Was able to get a reservation last minute but wanted to
Was able to get a reservation last minute but wanted to reschedule since pirates is under refurbishment right now and wasn't getting the whole experience. There weren't any other reservations open so just decided to go and didn't want to get charged for canceling. Staff was friendly and our waiter was always checking on us. We ordered the gumbo fries, the filet mignon and the chicken and kale rice. The gumbo fries were good but didn't have a lot of gumbo or cheese like the other photos. The steak was surprisingly really good too and cooked perfectly. Had a lot of flavor and by far one of the better steaks I've ever had. The chicken and kale rice was okay, the chicken was a little dry but the kale rice was delicious. It would have been better if the ride was open and could experience it all.
😍
Before anything, I want to thank the receptionist for
Before anything, I want to thank the receptionist for squeezing my family in, I did not think we were going to get a table in all honesty due to the reservations people make months in advance. I had always wanted to experience dining here and I'm glad it happened with the company of my family and grandparents.I had high expectations walking in since I knew off the bat it was the most expensive restaurant in Disneyland. We were greeted and taken to our table in great fashion. The menus conveniently had LEDs attached to them making the menus easier to read since the restaurant's ambience is in low light. Whenever we had a question about the menu, our server came through with answers that made sense. After ordering, I wanted to change my plate for Filet Mignon and our server was amazing with getting that done ASAP. Although the portions were small, the quality was there, I was pretty satisfied with my experience overall and so was everyone else.I would come back again.

We got riverside seating! There was a construction wall
We got riverside seating! There was a construction wall next to it, but like Mickey, you can use your imagination to fix that.I saw on social media beforehand this would be the case so it helped ease the sting. That being said, the overall atmosphere is still nice (being a much needed quieter dining experience) and the CMs are fantastic. The complimentary bread basket is still gone. I suppose a roll would not make the view better, but it's another little touch that I fear is permanently gone. The cup of gumbo was turned into an upcharge long before this time, but it is still not to be missed. In the modern food spirit, BB now offers a version of it smothering Cajun seasoned fries. Aside from alcohol, that is a really nice addition. Speaking of alcohol, it's about time that a restaurant in the park served red wine with their filet (for the normies). The price for the house red wine (Wilkes) and sparking (Grand Courtage) is surprisingly fair. I especially love that they use the older coupe glass for the latter. The hurricane cocktail is tasty, but very sweet and considerably more expensive. It's best suited for those new to cocktails or just wanting that vacation feel (you know it when you see it or drink it in this case). The filet is good (not nearly as good as Be Our Guest in Florida, which is ironically underrated), but it was cooked perfectly medium rare and the accompanying onion sauce was tasty. Mashed potatoes are solid, but they don't hold a candle to the scalloped potatoes the restaurant used to serve (though I think it was a side mainly for the chicken entree). The current chicken dish with seasoned rice is probably the best value considering the cost and flavor. I think the menu description undersells it, but I suppose it is a simple dish. The creme brûlée tastes good, but I think they changed preparation where they pre-torched/broiled the sugar way ahead of time because it was very cold (without the tell-tale touches of warmth at the top). Overall, it is still a nice dinner but it's price and diminishing features take away from that. I'd still choose it (construction walls and all) over the current iteration of Carthay.

