Excellent middle eastern near Lincoln Center
We expected a good meal at at Boulad restaurant, but was served a great meal. Food and service were both wonderful As we had a 7pm show at Lincoln Center we did the fixe prie menu available from 5 pm to 7 Appetizers fluke was outstanding so delicate with a little spice. Falafel was herby and crisp. Probably one of the best I have eaten Mains. Husband raved about the steak said it was excellent meat cooked to perfection. I have the chicken Tangine which was excellent. You could name the spices, each had a distinctive note Dessert. Rice pudding was very flavorful and the grapefruit sorbet was memorable tasted like you just picked the grapefruit Service from the moment we checked in to the waitstaff were friendly and very professional Highly recommend

Extraordinary Mediterranean food. A fusion between Mediterranean and northern african culture. The glacé of meat slow cooked and the grapefruit dessert both deserve a M star!!

Outstanding service and a good eats before any production at Lincoln Center. Very considerate toward any food allergies or issues. Very good sea bass and salmon, mushroom soup, and desserts. Pricey but our motto is that it’s worth it as long as it’s something we can’t make at home…

Several years ago, we had a rather “OK” dining experience; however, we decided to give it another go. So glad we did! Everything was great! The service was excellent, attentive and personable. The food was fantastic! Also, our daughter is gluten intolerant, and the staff did a wonderful job accommodating to her dietary needs.

Decided to book here after a show at Lincoln center. When I booked, the reservation asked if it was a special occasion, which it was: my husband's birthday. Arrived and seated. Then we waited for a while. Someone arrived a bit later, and took drink orders. We looked at the menu, because it was late, decided to split starters and a pasta. Drinks were delivered along with bread. We split the mezze and the lamb flatbread. The flatbread was absolutely delicious. Mezze was good but nothing spectacular. Then the shrimp in garlic and the agnoletti. Pasta was sensational, shrimp dish lovely. Service was fine. Decide to not have any dessert as we were full. The bill came and the entry for a cocktail seemed odd: line item for a gin and a $3 up charge. I didn't understand and asked for an explanation which when described made sense. What was not okay was the server saying, "I'm not trying to rip you off". That never occurred to me. In addition, no mention/acknowledgement was ever made of the special occasion, so why do you bother asking? Can't see us returning here since our first visit was also marred by some service issues,

first time at Boulud Sud, after a number of satisfied visits to Bar Boulud nearby. there were 2 of us and every dish was superb, especially the pulpo a la plancha appetizer, which was the best version of this dish i have ever had. The chicken entree, filled with indian spices and matched up with couscous, was also magnificent. the wine list was pricey but you could still find decently priced (given the wine prices these days) option. Service was excellent, until the place filled up, but by that time we were done. It is a beautiful space, with a great bar. Highly recommended. Will come again.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing experience. I do not recommend this place.
We had dinner on 8/12/2022. We were quite excited about this restaurant. When we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by staff. Once seated, it was a different story. Our server only gave us the restaurant week menu when others were given both restaurant week and regular menus. I had to ask for the regular menu. Our wine glasses were almost immediately removed from our table. It was only when I asked for the wine list that the server left one glass for me. When I asked my nephew if he wanted wine, the server immediately said that my nephew isn't drinking because he will ask for an ID. I said my nephew has ID. Then the food came. The wait staff couldn't tell us clearly what we ordered. Then one wait staff asked if we wanted more sparkling water, so I said no but would like another glass of coke for my other nephew. He came back with another bottle of sparkling wine and proceeded to pour. I had to tell him that I didn't order another bottle of water but that I ordered another glass of coke. When I received the bill, it had the two bottles of water on it. I had to tell the server that I didn't order two bottles. He immediately removed it from my bill. The food was fine and the wine was good. The service left a bad taste in our mouths. This place is pricey and Daniel Boulud is one of the best chefs in the world. It was very disappointing that the service at this place was bad. I can't even justify the actions of the wait staff, whether it was discriminatory because my nephews looked very young and I would hate to think that we were judged by the wait staff. Service at Robuchon and Jean Georges are much better.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but very sterile atmosphere.
The food here was excellent, as was the service. Our biggest complaint was how little personality the staff showed. Every employee that we encountered was very stiff upper lipped and rigid. When I complemented our server on how excellent she is at what she does, she started to smile and then immediately went back to stoic. I don’t get this vibe. It’s uncomfortable to a point that we won’t return.

