Overpriced but great quality
Fantastic waterpark, beautiful pool & beach areas, rooms are nice BUT views were not great- far away from the ocean (Grand Hyatt east) and not worth the 900USD a night for that view. We had to asked to change rooms bc we were initially staring at a parking lot. Auto gratuity is super annoying (especially when they ask for additional tip). Amazing food variety but VERY expensive and portions aren't huge. Breakfast is ridiculous that it is $200 USD for a family of 4 at the buffet and about $150 elsewhere. Waterpark had great lunch options and very few lines. not sure if we would go back.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated poor with poor hospitality
Absolutely awful experience! i could go on where do i begin besides expensive which we could not get a hotel reservation which we tried 2 months prior . the pizza Lab was the best place you could get in and would actually smile . hospitality sucked wanted to grab every penny they could . casino right in main lobby which gives it a lower class look and vibe . i ll go to vegas if i want that . paid good money for classless place .
Be the first to ReplyDay Pass - Not Much Available for Adults Who Wanted to Relax in the Pool
As two adults who wanted to have a relaxing day, we bought the day pass. As a travel agent, I typically recommend the Atlantis Day Pass for my clients and wanted to try Baha Mar. Sad to find out that the only pool available to us was the wave pool - not relaxing at all. The beach club needed reservations and the hotel pools were off limits for day pass holders. It was a total waste of $160 and I would not recommend a day pass unless you want to do the slides. Definitely don't recommend for couples who want to relax.
Be the first to ReplyNO DINING OPTIONS BOOKED SOLID POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVENT EVEN ARRIVED YET!!!
I never have had to write a review BEFORE my trip but this is a first ! We are a family of four traveling with another family of four and we haven’t even begun our trip booked for next week and already have begun to have MAJOR problems booking our dining reservations ! I have been trying desperately on constant contact via email and phone calls to concierge to help us work booking dining as we are arriving Thursday next week and have an 18th birthday celebration Friday. The concierge keeps bouncing my emails among a new person each day , sending me same email over and over again “to please fill out the form for your dining request” , in which I have done now over a dozen times and there not responding to any requests to get into Marcus or Cleo or Filia or Katsuya. At this rate , after spending $10,000 for 6 days it doesn’t look like we will be eating at this resort after paying so much. We had to book three nights so far to dine OFF PROPERTY!! This is insane i can feel customer service is definitely lacking already. We even offered to pay top $$$ to accommodate us for private dining and nope nothing. Everything booked solid except buffet. With one family member with allergy issues this is not possible. We work in service industry and this is already bad bad start to an expensive vacation. I’m a Big social media networker and I’m anticipating if this continues I will have no choice but to continue to share my experience across all Platforms of social media. Reading all this bad reviews just of this month is definitely worrisome of what’s to come . I hope management reaches out responds to my emails and gets us some assistance with eating at the resort we paid top dollar for. We still have a week to go till make this right and make this wedding anniversary, 18th birthday trip special. Crossing my fingers but not holding my breath!
