Winner Winner Fried Chicken Dinner
We lucked into their first โcommunity nightโ, a new Tuesday night special. Whole fried chicken with two sides and a bottle of GOOD wine for $80. Not only was the food delicious and service from Dan excellent, the tavern is charming with stone interior walls, rustic tables, and bench seating covered with cowhide (there is also chair seating). The food was served fresh and delicious and the whole chicken served family style. Sides at our table (party of four / two chickens) were roasted crispy Brussels sprouts, crispy potato wedges, baked beans with a lot of pork (served cold, tho), and jalapeรฑos corn bread which tasted of jalapeรฑos but was not hot spice-wise. Great dinner and WHAT A DEAL! If you like fried chicken go on Tuesdays!

This place on a 600-acre working farm is huge, and includes a brewery, a farm, a pond, a dog run, and lots of gardens. There is also a large tent with picnic tables and heaters on the premises, but it was a windy and cool day, so we made reservations for indoor seating inside the pretty brick historic farmhouse. As we were led to our table, we noticed that there were several rooms, and each was decorated differently โ from rustic to traditional. Between the four of us, we ordered the Pumpkin Hummus to share, Cauliflower Soups, two Roasted Chicken salads, and two Truffle Pesto Sandwiches. We paired our Lunch with three Beers and one Old Fashioned, and ended with the Chocolate Coulants and Lavender Crรจme Brulee. Everything โ from the savory appetizers to the sweet desserts โ was delicious. The ingredients were obviously fresh from the farm, the flavors had depth, and the presentations were nicely crafted. Our only problem was that the portions were really tiny for the price, so I have to take away one Star for that. The service from Dyanne was one of the best we have experienced. She was friendly, personable and knowledgeable about the Menu offerings. The general atmosphere was chic and classy. There are hourly tours of the Sourland Brewery. We did want to take that tour, but having missed it by just a few minutes, we could not wait for another hour to take the next one. Oh wellโฆ! Next time. Parking is plentiful. The drive here was a little far from home, but it was through some amazing farmlands, so we will have no hesitation in taking it again for a re-visit.

These guys are always amazing. The food is original (well, lots of good ideas from all over the place like a James Beard inspired pork butter), superbly prepared (the pear and red pepper soup came much thicker than expected - almost a paste), and served with style. Brick Farm Tavern is not fancy - no white table cloths - but everything is carefully chosen to maximize the experience, bright, and clean. Attention is given to all details from picking the right wine glasses and the right plates and bowls to curating a wine list that matches the menu. Kudos to the kitchen. Kudos to the wait staff. Kudos to management.

Came here for the Troon beer. However, the entire experience has been amazing. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and meticulous about ensuring they answer all your question. The pork shank was good but the honey grits were out of this world. Great beer, great food and great service. Very happy I stopped in and absolutely enjoyed the experience. A must try!

Brick Farm Taven is a favourite restaurant with a nice location and easy drive from Princeton University. The food is high quality using fresh, seasonal ingredients and staff are professional and friendly. Hightly recommended but book ahead.
Be the first to ReplyUnexpected disappointment
I've been to the Brick Farm Tavern many times and this one was very disappointing. I was hoping for a nice birthday celebration and should have been clued in when parking was an issue. I'm assuming they removed the valet due to the pandemic, but the place is not set up well for self park. Because there is now outdoor seating, the amount of people has more than doubled. It used to be a quaint place for a nice dinner and now it is just chaos. I have to say the food was good up until dessert. The crรจme Brule was basically egg custard with burnt sugar. Service was okay but way too much time between courses. Bread plate was a joke. There were 4 of us and we received 3 small pieces of different types of bread. I suspect it is the same size give for tables of 2. Spending so much on a dinner, I expect more and unlikely we'll return unless they rethink their customer experience.
Be the first to Replyamazing as always
I'm been in the restaurant many times also during the pandemic and always, always is a great experience. plates are good amazing flavor, new flavor, nothing is over cook or over seasoned like other said in their comments. Service is super good, i recommended this restaurant 100%, and i'm not living in the area, i drive 1 hr just to go to the restaurant. I HOPE NEVER GET DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS RESTAURANT.

Visited for lunch during a work event. The place is cool. The menu was set for the event, however the food was perfectly prepared and served. Staff was actually very knowledgeable and professional. I truly enjoyed and will return.

