I love love love this place.
So lovely. Good service. Swanky, romantic, etc. etc. just go! Maybe follow up with some weird but thorough entertainment at the Slipper Room around the corner! Very NYC experience.

The interior is beautiful but once it hits busy time, it's a bit chaotic since it's such a trendy spot. Everyone is there looking good, the space feels sexy, the drinks are strong. The food is really good, they do Asian tapas really well, the dumplings and the tacos were my favorite and the bone marrow was impressive. Head for the bathroom when you feel like you might have to go in 15m cus there's a long wait but it'd not horrible bc it's cute and a lot of places to take selfies in

We came here for our anniversary in November 2021 so it's been a bit of time but we really enjoyed our experience. Decor is really chic and the service is really lovely. We had the wheel of different desserts which was a great array of artisanal treats yum!

I have had this place bookmarked for the longest time .
I finally came here with my friend to celebrate her birthday . We ordered West Point oysters and bone marrow for our appetizers . The oysters were fresh . The bone marrow was decent size . I ordered the lamb chops and my friend ordered the beef Wellington . I was a bit disappointed in our entrees. The lamb was seasoned well but was really fatty. My friend had asked for her Wellington to be cooked rare but it was more medium rare. The outside crust was not crispy but soggy . The service was not good . Our server was giving us attitude due to that fact I think he felt like we weren't ordering enough food and drinks . We were wanting to order dessert from their menu but it was lacking. In the end , we decided to get boba milk tea . The restaurant decor and ambiance is perfect for date night or to celebrate a special occasion . However, I would not come back here to eat again .

Extraordinary attentions, we ordered the Essex cocktail.
the food is something amazing something totally different. super dessert!!!
We had wanted to try this place for a while as it talked about a lot. Itโs very cool and buzzy. The service at the bar was great and friendly. Then things went downhill. The service in the restaurant was very poor. Food was average. Lots of big groups were getting all the service no doubt because thatโs where the big tip was. Wouldnโt go back

What an amazing experience! Dinner was excellent.
Ambience was fantastic. it is a little loud but didn't bother us. Our server was so attentive and food came out quickly. Will definitely go here again!!!

Since this restaurant is in the Tao group, I knew it has to be good. The ambiance is so unique in the inside. You first walk into a pawn shop and then it opens up to an elegant restaurant with such a chic ambiance. The service was helpful and really nice and also very quick. For drinks, I got the sun slip which was really good. For food, I tried the Korean style tacos with Chilean sea bass and they were amazing. For entrees, I tried the BBQ fries and the surf n turf. The BBQ fries were really good and addicting! The surf n turf was good and the meat was cooked nicely but there just wasn't that wow factor in the dish. Lastly, for dessert I tried the butterscotch ice cream with coconut whipped cream and I loved it! Such a unique dessert. Overall, I'm happy with my experience here and would recommend this restaurant to someone looking for a great ambiance and really cool dishes to try. Definitely dress up!

Speak easy experience
Unusual but unique place with a speak easy feel. You enter a pawn shop and behind a door is a massive restaurant, bar and club for 300 people. Resident DJ with pumping tunes with great service food to be shared family style. Great cake ferris wheel for desert. A great experience as well as food.

Great Food, & Drinks w/ a Cool Vibe
We sat at the bar for an early dinner. Food & cocktails were great. Val served us and had great recommendations on the food and was super attentive even thought the bar was very crowded. As mentioned, you enter through a very small pawn shop with some cool jewelry and guitars. Inside is a very large space with multiple levels and different seating types. The lighting in the bar is perfectly low and relaxed. Food was incredibly good - far beyond what we expected. We did several small plates...tuna poke taco, salmon ceviche, Korean tacos, empanadas. All were fantastic! We will definitely be back!

Celebrated my sisters birthday here and it turned out to be a success! When you enter through the front there's a pawn shop where you can actually buy stuff which I thought was cool. We were pretty late for our reservation but they still accommodated our party and got seated pretty quickly. The ambience was very sophisticated and had a very New York City vibe to it. THE FOOD! The food was impeccable! I wasn't really expecting much quality in the food but I was sorely mistaken! We ordered multiple appetizers and drinks over and over again because it was that good. I got the steak cooked medium and it was perfection! The dessert wheel was so cool and delicious too! I'd come back here for the food alone! The only thing I didn't like is that it was very loud in there, I felt like we were having dinner at a club. If that bothers you then you should take that into consideration but other than that it's a great place to celebrate with drinks food and great company!

Food was just average, nothing great.
Service was good, staff was attentive. There were no performances when we went, not sure if this was because of COVID-19. However you can visit once.

OMG I LUV this place! I don't want to ruin it but this is one of those hidden gems and you have to experience the whole thing in person. This is an absolute romantic, group of friends, ladies night and anything else you wanted to call it place. So much going on and the crowd is cool, as my son would say, it's a VIBE! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, look for Michael I believe his name is. He was an AMAZING server/waiter. Knows his food, drinks and portions. The food is so amazingly good, flavorful, want to try everything. I would suggest ordering many plates as we did just so that you could taste it all. You won't leave unhappy. We had little French dips, sirloin, Gruyรจre cheese, au jus., grilled cheese dumplings, the house salad (I could have eaten all of that easily), ribeye. I feel like I left something out but that was more than enough food for two people. When visitors come to town, show off this place! Well done TAO Group!
Three of us had the burger and it wasn't good. They also struggled to serve the right person the burger they ordered (eg no bacon or cooked medium). Tacos, and Mac and cheese were just basic too. The Peruvian chicken was great. Three stars because the ambiance was nice and didn't feel rushed through dinner and drinks.

