From the team of Wildair comes this nice bar downtown
From the team of Wildair comes this nice bar downtown that's great for drinks and shareable plates. The Frida drink is a hit or miss - unfortunately it was a miss for me (Don't let the person you're with convince you to get it, which happened to me).Steak Tartare is the thing to get here and was quite good with a really clean tasting steak and gently delicious sauce, creamy, and nice crunchy sliced of bread.Mushroom Pancake had a nice umami, wasn't too crispy but had a slight crumbly texture.Risotto was creamy but a little underdone and i'm not sure if that was intentional. They have a pretty extensive drink menu as well and have a lot of interesting ones- def get your waiter/waitress to help you out with deciding what to get. The setting is intimate and dimly lit, and is great for a date.

So glad we tried this place -- great for small groups or a date. The food was tasty and very unique -- cool to try fusion food. The beef tartare was my favorite although we liked everything we tried. I would avoid the frida drink unless you really like martinis.

Overall this spot was great - cute ambience, delicious drinks & solid dishes. The plates are a tad bit pricey for the size, but that's NYC for you.

Loved the overall vibe here and a perfect catch-up or date night spot! It's not too loud and it has a candlelit atmosphere which makes it really cute. The food and drinks were solid. My favorite dish we ordered was the Pumpkin & Hominy Risotto. The bed of risotto was mixed with some bigger potato-like chunks and the overall texture of the dish was great and home-y. Service was good, nothing extraordinary but they were attentive to our accommodations for food allergies. Would come again if I was in the area!

Stopped by here on a Friday night with friends and I'm definitely coming back! I can only speak to the drinks and vibe, but it had fun music to enjoy and you could still carry a conversation!! Perfect start before going out with friends. All the drinks we had were delicious and service was great. I loved the One Way to Oaxaca and Paloma. Can't go wrong stopping by here!

Absolutely loved everything about here, the fun, bustling, dim lit, cocktail bar ambiance was perfect for a late weekend dinner. The food was also delicious, varied, original and the ingredients were really fresh and flavorful. Amazing cocktails too!

5 stars on all the drinks!!!! These drinks are amazing! And so creative!!!! The staff are so welcoming and the place feels very warm and cozy especially when they turn on all the candles...the appetizers are good as well.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and delicious food.
I'd definitely recommend the lamb shank - it's tender and falls apart at the bone. You can make a delicious wrap. Plenty of drinks options and the desserts are beautiful! A small intimate lowlit setting with closely placed tables - I'd definitely recommend for parties 4 or less!

HELL YEA TEQUILA They have so many wonderful drinks to pick from!!! I tried the what-a-melon and it was divine. Love tequila and they did such a wonderful job with my drink. Environment is lovely. Warm and cozy ambience for drinks with friends or a date. It is a little tight inside if you're sitting at a table for 2 but we came on a weekday after work so it wasn't busy. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of tequila
Be the first to ReplyGreat staff, extensive mezcal options and excellent cuisine.
Really enjoyed everything about this place. Which they were open on Sundays !
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely a new hot spot.
Good looking crowd and amazing food. Been following Chef Ricky Arias for a few years now and he's done it again. Menu was innovative: mushroom crepe and crispy skate were like nothing I'd ever had. Can definitely sense the fusion of Mexican and French vibes. The drinks were also excellent. Had a Paloma Gold I think it was called, and then another... One of the friends at our dinner is a wine expert and commented that the list was extremely well thought out with all the bottles being fairly rare finds and well priced considering. Will certainly be back as long as we can get in, this place is likely gonna be packed for a long time.
Be the first to ReplyIt was our first time here, and it blew us away.
The food is really good with some unique dishes. We ordered 5 appetizers and dessert. Loved the steak tartare, croquettes, grilled cabbage, and prawns. The cocktails were also delicious. And the service is great. Highly recommend.

Been wanted to check out this place for a couple of weeks now and glad I finally did. Service was exceptional, our server was amazing, very thorough with the menu. Food was fantastic and at a great portion too. ย I gave it a 4 stars because there weren't that many cocktail options, and also there was a piece of hair in my ย luchata. But despite that, everything else were fantastic and I will definitely come back soon to try other dishes.
Be the first to ReplyI definitely think this is a 4.
5/5. I made a reservation for a party of four a couple days before without any issues. We came on a Friday at around 8pm! I appreciated that they seated us 5 minutes prior to the whole party arriving. The drinks were phenomenal. I got the Root Down Sour (rye whiskey, sweet potato, cinnamon and cardamon syrup, lemon, egg white and nutmeg) and the Luchata. I enjoyed the Root Down Sour a lot more than the Luchata. My friends all got different cocktails that they enjoyed. ย We got several small dishes to share. A party of four is actually perfect as the small dishes are just enough for four people. 1) Potato and pepper croquettes - We really contemplated ordering more! They were that good. 2) Chicken drums - We had different opinions. I probably wouldn't get this again as it wasn't anything special. We couldn't really tell what flavor it was going for. Two of us thought the sauce was too salty and the other two thought it was lacking in flavor. 3) Mushroom masa crepe - The waiter really was selling us on this and we all understood why. Definitely a must!4) Marinated beets - We were definitely feeling the vegetables. IT was simple. Not sure if I would pay 15 dollars for it again. 5) Carrots - Same as the beets6) Scallop - It tasted refreshingWe split the 2 desserts. They were good, but not sure if I would crave them. The cocktails will definitely bring me back. The food was great too and there are still a lot that I have to try!

