2nd visit
Good restaurant but not quite Michelin quality. We visited last in 2015 and the quality and service was better. Long wait for water..15 min. No one came to check on us. I liked the tasting menu better.

I was delighted to finally make it to Blue Hill, a restaurant that had been on my must try for several years. It exceeded my expectations on all levels. Hands down, my favorite fine dining experience in NYC. The hospitality, food, and ambiance are exceptional. They treat you like family and feed you gastronomic delights. It is well worth every dime you spend. I cannot wait to return.

Went here 4 years ago after chefs table featured it, and was blown away by the amazing menu and home grown foods. It's kept up to date with food styles and family meal is just as amazing.

I have to say i havent been here post covid because i just havent gotten around to it, but its one of the best restaurants in NYC without being pretentious or impossible to get into. I have not had the pleasure of going to the Farm one in the country, but i have visited this city location at least 5 times and always leave thinking i need to return ASAP.
Be the first to ReplyLow-key high dining
Not only was the food innovative and insanely delicious, the service was just low key and real. The food (wow, the pork was beyond any description I can muster) was presented family style and casual -- but what you are actually eating is anything but. I had a habanero whose capsaicin was engineered out, and only sweetness remained. But it's not gimmicky and there's no molecular theater -- the best way to describe it is down home high dining, as oxymoronic as that sounds.. The environment is dim and cozy, like you're part of an exclusive back room supper club.
Be the first to Replysuperb service made us feel special
a special place to go on a special day, the vegetarian menu was extremely good, a real farm to table experience we will always cherish.
both the vegetarian menus were superb.
the only thing we didnt enjoy was the carrot steak, was a bit bland for us and the carrot bit mushy
we were looking forward to this experience for a while and are happy it happened.
Unforgetable experience of good taste
Visited with a group of friends, had to book reservatiรณn like 90 days before, we did it at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, gorgeous place about 50 miles drive from NYC. It was an unforgetable experience of excelent taste, I guess we had about 33 diferent courses, Cheffs menu, we had the most different tastes we have ever had in a restaurant. Every thing from the farm to your plate served each by a different cheff and a different story about the dish we were having, a once in a time delightfull experience, costly but worth it. The meal took us about 3.5 hours
Be the first to ReplyExquisite meal
Possibly the most delicious meal I've ever had. It's rare to find food that is so beautifully presented where each bite is also SO tasty. The portions are delicate - I've seen other people say this as a negative, but if you are enjoying a multiple course tasting menu, I liked being able to try lots of different things without being uncomfortably full at the end. All the courses were original and surprising. The farm-to-table element is really evident. Service is also five star. Ambience is nice and relaxed, not overly stuffy considering that it's fine dining. It's very expensive but worth it for the quality of the food.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing veggies, a bit too recherche
The veggie dishes were exquisite, pork succulent, servers helpful, friendly and discreet. 2 quibbles:
- portion size is itsy bitsy, plates artfully arranged but empty looking.I know their primary offering is a tasting menu, but for instance, a braised endive appetizer consisted of about half of one small endive.
- music was upbeat 70s and 80s pop. Some may find that cheerful and energizing, I found it distracting and invasive.
Are we being punked?
Ok. The phrase "farm to table" is what drew my party of some who enjoy a tasting menu. I opted for the farmers feast. The plus side: the service-host, servers, bartenders, sommelier, and all staff were five star. The problem is the food. Not only would I consider it nothing special, I would consider it worse than any meal I can recall eating in several years. Every course. And it is a huge commitment of time. It never got better. My entire party was in agreement. Please try to do better.
Be the first to ReplyA real gem in Greenwich Village
Our group of four was celebrating my sister and brother-in-law's 50th wedding anniversary with a weekend in New York. We made our reservation at Blue Hill a month in advance (a must) after reading about it. We were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant is in a brownstone about half a block from Washington Square Park in the village. The wait staff are fabulous...helpful, friendly, always willing to stop by and tell us more about the food. The food is all farm to table, and the chef is imaginative. The tasting menu was really outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the kohlrabi tacos, the bolero carrot steak and the monkfish. The vegan tartar was surprisingly super! Wine selection was great. The price of the tasting menu ($105) is quite reasonable for fine dining in NYC. Truly a gem of a restaurant in the village.
Be the first to ReplyJust Ok 2 star Michelin
Excellent 2 star Michelin experience but lacking something? Iโm not sure how to explain it, the food was good and staff was friendly but I was very underwhelmed.
The food was good, donโt get me wrong but not unique or with tons of flavor. There are stand alone tables but we ended up at a table with a half booth that was very close to our neighboring table. For the price and prestige, a bit more privacy would be great. When youโre sharing a bottle of wine, conversation flows but when you start to feel like you have to censor what youโre even talking about because your neighbors silence up and keep glancing over to get in on the tea, it becomes annoying.
I did enjoy their little taco making plate that came out. I also enjoyed one of the first dishes which were some radishes. Again, the food was overall great but something special was missing.
Iโd go back to give it another chance, maybe this was a one off, strange experience for us, but wouldnโt go out of my way to go back.
Farm to table at its best.
This is farm to table at its best. The vegatables were fresh, the pig was wonderful, service couldn't be better. All in all a great night out.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent meal, not cheap but well worth it!
Excellent meal, not cheap but well worth it. Since the menu changes so often I won't detail our meal. We went with the Farmer's menu, which they happily modified for one member who doesn't eat red meat and another who doesn't eat bell peppers. One of our favorite farm-to-table meals (and we've had many). Lots of food but we didn't leave feeling uncomfortably stuffed. Great wine by the glass selection (and the cocktails list looked interesting but we all stayed with wine). Service was excellent as well.