Be the first to ReplyPros and cons
The property is beautiful and very well kept. The staff are all friendly. We are here during peak time and the hotel is at capacity. This is our first time visiting and we did not know you have to book restaurant reservations way in advance! We are just 2 people and had to wait until 8:30- 9:00 pm to be able to walk in and eat at a bar each night. I don’t know what families are doing. This place is very expensive and is priced as a 5 star resort, but the options for food without booking reservations way in advance is not at a 5 star level. Not even close. For the amount of money this costs I should be able to go out for a meal at a reasonable time without having to book 1 month in advance. This is our biggest issue with this place. Oh and the food portions are very small and at a premium price with an extra 25% tacked onto everything (VAT and service charge). For instance last night we ate in the lobby area at Monkey Bar and my food came out a good 20 mins before my husbands. I was done before his came. The server was apologetic, but we still had to pay full price with full 15% built in tip. The rooms are fine. The AC is great, bed is comfy, great pillows etc. water pressure is great too. The bathrooms are teeny tiny and have quite an odd set up. There is no door on the bathroom itself and just has a curtain. The wall between the bathroom and room is not solid and is slatted wood that can be opened and closed.. you can hear everything. The toilet and shower are both in glass enclosures with clear doors. We are a couple so it’s fine for us, but would be a bit awkward with friends. The waterpark is huge and amazing!! Even at capacity the property is big enough that it doesn’t feel over run ( except the food issue). We never had an issue getting chairs at the beach. The beach staff were amazing and always willing to bring an umbrella and set it up. They are all super friendly and lovely. The casino is fun! Lots of people at night and good assortment of slots and tables. My husband loves the sports book. We golfed at royal blue. It was pricey too but for a destination it wasn’t crazy compared to other places we have gone. The course was in great shape and was wide open. We played in 3.5 hours. Amazing staff there! We really enjoyed the golf. So overall pros and cons. The cost is not for the faint of heart… get your wallet out if you are coming here!! There is also a daily resort fee of almost 100 per day. Nothing is cheap here! A 2 litre bottle of water was 13 USD. Overall we have enjoyed our trip. Lovely property and very relaxing. However, the whole restaurant thing is nuts especially given the cost. Oh and one more thing.. there are no ice machines on the floors. Yesterday my husband called for ice.. it finally showed up about an hour later. Today he called again.. that was about 2 hours ago and we have concluded it’s not coming.. again for the cost the ice should 1. Show up and 2. Show up in a reasonable Time

Very large resort, we enjoyed our stay. However the taxes added to every transaction adds up. The pool and beach were very relaxing, many restaurants onsite, staff friendly and helpful. The room was overlooking the fountains and had a balcony.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely unhappy and rude staffs everywhere - especially for Asian families
I left a review for Grand hyatt, Baha Mar on my 5th day and gave it two stars. Today is my 6th day and I’m deleting the original review, which you can read below, and I’m now giving this place 1 star based on what happened since then. I thought things could not get worse, but the bad service continues to compound and I really have to update the review for people considering this place. When I first heard about Baha Mar and skimmed through negative reviews, a mistake on my part was assuming how bad could it be. Right? Like how bad could it be? Well at Baha Mar, it could really ruin your vacation. On average, a family can spend anywhere from 5k-10k+, depending on your travel month, duration, extras you choose to do. Of course this can be doubled if you have a bigger family with better rooms, etc. For our family of 4 our total on this trip of 6 nights during spring break will come out to about 12-13k. I’m not mad about the money and I’m not expecting a royal treatment for that cost either. But I expect a basic level of service and respect from the staff who work the grounds. Below is the review I wrote yesterday and scroll further for the last 24 hours. Btw, we are leaving tomorrow and I can’t wait to get out. Original review written on my 5th day. ———— I’m not the one who claims “that’s racist” when anything unfair happens. But when it keeps happening to your family over and over again, you see a pattern. My first impression was that the staffs were generally unfriendly, at the front desk, concierge, at the pool, they just came across as if they didn’t want to be here. And my initial assumption was that maybe they didn’t like their job, maybe they are not paid enough, etc. But several times I had to be in lines where people ahead of me would get serviced and I am observing their interaction, and the staffs are clearly smiling, talking, asking what they needed, and when I come in front of the line with my smile on, they wipe their smile