Underrated, we got 3 things here, the smash burger, the cucumber salad, and the Yibin noodles (forgot picture). All of them were outstanding, especially the yibin noodle. It's probably one of the best noodles I've had in a while. The walnuts added a really nice texture to the dish and it had an excellent mala flavor profile. It's definitely not authentic Asian food (like I've never had a Chinese cucumber salad with yogurt in it or a Chinese dish with walnuts in it) but they seem to have good vocabulary on authentic Asian ingredients and their execution is excellent, so it's probably the best if not one of the best Asian fusion restaurants I've been to in Chicago.

Next time you're in Chicago this is definitely a spot worth checking out! Bixi Beer is a modern brewpub located in Logan Square that features menu items inspired by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine! Their menu makes it extremely difficult to decide what to order since every single option sounds incredible. These items range from gochujang fries to rose tteokbokki to cumin lamb noodles These are some of the items I was able to try during my visit: ~ Chicago Beef Baos: sliced slagel beef, sichuan spiced giardiniera with peanut oil, charred scallions, ginger lemongrass au jus ~ Southern Fried Cauliflower Baos: fried pickles, green goddess dressing, lettuce ~ Scallion Garlic Noodles: butter, scallion, gently cured soy sauce egg yolk, garlic, oyster sauce, parmigiano reggiano ~ Yibin Style Noodles: gai lan, yacai, walnuts, szechuan spice Bixi Beer also serves many delicious Asian inspired cocktails and has happy hour from 3-5PM Wednesday-Friday and on Sundays. This restaurant absolutely deserves a 10/10 and I already can't wait for my next visit! #chicagofood #asianfood #korean #chinese #vietnamese #asianeats #garlicnoodles #pub #beer #chicagofoodie #chicagorestaurants #cocktails

Came on a Monday to experience the Owen and Engine winter residency. Got their burger, which was one thick boy. It was covered in a bed of caramelized onions which provided a nice sweetness. Other than that the burger lacked flavor. The patty itself was like a slab of beef with little taste. The bun suprisingly held its integrity even with all that meat and juice on it. The fries that accompanied the burger were good. Some were a little undercooked but overall tasty. Finally, the malt vinegar mayo was alright. I wish it had a more defined flavor. At the end of the day, I was able to try the burger before they closed up shop and will probably never experience a thicker patty in my life. If I had more time I would come back and try the banger and mash as everyone else there was eating that.

We were very excited to try. Service was fine. Food was absolutely terrible. I never write reviews, but genuinely want to help someone else not spend $70 here. The egg rolls were fine. Nothing special. We got the cucumber salad. Weird flavor. Really had two bites and couldn't stomach it. $16 of highway robbery. Next was the cauliflower bao buns. Again, fine. Fried rice which you would think is a no brainer was HORRIBLE. The odor was pungent. Not sure what it smelled like, but it was nasty. My boyfriend described it as the smell of "cat food". We barely ate our meals. Had an embarrassing amount left to the point where we actually put it in a box. Immediately threw it out when we left. Don't waste your money.

DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE FOR YOUR EVENTS. My sister and brother in law booked this venue for their wedding this summer and shortly after a close family member was paralyzed in a tragic accident. Since the space does not have an elevator (which is a huge ADA oversight on its own) we had serious concerns regarding the accessibility. When we reached out with our concerns, we were not only met with a lack of understanding and compassion but also misinformation and disregard for our situation. This has left us with no choice but to look elsewhere. The management of this restaurant is clearly inflexible and selfish in the face of unforeseen circumstances, which is exactly what you need out of a venue when you're planning something as important as a wedding. Shameful.

Owen and Engine pop up review - note - Bixi beer is a 5-star rating... phenomenal spot. I'm writing this review just to point out the gross pricing that's taking place with their Owen and Engine popup on Mondays and Tuesdays. Came here with a group of 10 friends / families, and the prices are just gouging compared to what Owen and Engine charged 6 months ago before closing (see photos to compare). Markups are 30-50% of what prices were. Clearly, they're trying to take advantage of customers going there for "one last" Owen and Engine, but this price gouging is gross and leaves a sour taste in my mouth for Bixi Beer and the restaurant group behind both restaurants. Do better.

Our favorite spot in Logan square - excellent choice of beers and cocktails . Bao and crepes were delightful! We recommend this place for a date night or meeting up with friends, on a nice sunny day try to get table on their rooftop.
Be the first to ReplyWent to BiXi for the Owen & Engine 'residency.
' This limited time offer ends in March 2024 and is only served on Mondays and Tuesdays. Since this is the 2nd best burger in all of Chicago, it really should be a full-time menu item. It would be a crime against humanity if this burger were to vanish once again from the tables of Chicago's meat-eating public. This patty is something to behold with respect and reverence. At first glance, it is massive. Upon further investigation, the crispy, yet subtle char on the outside compliments the super juicy and flavorful meaty inside. Perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked to medium, this burger was served on an ideal protein delivery system. With the juices spreading across the plate, I feared the bun would fall apart in battle. But, NAY! Not only did it survive; it thrived under the pressure and soaked up all the juicy goodness. Every bite of this masterpiece was a warning shot across the bow of every other burger baron in the Chicagoland area. The ratios of bun:meat, meat:cheese, and onions:meat harmonized like Simon & Garfunkel in Central Park. Also, the Toffee Caramel Date Cake was excellent! Go. Make your reservation. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Call your congresspeople and demand that the Owen & Engine burger resides permanently on the BiXi menu. Do it for the kids! Do it now.

