Another great dinner at Bar Primi.
The first time didn't disappoint so I had to come back and bring a friend to experience the great food and service. The experience was great yet again. The grilled octopus, branzino, and spaghetti and clams were amazing!

Made a reservation for a solo dinner when I was in town for work and was seated right away. The host was so sweet and seated my by a window because he said it was the best spot for people watching. I started with the stuffed meatballs and they were SO good. Meat was tender and the sauce was delicious. Highlight of my meal for sure. I got the rigatoni carbonara for my main course which was not one of the pastas the waiter suggested when I asked him. I will say it was good, but something about it had a strange flavor/after taste. The guanciale in the pasta was incredible though. Serves me right for not taking my servers recommendation! Overall, loved the vibe and would be back again for the meatballs.

Wow. Just wow. Small group of couples in our early 40s. This place was amazing. Our waitress hosted us amazingly explaining the menu since some of us needed it. This is not bland food for the masses, this is amazing. We had Brussels, arugula salad, the broschut, the squid-ink pasta (spicy and excellent), some outstanding red wine... phenomenal experience!
Be the first to ReplyBar Primi is a decent spot for italian fare.
I came here for Sunday brunch with friends, and it was easy to get a reservation. It was not too crowded so you may not need a reservation. Service was good and attentive, and the ambience was very nice (bright, clean, spacious) and perfect for a brunch. It felt cozy inside. In terms of the food: Ricotta crostino 4/5: very decadent ricotta with a little bit of honey, truffle, and hazelnut on a crunchy piece of bread! This was really delicious and nice to try. Felt rich and light at the same time! The sandwich 2/5: this unfortunately wasn't it for me. My main complaint is the sliced beef... it was dry and completely flavorless. The sandwich tries to compensate with a bit of sauce and a decent pepper jam, but I really didn't enjoy the beef. I'm also not that into the brioche-type bun that the sandwich came on. Sandwich is a decent size but definitely disappointing from a flavor profile.

Bread and olive oil appetizer was honestly my favorite part of the meal. You just can't go wrong. The carbonara was pretty good when hit but unpalatable when cold. They use plenty of guanciale, but the chunks are too big so whenever you bit into a piece its like eating porky seawater. The sauce was too watery and didn't coat the pasta well, but the pasta itself was al dente and clearly homemade. 6.5/10
Be the first to ReplySolid spot for a nice dinner after work.
I had a reservation with a group of coworkers for Tuesday evening and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant has two floors and we were lucky enough to be seated in a cozy corner upstairs. Our table split a few appetizers, including the Sicilian Tomato Rice Balls, Beets, Buratta Cremosa, and Grilled Octopus. Every dish was great, though my favorites were the rice balls and the buratta (the bread that came with it was so fluffy!!). For my main, I ordered the popular Squid Ink Campanelle, which was delicious and had a nice kick of spice, though there could have been bigger chunks of crab. Pasta texture was great and the dish wasn't too salty. I also ordered a Fellini - nothing super special but light and refreshing. The restaurant was pretty busy when we were there, but the space is large so it was pretty easy to get a reservation for our group of 7. Would recommend!

The Italian restaurant offers well-executed dishes with commendable service in a cool atmosphere. Food: The culinary experience at the Italian restaurant was commendable, with well-executed dishes presented thoughtfully. While the flavors were satisfying, nothing particularly stood out as groundbreaking. Service: The service was praiseworthy, as the staff provided attentive and accommodating assistance. The hostess, despite a full house, graciously accommodated a last-minute switch to outdoor dining, enhancing the overall positive dining experience. Atmosphere: The restaurant's atmosphere struck a delightful balance between laid-back and chic. The cool ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of the evening, making it a pleasant place to unwind and savor the Italian culinary delights.

Really good italian food! Nothing extraordinary about the brussel sprouts in my opinion but the pecorino pasta was pretty delicious! Reasonable price for the portions too. Also enjoyed the whipped ricotta toast.

