Chop! chop! Hurry to the home of meat on the bone
My friends and I were impressed by our first visit to this Soho basement temple to chops and all things meaty. It was packed on the Sunday lunchtime we attended, (we could soon see why) but squeezing in only added to the vibe. We all chose the selection of chops with a variety of sides. We were slightly surprised (and delighted) to first be presented with canapés, some meaty, some eggy, some cheesy, all on über-crisp crackers and delicious. All the meats were flavoursome, juicy and tender. The lamb in particular had us swooning with its depth of flavour and unctuousness. Sides (chips, broccoli, charred baby gem lettuce, jacket sweet potato) were all good, although not all of them arrived promptly. (Service did seem ever-so-slightly overstretched but was unfailingly friendly and interested and it WAS a really busy service, so that was easily forgiven.) This place isn’t big on puds but we tried both those available. The apple and rhubarb crumble with a ball of vanilla ice cream was a delight. Restaurants so often come a cropper with crumbles - I’m not sure why when, once upon a time, everyone’s grandma could turn them out weekly without breaking a sweat - but this was spot-on; crunchy, squidgy, not too sweet, and what a great idea to combine the two classic fruits! White chocolate cheesecake was scooped out of a huge tin at the table so it was a bit of a splodge but had good white choc flavour and a properly crunchy base. A litre of house red (a pleasing, soft, fruity Sangiovese) was good value at £34. Talking of value, we were out of the place for £40 a head which, in pricey Soho, left a very good taste in the mouth.
Be the first to ReplySteaks cooked poorly
My wife and I visited for dinner after a local show and the staff were friendly and attentive and we both liked the feel of the place. We ordered T-bone steaks and some sides. I asked for medium rare and it came out more rare than I’d expect but it was ok. My wife ordered hers well done and when she cut into it, it was still very pink and was, in fact, exactly how I would have wanted mine cooked. We asked if they could cook it again and it came back and was still a bit pink, probably still a medium if anything. We then just ate what we had as the sides were getting cold but when the main thing you do is steaks and chops and you get the cooking so far off what is asked for, twice, that’s a pretty poor effort.
Be the first to ReplyReally good, great value and service.
Came here for lunch at invitation of a business/friend. Busy Friday lunchtime. We had the "All in" - amazing value at £24 each including pre-chop bites (canape style starters which we delicious), Thin pork, lamb and beef chops on a bed of flat bread. perfectly done. Service was very friendly and persona and we had a great time. They even managed to find some Guinness for St Patrick day... Well done. Thank you guys. we'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyThe best Sunday roast
Went there for Sunday Roast after having booked almost 2 months before, and it was worth it. The roast was delicious and I love the ambience of the restaurant. Can't wait to go back again for the roast.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service and atmosphere.
6 of us had a great evening. Food was excellent with good wow factor and wine on tap an excellent idea. It keeps the menu really simple and our server Bella was super attentive all evening and took all of the hard work out of the ordering process. Restaurant itself has a great buzzy atmosphere and I thought that the price was very good value for what we had. Will definitely return as this is now my second visit in a few months and the levels have been consistent,
Be the first to ReplyThe Best Burger Ever
So the Black lock in Soho quite literally has the best burger ever. The sweet potato is amazing too. However, the service was really rushed and it seemed like they wanted you out of there as soon as possible. We were there at 6 o’clock so it’s not as if we came close to closing time. I came here March 2022 and it seems a lot different it did feel like a nice romantic sit down meal then. I’m not sure what has changed service wise but I’m not a fan.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
Great food and great service! Brought a friend to Blacklock Soho for his birthday and it couldn’t have been better! Due to trains he was late, but at no point we’re we rushed. Ava (apologies if I’ve spelt the name wrong) was an awesome server and gave the best service possible. From recommending cuts of meat, catering for allergies and even sorting out an little bit of a candle in the dessert it was great! She made what was generally going to be a couple of mates out for food and beer a really great day! So Blacklock Soho, if you are reading this, she totally deserves a raise / bonus. Anyhow, the food. The food is great. I’m not a big fan of peppercorn sauce, especially cream based, but is very good! The “all in” is a great concept, but you do need more food. Or maybe not… but it is great. All in all, good food and great service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak and service
This is a lovely quaint restaurant in Soho that used to be a brothel. Good choice of steak and reasonably priced for the area. The drinks are refreshing with an extensive menu - the lemonade mocktail was lovely. Service was intuitive and attentive. I received a warm welcome and a lovely table as per my request to sit in a corner as a solo diner. My steak was tasty and a reasonable size. Chips were okay but not remarkable - would have liked a mash option. I felt the gravy was the real let down - runny and oily and not really tasting of anything I barely had any - seems a waste for £3 - although the portion was generous if you did like it! Book well in advance if you’d like to come at the weekend. Many people turned away.

Was my first visit and was not disappointed in anyway! The staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food was just wow. We had the all in between 4 of us and we all had more than enough food. Would highly recommend the all in. One of the brave party had cheesecake.....A huge pile of the most amazing cheesecake, which we all shared. Cherry coffee cocktails.....LUSH! Have booked Sunday lunch in October (because thats how booked this place gets) and am so looking forward to that. Big thank you to all the staff for making it the lively place it is and its truly happy, relaxed atmosphere
Be the first to ReplyDon't leave without trying the Pig's Head on Toast!
