Booked a resy for 7:30 for our anniversary.
Came early to have a glass of wine at good funk (which was awesome). But then headed over to beatnik for our dinner. Got seated at the bar next to the dj (instead of actual restaurant) and waited over an hour and still no one took our order. We ended up calling another restaurant while we were there that was able to seat us right away so left at 8:30 without ever even getting a chance to order food,
Be the first to ReplyEverything was bursting with flavor.
We also got the ribs & the chicken. Soooooo flavorful. Drinks made well too.

I've been here a couple times now, both with groups larger than 6. The first time we received better service than the second time. The second to me was 6 days ago and the server was friendly, he just didn't come by nearly as often as he should've. The food is always pretty great. This time, I got the double cheeseburger and it was so juicy and delicious! The fries were good too. I also had a Saturn, which was their cocktail with gin, so refreshing! Parking is easy to find around this location.
Be the first to ReplyThe vibe was right especially dining in the sun room.
If you're having brunch it's a must to request to be seated in the front sun room. It doesn't seem right eating in the back dark dark room during the day. The food was delicious! I would pass one their side of fries though. It lacked flavor and was the soggy type. Everyone enjoyed their entrees- avocado toast added bacon, granola and yogurt, the winter squash breakfast bowl, mezze board, tuna crudo, and falafel. We enjoyed the ahi tuna and falafel as an appetizer. The server could have visited our table more often to check in on us. Our main brunch entrees came out oddly one at a time so we didn't quite get to enjoy our meals all at once without starting ahead and/or wait. I had iced tea and wasn't offered a refill. Their coconut speciality cocktail was a let down, they ran out of the fresh coconut by noon. We were done with our meal for a bit waiting for our check. Service was the only thinking lacking especially while giving a 20% tip + the 3% surcharge. I would come back with less expectations if it was just me and one person but this time I had out of town guests I was treating out to enjoy one last brunch in Chicago.

It's hard not to notice the bohemian ambiance when you first walk in and then seeing all the plants. It was really cool. We were sat in the back so we had a chance to walk through it all and then while seated it was nice to take it all in all the while immersed in conversation with great friends. They recommended family style so we were with it. The standouts were the short rib tagine (by far for me) followed by the yellowtail tiradito. The server was on top of things but the staff was overzealous trying to clear our table before we were done eating. Without exaggeration, we had to shoo them away at least 5 times. It started to become annoying. Otherwise, it was a lovely evening.

We've always liked this place - great service and a beautiful bohemian ambiance, especially for fellow plant lovers! - but have only been for dinner, so we finally stopped in for brunch recently and absolutely devoured everything we ordered. If you haven't been for brunch, do yourself a favor and correct that! The GM, Evan is awesome - he came and introduced himself, walked us through the recently updated brunch menu, and showed us the new Good Funk natural wine bar space adjacent to the restaurant. For brunch we split the smoked salmon dip, mezze platter, avocado toast, chicken and waffles, and shakshuka (my personal favorite. get this with the sausage!!) The bread pudding as the brunch "dessert" was also melt-in-your-mouth good. Thanks Evan and team - my husband and I are already planning our next brunch date here!
Be the first to Replycame for a birthday party of 6 and brought a birthday cake.
Food was just ok appetizers were good but very small and there was a long period of time as each was being served. Ordered 4 entrée and all over salted and very small for the dollar amount so with the tip we spent 450.00 and by the way they wouldn't let us cut the cake, they needed to do it for 30.00 extra. As for the ambiance , beautiful restaurant and service was fine but for all 6 people very disappointed in the food .

Welcome to your next vacation! From the moment you walk through the door at beatnik, you immediately feel like you've stepped into a Mediterranean escape. The eclectic decor transports you to an adventurous foodie experience. With a creative cocktail list and delicious dinner menu, your taste buds will most definitely not be disappointed. I'm doing a dry January so for this visit, I opted for one of there several non-alcoholic options. (But I'll be back to taste their other cocktails which I watched them make several and they look beautiful in creation and sound fantastic). I tried the snooze button which was a coffee lovers dream! For our meal we kicked off with the baba ganoush which was amazing! Beautifully plated but tasted even better than it looks. I love a dish that includes pomegranate seeds and pine nuts. To compliment our spread, we also ordered the ceviche which might be the best ceviche I've had anywhere in chicago. If you love tuna ceviche, this is a must try! For our main, we went with the steak kebab. Perfectly cooked and paired with walnut muhammara and chemen chimichurri. It's sure to satisfy your appetite. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Be the first to ReplyWhile overpriced, the food was decent.
What wasn't acceptable was the aftermath. I was getting up from the table after the meal and hit my head on a large, sharp, wood overhang. Right by the table. It shouldn't have been so low and I can't imagine I was the first to hit it. It wasn't a graze. It knocked me back. Sharply. I was stunned and later called the restaurant to let them know. Nobody answered. They were open. Nobody picked up. Left a message. No response. Nothing. Tried multiple times so that others don't concuss the way I did. While I didn't need stitches, it bled and left a welt that is still prominent two days later. Headache lingers. Poor form and frankly, not not only poor service, but a safety risk.