and don’t even make eye contact. I was buying a rashguard for my kid at vineyard vines shop, there were two women working the register making all kinds of small talk to the Caucasian couple ahead of me in English and when my daughter and I came to the front of the line to pay for our stuff, one of them spoke in the local language, and the other one laughs and says ‘english’, and this repeated intentionally to create a weird ambiance. It was such a bully behavior towards customers. Not because they were speaking in their local language but because they kept looking at us and made it clear they were talking about us and laughing. We are an Asian family of 4. First day on the beach, we were trying to get help with beach umbrellas, I am not making this up when I say we asked 5 different beach staffs and they all told me to go to the other person because they were doing something else, and they were clearly helping Caucasians with the umbrellas. After 45 minutes and tipping up front, at this point call it bribing we were able to get our umbrella. There was another Asian family who asked me how I got our umbrella as they have been pingponged the same way, and I told them to just bribe up front. At a poke shop, my kid wanted a shaved ice. A Caucasian kid in front of us got a big mound of ice for her and my son maybe got over half. When I asked if they can put a little bit more as they didn’t even fill the cup, the woman rolled her eyes at me and spoke in local language to the rest of the staffs and I was quite disgusted with their behavior. Because of the beach umbrella hassle, I just booked cabanas for our family for the rest of the trip. The staffs frequently check in on other cabanas throughout the day, but not ours. I have to remind the staff about the complimentary fruit salad or water that comes with the cabana so they don’t skip it. The concierge at the west tower is some of the unfriendliest people you come across, and you’re supposed to be “concierge”!!! My husband has British accent and the service on the phone is exceptional. Obviously not surprised there because they really cater to the caucasian families here. Like what in the hell, Grand Hyatt, Baha Mar, train your staff. This is such a disappointing experience and I’m grateful that my kids are young to not pick up on these subtle and petty bully behavior but I will not be returning and I will be sharing this experience with other families. To be fair, not everyone is giving us this horrible experience but I have to say even a 50% staff is half too many for a vacation experience. Now a practical run down for families who still want to take their shot and come here: We are staying at the west tower, the room is ok in size, the shower has a distinctive smell but you get used to it by day 3. They give you two complimentary Dasani water a day. The day we tipped our housekeeping $5, she left us 4 bottles and when we tipped $10 she left 8. Starbucks breakfast is around $50-60 for two coffees and 3-4 pastries, breakfast buffet for family of 4 is around $160. A nice sit down dinner is about $300-400, so far we had costa and shaung ba, and food is decent. A quick lunch grab by trucks or stalls will also be around $100-130 per meal for a family of 4. Our room for this week was around $7000 and our cabanas are $500-600 daily. And we have been tipping the staff who help us in cash as well. The water is beautiful, the waterpark is fun for the kids and the pools are fun to hang out at. Unfortunately for our family, we will not be returning to this place as we will choose to spend our money elsewhere. ——— Below is my review on my 6th morning and I really hope I don’t have to update this on my 7th day, but let’s see what the next 24 hour brings. We went to a sit down breakfast yesterday, I ordered coffee. They brought milk and then didn’t bring coffee for the next 15 minutes. They could be busy, I’m not difficult. My son’s cup of water had bug in it, we asked for a change, it took them another 10 minute to bring him an empty cup. It never got filled. I finally got my coffee after chasing down someone and no one else came to check in on our table, ever, we raised our hands, no one looked our way, so I finally walked over to grab the coffee pitcher to refill my coffee, which then caught their attention? Like when I was raising my hand you conveniently don’t see it, but you can see me reaching behind my table? Ok. The kids had a lovely day at the Baha bay waterpark, we had the cabana by the entertainment zone, I personally think the cabanas by the entertainment zone and wave pools are the best because they are actual structures and not tents, so I do recommend these cabanas if anyone considers cabana on their Baha bay days. The staffs by umami burgers were nice and kind. Because we are so used to getting treated like we are overstaying our welcome anywhere else on the property, I was grateful for them, just asking once in a while, “you guys good?”