I was excited to try this restaurant because it had great reviews. My husband made a reservation for my birthday using resy. A few days before our our dinner the reservation was cancelled by the restaurant without reason. He called and left 3 messages and an email in order to reschedule. No one got back to us. It was incredibly disappointing

Food took over 70 minutes to come out when we were one of the 2 tables in the restaurant. I guess they forgot our order.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, flavorful food.
I've right by this restaurant every day for over a year and it's always bumping and I finally went for it. It's surprisingly cozy inside, definitely not a stuffy environment and the people working there were just really kind. Our server walked us through the menu and gave us his recommendations while never pressuring us one way or another. We ordered the straciatella, prosciutto and melon, and then we each ordered the patty melt since it's something they're apparently known for. Everything was even better than expected and had unique flavors! Also love their cocktail list! I just wish we'd had more room for dessert!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good.
The salad was really refreshing. The pork chop was very tender and the sassou chicken had wonderful flavors, beans are not my favorite so can't comment on that.I had to quickly reserve here since we had change of plans, casa Enrique is always booked, so quick search around the neighborhood for Michelin. This is a Michelin guide recommendation, not Michelin star rated.
Be the first to ReplyJust really not good I am very sorry to say.
This is not food that you wake up ever and you are like "oooo I crave this"1) the chicken liver appetizer tasted very strange. The chicken liver itself is very bitter2) the citrus salad wasn't actually a salad. This is my bad though I guess, on the menu it didn't say there was lettuce if any kind. I just assumed my bad. It was ok3) the sasso chicken my partner liked, but it came with beans which why... the beans were not tasty. 4) the patty melt was not good. One of the less tasty burgers I've had. The fries were also very oily and over cooked5) and I had a mock tail that the waiter told me would be sweet. It was not sweet, and to date the oddest drink I've ever had in my life. The service was generally very slow. Our waiter asked us if we wanted dessert before we even had our mains lol. An extra star though for the lovely lady that filled out water.Would not come back. Very confused why people love this place

Returned and had another great dinner here! The seasonal citrus salad was amazing, and I enjoyed the mushroom linguine and charred broccolini. Only letdown was the seared calamari, which was too spicy, but overall it was a good meal.

Been here a couple of times and I got to say this place is a hidden gem in LIC. The chef is so good!We had the pate, seared calamari, and the bronzini and it was five stars all the way, delicious! Along with two lazy lemonades with vodka and that's what you call a perfect meal. :)

I stumble upon this place randomly and it was good! Exceeded my expectation, some dishes are equivalent in quality of what I had in Michelin one starred restaurants
Be the first to ReplyVery salty food.
Everything was very salty. Not recommended. Worst of all, they charged higher prices than the prices printed on the menu for many items. Dishonest business.
Be the first to ReplyI think this restaurant has gotten a little carried away
I think this restaurant has gotten a little carried away with being Michelin-rated. When they first opened they offered great food in reasonable {Euro, not American) portions; now their portions are even smaller and their prices even higher. Their brunch used to be excellent, but they have discontinued that--although their website, which is constantly INCORRECT--states that they DO have brunch. They never update it, nor their menus or prices. The last dinner I had there (was in the mood for a little steak) was a small filet mignon ($32) with a tiny salad of arugula with 2 soggy (wouldn't they be?) potato chips on top ??. When I asked for some bread (hoping for some good French bread) they said all they had was their "grilled bread" (which I used to get with my Brunch eggs at no extra cost), AND they had the nerve to charge me $4 for it (regular bread grilled with a teensy bit of olive oil drizzed on it). They never told me I would be charged. I will NOT return for dinner, or else I will bring my OWN bread. Their Brunch hours were stated, and had always been, 11:00am - 4:00. One Sunday I ran up there (in 90 deg heat) and arrived at 2:45, and they said they were "closed". I said your website states hours until 4:00, and I was told "We are sorry but we decided to close today at 3:00." They have no respect for their regular customers. I find them arrogant and greedy, and assume they will soon have their Michelin rating removed. Too bad because I really loved this restaurant previously.
Be the first to ReplyBellwether is amazing.
The bar staff makes balanced and interesting drinks, and the food delivers on complex, memorable dishes. The menu changes frequently, but my table had a variety of items, including dessert, and all left very happy after a quality experience.

Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed our recent dining experience here at Bellwether
I enjoyed our recent dining experience here at Bellwether very much. We came in on a Friday night and were a party of four. The atmosphere was great, we had awesome company, and our waiter Isaiah was very attentive. I really enjoyed the overall vibe at Bellwether. For our appetizers we ordered their roasted cauliflower, chicken liver mousse and their roasted broccolini to share. Their chicken liver mousse was to die for. I really enjoyed the creamy, sweet and savory aspect of this dish. The apple/peach chutney really elevates the mousse, and creates a great balance for the saltiness of the chicken liver. Honestly, I would come back asap just to order this alone. The broccolini had a very nice taste to it and their lentils almost remind me of a barbecued chili. The roasted cauliflower was alright. It was more subtle in terms of taste, and the only saving grace was the hint of lemon I got off the very end of the dish, but I would definitely pass on this. I didn't think it was worth it.For our mains, I ordered their Heritage Pork Chop. My husband ordered their Grilled Branzino, my friends ordered their SASSO Chicken and Mushroom Linguini. I got to try every dish and thought the Branzino and Chicken were the overall winners in terms of taste, quality and value. I found my pork chop to be very great in flavor, but felt the portion was too small for the price, and didn't think it was worth it honestly. The mushroom linguini was pretty standard. Also I'd like to highlight their signature cocktail: the Bellwether Bees. This was a very delicious drink and went down smooth. I loved everything about it. A must order, if you like vanilla bean in your drinks!

