Boulevard San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Probably one of THE most gorgeous dining rooms in SF.
The service was hospitable and the ambience gave timeless establishment! We opted into the prix fixe for $119 per person and added the caviar topped sea bass. Each dish was super good and my favorites were the dessert and quail. It gave a very similar vibe to Gary Danko but leans seafood heavy. Wine selection was also really unique and fantastic. Boulevard is great for a date or to impress some in laws!
If you want a fine dining experience with innovative
If you want a fine dining experience with innovative flavors, you must come to Boulevard. This is one of my top restaurants when in the bay area. I got the tuna carpaccio, quail, cheese plate, a half bottle of wine, and a cocktail. Everything on the menu is indulgent and the service is impeccable. They recently changed over to a rotating set 3 course meal. The portions are perfect, and I would go so far as to say that I could randomly choose any dish and I would be satiated. Each dish is cultivated thoughtfully, and the attention to detail is always impressive. 5/5, From a returning guest, this place is consistently good and evolving.
Great meal! Did the 3 course dinner, which was a little
Great meal! Did the 3 course dinner, which was a little over $100, and enjoyed it. My favorite was the chilled Dungeness crab appetizer, but the scallops entree was also quite good. I was indifferent about the yuzu sundae dessert, which came highly recommended. Really love the interior, which has a great old school NYC steakhouse ambiance. Service was also friendly and attentive. Overall had a great time!
So charming, especially around the holidays.
Great service and delicious meals. Good portions as well. Lovely for a date night.
You’ll get food poisoning
The worst experience ever. Do not go here. We were on vacation in San Fran and went here as it had good reviews. The food was truly awful, they severed the sea bass raw, it had water running though it when cut with a knife and was not cooked. Neither of us touched it after one small bite as if was raw. The waitress could see we didn’t touch it but didn’t ask us once how our food was or why we hadn’t eaten it. When we complained, we were told the food is served rare. Absolute joke, rest of food was mediocre, it’s really not good food. The manager was very rude and refused to give us a refund. I’m going to raise the issue with the San Fran Food Agency.
Perfect place after an event at The Commonwealth Club next
Perfect place after an event at The Commonwealth Club next door. Food is delicious. Ambience is perfect (bustling but not loud). Service? Impeccable.
$119 per person for bland food.
It wasn't bad--it just lacked any flavor. The best of the three courses was the chocolate cake. The pork chop was a little dry and the thin slice of abalone was tasteless.
What went well? Everything.
Enthusiastic and knowledgeable waitstaff (Kudos Desiree F and our bread and wine dudes!) for their fabulous service. Excellent prix fixe options in an elegant dining room with beautifully presented dishes. It's been over 20 years since we last dined in and honestly, I don't know why it took us forever to come back. (Though we did do their takeout Mother's Day Brunch in 2020 and that was also excellent!) A special occasion spot for sure and without an ounce of stuffiness.
I used to stay at the Griffon hotel next door since around
I used to stay at the Griffon hotel next door since around 2016, Boulevard was like a slice of Paris on the Embarcadero. I was just back after they recently renovated, and may I say...it's magnifique!! The ambiance is still the same, luxurious, subdued lighting but not pretentious, with an air of whimsy mixed in with something mysteriously ominous...and peacocks, but only if you look closely. The menu was meticulously put together. We started with the oysters Rockefeller, followed by the hand-made pillows of beet ravioli. Then finished the evening with the braised pork chop, glistening and crusted golden to perfection, still on the bone. The staff is Michelin star worthy, and the kitchen is run like a tight ship. So excited to have this place back in the SF visit rotation. (And Patrick, you made our night...can't wait to see you again!)
We tried boulevard for the first time last night.