. Because this trip was planned with a short notice, I wasn’t able to secure dinner reservations every night. Last night we didn’t have a reservation and the concierge said we can take our chances for walk in. So we did. And it’s simply the attitude of the people who are supposed to be in the service industry. Again, I am not expecting a royal treatment but must you roll your eyes, pout your mouth, talk amongst yourselves, snickering, all of that to tell me that you don’t have space? I didn’t need to eat dinner because I was full from the staffs attitudes. But the kids had to eat, so we went to the buffet where they luckily had many seats. We paid, then were told to wait until someone sat us. No one was in front of us, it was just us, and it took the guy who was looking at his phone the entire time, making small talk with his friends 10 minutes to seat us. Before he sat us he proceeded to sit other people so when I flagged to him we were first, he disagreed. Like how can you disagree when we were the first in line? At this point I’m thinking, am I being punked? I’m never the victim but that’s how I feel on this vacation. As mentioned above I have booked cabanas for all days so today we came down at 9:30. We can already see other families in their cabana and towels so I walk over to the towel station to see if someone can help us. And guess what the guy says to me. “The cabanas open at 10, so why don’t you give it a minute.” The food service opens at 10. Not the cabanas which I know for a fact. Normally I would point it out, but it’s my last day and I literally have no more strength to point out things that do not matter to people who work here. I said give me the towels and I will walk it over. And I did that because I feel here people don’t take you seriously. I walked the towels over myself and then saw another towel attendant helping out a couple in the next cabana, I asked the towel attendant if it would be possible for him to bring us a few more towels, and I walked the kids over to the beach. We came back 90 min later to no extra towels and our complimentary water left out, there is a fridge but no it just stayed out and got warm. Maybe they don’t want people like me to come. This is how I feel here. Uncomfortable, unwelcome and most importantly, disrespected. Another tip for travelers, this is a cashless resort, but you need to tip people in cash if you want extra towels, beach umbrella, etc. No one has cash, there is a cash exchange machine which you can feed it $100 and it gives you $20 bills. Nothing smaller. This is how they roll. I asked housekeeping if she has change and she said she only has 10s. So bring your change. My kids are having a great time so I will leave it at that but I will never be back, so management, don’t bother replying to this message as you didn’t bother yesterday. I don’t know why so many of your staffs are so unhappy but if customer service doesn’t improve you are losing out on building loyal customers. You have the right grounds and the amenities to attract people like me with young kids where this can be a repeated destination for years to come. Think about that.
Be the first to ReplyNice hotel with bad service
First time visited about 6 years ago and alot has changed since then. Hotel is amazing, definitely on the pricey side and you would definitely expect exceptional service for your stay. Service is a bitter part here because there is none. We had no light and terrible smell in the bathroom and no exhaust fan. So after the shower time bathroom would turned into steam room. It took 2 days to fix the light and never fixed the fan. You have to make reservations ahead of time or your family and kids will stay hungry for dinner time, likely i had bad experience from 6 years ago. Do not expect great service, politeness of staff with a smile: this does not exist here, you pay mandatory service fee of 15% plus local VAT tax on everything you do/buy. Expect to pay for kids 2x chicken tenders $56- quite normal here. Service bad, never smile and will talk back to you if you ask for more. Workd of Hyatt perks does not work at this resort, they will kick you out sharp at 11am from the room. I would definitely come back for experience, resort, and beautiful ocean just with no expectations of great 5 star hotel service.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful stay
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar has so much to do. Lots of restaurants and bars, 2 art galleries, and events. We loved the stay. Note for others: book restaurant reservations well in advance of your stay, particularly for the higher star restaurants. Loved the beach with the beautiful turquoise water. There are also plenty of pools to hang out in as well. Every staff member we encountered were lovely and kind.
Be the first to ReplyBugs in the room and awful customer service
Shame because I really like this resort (has everything you could want), have been twice before and always recommend to others, but it is not being taken care of. The halls are littered with small garbage pieces (doesn’t seem it’s being vacuumed) and the room is beat-up (stained couch, chairs, ottoman, ripped rug, damaged mirror); worst part, small ants were all over my first room before I complained and got moved. You cannot find a seat at the pool (everyone is struggling…I had to pay over $200 for a daybed). Bottom line is customer service is NOT GOOD and my complaints (most material being the BUGS in my room) have not been dealt with in the manner they should have been when I’m spending over $1,000 per night.
Be the first to ReplyBaha Mar – Some “Secrets” to help your dollar go further.