I'd read good things about Beatnik West Town, so was eager to visit on a recent weekday evening. The food was good, but the ambiance, yikes -- not my scene! VIBE: 1*. Dimly lit would be an understatement. Way too dark for me. I don't get why restaurants with good food don't turn the lights up so diners can appreciate it. Then there was the pounding beat of the dance music. Unpleasant. SERVICE: 3*. Staff were courteous and helpful (though I occasionally had trouble understanding them over the music and noise from other diners). There were a couple of delays in getting drinks and food, but overall it was OK. FOOD: 3.5*. Baby Gem salad had an interesting mix of ingredients and good flavor, though it was creamier than I prefer. Feta stuffed dates were a winner, nicely balanced and delicious. Chicken Musakhan was nice, with excellent flavors. Broccolini tasted fine, but was undercooked, with tough stems. There was a good selection of wines, including a few by the glass. Dark, noisy restaurants are not my thing. I won't be back, good food not withstanding. My dining companion summed it up succinctly as we departed: "I couldn't wait to get out of there!"
Be the first to ReplyFood: 8/10 Full flavors and seasoned well.
The menu is very typical Mediterranean and not anything too out of the ordinary. The summer squash was delicious but made with a lot of oil. The drinks were refreshing but made with lots of ice. Service: 9/10 Service is very standard. Our waitress was full of personality and easy to talk to. She did not mention that the pita bread refill was extra but it was only $3 so not a big deal. Ambiance: 10/10 Darkly lit with yellow light from chandeliers and candles. The music was at a nice level and there was a DJ but I think he was there just for show. Overall a great ambiance and would be a great date night spot. I would recommend coming here for big groups. This restaurant is also super causal.

Amazing! If you are a boujee foodie, you need to check this place out. Incredible atmosphere and spectacular specialty drinks.
Be the first to ReplyI went to Beatnik for a girls' night out.
It had a beautiful interior and dim lighting with a classy vibe. We ordered one smoked baba ghanoush ($19), one ceviche con leche de tigre ($22), one smoked nopales noodles ($21), two scallops with Jamon Iberico ($48 per each serving), one dry-aged ribeye ($87), 1 Brussels sprouts ($18), and one wild mushroom ($18). The server gave us another order of wild mushrooms accidentally, and let us keep it. Woohoo! I think they change up their menu items because I couldn't find some of the dishes I tried on their online menu. For the drinks, we ordered a love my children cocktail, frozen Spanish coffee, and a sloe bun. The drinks were strong and delicious, especially the Spanish coffee. I was nervous about all the negative reviews I read, but I had a lovely time with my friends! The food was a lot better than expected. The flavors were on point, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was also great. The portions are pretty small, so I can understand why people may think the value may not be worth it. I think it's great to go here as a group so you can try different types of food. I'd leave broke and hungry if I went with one other person. Overall, it was a lovely time, and very happy with my experience.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great.
Service was friendly. Ambiance was amazing. Even our 2 and 3 year olds loved it.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is really cool and great for large groups.
They recommend doing family style to try a lot of dishes which I agree with. The steak is not worth the money, it was over cooked and very fatty. The oysters were delicious though. Lots of fun cocktails too!
Be the first to ReplyI love this place just for the atmosphere.
Dark, sultry, and exotic is the perfect backdrop to a wonderful evening out. There are plants, candelabras, chandeliers and colorful tilework. The menu covers are handmade. The carved wood adds unique texture too. The cushions along the couch seating just add more layers of comfort and allure. When we walked in, I noticed the bartender who looked over and smiled, creating a nice welcome feeling. We wandered further in, to the host desk, the bartender came over to ensure we were assisted by his colleague. I like that kind of consideration. We chose couple of their specialty cocktails. The names are fun and I could tell they were expertly created with fine ingredients. I had the "Playpen" which was a perfect blend of vodka, cherry, pineapple and citrus. My friend tried the "...Or You Just Happy to See Me". It was a bourbon and spice drink that she said she loved. We shared an appetizer of Baba Ghanoush. It was delicious! The extra toasty pita bread triangles and the fresh pomegranate were the perfect combination of savory and sweet.I am looking forward to returning for a full dinner or brunch sometime soon.
Be the first to ReplySuch a fabulous place.
Decor is incredible. We were seated and after ordering drinks were told that we were "between brunch and dinner" so menu items were limited. Feel like we should've been told that when we first walked in because we would've just gone to the bar for drinks. However we did enjoy the Baba Ganoush was delicious with bits of pomegranate in it!!! Will definitely go back during regular dinner hours. The place is beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyWay too loud music for a restaurant.
It's not a night club. You can't even talk sitting next to each other. They have jacked up their prices a little too much. At such rates, they need to up their game. Their restrooms are quite messy. You can tell a good restaurant by its restrooms. At the kind of prices they charge, they can't treat me to generic bulk gross hand soaps and no napkins (forget about high quality) to dry my hands with. And for god's sake - keep them clean. This is the second time I had to wait for more than 25 mins for my table when i had a reservation. And was lied to - "we are cleaning up the table" and then after 15 mins "the guests are just paying their bill". All good restaurants pick up phone when you call them. They never do or answer to voice messages. So no way for me ask a couple of questions I had about food allergies before hand or ask for something special for the occasion. Good stuff - ambience is nice and quite unique. Food - I'm not a good judge of that since I'm a vegetarian. I personally don't like food that is too sour, but their cuisine calls for sour food, so I shouldn't comment on that.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to see the uniqueness and beauty of this
I really wanted to see the uniqueness and beauty of this restaurant. And it was the only place open late in the area that I knew of at least. Unfortunately, most of the restaurant was closed at that time and only the small bar space was open. The drinks were delicious. And the decor and vibes were so great. I'm sad I couldn't see the whole thing. I'd like to come back so I could get the full experience.
Be the first to ReplyHaving been a loyal customer at Beatnik over the last 4
Having been a loyal customer at Beatnik over the last 4 years I was shocked at my last experience. My partner and I stopped in for a drink after a dinner celebration, late night. We sat down at the fully staffed bar and weren't given water or menus until 5-10 minutes later. When I ordered a gin and tonic, I expected the beautiful Beatnik gin and tonic garnished with herbs and fruit. Instead I was given a dive bar version of the drink with an old lime wedge. The bartenders were inattentive, curt, and nonchalant. Worse than the drinks and service was the fact that the staff of the restaurant was getting WASTED at the bar amongst the customers. Several times one staff member would run behind the bar, pour a drink and shots for himself and his friends, then would sit back down at the bar, teetering, shoving, and shouting across the customers to his friends. My partner and I are both long time service industry workers and we understand the need to decompress but no customer wants to hear how you found each other passed out drunk on the bathroom floor a couple weekends ago. The bill was $100+. My previous experiences with this restaurant group have been great so it saddened me that Beatnik should fall to such low standards. It will be a while before we return.