The Blue Bayou Restaurant is located in Disneyland, New
The Blue Bayou Restaurant is located in Disneyland, New Orleans. My partner and I have been trying for a few years to get a table at the Blue Bayou Restaurant. During our last visit, on a Thursday evening, we were able to get a walk-up reservation for two. After placing our walk-up reservation around 6:00 P.M, we were informed that we would get a text within 30 minutes. My partner and I meandered around the New Orleans shops before we received a text on our phone, informing us that the reservation was ready. The Blue Bayou is Cajun-Creole inspired menu. It is one of the most unique dining experiences within Disneyland and one of the few table services options inside the theme park. You can make reservations for lunch and dinner. Online reservations are pretty much required, but we did get lucky and had a walk-up reservation available.Unfortunately, the restaurant had construction panels over the viewing area for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride due to maintenance. We couldn't enjoy the full atmosphere that this unique dining experience can offer. After reviewing the menu, my partner and I ordered the following Chicken Gumbo ($7.00)Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Tomatoes, Okra, Jasmine Rice, Green OnionsJambalaya ($36.00)Jumbo Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, Chicken, Tasso Ham, Creole Rice, Spiced Tomato JusFilet Mignon ($52.00) - Medium to Well Done and the Onion-Bourbon Demi sauce on the side, with Country Mashed Potatoes, Market Vegetables.Louisiana Lemonade ($8.50)Minute Maid® Lemonade, Sprite®, Mango, Raspberry, served with a souvenir glow cubeThe team member whom was assisting our table was outstanding, consistently checking up on us and asking if we needed anything! The Chicken Gumbo arrived first as an appetizer. It's a different flavor profile as other Gumbo offerings inside the theme park. It was delicious and well-seasoned. The main entrees came out shortly afterwards. The Filet Mignon was interesting. There was a seasoned crust on the meat which complimented the Onion-Bourbon Demi Sauce. It was pretty good! The mashed potatoes was great, however, the kale salad was slightly too bitter. The Jambalaya was delicious! Overall, it was great that we finally had a chance to experience the Blue Bayou, however, we felt some of our other dining experiences at Disney World were much better! It is also quite expensive compared to other dining options inside and outside the theme park.
😍
Great place to come for lunch and dinner.
The food was very delicious. We had a flat iron steak with smash potatoes and it was one of my top favorites steak I have ever had. Definitely will be stopping by every time I come to Disneyland.
😒
We always wanted to try this place.
It took me months to make a reservation, got super excited but my experience was just okay. Food - Jambalaya was bland.. yet its the dish that supposed to have a lot of flavors. We also got gumbo fries and it was just okay. We for sure needed tabasco. Service - Below average, period. Atmosphere - They are currently under construction. I think Disney could've done better to enhance the dining experience here. We might give them another chance once the construction is over, but our experience didn't support the hype. It was bit of a let down.

My family and I have always wanted to go to this place, but
My family and I have always wanted to go to this place, but their reservations have always been full. Finally we were able to make one, and my god it was cool. It gave us Princess Frog vibes in the bayou. We were very excited and were seated, with menus that had side lights on them so you could actually look at what your reading since the restaurant was very dark and had dimmed lights. We had a couple kids with us so they ordered off of the kids menu, which had the choice of 1 entree and 2 sides. They had the Pasta with Marinara Sauce, with fruit and vegetables and we ordered the Bayou Surf & Turf and the Bone in Rib Eye. The lunch took a long time to arrive, and it was smaller than I expected, but it was delicious. However, when the children's dinner arrived, they complained that the veggies were raw; we tried them and discovered that they had not been cooked at all, as if they had simply been dipped in boiling water and then served. We asked them to take it back to the kitchen and cook another batch of vegetables properly this time, but they returned it cooked the same way as before, which disappointed us. They apologized and returned it, instead giving the children fruit. I recommend this restaurant , but be wary of what the kids want to order; it may not be reasonable.