Upon arriving we were greeted by the hostess that basically told us we can only eat in the dining room if we opt into there $120 prix fixe menu. I have never seen this before at any other restaurant and didn't care for it. She first tried seating us at the bar that faces the kitchen which I told her I wouldn't be eating dinner there and then she sat us in the bar area that had a lot of foot traffic but then she came and got us and moved us to the corner which was much better but we played musical chairs a bit to get there and was strange. She could have just sat us there in the beginning it was clean and empty. Our waitress Leeanna was awesome I give her a 10/10! We ordered drinks that were very tasty. The appetizers weren't very great we got there version of Rockefeller oysters they deep fry which I wasn't big fan of and the raviolis were terrible. For dinner I got the filet mignon steak which was excellent. It came with their version of mashed potatoes and the steak was tender and cooked perfect. Overall I give it a 3 stars as a whole restaurant. Wasn't a fan of the appetizers or the way they try to force you into prix fix menu to dine in the dining room. The appetizers were over priced and not good. The rest of the food and drinks were good, my server was great, they have a cool location but you can only get the view of bridge if you opt into the prix fix menu.
Lovely interior.
Would recommend asking to sit at the front windows on The Embarcadero. At dusk you have a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. We could not get and then hold our waiter's attention for the first half of the meal--to be fair service noticeable improved in the second half. But it felt disappointing to not even be able to place our drink orders for 15-20mins, which also meant that we couldn't even get a bread roll since the drink order seems to trigger the bread. I understand that things get busy but if you have hungry people at the dinner hour and you know you have bread and also a Amuse-bouche burata offering at least drop those at the table and let us know it's going to be a moment. There are other little things like the floor being uneven so that the chairs wobble back and forth noticeably. We asked them if they could do anything about it; they replaced our chair and the second one had the same problem. Food is heavy and does not feel refined. It still feels heavy in my stomach the morning after. I understand that is a style of cooking that favors European flavors and richness but I think you can hit these flavor points without it feeling so heavy. Even the one veg entre felt heavy more than satisfying and I was suprised that tiramisu felt dense and heavy for tiramisu. This was unfortunately a disappointing, very expensive dining experience. Note-dinner is a pre fixe menu.
Great attitude
I am originally from Europe and a few days ago I was looking for a good restaurant to celebrate my birthday party. So I called the restaurant to ask some questions. It was an international call and it felt like I was constantly being cut off. My gut tells me, that I’m not a person who picked up an English language, so my stomach was gripped in horror to repeat some questions, but the reservationist was really nice and her patience was worth any cost and sacrifice. Thanks a lot for such an awesome attitude!
Beyond expectations!
Excellent food and best service we have ever experienced. Wonderful family fine dining experience. We highly recommend!
Lovely atmosphere and great food
No complaints! What a great scene. And the food was fantastic, especially the scallops. Highly recommended.
Beautiful Restaurant
Wonderfully delicious food....lovely attentive service...and a very beautiful interior. I like to sit at the counter to watch the chefs cook. Unfortunately, the counter seats are dreadfully uncomfortable. .very hard like sitting in 2nd class on a bad train.
One of San Francisco's Finest
We had a great experience at Boulevard. The wine menu is terrific and wines reasonably priced. We love Grueners from Wachau Valley and they had a huge selection. Our server Constantine was very helpful and even took the time to explain the history of the building and the decor which made the evening that much more enjoyable. I really enjoyed the crab salad and my partner had the crudo to start. Then we shared the scallops which were done perfectly, not overdone in the least. And the beef was aged and delicious. We ended the night with the special olive cake with hints of rubarb and chocolate cake which were both excellent. This is an experience not to be missed!
Iconic SF dining
Iconic SF restaurant that didn’t disappoint. Incredible service, warm and beautiful interior. Food was impeccably plated and divine. Every course better than the first. Amazing!
All around great place
Had a great dinner here. They were super accommodating after a mishap caused us to be an hour late for our reservation. The food and drinks were super yummy. Super ambiance. Very generous plates and huge desserts. The carrot cake, while unconventional, was our favorite. Should have a Michelin star.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