We popped in for lunch and loved every bite. The Pig's Head on Toast and Pulled Pork Bun were out of this world and the steak was great too. Wine is quite literally on tap and the staff are very engaging, helpful etc. Will 100% be recommending to friends and looking forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyBook well in advance!
We booked this place like 4 mos out as a dinner to follow a matinee show. We got the “all in” Sunday roast which was pork, beef, and lamb with allllll the trimmings and gobs of gravy. It was. Special indulgence and a memorable feast.
Be the first to ReplyAre they taking things for granted?
I love this place and have been going since they opened, but my experience today made me uncertain about returning. My rib-eye was extremely salty, dry and well beyond it being medium-rare I had asked for it to be, plus the gravy never arrived. The broccoli salad was raw (not mentioned on menu) and extremely sweet (with honey), so I found myself alternating between extremely salty and extremely sweet food. The waiter offered to replace the steak but I did not have the time. In the end the steak was taken off the bill, but I got no apologies for ruining my lunch. I insisted on paying, because I had eaten it all, but it was not done. I suspect the waiter didn’t feel the need for an apology because of this. When I pointed out how sweet the salad was the waiter told me it had honey in it and the completely changed his attitude and became indifferent, which made me feet uncomfortable. I assumed he could not wait to get rid of me.

Great service with very knowledgeable waitress. Food is amazing. Beautifully cooked steak and will definitely go again.
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant meal I’ve ever had
We had an amazing meal and equally amazing service from Francisco! Best prime rib we’ve ever had and all the appetizers and sides were to die for! Real sourdough bread! Quality of service and food cannot be overstated here. We are only in London a few days and we enjoyed it so much we booked a reservation for a second meal while we are here!
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING THROUGH AND THROUGH
As someone who is a manager in hospitality it is so refreshing to visit somewhere that you cannot fault in any way, shape or form. From the moment we entered we were greeted by friendly faces, seated promptly, served even quicker and looked after for the duration of our stay… not to mention the food was amazing, the best roast I’ve had in London. We will definitely be back and I will definitely be recommending this place! Thanks team ❤️
Be the first to ReplyNot What it Used to Be
A friend and I went for Sunday Roast, having secured a reservation months in advance. We found that the quality declined, both in terms of food and service. It seems that the restaurant works hard at getting customers in and out as fast as possible rather than creating the atmosphere for a good dining experience.
We ordered a bottle of wine for dinner which didn't come until the roast arrived. When I pointed this lapse out to the server, he put his hand over his eyes and peered into the middle distance. "I believe I see it there!" There was no recognition at all that typically wine arrives before the meal so that the customer can enjoy a glass before the food arrives.
The food itself was disappointing. One very bad sign: a huge pile of Yorkshire pudding and potatoes sits under the warming lights waiting patiently to be apportioned. When on the plate, the duck fat fried potatoes are vestiges of what they were. Not crisp on the outside, or hot on the inside, but sad little chewy jackets of lukewarm potato. The roast beef itself was decent, but the portion on the small side. The best part of the meal was the gravy.
When next in London, we're going to have to find another place for Sunday roast.
Amazing food and great allergy awareness
The food was amazing. All the staffs service was great. Explained the menu well. I am dairy intolerant and there allergy awareness was fantastic, went through the entire menu to tell me what was ok and what they could adapt.
Cocktails were reasonably priced and tasted amazing
A very enjoyable time.
Eberything went smoothly from meet and greet to goodbye, the fabulous, lively Amy deserving a special mention. With no starter food took a little while to come to our table, but well prepared. Fair prices, good food, friendly service and a lively vibe. What.s not to like?
Be the first to ReplyPerfect meat and cheesecake
We went there on a date on a Friday night. Went all in with the meat and it was the best decision as it allows you to try a hot of everything. The service was pleasant but not overbearing. The atmosphere was perfect. Good selection of wine. If you decide to go a white chocolate cheesecake is a must!
Be the first to ReplyWow
Went here for my partners birthday and so glad we did the service was top notch the atmosphere was spot on and the food was amazing. The flavours were tantalising, every single bite was delicious, the meat is cooked to perfection I will definitely be back here
Be the first to ReplyOur favourite visit
We visited here over our four day stay and felt this was our favourite place we visited.
The steak was tender and tasted out of this world.
The mutton crumpet was melt in the mouth! The dessert to die for.
The atmosphere was buzzing and busy of everyone inhaling meat!
The sharing dishes looked awesome!
We would definitely recommend.
Fabulous foray with friends.
A group of 6 of us met here as part of a big London night out. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was friendly and rustic and the food was top drawer! We enjoyed a selection of starters between us and the waiter explained the story behind each dish. We then indulged in steaks, burgers and beef dripping chips. The portions were just right and the wine was kept topped up by the attentive waiter. I would definitely go back to enjoy dining, as opposed to simply eating.
Be the first to ReplyBig sharing plates and nice cocktails.
Group of 5 had dinner and went ‘all in’. Good selection of meat and sides, cold beer, nice cocktails that didn’t cost the Earth and a great basement location. Only complaint was a bit of a wait for service at times and how noisy the restaurant was - needs some acoustic deadening material! None the less, it gets 5 stars.