I wanted to like this place, I went years ago and it wasn't
I wanted to like this place, I went years ago and it wasn't very memorable, and so we decided to go again... small group of 4, the server wasn't very friendly... every answer was "yeah that's good" I ordered the iron steak - it was cooked medium how I asked but was fatty... the mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of the box... I think the best thing on that plate was the kale which was half crispy half mush. We ordered the Cajun fries which were brought out after our meals which was kind of annoying... but that was probably the best part of any of the meals. We ordered a cup of soup which was a chicken jambalaya soup it was super salty she took about three bites and didn't eat the rest. My sister ordered the jambalaya and said the shrimp was cooked perfectly everything else was cool to the touch and just mediocre. The bill was 130 bucks before tip which we knew going in it would be expensive but for food I could have got a Denny's just plated nicely... not worth it.
🤮
I am absolutely flabbergasted that this restaurant has 4
I am absolutely flabbergasted that this restaurant has 4 stars. It must be the Disney magic fooling everyone. We ordered the filet mignon, and what a travesty. I don't know how they managed to make a medium piece of meat taste dry and chewy, but hey must be that Disney magic. There's no way it was made to order because our food came out too quickly and the meat was almost cold. I've had a better steak at Black Angus. And to top it off it was $52! The sides were a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes and flavorless dry but sautéed greens. The waitress was really nice but we noticed she never asked us how our food was, which is surprising for this type of restaurant. Even the servers at Chili's ask if we're enjoying our meal. I'm sure they knew the quality of the food is subpar, and now I understand why there's such poor lighting in the restaurant. Worst piece of meat I've ever eaten.
😍
Great resturant and great service! My friend and I went
Great resturant and great service! My friend and I went there yesterday. It was my friend's first time and I hadn't been in 5 years. We order the hurricane drink, the fries for apps, and split the entree dish (which was salmon). It was all SO good! Our server, Rosie, was kind, sweet, and caring and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a good time at the resturant which she did. I'm going back to Disneyland at the end of this month with another friend who has never eaten there before so hopefully, we'll get lucky enough to have lunch there.
😍
So glad that we stopped by this place last year.
Can't wait to go back again this summer!!!

Great ambience ,great view of the Pirates ride on the water.
But limited menu options anymore
😍
I had so much fun trying Blue Bayou for the first time.
It's so hard to get a reservation here, so I'm so happy I was finally able to snag one. My family and I enjoyed the delicious food, and most of all the ambience. It was so cool eating and watching the Pirates ships go by.$$$/4 - Prices of entrees range from approx. $39-$43. The average entree is approx. $34.The ambience is so magical. You can't beat that Pirates view and smell.*Pro Tip: Since it's so ridiculously hard to make reservations here, I recommend speaking to the hostess and joining their walk up waiting list. When I was there, the wait was only around 30min, so not bad at all.*Con: Reservations are already booked even at 3 months out. Below is what I ordered:Gumbo Fries ($10) - So delicious. It's french fries with gumbo seasoning, and cheese on top. The flavors really explode in your mouth.4/4Cup of Chicken Gumbo ($7) - I'm a huge fan of Disney's gumbo. I really wish they would make this an entree and serve a larger portion.4/4Jambalaya ($36) - Another super delicious dish. It was a mixture of cajun rice, sausages, shrimp, and a perfectly spiced cajun sauce.4/4Flat Iron Steak ($34) - The steak was served with mashed potatoes, charred onions, and some market vegetables.3/4Vanilla Bourbon Creme Brulee ($9) - Served with berries and a cookie.4/4Chocolate and Hazelnut Cake ($9) - Served with raspberry sauce and vanilla bean chantilly. 3/4

Jambalaya Fries - 8/10Monte CristoWe made reservations at Blue Bayou for a much needed mid-afternoon lunch break during our latest Disney trip. Reservations were necessary and I'm glad we decided to stop in. Service was wonderful and the ambience was great. We ordered the jambalaya fries to start which were super yummy and filling. For my entree, I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich which is possibly the best thing I've ever eaten. It's served with a side green salad which was dressed with the perfect amount of dressing. It was large and could easily be shared for lunch. My friend ordered the filet and raved about how tender and flavorful it was. I only docked a star because of the price. I know it's Disney, and high prices are to be expected, but almost $55 for a starter, sandwich, and soft drink is a little excessive.
😍
Food was fantastic!! Service was impeccable.
This was such a cool treat . Unfortunately the ride was closed down so the ambiance wasn't there , however the food was absolutely a highlight to our The price is steep so make sure you are prepared to shell out a couple hundred dollars for lunch. We were a party of 4 , we each had meal, a non alcoholic drink and split 1 appetizer , total cost $200.90
😍
Great experience checking out the Blue Bayou Restaurant.
They have a great setup that basically allowed you to be part of the famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I had the flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly with mashed potatoes, kale and a few interesting sauces. Service was attentive and polite. Fun family meal experience while in Disney!
😍
Wow what a great first time experience! We all know how
Wow what a great first time experience! We all know how difficult it is to get a reservation here especially walk up, but somehow we got really lucky and got a table for two by just walking up to the podium (though we did line up a few times and kept checking with the host whether or not any availability popped up) and by the third time, we got a table! The hostess and servers were all so kind and when we were seated inside, we immediately ordered the gumbo fries and jambalaya to share. It was perfect for two people because they both were pretty heavy foods. The menu was cute with the little LED light inside to help see the items since it was dark inside. The menu items were all medium to high price ranged but expected since it is fine dining. I loved the ambiance and wish we got to be seated towards the water so we can also people watch! Looking forward to coming back here again next time.
🤮
If I could give 0 star I would.
First off, there's no options. You have 3 things to choose from. All which seem like they are microwaved which explained how our 5 meals all came out literally 4 mins after we ordered. The inside was cold and everything tasted like fish. Even the chicken! Also let's not even mention the price. So so expensive for mediocre taste. The only thing good was the service. Seriously the food tastes like trash. Go elsewhere!
😍