I dined off the Restaurant week Prix Fixe - $70 for three courses with supplements. Food very good - especially the leg of lamb which was very well flavoured. Highlight was Victoria the sommelier and the wine list more generally - more daring than most in New York but presented in a friendly and passionate manner -she knows her stuff, has a great list and gave great advice. Service from the rest of the team was also top notch

Food and service were excellent , as it has been on other occasions when we have eaten here . This time however we arrived at 505pm for pre theater meal . Only two other diners in the restaurant . we were shown to a table in the middle of the restaurant . we politely asked to sit at one of the six tables adjacent to the window . The hostess said "just a minute" . We waited a couple of minutes while she returned to her desk , she then returned and announced that we could not have any of the six tables but she could seat us at the end of the restaurant . Having eaten in high class restaurants all over the world , I know that when one requests a window table it is never guaranteed and they always say we will put a note in the booking . There is no view to speak of at this restaurant so the issue is , Why not simply say yes and allocate one of your empty tables at 5pm and make the guests feel comfortable . Isnt the idea to please the customer ? so irritating - I would have walked out but for the theater tickets Food and service are excellent but please change the silly hostess seating rules

Shared paella with a friend. A wonderfully flavorful dish. Shared various bites with another friend at the table. All was terrific. Well-chosen wines as well. Hope to return every time I am in the city.
Be the first to ReplyOverall it was ok. Would I go there again? Maybe
Staff and ambiance is great. Food which is what people go there is not so fantastic. The mezza honestly either present something edible or cancel it from the menu.
I am from the Middle East. What was presented yesterday is sorry to say horrible.
Being such an expensive rest, one would expect a different standard.
Food was not cooked
Came here for the prix-fixe meal before going to the Met last weekend. Food overall was ok but nothing special (and certainly not worth the $555 + tip bill we received). The reason for writing is that two of the four of us ordered the sea bass for their entree and it was raw. Simply... raw. It hadn't been cooked and was therefore couldn't be eaten. At $75 a fish, and in a restaurant of this type, this is unacceptable. The wine (recommended by the sommelier) was a boring burgundian pinot and not worth the $150 charged.

On a glorious, sunny summer evening in New York City we had the pleasure of dining alfresco at Boulud Sud. Loved it! The inside of the restaurant is also beautiful so if the day hadn't been so lovely, we'd have been happy there as well.
Our meal was so fabulous! We enjoyed an appetizer of Gambas al Ajillo, plump and delicious shrimp in a rich, garlic-filled oil with a snap of spanish chili served with plenty of fresh focaccia. We also enjoyed the babaganoush with lavosh which was another garlicky delight! Finally, we devoured the Chicken Tagine which was moist and flavourful. I also had the very imaginative Mirage cocktail made up of moroccan mint tea, vodka, pistachio, pine nut orange blossom water. This was not my favourite flavour combination but the presentation was fantastic!
We love this spot and will be back.
Perfect pre opera supper!
We had heard good things about this restaurant and decided to give it a whirl....the wait staff...friendly and efficient..perfect for what you are looking for if you want to make your play or opera...The food was creative and artistically presented...the dessert was the most delicious one i've EVER had!..delightful...if you get the chance to dine here...DO

A great experience from the start, as we were warmly greeted as we entered, and. once coats and scarves were checked away. taken to a table in the modern yet warm dining room. We had a friendly and very professional server who, once we told him we were on a pre-show timeline, ensured we had a non-rushed but well timed experience with our prix fixe meal.

We have been to this restaurant four times. We’ve had dinner as well as lunch. It is consistently delicious and the service is impeccably delivered. This is a special place and perfect for celebrating special occasions. We have never been disappointed. The lamb shoulder, grilled octopus, chicken terrine (and all desserts) are a good choice. This is one of our favorite spots in New York.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at Boulud Sud on last Friday and we are already excited about planning a return trip. From top to bottom, this was a professional, excellent experience. Our service was sensational(shout out to Harold our server and Ian the somm), and the food was extraordinary.
Being 2 of us, we chose to split a number of different dishes (hence why some of the portions in my photos look small, that is the split size). We started with the hummus platter which is a a great way to get going, we then had the crudo of the day which was I believe a cold water fluke with avocado crema (a different crudo daily, a must try). However, the stars of the night were the Sea Bass entree, and the Trout dish, which is apparently a new item. Both dishes saw the fish cooked to perfection, and blended amazing flavors and textures.
Excellent service, vibey atmosphere, wonderful cocktails and a fantastic menu. Chef Arruda and the entire team are doing exciting things at Boulusd Sud and we cant wait to be back
Sunday Brunch
My daughter and I ate here a few weeks ago. Once we got the table we wanted, the rest of experience was outstanding. Service was impeccable. We ordered several items to share including the short rib Barbajuan, the lemon saffron Linguini, grilled Daurade, and the Brioche french toast. We also order the "mon ami" na cocktails which were delicious and refreshing. Of course we couldn't eat all that, but they packed it up and had it waiting for us when we left. This was our third Boulud restaurant (Daniel, Cafe Boulud). It did not disappoint.

In the way to an Opera or a concert at the David Geffen Hall , a stop at this restaurant will bring you an additional joy. The dishes are so tasty, the wine selection is good. In addition you may bump into Daniel Boulud . That will be great .
