Lovely spot, classic food (with a modern touch) and very friendly staff
The menu here is pretty simple but the food is done very well. Reasonably priced with great service and in a really nice atmosphere, definitely worth a visit.

Bar Primi was great. Our dishes were all prepared well. Service was excellent. Friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is pretty tight, so lots of noise But that did not detract from the fine meal we had.

Branzino, Branzino, Branzino! Literally, one of the 2 or 3 best dishes I have ever tasted! It was so good that when we return, we are going to start with that. That being said, the meatballs and sheep's ricotta was wonderful as apps. I had this spaghetti pasta with clams that was dangerously good. Our server Brandon could tell it was our first time and took the time to have a "menu journey style" dialogue, that shaped our evening of ordering. We cannot wait to return. Forgive us for the pics. We started eating before we realized we wanted a pic.

Great Italian restaurant. Food was truly excellent. Nothing wrong. Outdoor seating is a plus. Would definitely return.

Had a late lunch booking here. The restaurant is in a great location if you want to do some shopping Pre or post your meal. The decor is quite Italian whilst being a bit a up beat. We all had pasta which were good without being amazing. Service was also good, regularly enquiring if we needed more drinks etc.

An excellent Italian restaurant in the West Village- superb penne bolognaise and the best Tiramisu I have ever eaten. Ambience and service wonderful and great for families- will return

Family meal here using my UK Amex Platinum offer. This was the least upscale restaurant we ate at on our trip but with the best food and service by far. The young lady from Boston at the bar and Christopher C our Server made the meal extra special with friendly and attentive service. We sat outside as we had a dog - obviously its noisy - you are in the city! Food was great - service was amazing. Thank you.

My husband and I just went to Bar Primi for Dinner earlier this evening. We had just gotten out of the car after traveling into the city and the table we were sat at was outside, quiet and cozy, perfect. The service right off the bat was friendly, and accommodating but not overbearing. Tommy, Aaron and Carlos saw that everything we needed or could possible want was accommodated. Then there was the food… we had arugula salad, octopus, pastas and and Bronzino. Get the Bronzino. Just do it. Finished with amaro’s and some lemon sorbet. Couldn’t of asked for a better meal or atmosphere to start off our NY weekend. 1000% recommend to anyone looking for classic, flavorful, fresh Italian in the city.

Tommy and his team took wonderful care of my wife and I for dinner. The food was incredibly flavorful, the cocktails perfect (try the original frose) and the amaros for dessert we're truly a treat. Aaron and Carlos have built a great team and you'd be foolish not to go see what they and Chef AC can do.

Loved this place on a weekly basis in 2018 and 2019. Still enjoyed it during 2020. Was looking forward this evening to the beginning of a summer term of gustatory enjoyment when the following incidents took us from surprise to shock and then to indignation. It started with the arrival of the bottled still water. Ostensibly imported Italian water (Oh, stop it. You commit the same Carbon Footprint sin with wine or chocolate or travel or whatever.) We learned from living overseas that if the server doesn't bring an unopened bottle of water to the table then you're paying for tap water. And that's what the Bar Primi server did. Thinking we're just tourists, he had no idea that we know what NYC water tastes like. Shame, shame, shame! I shudder to think what they may be doing with wine. Then came the 'Hey, how come we aren't getting any bread and olive oil this time?' Sigh. And after forty minutes, the arrival of an order of spaghetti pomodoro and one of linguini with garlic. The pasta on both was cold. Not room temperature, cold. The spaghetti was palatable only because the sauce had been at a near-boiling temperature. The linguini had no sauce and no heat. Also, no taste. The addition of seventeen shaved membranes of browned garlic does not add taste; it adds a nasty metallic pang. Not flavor. We would've loved to have mentioned this to a server but for 15 minutes, there were none within hailing distance. I suspect they knew there was a problem and avoided us in case we decided to give them some hail. Want to know how to have a good time at Bar Primi? Come with at least three other people, finish at least two bottles of wine and you'll never notice what's wrong. You have my blessing and my envy. P.S. The outside seating is painfully loud. We were so bored from lack of service that both of us downloaded a decibel meter app and discovered that on a Monday evening, it never dipped below 68 and was often in the 80s.

Had the bolognese and it was the best pasta dish I have ever had! Service was great and loved the ambiance

Food and service here are both good. Lots of good pasta selections. Two are house made -- the orecchiette and the agnolotti. Both were very good. The arugula salad with dried cherries, almonds, caprino was good too. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant is right next to the Bowery Hotel.

My boyfriend and I were in NYC for a long weekend now that things are starting to reopen (we’re both vaccinated).
We had a reservation and were seated right away. But it took almost 20 minutes for us to be acknowledged. From then on, everything took just slightly longer than it should have. Our server was lovely and friendly. It was just...slow.
The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. We enjoyed everything. Just would hope the service could be a tad quicker next time.
Wonderful brunch!
Loved this place! First time visit. Really enjoyed the selections and food was delicious! I had the meatballs with fried egg and polenta. So warm, comforting and filling. The sauce is soooo good. Others had the baked fried eggs, pepperoni frittata and crabmeat lunch. We were all happy with our choices. Laid back atmosphere. Great service. Nice vibe. Topped it off with Boboloni! OMG!

We went because it was listed in the new Michelin Guide and it was convenient. The Buratta starter was outstanding, and the focaccia accompaniement was also outstanding. The pasta was Al dente, a very good thing, and good. The server was very professional as well as being personable. She recommended an excellent wine. The noise level was so high my wife and I were daunted. The cackling was evident above y din. The pacing of the meal was very fast. Too fast in that the pasta was clearly ready before we had finished the starter. Happily, the server waylaid it before it got to the smallish but wide table. We will return when it's not restaurant week to see if that makes a difference.

Had a delightful lunch after tour a museum. Festive environment and food choices make selections difficult as it all looks delicious.service was good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service— but mixed reviews on the food....
Walking into Bar Primi is a feel good experience—the room is warm and inviting—until the jarring and overly-loud music hits. Maybe start by toning down the music or changing it out for something that better fits the visual ambience.
We started with an order of Brussel sprouts with pepperoni and grated parmesan—probably the best version of this dish we have ever had. Definitely a winner.
Sadly, the food was downhill from there: Two complimentary meatballs were truly boring. An order of squid ink campanelle with crab and slices of a solidly hot pepper was reasonably tasty but really gluey. While the tiny clams on the spaghetti and clams were sweet and fresh, the pasta and sauce were uninspired. Even the bread had little character.
There is a short but well-selected wine list—the nebbiolo was a good vintage.
Our waiter, a student at Baruch College, was sweet, attentive, and professional
We skipped dessert.
Dinner at the Bar
Bartenders are extremely attentive and serve great cocktails and dinner. It’s easy to go in alone or with a friend and sit at the bar for drinks or a full dinner. The chef’s selection of pasta dishes is excellent.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious brunch!
Four of us enjoyed a delicious brunch. Must-haves include the ricotta pancakes, potatoes (incredible!), pomodoro and the egg scramble with egg. And funny enough the decaf coffee was tasty! Excellent place!
