Refund not provided
Does anybody know the name of the owner of this place pls??? We were charged 2000 pounds for the event, no food was provided at all! No refund! It was a disaster!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible. Cancelled our wedding reception, no contact.
Booked our wedding reception for July 2024 here. Received an email yesterday saying the venue has unexpectedly closed, refund for deposit would be done. However phone number given is out of service and no reply to numerous emails and messages on other platforms. We are now out of pocket with 7 weeks to go to our wedding. Absolutely distraught.
Be the first to ReplyTotal shambles, rude staff, booking not honoured - AVOID!
The worst experience we have ever had at what is supposed to be a decent London restaurant. I highly recommend NOT booking this place, especially if it will be difficult to find an alternative on the night (e.g. Saturday evenings). We booked through the restaurant website for 8pm on Saturday evening. We arrived on time. At that stage, it because clear that the restaurant hadn't actually bothered to reserve us a table. We were told to sit at the bar and have a drink whilst they tried to find us a table. At the bar, we tried for ~25 minutes to order a drink, but nobody came to serve us (despite us asking multiple times). When somebody finally came, the restaurant had no beer or cider, and very limited wine options. That person then walked away almost immediately without taking an order. It seemed under staffed, and at one point, two staff members appeared to have an argument right in front of us (one was actually leaning between my wife and I during the argument - all very awkward). By this stage, we still hadn't been seated. Given the huge delay, we thought it would take forever to get our food. People were also approaching the bar to ask for their bills, suggesting that everyone was having a shoddy experience. For these reasons, we decided to give up - I said to the bar man that I think we were going to leave - he replied with "I think that's a good idea"! Trying to find a table last minute at 8.30pm on a Saturday in Notting Hill was, of course a nightmare - not helped by the rain. In summary, the service was a total shambles, and nobody there seemed to care. It ruined our evening (and was embarrassing given that we were taking a family member out who had flown to London for the weekend). We certainly won't be going back.

I'd wanted to visit this restaurant for ages, so after a trip to Portobello Market, we headed there for brunch. Unfortunately, the whole experience was very disappointing. The place looked scruffy from the outside. The big lamps were wonky and there was no overt signage on the awning or door and rubbish was blowing across the terrace outside. Once inside, we had further indications of the lack of professionalism we were going to experience. It was a warmish, sunny day but in the four fireplaces, the imitation gas fireplaces were going full blast which made it way too hot. Our breakfast tea was brought up in nice teapots but we were given bistro glasses to drink from because 'they didn't have enough cups & saucers'. This was around 1.30pm and there were around 15 people in the restaurant and three servers that we could see. Because we couldn't hold the glasses, we insisted and were given mismatching cups and saucers of different sizes and colours. After seeing one meagre piece of toasted sourdough with mashed avocado arrive on the neighboring table (£14.95 seems way too high for one slice), we opted for the cooked breakfast which was decent . But it was clear that the chef had no clue how to scramble eggs. They'd clearly cooked the bog standard fried egg and then just broken it up. There were three serving staff and they didn't seem to have a clue. They didn't come back and check if everything was okay, you had to get up and go ask them for help. They just didn't seem to care. Everything seemed too much effort, which makes me question the levels of hygiene too. Avoid the toilets if you do go here - they were dank and smelly with water all over the floor and no toilet paper. Such a disappointing experience.

