Still on my journey to find my favorite staycation Manhattan hotel and this one is a one and done. Don't get me wrong, the bar and hotel itself is gorgeous with all of the crystal.. I will definitely continue going to Baccarat for their tea service or restaurant/bar to eat and drink but the stay was meh. Had some hiccups with room, we booked with Amex and were never given any of the FHR benefits. Room was pretty but mediocre. View of alley. Room service was expensive for no reason. Ordering late night dessert would be a crazy amount for some cookies and milk, then they have big service charge, bring it up to your room charge, etc etc. Ended up making late night munchies of 3 cookies and a glass of milk close to $70 or $80. Maybe more worth it if the cookies were extra special and great tasting... nope, just Baccarat nickel and diming everything. Mind you, this isn't a huge resort where they're walking far to get your stuff to you. Turn down service was hit or miss but they did stop by and drop off macaroons each evening. They have just the restaurant and bar for dining so not a ton of options, and during the week the restaurant and bar were pretty dead. Picked up on the weekend. Overall, the hotel is gorgeous but small and lacking other touches I like from other 5 star hotels. I will go back for the bar but my top Manhattan hotel hunt continues!