Very cute place! Love the design, lighting & decor! Especially for the holidays with family. Nice usage of wall tile as well as floral arrangements. I dig the color story! I feel like I know who this designer is but I can't remember. Anyway, had a great time at Beatnik for my sisters birthday today! My sisters tried the ceviche and vegan chilaquiles. Parents and Grandma split the fried chicken baos and Cuban breakfast sandwich. And my nephew had a double cheeseburger! Everything was tasty. We also tried sticky buns and the brownie. I'm stuffed! My favorite was the baos. Not sure what drinks everybody was having but I had a Mezcal pomegranate cocktail and that was awesome! Friendly staff and nice hospitality experience. The place is pretty big too it's good for family and or friends parties and events.Oh by the way my family really enjoyed the music as well. They were playing old grooves like Kool and the Gang and my dad wouldn't stop singing plus drumming on the table haha! Fun times!!Thank you

Walking in, I just KNEW this experience was going to be enjoyable and tasteful. I went with the SEOUL juice which was incredible. Blueberry lavender syrup... you really can't go wrong! Our table wa ready about 15 minutes after our original reservation time but honestly... the cocktail was so good I didn't mind at all! We sat on these gorgeous comfortable couches with cushions and enjoyed the hummus & cauliflower spread, cocktail of life (seafood cocktail) and finished with the baked alaska!
Be the first to ReplyI have been coming to Beatnik for years now and I
I have been coming to Beatnik for years now and I absolutely LOVE the food here. The atmosphere is one of the best in Chicago and the service is outstanding, Why then, you might ask, am I not giving them a perfect five star review? Me and my fiance returned to Beatnik this weekend for brunch and both decided to skip the cocktails and each got a coke. The coke showed up flat and in a tiny glass, which I usually wouldn't care too much about.....but we get the bill and they have charged us $14 for two cokes.....two flat cokes. I asked the server thinking that this obviously had to be a mistake. Nope......they charge $7 for a Coke OR a sparkling water. This blew my mind - I have never in my life seen a restaurant charge this much for a fountain drink. Had I known this (because they don't list the price), I would have never ordered a coke or would have ordered a cocktail instead. As much as I love this place, I find it really shady to stick your customers with a $14 bill for two soft drinks. This is the kind of thing that will keep me from returning to a restaurant.

Great music, with a mesmerizing view. The food is absolutely magnificent. I got the babaganoush and chicken kabob. You have to try it out.