Went for a birthday celebration for someone special. Asked waiter what cocktails were, then told there were only 3 and then went to the bar to look at the spirits and a whole cocktail menu appeared. No vodka, no soda water and not even any plain water! Not many veggie options and menu online does not reflect real life at all. Overpriced and cocktails taste watered down, very disappointing
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue for 21st
Had a 21st in the Ballroom. It was fantastic, start to finish. Great service, beautifully looked after, everyone had a brilliant and hats off to Tansie for all the attention to detail. Could not have been better
Be the first to ReplyWorst establishment I've ever visited in my life.
AVOID! Just a quick glance down the reviews tells you everything about this place. Worst restaurant / bar I've ever been to in my life. Horrendous service, absolute rude staff - talking to me like I'm an idiot. The drinks tasted watered down - I make better in my own kitchen and don't pay the disgusting prices that I got charged here. Please do yourself a favour and avoid wasting your time, money and energy.
Be the first to ReplyOh dear, not good!
How does this restaurant survive! It is run so very badly! When I walked in nobody greeted me, I sat at the bar which had 1 very slow and unfriendly barman who was serving 2 people, then over the next 15 mins other people came in to join this group and he carried on serving them never once saying he would be with me in a moment. I reached out to another member of staff who reluctantly took my order and made me an awful margarita (he had to look at the recipe!) he wasn’t friendly either! My friend arrived, she had booked a table but they didn’t have a booking system and told us to sit anywhere. During our meal (which to be fair was nice) the restaurant filled with smoke which made our eyes water it was so thick, some people left. Staff opened the front door to let the smoke out but it happened again after half an hour. We laughed about it because it was so unbelievable badly run, like Faulty Towers! But definitely not worth the money or a second visit - DON’T GO!
Be the first to ReplyAwful service.
Awful service! They didn’t have any Rose wine, the air conditioner wasn’t working and the whole restaurant smelt of burnt oil and was filled with smoke! We have to send all our clothes for dry-cleaning as they stink. Worst of all was the attitude of the waiter! He was arrogant and rude and couldn’t care less about the satisfaction of the customers! What a waste of an evening!
Be the first to ReplyBeach Blanket Babylon has now got to be the worst restaurant in London let alone country wide!
I made a dinner reservation for two at 7.45 Friday 3rd February - we arrived at 7.25 to enjoy a drink at the bar. It was surprisingly quiet and the front and rear of the bar was full of used, dirty drinking glasses. Nobody greeted us or even spoke to us so after 20 mins and still sitting at the bar, I asked the guy who had seen us several times but not spoke (even to say, sorry we.ll get to you shortly) His response was we are short-staffed so speak to the Direction (management) so I said does that mean we can’t get even a drink? The response ‘not possible’ A lady had arrived 10 mins before us who had not been spoken to either. We then left the venue and returned to our Paddington base with a planned enjoyable evening ruined by this restaurant who clearly don’t worry about taking reservations knowing they can’t serve the clientele. Please don’t waste your time going there.
Be the first to ReplyWorst restaurant experience ever
I actually had the misfortune of seeing a few reviews on route to the restaurant the day we dined there but had hoped for the best. Honestly anyone reading this do not go to this restaurant it’s beyond awful. Service extremely slow. We waited 45 mins for drinks . Many of the wines of the menu were out of stock too. We had a simplified menu. On asking why we were told the delivery has not arrived that day. Food was another long wait. Over an hour. Only 2 of the 3 dishes arrived to start so we had to wait on the final dish. The food was beyond awful. We didn’t eat it. Chips stone cold. The cod dish was also cold and the chicken dry and overcooked. It had 100% been sitting around for a long time! Staff just didn’t seem to care, they weren’t rude but it was just like that was the norm! Apparently the owner was sat in the bar.. not sure if it was him but if it was he didn’t seem to care that everyone around was complaining. I honestly hate to leave negative reviews but I just want to avoid anyone else having the same experience.
Be the first to ReplyFiftieth birthday disaster
I was there for my 50th birthday and apparently the staff had been made aware of this by my husband when he booked. There was an event upstairs for a group of people and myself and my husband and another table of 5 ladies. After we made our order the waitress came back and said that there was no soup and so he had to change to pate, and no egg for the chicken Milanese. The starter took 45 minutes to arrive and wasn’t very impressive. There was a long wait for the main- we think about an hour at which point the oladoes on the other table were politely asking where their food was. They were told it was on its way. 15 minutes later they left ironically as their food arrived 5 minutes later. Our lunch then arrived, my husband had an over cooked dry chicken escalope and my fish curry did not taste of fish. I then asked for the menu and the sauce that should have accompanied the chicken was absent. My husband then asked for a beer only to be told that there was none. We were not offered an alternative. We asked several times to speak to a manager, this was clearly ignored. A complimentary bottle of champagne was offered as the waiting staff could see we were upset, but we politely declined. The staff set cutlery for a complimentary dessert but 45 minutes later it hadn’t arrived. I was partly convinced that we were being secretly filmed for ant and dec but I’m afraid that was not the case. I can’t celebrate my 50th again so will make sure nobody else puts themselves through this terrible experience
Be the first to ReplyNever again!
Worst restaurant in London! I was here 10 years ago and it was amazing. Now I really can’t recommend it! 50% of the wines on the menu weren’t there. We finished our appetizer before we even got our drinks, they also run out of mayo and ketchup…. We also told them that we never experienced such a bad service but they didn’t care at all!
Be the first to ReplyAvoid, unless you want your evening ruined......
We went there last Saturday night for dinner, 4 of us. We booked a table for 8.00pm, sat down, took forever to get offered a drink, finally a waiter came and took our drinks order and gave us menus. We ordered food, and we sat, and we sat, and we sat, now it is 9.30pm, asked to speak to the manager, who came over. I asked where our food is, he stated, sorry we have run out of the four starters you have ordered. Not a good start !!. We were fuming, so we said, fine just bring our main courses. Again we sat, and sat, its now 10.30pm and no food. The manager came over and was very transparent, we haven't got the food you ordered as our suppliers haven't delivered the food to the restaurant today. I will leave this with you as to why no food had been delivered. To say it was a disaster, is an understatement !!! What a demise of an iconic restaurant and bar AVOID !!!!

