff members working the (long) check-in line while also juggling being bartenders during the happy hour in the lobby. Management should clearly designate a bartender during the happy hour so staff can see to the check-in process. Check-in time was listed as 4:00, but we were waiting over 40 minutes to be admitted to our cabin, which finally happened at 4:40. Every time we asked, we were told they were just waiting on final approval by the housekeeping manager, which is strange, because things were overlooked (see below). I asked if they could offer us drink vouchers or something similar because we'd been waiting so long; I was told they didn't have vouchers, but they would remember us and comp our drinks. They did so, which was great, but if excellent customer service was being employed, they would have made a similar concession without me having to ask. 3 stars: overall cleanliness. We stayed in a standard family cabin. The sheets and towels were all clean, but other things were not. The dishes in the cabinet had crust on them, there were coffee grounds above the fridge, a dead fly on the window sill, stains on the couch, the liner on the front door and front window were hanging off, and there was mold in the shower. We booked mid-week with a AAA discount so it was $250/night, but generally this cabin goes for $400-$500+/night, so it should have been spick and span. 5 stars: this goes to the mastermind behind AutoCamp, because the concept and design are flawless. This place could be so great if a few adjustments were made by management. I know this is a new(ish) location for AutoCamp, so perhaps they'll sort out the kinks in time. If you're going to book, I recommend going mid-week so you're not left disappointed after paying an astronomical nightly rate.
Be the first to ReplyNot great
We stayed at a premium family cabin for two nights, which (honestly) was enough for us! Given the beautiful photos, I had high expectations for our stay. When we checked in, we were informed that we had been upgraded to a vista cabin, which has better views than the premium family cabin that we'd booked. I'm not sure what the view from the premium family cabins are like, but the vista cabin looked out onto the back storage shed (which was left open during our stay, so we got a great view of their laundry and stacked tables and chairs). The other windows looked onto a back dirt road and the back of a trailer. So....not such a great vista. We were tired and looking forward to a good dinner. The menu of the restaurant on site looked yummy. However we were surprised it was an "order at the counter" situation, with no dedicated tables. We ordered the chili, lasagna, and a flatbread (half the menu was "not available"), and were surprised to receive food that was reheated from frozen...it actually didn't taste that bad, but we would have gone somewhere else if we'd realized we were ordering reheated food. The cabin was fine, cutely designed though when we opened the cabinet below the sink to throw stuff away a bunch of fruit flies flew out. Housekeeping had not been thorough. We kept that cabinet closed for the rest of our stay. The shower smelled mildewy and we kept the fan on the whole time we were there. Also, there are noise regulations but on our last night the neighboring cabin was loud way past the stated hours. On the plus side, the granola and coffee at breakfast is fantastic, and the main lobby is beautifully designed. We also liked the shop that has very nicely curated goods for sale. Wish I could report better, but at the price we paid (almost $700/night) we would go with a real hotel next time.
Be the first to ReplyA cozy getaway spot
Comfortable, minimalist design that felt luxurious while being surrounded by nature and having all the modern luxuries at your finger tips! We stayed in a vista airstream, which was set back a bit from the line of other campers. It felt especially private on the first night when both campers on either side of us were empty. The lodge is beautiful and well appointed. Complimentary local granola was delicious!! We had a wonderful, romantic getaway! Great spot for couples!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Staycation in NY
Auto Camp is the perfect short getaway from the city(NY) located in the Catskills! I deiced to take a girls road trip to the Catskills location! Its was less than a 2 hour ride to the site. It was one of the best decisions I took in a long time. AutoCamp was a getaway needed to disconnect to reconnect. AutoCamp has a variety of accommodations on site on how you want to glamp in luxury! We spent the weekend in a luxury Air Steamer Suite. I was surprised at how spacious the inside was. We both had enough space to move around. If we needed privacy from each other we could close the door to the bedroom or bathroom door. Everything was spotless and comfortable inside. Inside the air steamer you'll find dishware, flatware, reading books, and even a tv to feel homey. You can enjoy your stay here throughout all 4 seasons. We took our rode trip here in the winter time and it was magically. On our last day it snowed for us! The air steamer also has heating and an ac unit installed so you'll be comfortable from the outside temperatures. The location is great, beautiful nature, hiking trails, restaurants, kids friendly activities close by, museums, grocery store, and more. AutoCamp’s common area offers a work space, free Wi-Fi, yoga sessions, board games, a mini market, wood, cooking supplies, and more!!! AutoCamp common area also has an on going fire pit inside & outside you can enjoy. If you didn't want to leave the camp site AutoCamp has everything you'll need for your stay. Dogs are also welcome! :) If you're looking for seclusion, I recommended unwinding at AutoCamp. The camp site is an ideal getaway for families & solo travelers. By far this was our most enjoyable stay upstate!
