worst service ever. Can't comment on the food since we never got any.
We had dinner reservations for two at 7:30. We were sat at the bar right next to the DJ. Had to wait around 20 min to even get water and put in our drink orders. After a full hour we still hadn't put in our food order. We ended up calling another restaurant while we waited and left at 8;30 without getting a chance to even order food.

We ate here a couple of times back when it first opened and enjoyed ourselves and just returned after a couple of year absence. The layout had changed (some of the old space is now occupied by "Good Funk" a wine bar) but the feeling and ambiance are the same. We thoroughly enjoyed the Baba Ganoush and the Hummus, both were different than the usual/traditional preparation but were very tasty. Next we tried the Halloumi and the oyster mushroom kebab. The kebab was excellent, the Halloumi was good by my least favorite course. We were planning on ordering some fish dishes next but we were too full to eat any more. The tamarind margarita was excellent. All in all a good return visit to Beatnik.

The food and service was very good. The interior of the restaurant was very interesting and was expecting belly dancers to perform (there were none). Despite being on a quiet weekday the place was no very busy, but the music was far to loud for the few dining patrons.

The evening started out a little frustrating - we had reserved a table, received multiple messages asking us to confirm, only to wait a half hour past our table time at a crowded bar where it was hard to get a beverage. Then they proceeded to rush us throughout our meal because they wanted to turn the table again. The food was good, not great; interesting-ish menu but you'd probably get better food at an actual Middle Eastern restaurant; heavy on carbs and fat. Ambiance felt a bit theme-park-y, with loud music more suited to a club. Expensive for what it was. If you are looking for Mediterranean food in West Town, go to Marrakech on W. Chicago Ave. instead.

We felt our server Tony M was irritated and not interested in serving us. He was barely gave us any suggestions of what drinks we could have without mixing the amazing ones listed in their menu. I wanted to try Playpen and it has cinnamon, so I asked Tony if there was any alterations to this drink and he gave this disdainful look and barely offered any other ideas of drinks. My friend's drink was loaded with so much alcohol and our Server, Tony M never came to check our drinks at all. When we were ready to order, which was very soon after having our drinks served, he passed by and I got notice of him and he had this irritated look. I quickly said we are only ordering two dishes so he paused and then said "fine' What kind of attitude is that? Never checked on us after our meal was served. The food was mediocre, nothing amazing. The service made the whole experience awful. Try finding more friendlier people that smile more and take the time and patience to listen to the customer's needs.

After a loooong travel drought due to covid, my husband and I were able to visit our friend in Chicago for a much needed binge of theatre, museums, and great food! The first place we experienced was Beatnik, a Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant in the Fulton Market area. Beatnik was truly a sensory event in every aspect. Beautiful decor, fun music, massive plants, overstuffed pillows/seating, chandeliers, melted candle "structures", colorful tile work...a visual display. Service was immediate and on point. Thorough, efficient, and never invasive...perfect. Kudos to Lexi Z and team for exceptional attention. And the food! Oh my! We began with cocktails--a " Little Red Dress", a "Fig Za'atar Old Fashioned", and a "Spiked Coconut"---very tasty and pretty strong! We ordered stuffed medjool dates and smoked Banana Ghanoush for starters-- an excellent choice. For our entree, we shared their Lebanese style roasted lamb with tatziki, hummus, pickled veggies, and nan. More than enough for three with take-home for another day! Such an amazing overall experience! What a way to reintroduce ourselves to travel and friends. It is pricey but we'll worth it. Make a reservation and spend lots of time enjoying every element of Beatnik!

If you’re in the Wicker Park area in Chicago, you’ve got to go to beat Nick. What a wonderful place.
Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere is really funky.
Recommended.
Pleasant surroundings, good service, nice food, eclectic menu and good cocktails. We enjoyed the brunch menu and tried oysters (excellent), the ceviche con leche de tigre, cantonese fried rice, pan con tomate and the smoked baba ganoush; they were all really nice.

Bohemian Brunch Paradise
I recently had brunch here while visiting my sister with my family in Chicago. It was a lovely experience. The atmosphere at Beatnik is Exquisite. It has an open air indoor/outdoor setting with tons of greenery and lush decor. There was an excellent dj playing during our meal. I had the Moroccan Pastilla and it was very delectable. I highly suggest it.
Mimosas were yummy and the cinnamon roll dessert was also divine! Gem of a restaurant!
Interesting Mediterranean menu
Our party had reservations for 4, and were seated at a communal table for 8 (during pandemic!). We declined and were reseated at an uncomfortable table, then experienced mediocre service.
Menu was very interesting, some items executed well, and others lacking flavor. Standouts were the stuffed dates and the baba ghanoush.
Very impressed
Love everything about this place! Absolutely Amazing food, the coolest atmosphere, and wonderfully awesome staff. You must go!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ! Impressive decoration!
This place is surprising. I would improve the façade because it seems abandoned from the outside. HOWEVER the inside is wonderful....lots of plants....lots of lights.......so so beautiful! I was so impressed.
Food was great but they dont have ESPRESSOOOOO..WHYYYY???
Overall, a great experience!

One of my favorite restaurant in Chicago and elsewhere. I always look forward to it and can’t wait for my next visit. Beautiful restaurant and delicious food, love the music.
Be the first to ReplyThe bar tenders are creative
Ask the bar tender to make you a drink that inspires them. They are creative and good. Can't go wrong. Happy St.Patrick's day!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Venue and food
Beatnik is one of the cooler venues I’ve seen in west town, which is saying a lot. The jungle vibes inside are matched by the small plates menu and cocktails. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale but fun place to get drinks and food