So, you’ve likely read the many reviews on Baha Mar. You know that Atlantis is akin to MGM Grand Las Vegas while Baha Mar is akin to Aria. You know that everything is going to be 25% more than what you had initially priced out because of the 15% automatic gratuities that are added to everything and the variety of VAT taxes that will be assessed. You probably know that your quoted room rate is just the tip of the iceberg because you’ll also need to add the daily twenty-dollar-and-change housekeeping fee plus the $60’ish resort fee. Bottom line … it’s a great place to vacation but it’s going to be pricey. On our end, our party is a mom, dad, a 14-yr old girl and a 12-yr old boy. Here are a few tips to perhaps stretch your dollars out a bit more here at Baha Mar. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt, so these observations mostly focus on that property. 1. Don’t be afraid to plan meals at the fast-casual Chinese restaurant (Stix) and the fast-casual Italian restaurant (Pizza Lab) as the food there is actually quite good. For the 4 of us, eating at any of the fine dining spots (more on that later) would routinely bring the bill to over $200 (and we didn’t order any alcohol!) once the VAT and gratuities were added. You could probably keep the bill to about $120 or so at these fast-casual but no less delicious eateries. I can’t comment on the only other fast-casual, Sugar Factory, as we never ate there. 2. Of the all the fine dining restaurants we tried (which included Cinko, Cleo, Fi’lia), our dollars went farthest at Cleo. That’s the Mediterranean restaurant located on the SLS side. I say this because they offer a Mezze platter for 2 for $120. It consists of several proteins and sides and I think that it was enough to feed our family of four (although we did add in one more appetizer). So, perhaps two Mezze platters for a party of 6 adults could be enough. In any case, this was the only dinner that we had where the total bill came in under $200 and we felt full (I think the bill was about $175). Moreover, it’s not that it was the only meal that held value, but I thought it was the tastiest of the three restaurants that we tried. 3. Breakfast? Hmmm… Starbucks is always reliable and not really overpriced. Café Madeleine is very good and reasonable and something you should try, although the selections are a bit limited (their best items are the honey-infused fruit plate and the French toast; we were able to get breakfast for under $100 after the VAT and gratuity). If you need a buffet though, there are two. The Regatta and the aforementioned Cleo. IMHO, Regatta is the better option. There are more food options on display. But, in keeping with stretching your dollar, this one is the better value overall. Cleo is $10 more per adult, with a price tag of $55. Also, Cleo’s “adult” pricing starts at 6 years old. Regatta comes in at $44 for an adult, $15 for any child 11 and under. Regatta gets the nod here on every level that counts. 4. The housekeeping fee includes up to 4 bottles of Dasani water brought to your room every day. And, you’re going to want water. Even if you didn’t finish the water from the night before, hide the unopened ones so that housekeeping gives you four more when they clean the room. If you totally run out of water, you can actually find complimentary bottles of Dasani in the Departure Lounge (Grand Hyatt West, lobby level). Obviously, don’t abuse this secret. Take one bottle if you need one. Don’t be THAT tourist. If you purchase Dasani from somewhere on property, that will cost about $4. 5. There is actually a place where you can get some “free” drinks. And, that’s at the entrance of the Grand Hyatt West lobby entrance (by the bell hop). Between 11a’ish and 4:30’ish every day, there is someone there who will gladly give you a cup of either punch (non-alcoholic) or rum punch. There is no tip jar there, but I know that leaving them $1 is something they’d appreciate. Every time I walked from one part of the hotel to the other, I would find a way to make my way past this punch station. It probably saved me $50 in drinks a day that I would’ve spent otherwise at a bar. 6. The casino – although I admit my lack of planning costs me in this department, but I don’t usually bring loads of cash to a casino nor do I establish casino credit. If I feel like I want to play, I usually will take money out of my credit card (I have a card through my credit union that I keep handy solely for this purpose). I bring this up because the fee for withdrawing from your credit card here at Baha Mar is 3% of the amount withdrawn. That is actually incredibly reasonable. Here in Washington DC at the nearby MGM Grand National Harbor, that fee is 7%. And, most of the casino properties in Las Vegas levy 5%. 