I've been a few times since my initial review and it never misses! The drinks are amazing (I recommend the old fashioned with mole bitters!) While the chicken liver mousse is still a fav, I also highly recommend the charred broccolini, sasso chicken, and pork cheeks.

Came here based on the Michelin cheap eats guide, which recommended grilled halloumi, blowfish tails, and lamb necks, which were not on the menu because it's very seasonal (seems like it changes very month). However, we were impressed by the options, and would come back to try more things. The dessert menu was more limited and plainer - only 3 options. Two of us shared the following and had leftovers:- Roasted Cauliflower ($11): on the blander side, but that was alright because it was meant to be offset the other dishes. The cilantro tahini was interesting, but could have been had a deeper flavor I thought and the picked carrots could have been a bit more pickled.- Chicken Liver Mousse ($11): A nice chunk of mousse, accompanied with 2 bread slices and a sweet ginger/apple compote that was an interesting side. Our bread was burnt, so we asked for replacement and they offered additional slices as well. I'd get this again.- Sasso Chicken ($32): GET THIS. This was the clear standout. The chicken was so juicy and tender, while the skin was so crispy. It came with butter beans in this flavorful, but not rich sauce. One of the best chicken dishes I've EVER had in recent memory.

Extra star for the delicious food and amazing service that our group of three received last weekend. We had reservations for 8:15pm and the table prior to us ran waay over (like 45 min over), so we spent the first part of the evening chatting with drinks at the bar. The staff was kind enough to comp the first round of drinks which was a nice touch. The restaurant still packed when we sat down but they came and answered questions and took orders pretty quickly and smaller plates arrived within 10-15 min of ordering. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the menu, considering a dairy intolerance they were clear in pointing out which items in the menu did and didn't have milk/butter/cream. One note to point out is the menu isn't separated into different sections, but generally the larger plates were towards the bottom. When the first round of small plates arrived they also brought an extra item on the house which was super thoughtful! In all we had the following:1) Jonah crab ($18): super fresh, creamy crab salad served with a crisp cracker. Loved the celery root crunch, great starter to whet our appetites.2) charred broccolini ($11): that slight grilled tasted with the cilantro tahini sauce and crisp toasted sesame was delicious.3) straciatella ($16): roasted squash, pumpkin seeds, and apples sliced thin served with a locally made soft cheese (similar to buffalo mozzarella). Pleasant autumnal dish. 4) Japanese eggplant ($15): didn't know what to expect of this dish but it surpassed my expectations. The nuttiness of the quinoa, tahini and pistachios paired with the crunch of the pistachios and the sprigs of fresh pea sprouts had a great savory balance, and made for a surprisingly filling entree. 5) flank steak ($34): well seasoned, well cooked medium-rare steak. Couldn't ask for more in a steak!! 6) heritage pork chop ($36): I didn't personally try this one but my friend said it was delicious. Quite a decent portion size too, she ended up taking half of it home.7) flourless chocolate cake ($12): a little on the dense side but most definitely chocolaty and rich. Glad we shared this! All in all staff was very friendly and accommodating, even after the restaurant closed at 10pm they never rushed us even though it was almost 11 by the time we left. Definitely get an A on service. Keep up the amazing job!
Be the first to ReplyPros- Great brunch restaurant vibes.
I went to this restaurant on a Sunday for brunch. - The indoor dining space is maintained clean. There is also outdoor dining area.- I tried the signature burger and it was delicious. I liked how it was a different kind of burger compared to regular burgers. Cons- The menu was a bit limited - I had to wait quite long until the food came out.

I was thrilled when Bellwether finally reopened after their closure due to the pandemic. When dining in my neighborhood I wonder if I enjoy the food because it's good for LIC or if I'd hold it up to Manhattan standards. Bellwether does not disappoint. From their exceptional service to their fresh menu; I'd highly recommend for dinner. They're menu changes according to season but I love their staple patty melt!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, staff and atmosphere.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for something more smart casual in LIC. I went for brunch and was super impressed. I'm excited to try for lunch and/or dinner. Enjoy!

I ordered pancake at this place and it is full of oil! It felt like they fried the pancakes instead. The presentation of food is ok. The environment looks nice. Dislikes the waiters, they kept coming over to check with us and want to take our plate away because we stop eating. It is not like there is a line outside, there are alot of tables available. As soon as we said you can take the plates away, they bring us the check. Wont go back again.
Be the first to ReplyOverall tasty.
Order apps. Small portions This place was such a great Friday night choice! We were able to make a last minute reservation online and be seated 15-20 minutes later! They make a pretty good Moscow mule. Not listed in the menu but you can ask the bartender for your preferred drink. Appetizers: Jonah crab served I guess flaked which was well seasoned and delicious served with this idk giant salted grained tasty cracker? My description doesn't do it justice. So good!Stracciatella without the hazelnuts. I'd describe it as a softer burrata. Very good Entree: flank steak served with an arugula salad and potato chips. It's a very small portion. But tasty. The salad I chuckled at. Ordered a vinaigrette to dress it.
