Fantastic food and staff! don't miss
We visited on a cold rainy Monday around 11am. The staff was very attentive and let us know that we needed to make a decision of whether we wanted lunch or breakfast as they would be switching out soon. Fair. I elected to get a daily special of French toast-delicious-and my husband opted for chicken and waffles (not sure if it was a special or normal menu item). Our 11yo granddaughter opted for chicken sandwich. We all enjoyed our food immensely and the service was terrific. Will be back.

This is a unique and amazing dining experience. The food is sunning and the staff are terrific. Breakfast, Lunch or dinner you won’t be disappointed. This is a little gem in the heart of the city…….,❤️NYC ……❤️ Brooklyn Diner

Unwashed plates and a little bit greasy Uninterested waiters.. Please avoid we were all sick after eating here Should of walked out without paying
Be the first to ReplyGreat location, service and food
We had an early dinner here. Very friendly service and good food. I expect due to its location that booking would be advisable come the summer months and at peak eating times

As I already mentioned, in NYC, any tourist looks for the "Diner experience"... We all want to go to a diner that looks like the ones we see in the movies. But it turns out there are very few of them in the city. So we had to ask around and we were sent to Brooklyn Diner USA. From the outside it is what we expect from a diner. From the inside too, even though it's probably more chic than what we were looking for. We went for brunch and we were told that we didn't need to book in advance. I don't know if they take bookings anyway... but we had to wait in the cold for 30 minutes, which is not so pleasant. Once inside, the service was diligent. Each one of us had a different dish but all of them looked very austere (except maybe the French toasts): the pancakes, for instance, felt really alone in the middle of the plate... Everything was good but nothing was memorable... until we got the check: $120 for 3 dishes for brunch! I know NYC is expensive but this is another level! 😤 I said before the diner looked chic but it still was chaotic and very noisy. At some point, they even turned the music up so that any conversation became impossible. At that point we just asked for the check and left. That was not a pleasant experience... 😥 Quality & taste: 7/10 Quantities: 8/10 Atmosphere: 5/10 Originality: 4/10 Ratio price / quality: 3/10 Service: 7/10 How I felt afterwards: 4/10

Fun place, cool decor. Had eggs Benedict with salmon then pancakes! Wife loved it!!! Will visit again next time we are in New York
Be the first to ReplyTerrible— 23 bucks for a yogurt breakfast that claimed to have fruit. One strawberry and three blueberries. Sheesh.
Terrible experience. 23 bucks for a tiny yogurt. They claimed it would come with fruit but it was one strawberry and three blueberries. Buyer beware. Service was also incredibly slow!

Great diner. A reservation is not normally required. I lived in NYC and used to eat her regularly, just got back from a trip after 10years and my kids loved it too. Great burgers, the best fries, good milkshakes and always friendly service. Not the cheapest, but always a reliable choice.
Be the first to ReplyFood excellent with genuine sympathy service
Food excellent , exceptional service by Rick, who attended us with genuine sympathy. The Pastrami Reuben sandwich was one of the best i had … if you around the 57th, i do recommend you to go there …
Be the first to ReplyNo thank you
Scrambled eggs tasted strange. Polenta cakes not good either. Very over priced. No water refills. Will not return. $99 for 4 people for breakfast.
Be the first to ReplyStill great after 9 years
The last time I was in NYC was for the half marathon in 2013. Which was also my last time here, having been many times before. In my opinion it is a must in New York, especially for breakfast. The French Toast is up there, definitely the best in the city. Service is always spot on, especially when seated at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyFood good. Nice venue. Service is below par.
We saw there was a long queue for Carnigie diner over the road. We were told it was at least an hour's wait, so thought we would try this place jnstead. Food is really good. . Delicious Mexican omelette. Pancakes are incredible. Fluffy and delicious (but cold by the time you get all the bits) Instead of the waffles with bacon and eggs we asked for waffles to be substituted for Pancakes. This wasn't allowed... ended up costing us $18 extra. Can't be that hard and costly- really! Service is frantic. Hard to catch anyone's eye to ask for something.... as mentioned in other reviews. Coffee came at the end of the meal, despite asking for it repeatedly. Waffles appeared and had to chase for maple syrup, while food got cold. Asked for sauces, which never appeared.
Be the first to ReplyNow a typical tourist trap, wouldn;t recommend.
Very very average and now obviously a tourist trap. Food wasn't that great, had to chase for coffee, no water offered, butter, preserves and maple syrup only comes after chasing. Only time when our server came available when is we asked for the bill. We left over half of the food, no questions asked by the sever if everything was ok. Much better available locally so my advice would be to avoid.

