Bonefish Grill North Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
One thing I often yearn for is a thick flaky Northern cod
One thing I often yearn for is a thick flaky Northern cod grilled filet. Charleston has so much delicious fish to offer but grilled can be tough to find. Bonefish did not disappoint. Dining room was full at peak time on a Friday night but the staff was up for the challenge. We were seated quickly for our 8:15 reservation and our server showed up promptly to share the specials. Started with a generous portion of delicious bang bang shrimp and a cup lump crab corn chowder to share. Full of flavor and crab. Cocktails arrived half way through appetizers and were very yummy. Entrees were generous portions, piping hot and very tasty. We always try to support local and avoid the chains but Bonefish satisfied my yearning for North Atlantic cod. It was thick and flaky covered in lemon butter sauce and stuffed with shrimp and lump crab. Tasted just like back home in Boston. Sides were generous portions and quite delicious. The side of bread with herbs and oil was also a delicious compliment. Bonefish checked all the boxes and will remain on my short list of chains worthy of the local attention.
I think 3.
5 would be my real rating so we'll round up instead of down. I had a work dinner here earlier this week and was excited because I really love the crab cakes here. The crab cakes were very good, as usual, as was the bread (so good!) but everything else was very sub par. I got the crispy potatoes with garlic aioli and the mac and cheese on the side. The actual potatoes were good and very crispy but the sauce was terrible. As for the mac and cheese, it was ice cold and had no flavor at all; no salt, no anything. Appetizers came out insanely fast but then there was quite the lull, almost 40 minutes, until our entrees came out which I thought was a bit long. Service was pretty good but not great. No complaints really just nothing to write home about. Overall, crab cakes and bread were amazing as always but everything else was really underwhelming.
Service at the bar was excellent.
Chico is amazing with the smoked old fashion. Cedar plank salmon was on point. Enjoyed the entire dinner.
First time patronizing this location and I definitely give
First time patronizing this location and I definitely give it 5 stars. Haley M was our waitress and did an amazing job. My filet meal was the cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. Great atmosphere that I highly recommend.
Great food and very reasonably priced.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. The pumpkin spice lava cake was awesome!
Bonefish Grill is a one of our regular spot for date nights
Bonefish Grill is a one of our regular spot for date nights and lunch dates. My favorite dishes are the Boom Boom Shrimp and the Brussel Sprouts! The customer service is okay but I am giving it four stars because the last couple of times we have been there, it wasn't great. We were seated in the bar area and still had to ask for drink refills. The bacon Mac and cheese was okay but not very flavorful. The Boom Boom Shrimp was good but the batter consistently came off when you tried to pick it up with your fork. The Brussel Sprouts and Pumpkin lava cake were both delicious!
Sat ourselves at the bar and was greeted.
Put our drink order in and had a couple as usual before we order. After eating the bread and dip we decided to share a few things. By the way the bread and dip was good. We ordered the fried artichoke with bang bang sauce and the special which was salmon on a cedar plank..this was awesome. We got brussels and and herb potatoes as sides. Both were good also. My only gripe...the shrimp was mush. Why do they want to shove it in this little dish on a bed of lettuce. And they did the artichoke the same way. It was so mushy. And just piled in the bowl like they grabbed a handful and just jammed it in a dish. Why would they not display the FRIED shrimp and/or artichoke on a plate all pretty and fried and drizzle the sauce over it? I'd love to have the crispness of the shrimp and artichoke more than mush. Was really disappointed in that. Nothing about it was appetizing looking. The taste was ok but had that shrimp been fresh fried and crunchy with that sauce!! I'm no chef..but damn...
We came here because I was given gift cards.
Wow. What a nice gift. This place was really enjoyable and the food was really good!!! Our service was good and I really liked how the restaurant was set up. I would definitely return!!
Decided to take the wife on a date because her favorite is
Decided to take the wife on a date because her favorite is the Bang Bang Shrimp.. my issue was the breading which is usually on point with the amount of sauce they use to toss the shrimp was falling off like it had been sitting in the window for quite a bit. On a more positive note the brussel sprouts were amazing and my chicken was phenomenal. The upgrade for the bacon parmesan macaroni was not so great because it tasted no different than box macaroni from your local grocery store. The garlic mashed potatoes were a 5 out of 10 but our waitress was an 8 out of 10 for attentiveness. All in all it wasn't a bad trip just not a complete expectation based on the price.
Just ok.
I used to think they were special. Not any more. Definitely chain restaurant atmosphere. Menu was fulsome but prices have jumped up. Selection was well rounded.
Not a great experience
After arriving to town we were excited to see a Bonefish right down the street from our hotel. After getting reservations we arrived at the restaurant and were seated relatively quick. The waitress came to the table promptly and took our drink orders and even asked if we wanted an appetizer… we ordered bang bang shrimp while she was standing at the table. Well it all went down hill from there… bread never came out until we asked about twenty minutes later, bang bang shrimp never came (she forgot to send it in to the kitchen). Finally after 45 min our food came out… steak was cold, Brussels sprouts were cold, wife’s salad could’ve been soup. I will say the manager was fabulous and took the food off the ticket. He was very attentive and made every effort to fix it but at that point we were ready to leave. Still haven’t lost hope in Bonefish but probably won’t visit this one again.
Just feel it cost more than iy was worth
Bang bang shrimp were not as spicy as we are used to, tuna appetizer, cod imperial and grilled redfish were very good. Service was excellent. Quite expensive for what we got but overall very good.
Worst Bonefish we’ve been to.
Wow. Where to begin. I’ve always loved Bonefish for consistency but.. that’s no longer the case. This was our first time to this location. There was no host to check the 4 sets of guests in for 10 minutes.. we were sat and a server visited us fairly promptly but .. it was horribly downhill from there. We ordered bread, water and martinis. We got our martinis and .. waited for bread and water. We got our bread but no plates and no one around to ask for plates. Another 30 minutes passed before our order was taken. No check in, drinks empty, never got to ask for plates. Finally got to order food. Husband got the salmon special and I got the crab and cod special. About an hour later we asked where our food might be. No one checked in l, no drink refills, no one offered more bread.. water refills..? Nothing. Our food came out about 10 minutes after we asked about it and my husband’s salmon was raw. My fish and mashed potatoes were so salty they were inedible. We finally got our server back and she asked if we wanted a box.. for raw salmon, untrimmed green beans and Brussels sprouts? No thanks. We were there almost 2 hours, with a check over $100. We will absolutely NEVER be back. What the hell.
Get the Bang Bang Shrimp
Had dinner here our last night in Charleston. The bang bang shrimp was so very good. The fish and chips were good. Would go back.
Second time
Went last night for the second time Service horrible. The waitress came for one drink. Had to stop other waitresses for service. Ordered our food. It was outstanding even though portions were skimpy. Sat in the bar area. Our waitress was busy talking to guests behind us Will go again. Give it a try. The food was good. Drinks felt watered down.
Read the Small Print
To be honest, a sensational meal…but I hate being taken advantage of. I read the menu and the meal had 2 sides, so I chose 2 sides. Thing is I didn’t read the small print. I chose 2 premium sides, rather than regular sides. Small thing, but would it have hurt the server to say (I notice you’ve chosen 2 sides sir, those are premium sides, if you want those included within the meal price, you need to choose these). Great meal, but I left with a bitter taste in my mouth.