Looking for a good space for Asian fusion food, beer, and great drinks in a spacious room with a long bar and great mood lighting with appropriately controlled music? You got your spot in logan. Even better they have a happy hour every day. First at the bar get a free shot which was a fun find Saturday. The happy hour menu was fantastic they have a variety of drinks including a favorite the dangerous union a great mezcal drink. We had a few small plates to share all of which were bursting with flavor all with an Asian fusion kimchi with fermented shrimp, cucumber salad with chili oil, fries with a gochugang ketchup, and egg rolls. The prices were fantastic and the portions filled us up. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyLoved this place! The ambience is so fresh and chic.
This place is best for big parties. They had a lazy Susan at the table and this made it easier to share food since we were a big party.Although the vegetarian menu is limited, all the items were delicious. We tried the Szechuan peanuts, cucumbers, fries, lemongrass tofu banh mi, fried rice and yibin styles noodles. They also have beer options in different sizes, i.e. 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz and 64 oz which I think is very convenient.

Value: Fav: Rose tteokbokki Tips: Menu changes! Follow their IG for updates and collab with other chefs. Notes: I'm Korean so their food/beer profile fits me perfectly. My fav beer (jasmine tea/rice). Used to go for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Wednesdays. Rose tteokbokki is new (as of Feb 2023), and it was so good! I'm going back for it again. Tried LNY menu -longevity noodle was not my fav. Too much sauce; shrimp not cooked.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time coming here.
I came on a Thursday around 7 pm. It is highly recommended to make a reservation. They do have a bar with lots of seating. This place is a fusion and inspired by Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine. The vibe and aesthetic is more trendy, American restaurant. They have an upstairs but that was closed. The downstairs is moody and dim--love the vibe. For drinks, I had the Allergic to Discomfort dry hopped saison. It was good. I enjoyed it. Nothing special too. I had the bixi headnod for $12. It is a hazy ipa and a shot of bourbon. Definitely worth it.For food, we got the potstickers for $12, char siu pork belly smash burger for $18, and pho Thai for $24. The potstickers were good. I liked how it was stuffed with a good portion of meat. The black vinegar for dipping that it came with, I didn't really care for it. The smash burger is a must! It was so good. They had a secret sauce on it that was so good. It was sweet with a little bit of tang to it but very very subtle. The pho Thai was like any other pho--nothing special. The meatball on the pho Thai was kinda weird texture and taste for me.The employees were really nice. The server was super friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this place! The vibe is fun. Great place to go with a small group or on a date.
Be the first to ReplyMade a reservation weeks in advance of Thanksgiving.
They waited until 1 am Thanksgiving morning to notify me they would be closed that day. So now most other potential options are booked and we are in town without a reservation. Horrible management.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is my favorite brewery restaurant in Chicago so
This place is my favorite brewery restaurant in Chicago so far! Their food is phenomenal. I usually get skeptical when it comes to Asian-inspired or Asian fusion food, but this food is actually pretty great! The one thing I will always go back for are the togarashi fries. GET THE FRIES. You will not regret it. I've been here three times and always order them and they are consistently addicting. All their beers are also so unique and delicious. The ambience is so chic and classy. I love the plants, the decor, the art, and lighting. It's very open and airy. Their patio on the second floor is beautiful especially in peak summer when the sun is setting and the fireflies are hanging out nearby. Such a lovely place and perfect date night spot especially if you're trying to impress :)

Food was drowned in heavy overbearing sauce which wiped out any brilliance in the ingredient combination creativity. Portion sizes were large which seemed to be trying to make up for the short comings elsewhere. One person in our party asked for their fried chicken sandwich to have sauces on the side which looked like they had achieved until the bun was lifted and revealed the homemade ketchup was slathered on. Party of four with shared appetizers ended up spending well over $50 a person with only half of the group having a cocktail. Overall our group left feeling underwhelmed and unfulfilled for the experience. One bright spot was the service. The staff member who took care of our table tried hard and seemed to want to make our experience a good one, but didn't seem to key into our half consumed meals. The server offered "to go" boxes reflexively or out of mutual agreement that the food was over sauced, overworked and over priced.Lastly the beer was uninspired, considering Chicago is a heavily laden microbrewery town. I don't recommend this place, as there are many more area restaurants that try harder and offer much better food experience for your hard earned dollars.
Be the first to ReplyWalking down the street and this spot caught our eye.
They had just opened the bar upstairs for the day (around 3pm I believe it was) so we went up there and had a drink. The happy hour menu was small. The guy behind the bar was super nice. We were the only people there. I got a cocktail and my boyfriend just grabbed a beer. My cocktail was pretty good! You have to have a reservation to sit and eat up there so after our drinks we left. The rooftop is pretty, the decor is nice and they've made the ambiance very appealing. Would come back and try the food.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for a private birthday celebration.
The place exceeded my expectations -- lovely interior, delicious food, friendly staff. We had a spacious room in the upstairs for our party. The restaurant itself wasn't too busy which is nice if you're looking for a walk-in on a Saturday night. Would definitely recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyHad a little higher expectations for this restaurant.
We got seated for a party of 3 upstairs on the rooftop. The rooftop is a clean and airy atmosphere and was pretty busy. We got a cute table for us and our server was super friendly and prompt. We were looking forward to other entrees that we have heard of, but we were told that they typically change their menus often. We ordered beef fat fries, potstickers, togarashi burger, yibin style noodle, and shrimp scampi. The food was pretty small portion sizes overall. I did absolutely love the whistleblower drink I ordered with the calamansi flavor. Everything was about $130 including tip and tax. Definitely check it out for the beautiful aesthetics.
