Great experience
Visited during a weekend to London based on a friend’s recommendation. Arrived around half 6 and waited about 15 minutes for seating. The queue was crazy from then on, with people nearly queuing out the door so I think we arrived at the right time. Really enjoyed the whole experience including watching the chef’s at work. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. Loved the tinto de verano. Staff were friendly despite being so busy. Would visit again.

Cool energetic atmosphere upstairs. Much quieter downstairs. The service is friendly and attentive. Nice wine list. We ordered Marinated Olives 5/5, 8 Ham Croquetas 4.5/5, Pimientos de Padrón 3/5, 15 Chipirones 4.5/5, Txistorra 3/5, Chicken Thigh and Romesco 5/5.

What a great restaurant! We went for lunch and were lucky to be seated opposite Ben (the chef). Every dish was superb - croquetas, mackerel, cauliflower cheese, tuna and particularly the turbot. For pud, we had the basque cheesecake - the best cheesecake I have ever had! We had the opportunity to ask lots of Q’s - all answered with aplomb by Ben and the team Can’t wait to come back

Waited for 40 minutes for 1 plate. Ordered one of the specials and they delivered to other customer then asked me if I ordered. Never apologized. Sitting here still waiting
Be the first to ReplyGood but expensive
The food was excellent, but portions were very small. The wine was good, but the glasses were just 125ml and the markup was high. Bacalao balls, croquettes, mackerel and two small glasses of wine came to £61, which is a bit steep. Service was very good, with the friendly staff knowing how the dishes were produced.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime - waited in the queue for about 20 mins, but had a drink and watched the world of Soho go by outside. I was so pleased we waited. We ordered loads but everything looked & sounded so delicious we couldn't choose. Pan Con Tomato - best ever, pulled pork rib croquettes, the skate wing special - which was really substantial. Chorizo potato & watercress was my highlight, my partners were the mussels on the special and the chicken thigh. Our server was friendly, incredibly knowledge and very attentive. We had a bottle of Tremendus Rose, which was indeed tremendous! So fab we had a carafe as well. No room for pudding. We stayed for ages as we had a window seat which was just perfect for us, music on the comings and goings outside. It's not cheap but in my opinion really good value for top notch food and service. highly recommend and would go back next time we are in London.

Incredible food and service - would definitely go back! We got there about 4.30 on a Saturday afternoon and waited until it opened and managed to get in straight away. Even if you do queue on the sides once opened, you can order drinks and snacks! It’s worth the queue and the hype!
Be the first to ReplyThe Old Name in Spanish Tapas
The best branch of Barrafina group. I always have the chipirones, octopus, tortilla and iberico steak. Do also try the excellent cava as well.

Came in without reservation and they accomodate us very quickly, stunning food, perfect service. We had just fish dishes and they were cooked perfectly. Lovely evening!
Be the first to ReplyQuality food, great service but at a price
Wednesday evening before a show the Squeeze and I thought not too heavy Spanish tapas would be idea. Restaurant opened at 5pm and when we got there about 5.40 all circa 25 seats were occupied by animated diners who appeared to be having a good time. We were seated by 6pm (had drinks while we waited) and the staff- plenty of them - were friendly, informative and seemed in control. We shared four dishes - baby gem + anchovies, Monkfish, prawn & piquillo tortilla, and chorizo, potato with watercress - plus bread, a Negroni cocktail and two glasses of wine (alcohol was £33 before service) and food bill was £56. So total was £87 + 12.5% service making a grand total of £97.88. It would have been easy to spend more.
The place had a lively buzz and we found the food and service excellent so absolutely nothing to complain about but obviously it all came at a price which many will consider high when compared to other top tapas places.
Bad food any price but at these .. daylight robbery…don’t go
This is actually for Barrafina at Coal Drop Yard, Kings Cross, but looking at the reviews, I don’t think that matters .. the issues with this chain are systemic. I accept that I will pay more for this location and in London in general and I am happy to pay the 30% more for the same quality …what I can’t accept is paying extra and getting less. £19 for 5 limp and sorry looking excuses for Gambas covered in some tasteless orange oil and that burnt garlic others have mentioned. garlic & salt on everything in attempt to cover up poor cooking skills and more likely ingredients- I was so thirsty afterwards I was drinking water for days. The best and only slightly generous thing was the four slices of fresh tasty sour dough - actually matched our number unlike every other sharing plate which had odd number of items thus requiring wrangling amongst us either trying to split it or debating who should get the last one. Just terrible. DONT GO!!

Thoroughly enjoyable lunch, today Tuesday 8th March. Food and staff both excellent, as was quality and selection of food.
Be the first to ReplyAbysmal service - they don't really care about customers, you're just one in a faceless queue waiting to hand over money
The food is good, but the service is absolutely abysmal. The waiter had forgotten to put our order through to the kitchen - so of course 30 minutes later, we enquired about our food (as they should come out fast, tapas style).
Got a half-hearted apology from another member of staff. Who then put the order through properly.
But no offer of a free drink. The original waiter, while serving our dishes later and also bringing us the bill, did not offer any apologies. Nor offered to take the service charge off the bill. When I mentioned I'd like the service charge taken off, he just agreed - again, no apologies offered at that point.
Another staff member did come by to ask how our food was. And we mentioned it was good, but the waiter forgot to put the order through and there was a long wait. Again, a half hearted apology, and an excuse "oh we have new staff". This on a Saturday evening, where they should definitely not be deploying any new staff.
While the food is good, there's no shortage of good Spanish small plates in London, with better service, for the same price point (which is not cheap by the way, I'd say mid to upper range). So why come here?
Barra finished
Awful experience. Overpriced, overcrowded, bad service. Cannot imagine this having a Michelin star. Trouble being seated, no service during the wait, food with burned garlic literatelly leaving one with a bad taste in their mouth. 'Forgot' to write down a part of the order trying to blame it on the customer.
Never ever again and not recommended.
Superb
Saw this recommended on a Youtube video so decided to try it. Did not disappoint. Very friendly staff and although we had to wait a while to get a seat we were well looked after by the host who was great. Food was amazing and it's a great opportunity to sit and see what's going on. It's what I would call an expensive meal (with wine) but well worth the money for the experience. Looking forward to going agin.

Fantastic atmosphere at the counter watching the chefs do their thing, the quality and consistency of the plates was first class as always and service excellent. One of our favourite restaurants in London.
Be the first to ReplySpanish tapas
This place has great Spanish food. It does usually have some wait time so I would recommend getting there early. The nice thing is that while you wait they still serve you drinks and appetizers. They have great typical Spanish dishes. I highly recommend they’re meats selection. It is also great for sharing. Although since it’s bar service I would recommend taking a big group. They also have a gray service both while you wait and while you’re eating.
Be the first to ReplySpanish food on steroids
There are plenty of times where the atmosphere is overrated. Here the atmosphere is excellent. Loud, busy, and full of life. You can see how they prepare your food, if you sit at the bar. If you have to wait grab a wine as you stand for your opportunity to eat great Spanish food, it’s worth every minute. This place is a Spanish dinner on steroids. That’s a good thing.

What a fantastic return visit. Great service and the food was fantastic.
We felt comfortable and the kids enjoyed sitting at the counter.
Wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant!
