Poor service
Service was terrible and most of the waiters were rude. We arrived an hour early and then waited 45 minutes to be seated after our time of the reservation. Food was good but not to the standards we expected. Was definitely dissapointed.
Be the first to ReplyHuge disappointment. Not what you'd expect from the Belmond
This was our final dinner on an 8-day trip on the Amalfi coast, and though it was the one we were most anticipating, it ended up being the most disappointing. The evening started out pleasantly. We had cocktails in the gorgeous Caruso Bar before walking to dinner at Ristorante Belvedere, which was equally gorgeous with stunning views. Problems began with the arrival of our server, Giovanni, whose name will be mentioned continuously in this review. Before a word was spoken, Giovanni made us feel like we were inconveniencing and annoying him by taking photos of the view. He seemed to despise tourists, and though he made sure not to speak inappropriately, his mannerisms were brash, and my wife became afraid of upsetting him (exactly the vibe you're going for during a 5-star dinner, right?). I have to give the restaurant credit for the handful of complimentary bites brought out throughout the meal as they were tasty and appreciated. For our main course, my wife and I both had pasta. We had enjoyed incredible pasta throughout our trip and are partial to the al dente style, but this pasta was completely undercooked. It was crunchy, and you could see the white center of each bite. Frankly, it was inedible. Giovanni scoffed when he came to take our plates away and saw that we had left much of the pasta untouched. At this point, I had decided complaining wouldn't be worth it and was hoping to get through the meal without too much conflict. Giovanni disappeared for the next hour while other servers brought us our limoncello and desserts. Slowly the restaurant emptied out, and by 11:30 pm, we were the only table left, but still there was no sign of Giovanni. I finally stood up and asked another server to bring us the bill. A few minutes later, Giovanni returned with a look of rage and said to me very slowly and without breaking eye contact very near my face, "you asked for the check!" My wife said she was afraid to look at him. As we exited through the hotel balcony, Agata, the guest experience manager, asked us how our evening was, and I informed her that it was an extreme disappointment. She took my information and later apologized via email and offered a small discount on our meal. I appreciated this acknowledgement of our poor experience. Later, I received an email from Angelo, the Director of Food and Beverage, who thanked us for our feedback but then proceeded to defend Giovanni and assure us that "he is a valuable asset of our team." I could have done without this email. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the experience as it was not what we expected from a hotel like the Belmond. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g194873-d1913667-r913496626-Belvedere_Restaurant-Ravello_Amalfi_Coast_Province_of_Salerno_Campania.html#

What a disappointment. We came here before ,and really enjoyed it ,but this time it was a disappointment on every level. The waiters couldn’t care less. The food was delivered wrongly! When eventually it came it was ordinary. Add to this the annoying noise from the side bar singer and the night was over for us. Maybe we give them another chance but not on this trip!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed - this is not what I’ve expected from this hotel.
My dining experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The quality of the food did not match the standards one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, the service was inattentive, and the overall taste of the dishes fell short of my expectations. Regrettably, I have decided not to revisit this restaurant in the future.

We greatly enjoyed Belvedere for both breakfast and dinner. Leisurely dining at it's best with superlative views. Delicious!
Be the first to ReplyExceptional setting, presentation and food
Really unforgettable evening dining here. Started with wonderful drinks on the terrace and then a delicious meal. The special - risotto with mushrooms was incredible as was the very heavily soaked rum baba. The presentation is just perfect and there is a really nice range of choices. Wonderful and attentive staff - thank you for a great evening.

We ate here many nights during our stay a the Belmond Caruso hotel. Truffle Pasta was divine. We loved everything we ordered. The setting is gorgeous! The food is beyond delicious. The chefs are amazing and very creative. The service was so attentive. Even if you are not staying at the hotel be sure to make reservations to dine here one evening. It will be your best dining experience on the Amalfi Coast.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional service and incredible dining experience!
Arrived early before dinner service began - manager graciously welcomed our party and escorted us to a “money shot” table to watch the sunset and enjoy a cocktail before being seated for dinner. Bartender genuinely warmly welcomed us as though we had been regular guests all week. Menu offers thoughtful selection of traditional local dishes prepared at an elevated level and artfully presented. The salted sea bream was expertly fileted and served tableside. Unable to narrow our dinner choices, Mario shared his perspective on each dish to facilitate our selections. His recommendations were amazing! We savored each dish, reluctantly sharing with others at our table. Dishes we enjoyed included: Aubergine Parmigiana, Baby Octopus “Luciano Style”, Homemade “Taglioline all’uovo, Homemade Tagliatelle with while Veal Ragout, and Sea Bream in Salt Crust. Sommelier guided us through various local wines we were interested in to complement our meal. Her personal experience with local vineyards and vintners and she was knowledgeable of each varietal. She explained why each wine would elevate our meal and what to expect from each wine providing us with a great deal of confidence. Mario, aka “Super Mario” went out of his way to ensure our evening was memorable. Thank you, Team Belvedere, for a wonderful evening.

Visited this place a few years ago and the standard has definitely gone down. The service was poor and the food was over priced and below average.