The place was almost totally empty, and the rude hostess wouldn't let me sit until my friend who was running a bit late got there. I haven't had that happen in a long time. I left and went to another place around the corner. My first time at Bar Lula, and I won't go back.

Good! Was actually super bummed that The Wild Son main restaurant closed but was excited to try their new concept! We tried a few different cocktails - they were all good, not very strong, but good. They have a pretty long list so would love to try others. The beets were nice, not what I was expecting by nice. The mushroom crepe was definitely my fave! Other things on the menu also looked appetizing though so maybe my next visit will be 5 stars based on my order because the ambiance was 5 star for sure!

I was really excited to try Bar Lula! It's suppose to be the same owners as Goodnight Sonny (my favorite bar in EV) and of course, right next door. We went on one of the coldest days in January (15 degrees maybe?!) and had a reservation at 8pm. We sat at the large table by the window and I would not recommend this on a really cold day. IT WAS FREEZING! I was shivering while eating and drinking. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem most nights but I really hope they are able to get some space heaters etc because it seemed to be the fact that the windows weren't insulated. Sadly, that's why I rated this down a star :( The drinks were creative and fun, definitely giving that Goodnight Sonny vibe and the food was delicious! We ordered: croquettes (delicious, tiny and packed with flavor), mussels (would skip), scallop aguachile (delicious!! but because it was cold and we were cold, it was hard to appreciate it as much lol), beef tartare and roasted octopus I had to skip because of my nut allergy but the rest of the table gobbled it up! The prawns were perfectly cooked and the sauce with it gave it a nice flavor. The mushroom crepe I would skip... it's just a flatbread with mushrooms.. nothing overly exciting and reminded me of pizza. The winter carrots were a great vegetable choice as well! Who doesn't love a roasted carrot. Overall, great small plates, good atmosphere for friends, great drinks just really cold! Will be back.

Overall not bad, 3 star just because I like Wild Son (previous establishment, I think they rebranded) much better. Drink menu was more fun, appealing, and boozy.Cabbage was okay, very saucy.Carrots was good.

I had a 12-person birthday dinner here and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Service was amazing, our server was constantly checking up on our party to make sure we had the chance to order food/drinks. The cocktails were incredible and the food was absolutely delicious. Highlights include the roasted octopus, prawns, pepper croquettes, mushroom crepes and beets. Vibes in this place were also great. The music was at the perfect level so you could still have a conversation but still feel like you were in a lively spot. I will definitely be back here soon!
Be the first to ReplyMy new go-to in the East Village and is now going to be one
My new go-to in the East Village and is now going to be one of my top recommended spots. It's under the Wild Son parent company but delivers a whole new (and imo better) experience. Here's what you need to know:1. The cocktails are top tier. I still think about the horchata cocktail all the time. The food delivers (see more below) but the cocktails can hold their own if you're looking for a new spot focused on tequilas and mezcals.2. THE FOOD. Everything that we ordered was on point. From the mussels to the red pepper croquetas.... and then the mushroom masa was the star of the show.3. I repeat get the mushroom masa...4. The vibes make this the perfect first date or hangout spot. I will be trying to come back with everyone.5. Staff is super friendly.Bar Lula is now at the top of the list... which is rare for newer restaurants. They got it right on the first try and it's absolutely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyStaff, food, mezcal options, all amazing! Skip the scallops.
Loved the beef tartar and all the veggie dishes are . One of my new fav spots in NYC. Cozy atmosphere. Alberto's the best!

Had my birthday dinner here, party of 2! We got the roasted octopus with pistachio mole, the agave roasted squash and the lamb neck (huge portion and came with lettuce cups (so darn cute) to give a fresh balance). A little sad that the whole fish was not available since I'm not a lamb person but i was satisfied by all the dishes! Couldnt take photos since it was dark (good for date night) but the restaurant was generous with giving us two free shots of vodka! Here's a pic of the chocolate tres leches. Waitress was very nice and accommodating! I didn't get her name so I can't give her a shout out but you know who you are haha.