Definitely pricier than you average Disney parks meal but i think it's worth it!! I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. What other restaurant is inside a ride?! I highly recommend the gumbo and filet. And for dessert, creme brulee all the way! Reserve as soon as you can!

I was really excited to eat at this restaurant because of all the awesome reviews. The ambiance is beautiful and we were able to walk up and get a table just after getting off Pirates of the Caribbean ride. ( I was surprised because I tried to rsvp days before with no avail). Anywho, our server was great but I was not impressed with the food at all. I got the jambalaya.. the sausage was spicy, shrimp didn't seemed to be seasoned but that was fine because I just mixed it with the rice which has a rich tomato base. I've definitely had better jambalaya. My daughter didn't like anything offered on the kids menu so I ordered her some fries. They had gumbo fries on the menu for $10, but she just wanted them plain. When I got the bill they charged me for the gumbo fries, had I known I'd be charged for it I would have just for all the fixings on the side. My son who is vegetarian got the only menu item that is vegetarian friendly... the cauliflower served over grits. His first order was burnt and the second order was very salty. So he didn't enjoy it or eat very much of it. In all I'm glad I experienced it but I won't be rushing back. The menu was small. I kept looking for more offerings. But they do have a good selection of Napa wines like some of my favorites from Duckhorn and Frank family.

This place is one of the restaurants at Disneyland that are hard to come by with reservations. I usually check daily to see if there is a reservation is available for the day I'm going to Disneyland. This review is when I randomly went twice in a day and finally got in. I went around lunch and it was to busy and then around dinner got a seat finally l, but it's wasn't near the ride. There was a wait time for the table towards the ride, I told the staff we would sit anywhere. This place is worth it IMO, keep checking the app and go there if your visiting to try to get a table. This is located next to Pirates. As soon as you exit the ride it'll be to your left hand side. The waiter was very helpful and nice. Told us the special which was a salmon dish and we chose to get that and Filet Minon. The salmon dish was delicious. The skin was crispy, the meat was moist and tender, the rice was fluffy and flavorful. The Filet Minon was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Lots of flavor, juice and melting in my mouth like butter. The sides were great as well. Overall the meal presentation, taste of the food, service and ambiance are something that everyone should do at least once. The pricing is somewhat higher than expected, but we are after all in Disneyland and now in a restaurant that's hard to get into. IMO it's worth the price to experience this. I would recommend this place to my family and friends. I would just give them a warning that seating may not be available and to make back up dinner plans just incase.

The Blue Bayou Restaurant is all about the experience and
The Blue Bayou Restaurant is all about the experience and ambiance. I mean seriously, how many restaurants do you know of that are inside an amusement park ride?! Lol Not only do you have some entertainment by watching the people go by on the ride, but you also are immersed into this dark, mysterious ambiance created by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It's relatively quiet considering it's inside one of the rides. I'm not gonna lie to you guys, the food itself is average. They try to fancy it up with certain dishes and how they plate things, but the food isn't anything special. You are paying for the experience itself. The desserts are along the same lines. Just okay. Nothing spectacular. This is one of those places that you have to try once. Just to experience it and have fun. You do need a reservation to get in here and I suggest making that in advance. You won't be able to walk up and add your name to the list. Since this place is popular, the guest list fills up fast!

