Best french fries, great seafood selection
We had a group of 7, we all loved the food! Quick service, food came out promptly, they were attentive to our drink refills. The food was great! Huge portions of fried seafood, yummy cole slaw and hush puppies, and lots of really great fries!

This place was horrible. I ordered grilled cajun seafood platter. Everything was over cooked. I paid over a hundred dollars for this meal and I would have rather went to Taco Bell. Service was horrible. Kids plates came out ten minutes before ours did. We will never be back. Worst food in Galveston!!

OMG where do i start. Ok well the grandkids ordered crawfish and they said it was ok. The corn was a whole cob of corn which was cold inside so it wasnt boiled with the crawfish. Ordered the Catfish filets but had to order it seperate for 19.95 andit still was talapia filets. Cant fool me on catfish people. Oneof the grandkids spilled a drink and nobodycame out to clean it up so i cleaned itup off the floor to maybe keeping thenext customer from slippin on the floor. Anyways back to the food. I was dissapointed in my so called catfish platter which i had to order seperately was the shrimp and oysters that was a dollar and something each. I was not really impressed with my food and i seen they had a muffalatta so i thought hell yea i will just get that and it will satisfy what i wanted. I was so wrong. It came out looking like a microwaved frozen ham and cheese sandwich and was no bigger than an inch thick plus with no olives in the sandwich. So i told the lady it didnt have olives on itso she picked it up and never came back to the table. I was going to pay for my extra beer while the family went outside to chill. The guy came by to clean off table and i told him i would be back after i paid for my extra beer and came back to table and he done dumped out my new beer i had. What a waste of a dinner. I wish we would have had our phones to take a pic but i dont like phones at the dinner table. Its not worth eating here for 160.00 bucks. Waste of money.

We had read that if you want good crawfish, you have to go to Benno's. Well, we did and we were not disappointed! The crawfish with all the sides was delicious. I had the crawfish, my companions chose shrimp and chicken. Everything was very good and well spiced. Highly recommend

This place was recommended to us by some locals. So glad we listened to them. Everything was so good. We got the seafood platter. It was great! If we cruise out of Galveston again, we will stop there again.
Be the first to ReplyFried oysters perfect! Great place!
My personal test for a seafood restaurant is fried oysters. In all my many years searching, these are the finest, most consistently prepared Iโve had. Folks have different opinions on how they like them, but personally, I like them not too large, and not too moist/mushy. These are firm (but not dry), crispy, with a delicate oyster flavor. The tartar sauce is just right. Rather than fries, I recommend the spiced grilled potatoes for the side. My wife, not a seafood fan, loves the red beans and rice, and coleslaw. Really good, individually small sized, crispy hush puppies too. All the staff are great - always friendly, attentive at the right times, and seem genuinely happy you came in. Itโs not fancy place, but comfortable, very clean, spacious, with a great Gulf view.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and nice views from the patio--very cold inside
It has been years since we were last here, but the food continues to be very good. The gumbo is really tasty and has some good sized shrimp in it, but I would like a little more rice added in the future. The Malfattis are excellent. The French fries are some of the best we have ever had. The portions are substantial. This is an "order from the bar" model with staff bringing the food to your table. The menu is decent with adequate options for everyone. If you do not like Cajun food, you are on the wrong place! There are no options for you other than the side dishes. The staff is friendly and does provide some assistance in ordering. The place is clean and has tables for different sized groups. The prices are very reasonable for what you get in a "tourist town." The outside area as the views, but there is no overhead cover--this is an issue during the day because of the sun. Inside, the AC is very cold and you may need a sweater or jacket. Parking is available in a small lot in front of the entrance. There is parking on the seawall, but that is more challenging to get on busy days. Bottom line, if you like Cajun, you will be pleased with the food. This is not fine dining, but it is good eating! We will keep it our "Galveston--good dining book."

Didn't love this place. My shrimp was not cleaned at all. Still had the shell and legs and the intestinal tract. Really unappetizing. The shrimp was gritty. Ugh. I know some people dont mind that but I do wish they would have indicated that somewhere on the menu.

This has always been our "go to" place in Galveston for good sea food in an informal setting. This visit was our first in a couple of years. Bennos will now be way down on our list. I ordered the catfish fillet dinner. The fillets were the thinnest I can recall seeing anywhere and dwarfed by the thick breading. The alleged hush puppies were tiny, over-cooked, tasteless, and full of yellow grease. Fries and slaw OK, but the quality was way below par. Real disappointment this go round.

We had the blackened Cajun seafood platter, blackened oysters, and gumbo. All were equally delicious & seasoned perfectly. We will definitely be going back.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the Wait
I visited with family in March 2022, and we all enjoyed the experience. The food was good (particularly the coleslaw, fried shrimp, and fries). I didnโt expect the hush puppies to have a bit of a kick to them, but they were still good. The only downside was that we had to wait in line for quite a while, which made this less of a โquick biteโ and more of a regular restaurant dinner as far as the time it took to get our food (and also the cost of the food). I would visit again, but I would be more prepared this time to stand in line for a while!

This place came highly recommended, but we found it to be mediocre and over-priced. Guess it depends on oneโs previous experiences.
Be the first to ReplyGet the Gumbo!
Excellent Gumbo. The roux has that savory flavor you are looking for. The gumbo has just enough heat be enjoyable and allow you to still taste, and savor all the different flavors.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and view
Great seafood! Enjoyed the shrimp and sampler platter. The hush puppies were delicious. Great view of the Gulf. Friendly staff.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Cajun seafood
Great seafood and great Cajun food all at one place. I had the Cajun seafood platter and my wife had a half a Muffaletta sandwich. Trust me, you will not leave hungry.
Be the first to ReplyDecent beach grill. Not special but decent
A walk up and order po-boy and Cajun place on the beach. It's very casual but priced about what you expect for a beach place. Shrimp ans oysters were decent. Nothing unusual. Jambalaya spicy but forgettable. So don't make a special trip to the island for it. But if there not bad foe a beach day lunch
Be the first to ReplyWorse Service with Flies and Roaches
My wife and I waited for over 50 minutes for our order we never received. This place is also a fly and roach infested dump. Everyone we encountered was rude and they all repeated that the kitchen was short staffed. They never said anything about the long waits. The manager was the most rude person arguing with customers who complain. I would not bring my dog to eat here and will NEVER RETURN ! Do Not Be Scammed By This Tourist Trap Restaurant. Texas Boycott !!!

Disappointed in the fried shrimp ๐ค meals, both taste and size. The only redeeming factor were the hush puppies ๐ถ and Cole Slaw. For the price, recommend that you go elsewhere.