Disappointed. Went for a birthday celebration. Have visited before and had wonderful experiences. This time not so much. We asked that our appetizers be served before soup and salad but everything was served at once. The โshareableโ cheese plate was embarrassingly tiny and the โshareableโ salad pretty small. Rigatoni bolognese was bland and not hot. Chocolate mousse was delicious, banana pudding not so much. Server was smarmy and disingenuous. And - they added the 20% tipโfor parties of 6+โ despite the fact that we were a party of 5. Probably wonโt visit again.
Be the first to ReplyGood meal, but the place is at risk of being overhyped
The last time I ate here, I was convinced that the restaurant was one of the best in NJ. I chose it as my birthday meal this year for that very reason. It was okay. Like other places service was slow, so I assumed that this farm-to-table actually went to the farm to get our food. We have a lot of tolerance for this during COVID-19, but it is always noticeable when multiple tables come in and exit before you, when you have similar orders to those other tables. It's as if they thought it would be fine to ignore us. We were out by the back.
Drinks were divine and the bartenders at Brick Farm are talented. I tried to have them make something that was a bartenders favorite, having a raste for rye, but was advised that the more creative bartender wasn't there and to stick with what was on the menu. The server recommended good picks, so I walked away satisfied.
The food was okay, a little underwhelming for my tastes, especially at the steep prices commanded at this restaurant. It was cooked well, but the flavors were almost too subtle for my taste.
Broken bathrooms meant a wait in the restaurant.
It was nice to dine underneath the tent.
Enjoyable!
We were at the Brick Farm Tavern on a Sunday and had a very enjoyable meal.
Our waitress, Annmarie, was helpful describing cocktails and menu items. She also was kind in turning off the blasting music which was ruining the atmosphere of this lovely restaurant. We ordered their fish and chips, shortribs as well as their Snitzel dishes. All were delicious, and their chocolate cake for desert was a perfect ending to our meal.
No longer what it was
Sadly no longer the wonderfully authentic, creative, fresh farm to table restaurant at the heart of the community. Has sadly become the likes of a catering venue. Only interested in big events, forgetting about the individuals and families that supported it in growth and through COVID. Now you canโt get a table unless you are booking an event. Even the food and energy has suffered.

Terrible on every level- food, service, lighting, timing, price, and again FOOD! Overcooked. Under seasoned. Over priced. Everything was sweet. Wilted, Dry. Cold. Wildly overrated. Also since when does โfarm to tableโ involve $18 plastic bag drink โpouchesโ (2 drinks per) with a huge actual plastic straw?

We absolutely loved out time at the Brick Farm Tavern. We went for brunch on an early Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Thankfully we managed to get seats at the bar. The bar tenders were so busy making delicious looking cocktails but still managed to take good care of us. The draft beer selection was amazing with three from a brewery right behind the tavern. Our food was so good my wife had a burger made from local grass fed beef, probably the best burger we ever had, and I had a croque madame which filled me half way through but I couldn't stop eating till I finished. Can't wait to return.

Service and drinks were excellent and the more informal setting outdoors under the tent just perfect for a beautiful Friday evening. We were here years ago under a different chef and at the time we thought the food while fresh and local, lacked taste. That has not changed, although the prices now are more reasonable. Solid but room for improvement, although the best drinks around this area.

Beautiful setting. Great service. Delicious food. Drinks were interesting (thx for the paper straw!) and the menu was creative.
The gazpacho was rather tasteless but my husband enjoyed the steak. I really really loved the snow pea raviolli with mushrooms. Would have been amazing with crusty bread for the broth, but they had none. No worries. It was filling. The cornmeal pound cake dessert was very dry and a bit too dense. There was something missing, but I still enjoyed it.
Food was really beautiful. I hope to return.
Inventive cuisine and a casual atmosphere
We dined at the Brick Farm Tavern on Mother's Day, when the staff was pushed to the limit by a huge but socially distanced crowd. The hummus and empanadas were fine choices while the homemade soft pretzel bits were merely okay. We were both pleased with the mushroom ravioli entree. The pasta was light and properly cooked, and the mushroom sauce was extremely good. The "strawberry shortcake" dessert was fine but was more of a raspberry shortcake. The rhubarb bread pudding was excellent. Prices are relatively low given the quality of the food. The wine and beer selection is quite good. We sat outdoors under a tent and wouldn't do that again on a chilly day. The space heaters weren't getting the job done. Next time, indoors. All in all, a pleasant experience in an extremely casual setting.

Went for early evening cocktails and small plates. The setting was wonderful. Tent was spacious, seating well spaced, and scenery lovely. The drinks were great. Small plates were meh. I feel like they try way too hard to come up with overly pretentious dishes, which would be fine but the results are not phenomenal. Service was a little too attentive and did not quite take the hint that we were interesting in enjoying a leisurely evening after a year of quarantine. There was no obvious need for the table, so it was a little annoying.

Craft beer that is local, chicken liver app was amazing as was the squash ravioli, service was also exquisite. We will be back. Check out the distillery outback.