Be the first to ReplyFun experience in the Catskills
Autocamp is a lot of fun and well organized. We stayed in a cabin which was cozy and perfect for two nights. The camp had great activities available and my group enjoyed the yoga and a guided hike through a beautiful trail. The cooking kit for the bbq was great and it was really nice to have breakfast and a full bar in the clubhouse area. We had perfect fall weather which helped the experience, as camping, even glamping, would have been less fun in the rain. Highlight recommend for a short stay!
Be the first to ReplyA new twist on a classic style
If you want to getaway and try something totally different for a changd, this is the place for you. We stayed in an airstream trailer. It was brand new, really nicely decorated, warm, clean, and just a lot of fun to stay in. I got it for my wife as a gift. The first thing she asked when we left...when can we go back!
Be the first to ReplyGlamping in the Catskills
Omg this place is amazing. Located approximately 2 hours out of New York City, this quaint location was everything I am looking for. I wanted to stay in no traditional lodging but still be comfortable in the dead of winter in upstate New York. I stayed in a classic airstream. The amenities were all modern, bright, clean , and airy. Here are some of my experiences but they don’t impact my 5 star rating. Next time I will be better prepared. Things to note: check in time is at 4 and check out is at 10. You really need more time so stay more than one night. Or you can do a late check out for $75. This place is lovely for dog parents. Glad we brought ours. He was even given treats and respectful rubs at check in. Delivery is non existent. Bring your own food or pick up take out before you get to AutoCamp. Driving through curvy backroads after dusk in deer country was nerve wracking. Take advantage of the main lodge amenities. There was a bonfire, happy hour, and yoga class while there. The property is great for walking. You don’t have to go anywhere to experience beginner level nature walks. The heat knocked out but the maintenance people arrived within 5 minutes and although they couldn’t fix it at the moment. It needed time to reset. The space heater they brought had the whole airstream a toasty 80 degrees. They have a variety of different lodging accommodations RVs, tents, and cabins. Try them all. I want to stay in a tent in the spring. 😊.
Be the first to ReplyOut of the Ordinary Catskills Getaway
We loved our premium Airstream. Bed seemed bigger than queen, and comfy. Luxury bathroom, shower was more than we expected. The quiet & privacy afforded by this concept was ideal for us. So cozy to lay in bed & stream horror movies to the TV. Clubhouse manned by super friendly & accommodating staff. (Lighting could be dimmer at night, though.) Breakfast is minimal (granola & coffee) but good. Diners are close by. Pet-friendly. Close to Saugerties dining and shopping (great bookstores), not far from other towns like Rhinebeck. We will be back in warmer weather...and a pool is coming in 2023. A terrific alternative to pricier Catskills hotels.
Be the first to ReplyIt’s a nice and beautiful place to stay, but not how I expected.
It’s an awesome place to stay. Upon arriving I felt really excited. Front desk are friendly the clubhouse was great, It’s a nice place to stay and chill. They also have happy hour, live music and gathering at the fire pit. The clubhouse is open 24 hours you can reach them by text or just come in. The mini store is great too if you forget to bring something, pricey though but that’s how every accommodation is, so bring as much stuff as you need. Ambience is just wow this would be a great weekend. But why 3 stars? We go around a lot in Catskills honestly this is by far my less favorite, why?? 1. You can’t park next to your site they will provide a wagon that you can use to get your things and walk to your site. Not really convenient especially if you are arriving at night. 2. We booked a Suite Vista Airstream the more “secluded” in the property, it’s not secluded at all you’ll have neighbors around and see each others business, not so great. It’s not that peaceful with a lot of neighbors. 3. The airstream was clean until we found a used mug with popcorn inside and residue of butter around it. Like literally it looked like they used it and just put it back in the cabinet. The kettle has water left inside and it smells. Yuck! So cleaning the unit is questionable this property is new to find something like this. (Wash and clean your kitchen stuff before using it) 4. You cannot cook inside your airstream so all the cooking has to be done outside. Either you cook or just do take away and heat it inside coz they have a microwave which is awesome by the way. 5. Check in made us aware it’s a non-smoking PROPERTY (any kind of smoking paraphernalia is not allowed even candles and incense included) which is great but not with the person that I’m me. We had to go out of the property to smoke which is not safe at night at least a designated smoking area right? 6. Going around the property it’s too congested everything is too close to each other. imagine during spring/summer it’s gonna be to much people. If you’re looking to a more peaceful and secluded area in Catskills this won’t be the place for you but overall it’s a nice family friendly place to stay.