The Brooklyn Diner is just off 7th Ave near Central Park and all the Area Hotels. The food is good and a little upscale for a diner with a good variety of choices. They serve alcoholic beverages as well. Since the pandemic they have had an outdoor option as well and its pretty nice if the weather is good. They make really good burgers and chicken soup. This would be rated higher but the service was spotty. Came quickly to get our order, the food arrived about what you would expect, but then the waiter went missing (had to get our own replacement fork after we dropped one), and then waited forever to get the check.
Be the first to ReplyA great NY experience.
Fantastic place for breakfast; eat outside or in diner. Attentive and helpful staff; good food, fast service and a great atmosphere.

Great experience. I wanted to have the full New York Diner experience and this place was perfect. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 was the food took about 35 minutes to reach our table. It was very nice when it eventually arrived though.
Be the first to ReplyThis is like at least a 3 trip diner.
If you're a foodie (if not, just order whatever and you'll be happy) but if you're a foodie, you need to plan at least 3 visits to the Brooklyn Diner to get the full effect. For starters, it's a cool place, the location just off the south end of Central Park between 7th and Broadway. The atmosphere is what you expect a NY diner to be, classy but not snooty, quaint but not crowded, and the staff and manager have just enough of that NYC flair that you think they may possibly be connected if you catch my drift. Now the food, just get the frigging pastrami sandwich. It's cut think, like dancing with a big girl, there's plenty to hold on to. And it melts into your mouth, you don't even need to sharpen your dentures for this one. Now, the fries, maybe they are just really good or maybe I caught a contact high walking down Broadway, but either way I could have eaten my weight in those fries. I needed about two more visits to try the dog and some other tasty plates I spied on other tables, but that monstrous cookie kept whispering to me from the counter. Skip the hot chocolate (you can't finish both anyway without becoming a diabetic) and just get the cookie. You could split it with a party of 12 if you need to, but get the cookie.
Be the first to ReplyA real taste of new york!
Lovely food, lovely setting. Had pastrami sandwiches, fresh and homemade. Perfect! Only problem was we had no room left for dessert as portions were massive!
Be the first to Replynice setting, average food , NYC check!
a nice place with the name of "regulars" like Sarah Jessica Parker placed on a copper plate in each booth, the atmosphere feels like New York for foreigners.
the food is classical, pancakes, eggs benedict, but our food came cold and the service was Brooklyn style ie a bit rough.
It’s diner food, good diner food
The portions are Huge at Brooklyn diner. Good service in a great location. The 15 bite hot dog was great and the chicken pot pie was also good. Giant plated portions, you won’t leave hungry.

Always go here for at least one meal when we're in "the big apple." To die for: the famous chicken pot pie, the fish tacos, and the egg cream (chocolate!) Planned to dine there on December 26th after seeing the matinee performance of "Mrs. Doubtfire" at the Stephen Sondheim theatre. The manager met us at the door at 5PM with the news that they were closing early because they were short-staffed. A bummer! We had been anticipating a good meal after a good show. Well, one out of two isn't bad, I guess. Disappointing, yes, but we'll go back on our next visit to NYC. P.S. We were able to get 5:30 reservations at nearby Patsy's so it wasn't a total loss.
Be the first to ReplyChicken Pot Pie The Size of Your Head!
We dined at Brooklyn Diner in between Christmas and New Years and our server was Jules. He provided great advice on the menu and was very friendly and professional. We had the chicken pot pie, chesseburger, french burger and chicken noodle soup. The pot pie is huge, and was very tasty. The decor was very interesting with photos of old Manhattan all around. We didn't have the ice cream, but it looked great when other tables had it served. Comfy little diner right near Broadway and Central Park. I would return to this location and would request Jules if he is working.

We went here on our last day in NYC. I was excited to go as had been previously and really enjoyed it.
On arrival the Manager advised that due to staff shortage service would be slower, this was fine with us. Food and service was in fact excellent. The downfall came when the server brought us the bill. I did tip 2 dollars less than the suggested top gratuity (the server had highlighted the top one on the bill). However the server came back, placed the bill back and stated that the gratuity needed paying, when I stated it had been, he then opened up the bill, pointed to the top amount and stormed off! The whole thing was extremely rude and he was quite aggressive. This spoiled our whole experience.
I will not return and definitely not be recommending people go here. Very disappointing
If in the area go for it - you’d be crazy not too!
Great diner experience with to die for pancakes at breakfast. Fast service and lovely decor make this an enjoyable experience for us when we visit the USA to sample some original diner eating!

Authentic diner we had four burgers with chips and a drink each which came to $145 reasonable food and service but nothing exceptional.