7. Invest in an afternoon at the Beach Club within the water park. Let’s assume that you plan to be at the water park all day. Let’s also keep in mind that we have the mom/dad/two kids scenario. This Beach Club is a premium experience within the water park. It’s a private area where you can rent an all-day chaise lounge chair for one adult ($100); a two-person day bed ($200); or a cabana (not sure of costs). This private area gives you access to their gorgeous infinity pool and a private bathroom area. But what made this worth it for us is that the entire $200 (we rented the day bed) can be used as food credit while you’re there. The food comes from a beachfront restaurant called 25 Degrees North, so the food is “high-end” as opposed to coming from a hot dog stand / burger stand. Technically, we purchased the day bed so only two of us are allowed in that private area. But the monitors are pretty lax about letting kids come in and out to connect with their parents. In any case, the kids would probably just check in with their parents, grab some food, and then head back to the main water park anyway. So, the $200 entry for us equated to good food throughout the day, private time for mom and dad, wading in the infinity pool (or joining up with the kids in the water park). BTW, while I say it’s $200, it’ll be $250 when you get the bill due to the VAT and auto gratuity. 8. Finally, consider whether this (or Atlantis) is where you really want to go. Let’s say you’re a solo business traveler and you find that you have meetings to attend / work to do from 9a-5p. You won’t then be able to enjoy the water park or the swimming pools (they all close at 6p). Do you then really need to stay at a property like this (as well as Atlantis) that charges $80’ish extra dollars for water park access and 4 bottles of Dasani daily? Or maybe your goal is to try the local island cuisine (like the restaurants of the Fish Fry where a taxi ride will be $22 one way there) more than just once. You may just want to find a different property all-together in downtown Nassau where you can still enjoy the island vibes and proximity to Bahamian culture without being charged all those fees for services you won’t really use and taxi costs that you can otherwise avoid.

We just returned from the Baha Mar. There we many highlights from our stay. Unfortunately the big negative was that my son’s earbuds were stolen from his beach chair by one of the beach attendants. We have proof of this as most people know the Apple ear buds are able to be traced and you can alert the buds to emit a sound. My son did this to the attendant and we were able to trace them to the exact address of this person. Security at Baha Mar could care less. They did not bother to approach the employee and once the buds were off property they told us to visit the police station. Can you believe these people!! After spending the money we are spending at this already over priced resort who wants to spend time at the police station. Hilarious. Why would this resort not want to help us??? Makes one question their morals. I have been following up by email with no reply from the Baha Mar. Shocking. We will not be returning and will discourage others to and warn those going to take care of your valuables. Do not trust anyone!!
Be the first to ReplyOk, but get you with fees and charges all over the place.
The service was overall good, nothing jumped out as great. Only some minor issues, example ordered a refrigerator at check in that was never delivered. Had to go back down to front desk to get charges removed. The food was mediocre and the prices were extremely high for what you get. The room was nice and overall clean. Did have a dirty towel at check-in. Housekeeping was good and they do give you 2 water bottles per day. The bed was below average comfort. The resort is located too far from any town like area, it was over 20 minutes walk to any stores. Now the views were great and the property was nice. It wasn't too big and most things were within reasonable walking distance. They also have a fountain show up front that is ok. Nothing compared to The Bellagio but a nice little bonus. Overall not pleased and honestly would probably not return.