Growing up, I have always wondered 1) how people got to the other side of the water, and 2) how can I eat like those people. Without a doubt, those questions must come across 90% of children who ride Pirates of the Carribean. I am one of the fortunate adults who got to sit on the otherside (twice).Killing two birds with one stone, I got to experience the Blue Bayou, AND try the infamous Monte Cristo. Both the ambiance and the Monte Cristo live up to the hype. Monte Cristo was sweet and savory, and reminded me of Cafe Du Monde's beignets -- fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Overall, amazing experience. I hope all the kids who go on Pirates of the Carribean who longed to visit Blue Bayou get to experience what I did!
The food was good. However, they rush you out. It isn't worth the price. Salad is now extra and they told us there isn't a bakery at Disneyland to make the bread/rolls they used to offer.
😍
Best Disney Meal This Trip
We had an incredible meal here! Both of us had the flat iron steak and we split an order of gumbo fries(very shareable portion). Meal and appetizer was phenomenal…I really can’t say anything more. This was simply a great meal and the ambiance is amazing with a front row view of the Louisiana portion of pirates of the Caribbean.
😍

Everyone wants to eat here! I must say it lives up to the hype. The ambiance is amazing! The food and wine are good! We got the gumbo fries (soooo tasty), jambalaya, cauliflower steak, house cab, and sparkling wine. Service was outstanding and the experience was magical! I definitely recommend eating here as a respite during a Disney day. I tried for rezzies a few weeks until throughout the day I visited- to no avail. However I was able to snag an open table as a walk-in, and I would definitely suggest the Blue Bayou to anyone who's looking for good food and a good time! :-)
🤢
We were there Sun Feb 27 @ 4 pm.
I give 2 stars for the AMAZING server, super nice lady, been there a lot of years + of course the AMAZING ambiance. The surf & turf is GONE. Replaced w/filet mignon which was absolutely THE WORST steak I've ever had in my life. All 4 of us in our group ordered the filet mignon and all 4 of them were the same- (all cooked medium/med-rare) tough as shoe leather & flavorless. The filet mignon served with the old surf & turf along with any filet I've ever had is so tender you can easily cut it with a butter knife. We could BARELY CUT WITH A STEAK KNIFE. NO JOKE. It was AWFUL!!!!!!! The plate also looks empty. A very tiny serving of warmed greens along with a medium spoonful of mashed potatoes. NOT WORTH $52.00!!!! Won't be coming back for a LONG TIME. Haven't been to Napa Rose since December. It was still great then. Hopefully it hasn't also gone downhill.
🙂