Absolute hole of a place. Dirty seats, ragged menus and very reduced menu as no supplies in kitchen. Abandoned our reservation and walked out.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful evening.
Went and took the team for a business night. We were spoilt! Dom our waiter was attentive, always checking in and smiley- Connor on the bar was great, his espresso martini’s are to die for. Manager Nigel organized us a special treat afterwards- goes to show the care that the BBB team puts into their guests. Regards to the chefs too whose food was delicious and fast. Whole team was impressed. Will come again.

We have eaten here about 5 times in the past year or so. We always walk in and always get a table. But something has changed recently. The place had an amazing feel to it and the service was incredible. We are so happy to finally see it reach its potential. Had the sirloin steak and it was delicious. Complements to the chef and a the whole team. Can’t wait to go back.

This place need to be shut by the low because is using freelancers workers to keep going with a freelancers chefs , waitering , and kps working for free. As the platform who is providing all freelance workers for the owner. That is stated here that he was a new owner. But is not. He is always the same one who owns a million of tax to HMRC Free to Google it … Beautiful trip advisors people Please don’t end up. Paying for a service of this business because is a dodgy business This business owns me 1550 for my work that I have done it as chef in his dirty kitchen One of the worse condition that I never seen in my 15 years of freelancing

I booked a table last week for my wife’s birthday today at 2.30pm for lunch Having travelled from Kent we were looking forward to a special day out . I’ve been to this restaurant some years ago when it was somewhat of a destination restaurant , worth travelling too , with good food and exotic ambiance So was looking forward to introducing it to my wife and daughter. We arrived at 2.15 to be told that the restaurant was only open for drinks and not serving food until 5.30pm at the earliest due to some problems with the door locks . The guy who greeted us was apologetic and that’s as far as it went . To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Look we understand things can go wrong but for heaven sake , they have our telephone number and email address so communicate with your customers . Let them know . Don’t wait for people to turn up and greet them with bad news . Apart from this we have nothing else to comment on other than the name of the restaurant is conspicuous by its absence . We ended up going to Gordon Ramseys restaurant in Heddon street . They greeted us with welcome arms with no reservation despite it being full . Great service , great food , professional and courteous staff even the hostess picked up on the fact that it was my wife’s birthday and without even asking , surprised us with a little treat and candle . Now that’s what you call service . Wake up Babylon
Be the first to ReplyThis is a lovely place with delicious food and cosy atmosphere and great service
Came for dinner and drinks and was really impressed by this place, quality of food and wine and new Manager from Ireland has changed this place. Highly recommend the Wild mushroom risotto and have a good choice of wines by the glass.

The drinks were delicious, the customer service provided by Quentin was exemplary and it was a great experience overall

Everything changed not only the sofas! I found a new manager, ge wasn’t kind at all and this is the last time I go there. Too expensive

Went to bring in a 40th birthday with drinks as we like the look of the restaurant but left earlier than planned to celebrate elsewhere. Highly disappointed with the service and staff attitude. Had informed about the birthday when making the reservation, called and confirmed again. Yet when we ordered dessert, there was no effort to put a candle on it to celebrate or a wish by staff or anything at all - something even the most basic pubs in UK do. There was no beer available, food order was messed up and staff seemed to just not care. When you ask someone if there is a special event, the expectations are that you will make it special - and hard to miss with a group of 5 wearing t-shirts saying 40th birthday! Not that difficult to put a candle on dessert, just bad attitude.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service, meals half plated up and food poisoning
I went to Beach Blanket Babylon for a birthday meal with friends. We sat down at 7pm and did not even receive our mains until 9:50pm. During this time they had multiple meals and drinks unavailable, the service was awful. They said there was only 1 chef in the kitchen, but really, that is not our fault. They brought out meals without half of the ingredients on the menu on the plate, and only refunded 2 meals (because they were completely wrong) and the optional service charge! I think it may have been the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. They lied a couple of times by telling us the missing salad for the steaks was going to come out in a second and it never arrived! To top it off I contracted food poisoning from my meal there and when I emailed to alert the restaurant, they did not reply.
Be the first to ReplyA glimpse of style in Harry Potter Land
There are few places left in London who haven't lost their dignity. BBB is one of them. A true bohemian at heart, with a variety of different styles to choose from according to mood, it takes me back to a London that had something to say. And said it in a clever way. The food is delicious especially combined with those imaginative cocktails that sometimes bear the name of the mixologist. The staff is brilliant. Each one with a personality to fall in love with. But I think the real star is the owner. A true Londoner and a gentleman who is behind the place's originality. Its style. Its story.