So I've been meaning to try this place for years but it was always off of a whim and weren't able to get reservations for dinner. So my husband and I finally were able to dine there Friday. Made reservations that morning for a 10pm table. Weren't able to get anything earlier. Now the ambiance and decor, beautiful. Vibes were very energetic. Felt like the city prior 2020. Great music. Food was tasty. Not a vast menu though. Reasonably priced. Definitely a must try and a go to for great weekend & fun vibes.

I've been here for dinner twice now, and both times were a great experience. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive on both occasions. We got a wide variety of drinks and everyone was pretty pleased with their choices. The menu seems a little eccentric on first glance, but everything we ordered tasted good. We had the grilled cheese dumplings (10/10, each person ended up with their own order), chicken arepas, broccoli, crispy miso eggplant, NY strip, chicken meatballs, and corn ravioli. They suggest sharing plates amongst the table, which we did for the appetizers and sides, but we each got our own entree. We got the donuts for dessert and those were delicious! Soft and warm and the dipping sauces complimented them well. It's easy to rack up a big bill here, but the atmosphere is fun, the interior is exquisite, and being under the TAO umbrella, that's not too surprising.

I came here with my wife and her friend for dinner.
We were very satisfied with all of our food. Excellent cocktails with a good amount of liquor. We shared 4 dishes and 2 deserts. We all said every dish was wonderful! Definitely will come back again
The whole ambiance is amazing, the only reason why I wouldn't give 5 star is because of the loud music. Otherwise the service, drinks and food were amazing.
๐
Honestly, had higher expectations for this restaurant.
Food is overpriced for the quality. It was not worth the price in my opinion. Also vibes were strange here. You can really tell they are owned by the TAO group. The atmosphere is dark and seems like it would be romantic. However, there is a dj blasting club music throughout the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I love dua lipa but it's just strange that they're playing pop music you'd normally be dancing to.

I visited this place for my Birthday.
The ambiance is so beautiful and relaxed. It was definitely a chill vibe. The food was also pretty good. We got there a little later than our reservation and had about 15 minutes to order so we had to rush a little to order but the waitress was great.

I went once in 2017 and once in 2021.
It truly was an amazing experience both times I went. The second time I went with a bigger group (5 people) and they were accommodating. We waited at the bar for them to text us that our table was ready. DEFINITELY MAKE A RESERVATION! My group and I always get a bunch of appetizers when we go out anywhere and I loved that B&E are willing to serve the appetizers family style. We must've had like five or six appetizers between all of us and none of them were bad. I remember the tomato and cheese ball soup which was great and they served us individual portions. All of us had different drinks, which were divine. Whenever I go back to NYC, it's definitely my go-to place to have dinner.I WISH I could remember my server's name. I believe it began with an A. Might have been Alex or Allie but she really made us feel special with her attention to detail and pride in what she was doing. We made sure to let the manager know as well. You won't regret coming here.

This place looks like a literal pawn shop when you walk in, but once you go through the door past security, you arrive in the beautiful entrance with a spiral staircase and stunning chandelier. The restaurant features a DJ, giving the place a nice vibe. My friends and I ordered multiple dishes to share, and all were good. The Mexican corn ravioli was the runaway favorite. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
๐
Food and service could have been a lot better
The general atmosphere was good but unfortunately the food and service did not hit the mark. I had been recommended by a couple of people so was expecting more.
It is always a good time and a good vibe when you visit this restaurant. The food, the drinks, the staff and the ambiance is dope. Shout out to the DJ because he truly be vibing and playing the good music. My friends and I absolutely love this place. Great place to celebrate and or grab drinks and take cute flicks.
Great concept, beautiful decor, and thatโs where the good news ends!
We arrived and were seated in the first dining room on our own in an area that smelt of vomit. When asked to move, this felt like it was an imposition for the server and we were subsequently shoved in a tiny table facing the backs of the people in the adjoining booth. The table was also unstable and required rectification by our server upon request. No wine list was provided with the food and set menus, prompting another request to our server.
After about 15 minutes, we left before even ordering. The vibe was stiff and awkward and for something that is owned by the Tao Group, I expected a lot more. Perhaps other dining times are better however Brunch was a total fizzer.
Really, really disappointing and a total waste of time!!

Great environment. Great service. Great food. Whatโs not to love. Itโs a must attend for me. .
Such a great experience. I first found beauty and Essex in vegas so was excited to get to the NY one. Then entrance is iconic. As soon as you pop through the doors the restaurant is big. Lovely set up. Plenty of space.
Menu was ace - highly recommend the beef wellington to share.

Amazing experience from start to finish, as you enter a thrift shop in downtown NY, look around and then open the door at the back itโs like going into another world, the decor and the atmosphere is just incredible and very well thought out, the food was amazing, the beef Wellington is a must, cooked to perfection, we will be back next time we are in NYC

More style than substance
Was so looking forward to my visit here as so many friends had recommended it.
Ordered steak and had to send it back 3 times as it wasnโt cooked correctly
Was super embarrassing experience
Also
My partner had completely finished his meal before I had even gotten mine
Will never return wasnโt work the trek downtown found it overrated