There were no reservations available on my birthday but my party of 5 took a chance and Jeff the host got us a table because it's my special day! We had gumbo fries for appetizers with our cocktails and it was amazing! My husband and kids had the filet mognon which they described as "melts in your mouth". I had the jambalaya and it was delish! The portion is perfect, you're not to full! The only reason why I'm knocking one star off is because they don't have any bread service or any types of bread at all. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back..this time, with a reservation!
🤮
What a disappointment the Blue Bayou has turned into.
For the past 10 years, dining at this restaurant has been a staple to achieve a perfect and complete trip to Disneyland. The bread and butter was mouth watering to think about, the braised short rib was the best I've had, and the ambiance and service was some of the best that Disney had to offer. After our experience yesterday, I can say with confidence Its barely a shell of its former glory. The only thing that really felt the same was the ambiance. It still feels like a quaint water side restaurant. But everything else has changed. First, no bread, when we asked about it they said it was due to COVID (which that reason makes no sense.)Second, the menu is just 4 entries of chicken, vegetarian, fish, and steak - all very plain-jane options. My wife and I, not realizing the short ribs we loved weren't on the menu, decided that having the filet was an acceptable alternative. As you can guess, it was not. The filet was pathetically small, maybe 4-5oz and the cost was $52. The mash potatoes were fine, and the vegetables was basically just charred kale. The taste was mediocre at best. The service was fine, but in the past it felt like we were at a high end steak house. This felt more like an Applebees that had 25% of the staff call out. It was obvious there wasn't enough waiters to the amount of tables that they were assigned. For reference, it took 15 minutes to get a glass of wine. Every interaction felt rushed, from being seated, to ordering. Disney efforts to try cut costs at the price of quality is apparent here. Blue Bayou used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the world, now it's just another mediocre theme park joke.
🤢
I have wanted to go to this restaurant since I was a little
I have wanted to go to this restaurant since I was a little girl. Finally got the opportunity to go when we were at Disneyland in November. I had heard so many great things about how delicious the food was so imagine my disappointment to find that there were only four things on the menu. I ordered the jambalaya and my husband ordered the steak. Both were mediocre and 100% not worth the outrageous price. I'm giving this two stars instead of one star because the ambience was still cool and because the cookie dough crème brûlée was delicious.. But I would not recommend going here for anything other than maybe a drink or dessert. It is not worth the money and not worth the hype. More like eating at an extremely overpriced Applebee's.
😍
Great staff and atmosphere
Last visit here pre covid wasn’t great, staff was inattentive and curt, menu portions had been reduced and the salad with your entree eliminated, we weren’t planning to as a result incur the expense of another visit. But Covid happened and as this was our first big vacation since so the kids really wanted to try it again.
Luckily we were able to get a reservation, unfortunately it was for dinner but a quick look at the menu at the time included the kids favorite sandwich the “monte cristo” so we planned to go ahead and eat there even though dinner is much more expensive than lunch. As our actual arrival date neared we looked over the menu and realized they had pulled the sandwich from the menu, big disappointment and we almost ended up not going at all; great atmosphere but it’s a pretty steep cost to eat ok food (based on other reviews) that no one in our group was that excited about.
We decided to grab dinner elsewhere at the park and just go for drinks and dessert. Our experience was the polar opposite from our last visit. Check in was busy as normal but they seemed to have staff ready to make sure you didn’t end up waiting, we arrived right behind two other groups and Doc who I assume must be one of the managers stepped out to greet us and get us checked in. My kids have been here enough to have preferences on where to sit and he was able to accommodate their requests and stopped by the table a time or two to check in. The wait staff was fantastic, the drinks and dessert were great and the atmosphere is hard to beat.
We made sure to leave a larger tip that would have reflected a typical dinner bill so the staff wasn’t shortchanged by us only getting dessert and drinks. Loved that they still used a menu which is largely absent at the resort now.
😍
The food was delicious.
The service was great!!! The server was attentive. I had a wonderful experience there on my birthday!! I would definitely go back! The drinks were do good!
🤮
Once a choice restaurant, now... not so much!
We are from S. Cal and have been to Disneyland way more than I can count. Each visit we always eat at Blue Bayou even if we have to wait standby. It is atmospheric and is actually part of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Designed to look like an evening outdoors next to a bayou in New Orleans. Food has always been good (though pricey) and service outstanding.
However, things have very much changed (and it hurts to write so such a negative review). Our reservations got us immediate seating. I could see the number of tables were fewer (likely as a result of the pandemic and social distancing - thank you for that). Service was not only slow it was disturbing. My wife asked for a straw. Took a long time to get waiters attention. He gave her one that was bent up. She asked for another and he reached in a pocket under his arm pit and gave her one that was bent, soaked in sweat and smelled of body odor. My daughter asked for bread and he said they no longer have bread service. Service was extremely slow, food was no where near what it was but prices were very, very much higher than the high prices they once charged. Our memory of the body odor straw and the indifferent service, though, is what we will remember. Next day we ate at a restaurant right next door to the blue bayou (Cafe Orleans). Much simpler than Blue Bayou but the service was outstanding and the food good and the prices were well below Blue Bayou. Not sure what has happened to our favorite Restaurant Blue Bayou but we will not be coming back.

Fun, memorable place to eat!

This was our 2nd visit here. It is definitely a must! It is difficult to get a reservation, unless you do it months ahead of time, but we managed to stop in while at the park a few times in one day to see if they had any cancellations or openings. We finally got into a time slot. One young man working there was particularly helpful and courteous. He went above and beyond to get us in. The experience is fun and food is fabulous! It is a bit spendy, but if your going to splurge this is the place to do it.
