Bistro du Midi Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Great service, mid soufflé
Was very excited about the soufflé. It was $22 for a single serving and unfortunately tasted like a microwave chocolate mug cake. But fun experience overall.
Restaurant Week Excellence
Came in for the first time for Restaurant Week and the three-course menu to enjoy the steak frites. First courses and dessert all excellent. Good food with good service in a very busy restaurant. Very different ambiance upstairs to downstairs, where we had drinks at the bar waiting for our table upstairs. Should not be charging $16 for a local draft beer from Trillium. We had the fortune to meet and be hosted and wine served brilliantly by Ian M the Beverage Manager - he's a good one. recommend the Saumur for a good value red on a rather expensive though classic wine list. Nice decor and vibe, would certainly go back if we lived closer. Call out to who selected the exceptional olive oil served with the unexceptional bread.
Great service and food - fabulous combo
Superb dinner . We went there with local friends . It happened to be restaurant week so there was an additional special menu. It was a Monday night and it was packed . The service was top notch from the bartender to the wait staff . The fresh bread was warm and delicious. I ordered the cod with a cream mussel sauce . It was cooked to perfection-not overly creamy. My banana hazelnut mousse dessert was the perfect size and melted in my mouth . I highly recommend this great restaurant in Boston .
Southern French savoir-vivre married to US practicality
An upscale restaurant on the edge of Boston Common with first-class French cuisine in an American interpretation (or vice versa...). In addition to a nice "Schanigarten" - as mentioned, with a view of a beautiful park, but also next to a busy street - the restaurant has discreetly elegant dining rooms on the ground floor and on the first floor, and it is very quiet there. We opted for the tasting menu, which really offered the best of at least two worlds, with a very fine wine accompaniment (and there is also an extensive wine list with excellent wines from at least three continents). Great pleasure with this perfectly rounded offer, which was also perfectly presented by the friendly and efficient staff.
Lovely restaurant
Large restaurant on Two floors. Downstairs more casual and upstairs bit more formal. I opted for the bistro menu and had the steak and chips. It was very nice and portion just right. We shared the apple soufflé which was delicious. Lovely staff.
overpriced dish
Sunday 11/12/2023 I dined at Bistro du Midi. The service was impeccable. I have dined there before, and the menu didn’t change. I wanted something new, and they had the Chef's seasonal tasting menu. culinary director & partner Robert Sisca CHEF’S SEASONAL TASTING MENU Fall & Foraged On The Garden : Tasting Menu 150 | Wine Pairing 89 . Please enjoy! chef robert sisca Since I wanted to try a new dish I asked the server if it is possible to order one dish off the tasting menu. She informed me that it is possible to order the: White Truffle Tagliatelle cultured butter, parmigiano, chives, fresh alba white truffles G.D. Vajra, Albe, Barolo 2019 I was happy to try a new dish. There are no prices on the individual dishes but the whole menu costs $150.00. When the bill came, I was surprised that the single dish I ordered cost $75.00. The whole menu is $150 and a single dish is $75??? I was disappointed that the server did not explain to me ahead of time the price of a single dish on that tasting menu and gave me the option to decide if I wanted that dish for such an enormous price.
Bistro du Midi - Excellence with a View!
What a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday! I had passed the restaurant on my morning run so knew exactly where it was when my hotel concierge recommended it to me when i asked later. My partner and i had 8PM reservations and were immediately shown to our table upstairs with a view of Boston Garden when we arrived. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu for $150 pp. 6 courses turned to 7 with the addition of an amuse bouche of chilled peach soup- followed by: watermelon steak with hamachi; lobster, mussel and oyster crudo; foie gras with brandied fruit; pasta with truffles; wagu beef & finally linzer tart with mousse for dessert. The food was excellent (i loved the crudo and foie the most and Will was crazy about the truffle pasta)- the portions were literally 2x the size i would have thought as were both big guys and were STUFFED! Dinner was accompanied by a lovely Chablis (and a martini for me to start). The staff was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Prob better to have the taller of your group sit on the banquette as they are quite low lol. An excellent dinner and wonderful experience.
Ok but nothing more
Restaurant nothing more. Uninteresting setting, friendly service, high prices but average for Boston. Unfortunately the kitchen is a little weak, both in terms of main courses and desserts.
Great menu selections
What a magnificent night at this fabulous restaurant! The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere is always lovely. I would recommend it to anyone.
