🙂 4/5 - Fine Italian Restaurant but ambiance is not too refined

The food was very fine with attention to details of composition, flavors and a mixture of traditional dishes and more adventurous fare. The antipasto was tasty and copious, the pastas we ordered were flavorful and al dente, and the second course meat dishes were hearty and satisfying. Fine wine and cocktails by the glass were to be had. Desserts while somewhat pricey were well made and tasty. The service was very attentive and professional. The reason I am not giving this restaurant five stars is because of the excessively loud rock music that was incessant and unvaried. There was no variance in the mood or tone or dynamics, so that by the end of our meal, I was literally exhausted from the loudness of the rock music. This really marred the ambiance and otherwise very soothing and tasteful decor. My advice to the management is to consider modulating the music so that there is variation in mood and tone as well as decibels, just as the lighting was dimmed as we got later into the meal. The fact that it was a Saturday night dis not matter I was told, as even during weekdays the music tends toward the loud and nerve-wracking. This is really too bad.