Ambiance We arrived on a Thursday at 5pm with a group reservation for four. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty but within a few minutes it filled up. We were seated upstairs. The restaurant is pretty, snug and comfortable. The booth chairs were a little too soft, so at time I felt like I was looking up to my friends from across the table. Otherwise, the restaurant had a healthy buzz of happy customers chatting away. Service Matt was our server and he was A++. Water was constantly replenished, dishes came out quickly. Service was friendly. We had a lot of coats and didn't know they had a coat closet/check. If we had known we might have asked to put some of our coats away. Food The food was delicious. Fresh, well made pasta and sauces. The meatballs were delicious. We had the bucatini, parpadelle, orriechiette, and cacio e Pepe. We all enjoyed our main courses. For dessert we had the budino and tiramisu. SO GOOD! Cute spot for date night or out and about with friends.

Be the first to ReplyAnother great italian spot.
Can you find the same exact menu at any other italian spot in the city? Yep. Can you get the same vibes at most other italian joints? Yep pretty much. Nothing is remotely or inherently "special." It ticks all the boxes you would expect it to. Does that mean skip on it? No way! It is quality food, wine, service, prices, and vibes. Im just saying theres a million other places exactly like it. Will i be going back? Not running, but sure!
Be the first to ReplyNot bad, not good.
A very average experience all around. Brussels sprout app was ok, pasta was fine, service was meh. Just a very unremarkable experience.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place and have loved it for quite some time.
Just a great crowd pleaser with a fun atmosphere for a night out on a date, with friends or family. The bolognese is my favorite with the cold cheese on top and I don't think I'm alone. Not going to absolutely blow you away with food but everything is very good and the prices are mid level.

Server was very helpful. Drinks were refreshing. My pappardelle pasta was the absolute best.
Be the first to ReplyBar Primi had decent Italian food for a good price but it
Bar Primi had decent Italian food for a good price but it definitely wasn't the best I've had. We got their Sicilian Tomato Rice Balls for an appetizer. It was crunchy on outside but a little too mushy on inside for my liking. The rice ball itself could have had more flavor but the pesto underneath it was flavorful! The Cavatelli in vodka sauce was pretty good. The pasta itself was cooked just right, but the sauce itself had more tomato flavor than creaminess. It made me question if vodka sauce is just better suited for pizza:)The Cacio e Pepe was buttery with a hint of cracked black pepper. It was great if you're into subtle, not really a burst of flavor!
Be the first to ReplyOVER RATED PASTA .
Not the best pasta you can get ! Prices are ridiculous and drinks arnt even that great . Service isn't that bad but they should get better servers on the floor who knows what they're doing . Wouldn't recommend at all.

My fiancé and I went here to celebrate our anniversary during New York's restaurant week, everything was amazing!! The service was absolutely exceptional. Our waiter was extremely attentive. The food was top tier! Our favorite from the restaurant week menu was the Spaghetti, best pesto pasta hands down. If you're looking for great Italian restaurant, this is our new favorite go-to, in Lower Manhattan this is it! We can't wait to come back & visit.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now & it didn't disappoint. Apps were good portions & drinks are made well. Pesto pasta was buttery & delicious. Service was great too!
Be the first to ReplyThis might be the easiest 5 star review I have ever left.
.. everything we ordered was incredible. Started with the arancini and the fresh mozzarella with prosciutto which were both incredible. For the main entrees we ordered the fusilli with pesto, the ricotta angliotti, and they were able to modify that to make a gluten free version with penne as well! The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. Definitely coming back to this spot!

Satisfy any craving for Italian food - the menu has all of the options you might desire. While prices are on the higher side, the food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the kale insalata, which combined the kale with apples, roasted garlic and walnuts, along with the grilled octopus, that came atop potatoes. A perfect place to sit at the bar, order a glass of wine, and enjoy a meal of good, high quality food.

Returned to finally try the squid ink pasta, which not only looks amazing, but has stellar reviews. It's $27.50, which is insanely expensive considering the portion size and amount of crab in it. I was quite surprised it was just "meh". The pasta is cooked Al dente, which is great, but the flavor is so so. I didn't find it memorable at all. Would definitely skip next time.
Be the first to ReplyPretty tasty food and great service.
We got a prefixed menu for large groups, my faves were the ricotta with honey, arugula salad, orecchiete, and penne ragu.
Be the first to ReplyWent here the other night for dinner.
Food was alright, nothing to write home about. I ordered the chicken Marsala and wow was it salty. The rice balls were tasty though. Ambiance is nice and the gelato was honestly some of the best I've ever had. That being said the entrees me and my group ordered just weren't that great.