Nice view and wonderful tasting menu, Vincenzo is very nice with a sense of humour. We made a wish to visit again under rainbow.
Be the first to ReplyTop notch service in an unbeatable setting
5-Star hotel pricing, but they do everything they can to make it worth your while. Very professional, but also welcoming, service. The slow-cooked octopus appetizer was the best we've ever had, and the chef added some intriguing extra bites along the way. Spoil yourselves while enjoying some of the best views on the planet!

Wonderful restaurant with a magnificent view. Professional servers and welcoming. Everything was delicious. I loved very much linguine with anchovies from Cetara and my wife choosed a fantastic chateaubrian. Quality and creative presentation with good wine made the difference.

Belvedere Restaurant at Belmond Hotel Caruso is an experience that should not be missed!! We have been lucky enough to visit this amazing hotel several times and have always had a wonderful experience. Our daughter is getting married there in June and we have been so thrilled with the planning process. Alfonso Pacifico along with Domenico Pellegrino & Donatella Gennaro have treated us like family! I am so surprised by some of the negative reviews about Belvedere Restaurant. We have stayed at over 17 of the Belmond properties. I would say along with Hotel Splendido & Splendido Mare in Portofino, Hotel Caruso is one of the best! The quality of the food is fabulous, presentation is creative and the staff extremely welcoming. I recommend having a lovely aperitif in the beautiful champagne garden, it is magical. Make sure you have an after dinner drink at the Loggiato Bar, Tommaso will take amazing care of you!
We are so very excited to meet the new Executive Chef Cristoforo Trapani and see what new additions await us in June.
Superb in All Aspects
My wife and I dined here on our last night staying at this amazing hotel and we ended on a very high note. The meal was fantastic. The service was spot on. In other words, they were there when we needed them but not obtrusive (meaning - they weren't over doing it which we experienced in other Michelin restaurants on the Amalfi Coast). The pace of the meal was exactly as we needed it to be and they were not heavy on the chef's "freebies" up front - like some of the other restaurants we went to. The food was seasonal, perfect sized portions, thoughtful in its creation and incredibly creative. Flavour explosions!! We will return!!
Be the first to ReplyMaybe a little overrated ... but the location!!!
I am not 100% sure I would agree with a Micheline star related to the food that evening. It was good, but not outstanding and not overly memorable. But solid ... the service was nice and very professional (maybe sometimes a little bit too stiff) ... and the location was marvelous. When in Ravello, I am certain it is the best place to go. The "star" is maybe a little in question here.
Be the first to ReplyMichelin star?….you must be kidding me!
Since we knew about the great reputation of the Belmond hotel group, and specifically this, the Belmond Caruso Hotel, we decided to check out this Michelin-starred restaurant. All-in-all, it was “average” and definitely could not even rival the other restaurants and Osterias around Ravello.
Wonderful terrace table on a beautiful evening, but from the get-go, the waiter rushed us into ordering “because a large group was arriving,” (which turned out to be only a table of 6). But we got sucked into taking his advice since we were hungry and it was getting late.
And then the kicker…probably the WORST tomatoes ever on the caprese salad! We had shared one just the night before at a little Osteria in Ravello which was fantastic, so we know that better tomatoes were available to the Belvedere!
We would not recommend this restaurant, especially with all of the great ones in and around Ravello.
Avoid it . They don’t have the only view in town and the food was average.
Maybe we should blame that it was just a late 10:00 pm Monday night and leave it at that…But that’s making excuses for a “Michelin” restaurant and I’m not here to do that 👍🏻. Its not even that I had huge expectations for the place. My wife and I simply having another dinner and this our first night in Ravello. The bread was cold and not fresh. The presentations of the food were pretty and the ambience was good but as for the quality of food it really fell like off the cliff we were sitting there over looking! We had to ask for the wine list ,bought a bottle of wine and after the first two glasses we were left with no service to pour our own drinks which hasn’t happened one time while here in Italy. They ask if we wanted dessert menu - just asked if we were done kek . Without going on and on it comes down to one question -
“Would you recommend this restaurant?”
My answers is a big NO.
Lovely dinner
The food was delicious. They had a great wine recommendation as well. We chose our own menu to tailor our preferences. Highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back! Make reservations in advance.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous view, service and experience
We would highly recommend a visit to Belvedere at Belmond Caruso in Ravello.
Having originally booked for lunch on our wedding anniversary last week, we arrived to find that they were no longer serving lunch on the terrace due to less staff and guests, but as we had hoped for the views whilst dining they immediately booked us in for dinner that evening. We were giving a table on the front and looked after impeccably. Service was fabulous with friendly and professional staff, food was beautiful! We were surprised with a glass of champagne each and a whole chocolate cake for our anniversary! (The cake was so huge we couldn’t order dessert)
A fabulous experience - thank you for making our wedding anniversary special!
Beautiful setting for a dinner in Ravello
We had a lovely dinner here last week. Beautiful setting, very good food, nice wine. There was only one "but". And that was the speed of the service - it was VERY slow. Like to to the point you're almost starving (2 course dinner took us almost 2 hours). Otherwise - definitely worth going!
Also - definitely recommending the cocktail bar to enjoy some live piano music and very good cocktails before the dinner.