Be the first to ReplyNice Resort, TERRIBLE HOTEL
**Please read before visiting the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. This review is lengthy, but I wish I had this information before booking my stay.** I have visited Bahamas many times in the past, but this was my first stay at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. Previously I had stayed at Atlantis (both Royal Towers & Harbourside) and The Cove. I adore the Bahamas! When we booked our trip to Baha Mar, I was excited to experience the new resort. Unfortunately, our experience at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar was awful. Given the premium price point, I was expecting exceptional service. That is not what we received. DISGUSTING ROOM We had a 2 Queen Fountain View Room at the Grand Hyatt (East Tower). The room and bathroom were both spacious and well decorated. That said, they were not properly cleaned (it is possible they were not cleaned at all). There was visible dirt on nearly every surface. The large rug in the centre of the room was filthy. There was black mould and pink bacterial film in the shower, and dirt in the sink. One of the beds had sheets with several brown stains. We plan to report the uncleanly state of our room to The Ministry of Tourism or Health Department (whichever is more appropriate). HOUSEKEEPING MIA We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar for 4 days. During this time, our room was only visited by housekeeping ONCE (on the second day) and it was clear they did nothing more than make the bed and replace the used towels. On the third day we called for housekeeping several times, and no one ever bothered to come. By the last night we had run out of towels and could not even shower before dinner. My husband called multiple times to ask for towels, we waited for hours and no one came. Finally, at 9 pm towels were dropped off at our room. OVERPRICED CAR SERVICE I would strongly recommend you DO NOT book the car service offered through Baha Mar. While the drivers were incredibly friendly, the service itself was disorganized and overpriced. We had difficulty getting a car and waited much longer (past our pre-scheduled pickup time) than our friends who simply hopped in a $20 cab. On the way back to the airport at the end of our trip the diver dropped us off at the wrong place (despite knowing our destination) and we had to walk to the correct building in the pouring rain. CREDIT CARD FRAUD At The Lynden (cocktail bar) my husband purchased drinks for our group. He kept the receipt. When he checked his credit card online, he noticed he had been overcharged by approximately $80. We reported the fraud and got hotel management involved. While we were able to have the charge refunded, this was a stressful and unnecessary waste of time during our vacation. SOME POSITIVE NOTES The pools and waterpark were both a lot of fun (especially for kids). The beach was beautiful and not overly crowded. The flamingo parade was probably highlight of my child’s stay. The food quality was surprisingly good. We got lunch from the food stands (El Jefe, Barracuda and Da Poke Bowl). Everyone was satisfied with their meals. We had dinner at Cinko and the food was great, albeit expensive. I would say, generally speaking, the food is better than at Atlantis (and similarly priced). SUMMARY: CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE Overall, our experience at the Baha Mar was mixed. If we return, we will certainly not stay at the Grand Hyatt as the dirty hotel room and lack of service made the stay very uncomfortable. It is a shame because the resort was quite nice and there was a lot to do. The service at Atlantis (all hotels) was much better than what we experienced at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. If we give the Baha Mar another chance, (at this point it’s 50/50) we will likely try the Rosewood instead.

We decided to visit after our friends have been telling us how awesome this resort is and that we should join them for long weekend winter getaway. Our arrival at baggage claim by our concierge was wonderful and taken to our private vehicle. Greeted by Renaldo who was very gracious and friendly! At this point we’re excited and very optimistic about our upcoming 5 night vacation! Greeted by our Ambassador Raheem who escorted us to West tower to check in. So far so good. We are now at front desk at 2pm. Ernado warmly greeted us. Explained we could change our clothes and wait or a text when room was ready. We were supposed to have a ocean view with balcony. I asked if he thought it would be very long? AND as always I tip ! he thought if we went to lunch our room would be ready about a hour. After getting up very early , hungry and tired just wanted to unpack and join our friends at pool. Well about 330pm go back Two front desk, and told by or another front desk staff that just waiting on housekeeping to sign off the room is ready. After sitting there for another 3 hrs what I witnessed was just a nightmare! Family after family and couple after couple being told