ChooChoo missing the boat
Met our grandson and friends at this place for his birthday. Nice theme, nice story; an abandoned steam engine [number 917] found, dismantled, transported, reassembled, hooked to a small tender, pullman car and a caboose and turned into an attraction and restaurant. The place was nice, honestly beginning to see its wear, but nice, nonetheless. As with most small businesses, struggling with not enough help, forget quality help, just getting help seems to be the best anyone can ask for these days. This issue alone is being reflected in the food. Itโs decent, but not much more than that. Hand cut fries were limp, a bit greasy, and tasted of overused, slightly burnt cooking oil. Fried bologna was of good quality, however, way underprepared probably due to its incredible thickness [nearly half an inch] couldnโt possibly get warm enough without burning before service . Condiments are in packet form, kinda takes away from the real diner feel, but understood. I donโt know, probably wonโt be back, not for anything detrimental, just mediocrity, nothing to draw me back. There is, however, loads of potential. Oh, and add them to the list of worthless receipt providers. All you get is a stupid CC receipt. I get that same info from my bank 3 seconds after I pay, sure don't need that silly piece of paper. Besides that, receipt never adds up to the menu prices anyway, what we need is the itemized receipt.

The menu is on the wall behind the cashier who is also waitress. Had to stand there and order. Waitress/cashier was great however I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was tough and did not taste cooked . I was given my money back and an apology.

Be the first to ReplyFun diner for a great meal
I stoped at the Buckeye Express Diner on a recommendation from a friend. The experience was very good. The format is a bit different and the inside dining is mainly in an old train car. Very fun and different. The burger and fries I had Wes great and more than I could finish. Fairly priced and super friendly people. I canโt wait to return to try other thing on the menu.

Very cute train diner! Decorated all in Ohio State! We got burgers, onion rings and fried pickles. Everything was really good. Everyone was really nice. Very kid friendly outside also. World's largest bobblehead is there too! We definitely will be back!

We were traveling by this years ago and this year we timed it to be able to eat dinner here. This is well worth the trip especially if you are a Buckeye fan. The train car that you dine inside of is decked out in Buckeye decor. The cheeseburgers that we ordered were huge and I thought there is no way I can eat this, but it was so good I had no problem.

My Wife and I have been here a couple of times. Food was ok. Always took a while to get our food. For what you get, I think it is pretty$$$$, for just getting a sandwich and fries. all of our food was lukewarm and the fries were greasy as shi@, under cooked.

Very neat experience, and the food was very good. The portions were very generous. Enjoyed the atmosphere.

The diner was perfect. Great food and the atmosphere was nostalgic. As a railfan, it was over the top.
Be the first to ReplyGood Burger of Buckeye Experience
We, two adults, ate late lunch on Saturday afternoon. There was a sign on the front entrance, said slow services due to short stuff. It was not crowded and a kind of slow service, but no problem at all for us. We ordered Mushroom Swiss Burger with Onion Rings, Woody Burger with Homemade Fries, and two soft drink. Both burger were good, especially Woody Burger had an interesting taste by horseradish bacon sauce. We paid about $40 including 30% of tips. We will be back there!

Diner was next to motel we stayed in. Looked like a fun place. Go in, order and take a seat. Train car lined with tables. Lots of Ohio State decor. We're from WV, but not hold that against them. Lol. Food was good. Fries hand cut and give you tons. Yummy. Loved the atmosphere! Would stop back if in the area.

The food was amazing, best italian sub I've ever had. The fries are delicious. Dining in a train car is a fun experience, especially for kids. Michigan fans beware, this place is for Ohio State fans only!
Be the first to ReplyCool place but overpriced
Weโd seen this place many times on our way to/from going to Ashland University and finally had a chance to try it out. Very cool place especially if youโre an OSU fan. We got a mushroom Swiss burger and a regular burger. They came with a ridiculous amount of yummy fries (look like hand cut type). The burger itself was a bit bland. It was a decent size (1/2 pound) but honestly would rather have two thinner vs one thick burger. The Swiss and mushrooms were a great add on for flavor. Fountain drinks are unlimited refills. Overall a fun atmosphere with very friendly staff but overpriced ($29 for 2 burgers, fries, drinks). I would rather have a single thin patty and 1/2 the amount of fries (we could have split but they come with the burger) and paid less.

Great experience! We showed up with 9 people and they didnโt bat an eye. The food was great, true diner fare. Most of us couldnโt finish it all. But we had a little room for dessert, which was also spectacular. The prices were good, the service was fast and very friendly, and it was easy to get to from the highway. If Iโm ever in the area again, this is at the top of my list to visit!
Be the first to ReplyNot a good experience
The restaurant wasnโt clean. The table was sticky and my bottom stuck to my chair. We were served food in plastic baskets with thin paper that the food soaked into and made a mess. Owner was rude to us.

After driving by this location for years, we finally decided to stop. We wished we had stopped sooner. Once inside, you give your order; then take your seat inside the railroad car. We both ordered a cheese burger and fries. Both were excellent. One order of fries would have been enough for the both of us. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of parking. A must stop if in the area.
Be the first to ReplyUnigue idea for a dinner
I had read on computer that this place was voted Best old fashion diner in the state of Ohio. I came from western NY and met several friends and we tried it. The train concept is very quaint. We were all seated at tables pushed together to accommodate all of us. But the tables were very rocky which made it difficult for eating and drinks. I did not like that I had to put my order in upon entry and than sit a wait. To hard to scan a menu board and decide what I wanted so quickly. Service was pretty fast. The sandwich I ordered was very good, but it came with fries that were very greasy and way over done. Most of us didn't eat many of the fries for that same reason. Cost was very reasonable. I guess it was typical diner fare. Not sure I would want to try it again.

Wow just by luck we found this place, a little pricey but Large, really big portions. My Mushroom cheese burger was 1/2 lb of good hamburger and a huge pile of F.Fries with choice of 2 sides. A must try for yourself, nice old trains, farm equipment, little playground for the kids. A really good stop on our way to Mohician State Park

We seen this on only in your state Ohio website and had to give it a try. They had many cool things to check outside. Their Philly cheese steaks were delicious and their fries as well. The coolest part of the experience was eating in the railcar.
Be the first to ReplyBest burger and fries on I-71
Best burger and fries I have had in a long time. When I am passing through I try to stop here. Love the mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries.
Of course the theme is all Buckets which is fun. Some of the items are getting older and a refresh may be needed but to me it is about the food.