same story. Rooms not ready! Well it is now 530pm and still no room. At around 4pm we were offered a room with no view or balcony. We refused after have waited so long. Anyway, about 6pm Ernado comes up to me personally and tells me he went up to room himself. Hands me two bracelets. I’m literally almost in tears by now. Hug him and thank him profusely . Went to valet and wanted our bags back because we knew weren’t going to have more then 45 minutes to meet our friends for dinner . Huge argument with my husband and bellman because they wanted our room number and demanded they bring our bags to our room. We explained we didn’t have a room number! Finally we are in our room at 615pm in a room with a tiny 50 feet of ocean view with a huge tower blocking our view. This is obviously a long review. I have been back almost a month now and thought about it a lot and haven’t had time till today. I am a retired flight attendant with a major airline and traveled the world for the last 40 yrs of my life. I am the first one to write positive feedback and positive comments especially about special employees! We were three couples meeting for 5 night long weekend. Looking for sun, drinks, fun entertainment! We all are used to paying for top notch service and don’t mind as long as you get what you pay for. PROS:beautiful grounds, loved the live entertainment in piano jazz bar nightly. ( Bartenders amazing there) Adults! Very clean property and room Good high end shopping! Loved the roof top SkyBar on of SLS tower! Adults! Found a quiet exclusive adults only pool which was a beautiful infinity pool over near Rosewood tower. $1000.00 for cabana does not includes drinks of food. Loved Devon our waiter and bartender! Beautiful ocean views! Met a lot of very nice people at bar every night! Marcus Fish House excellent! Enjoyed Vegas style Casino! Love to gamble! Service in high limit was very good and friendly! Actually Won! Rented a private boat and had a blast! Highly recommend getting off property at least once! Took us to a private island with a bar Called Footpints! CONS; Check IN Process absolute nightmare as stated above. Serious issues with rude overworked front desk staff. Employees 50% to 50% good and bad. A lot of them don’t seem to want to be there even with bill having gratuities included. We tipped everyone extra all the time except when really poor Could never get Guest Services to pick up phone and if they did the would hang up on you. Ice Machine was broke our 10th floor the whole stay. Had to go to 9th floor. Extremely crowded in high season. Family oriented with water park which is not a con if your looking for a family expensive resort but we should have done our research. This is not what we were looking for. Our bad. Charged a fee from tennis court and never saw a tennis court. So suggest you review your check out bill. The woman in billing was very helpful in getting us a refund Nicole was her name which I found on another review. Difficult to get dinner reservations so book early out Our friends checked out a day before us and left a brand new pair of expensive designer shoes in there room. So she asked me to help her. I tried housekeeping, lost and found and security with absolute no help! was appalled that not one person in any department had any care or concern. Not cool for a high end property! So we made the best of it and had a lot of laughs on this vacation. But definitely not worth the price which I wouldn’t minded if it would have been a better experience. Cocktails are a average $25.00 each so it’s salty if you like to drink lol Won’t be returning! But if your a family looking for a water park and can afford this would think about off season travel.

Lots to do great options as far as entertainment. The piano bar and jazz bar were a blast.! You did not need to leave the resort. The facility was absolutely beautiful and so clean. Our room had a great view of the ocean. We would definitely go back.

Service from everyone --bellhops to servers-- was consistently great. They all seemed genuinely glad to help and interacted with warm friendliness. Nicest kindest people on this island than we've met in our world travels Pools and beach were wonderful. Loved the conch. Visit fish fry.
Be the first to ReplyAppalling guest services
Inept and rude front desk staff went out of their way to make check in as difficult as possible. No problem solving capabilities. Money and jewellery room theft from numerous guests was insufficiently investigated by security and management staff.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Hotel / Bad food choices
I Love the hotel and the entire place is nice. I am just disappointed that we are in Bahamas and no local food restaurants in the hotel. No Conch no local Grouper or Red snapper . where is the shrimp combo or Grouper fingers. You are in the Bahamas with loads of Cheeseburgers, and Wings and a pizza bar. Getting dinner Reservations is like pulling teeth. if you visit the Baha Mar. spend 20 on a taxi and go to the Fish Fry for some delicious Bahamian Food.
