This was my second time at Buddha Bar.
This time there was a DJ. Music was great but it was a bit loud at dinner. I ate less sushi this time and tried different items. I loved the tuna tartare with caviar and avocado. I would definitely get that again. The red snapper was also a fave. I wasn't crazy about the salmon crispy rice. I enjoyed both the pearl and aperitivo sour drinks. The ambiance is really nice! Perfect for any celebration. If you're taking someone out on a date, request the table right in front of the Buddha!

We all ordered the prix fixe, A deal for $60 a person. We additionally ordered the duck dumplings and the octopus. The octopus was juicy , fresh and tasty. The dumplings were moist and delicious. The hamati crispy rice was a novelty we all enjoyed. The mushroom fried rice was moist and c implemented the rest of the meal. Two of us had the state, which was perfectly cooked. The entire meal was delicious. I recommend the lychee martini and a real Moscow mule. Our waiter, Kenji, was very attentive and always there. He made very good recommendations. The huge color changing Buddha is a great photo op. Everyone was taking photos there. The huge space made for an ideal ambience. We will return.
Be the first to ReplySuch a classy restaurant in the city.
We were there on the Valentine's night and it was so beautifully decorated. A reservation is needed in advance. The interiors were so well decorated and there is this huge Buddha statue at the centre which is well lighted and brings charm and peace to this place. The services were excellent and our menu did not have much options for vegetarians. However, our waitress made sure to replace it for us which was great. And the food was delicious too

Service was not as proficient as I would think, Was sort of a long wait just to get the menu. The food was decent but you're definitely paying for the location and aesthetic . I like the idea and interior but I was quite disappointed
Be the first to ReplyThis is a such a great restaurant! At first I was hesitant
This is a such a great restaurant! At first I was hesitant to go as I feel like it had become THE spot and it just felt like it would have been an overcrowded over rated experience. But I was wrong! We had an amazing time with great service and great food. Atmosphere: This really is a beautiful restaurant. They have these gorgeous stairs you come down into the restaurant and the buddha is on those stairs. They have LED lights that are constantly changing the color and designs on the statue but done in such a subtle way that it doesn't hurt your eyes. The decor here is classy and elegant and feels very chic. Food: The food was flavorful and well presented. They have a separate menu for vegetarians/vegans. Side note, it hasn't been updated as frequently as their general menu so there are a few more veggie dishes that may not be on this menu. I'd ask for a general menu too just in case. We really enjoyed all the food we got there: cauliflower bao buns, maitake bao buns, vegetable rice, crispy noodles, and mapo tofu. Our favorite was the maitake bao buns and the mapo tofu We split these items among three people and it was enough, although I will say maybe we needed one more thing. We also got the tiramisu for dessert and it was perfect, not super sweet or with overwhelming amounts of coffee flavor. Drinks: We got 2 cocktails and both were delicious and strong. They were presented in a pretty manner and felt like true mixology cocktails opposed to something generic. Because we booked our reservation through our "Select" membership, we got both our drinks for free! A great plus, since a cocktail there cost about $20. If you don't have Select but you dine out a lot, I'd consider signing up. You can use this link and you'll get $100 when you sign up: https://www.meetselect.com/referral/meets-44825351 Service: Service here was so pleasant and unlike so many high end NYC restaurant. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating as opposed to other high end places that can behave a bit snobby. Our water glasses were always filled and food came out fairly quickly. We also didn't feel rushed. This was a great experience and I highly recommend others check out Buddha Bar

Excellent food even thought portions were small , get drinks and ambiance. Waiters were great and very patient. We were the first ones there
Be the first to ReplyThis review is only for the bar area.
We had eaten in the area and wanted a place to relax. They had a DJ by the bar. It was club music with no words. The DJ did a great job. The bartender knew how to do her job. My Polynesian was delicious and strong. I thought it was well worth its price. My Husband said his old fashion was properly made. It was a great night. I would come back just to relax in this bar area.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day dinner.
The vibes seemed really nice at first. Things got worse as the evening went on. The entire time we were disturbed at how unacceptable the service was. It took TWO HOURS for the food to come out on a price fixed menu that had no customizations. In total we were there for well over 3 hours..... and there was not one apology..... totally unprofessional and disappointing. Would never recommend to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyTried the dinner here during restaurant week.
. service was really slow even when it was Sunday and wasn't at capacity, our starters arrived really late after 25 minutes.. after multiple attempts to grab the attention of server, and it was ready as it was just yellowtail jalapeño which aint much of preparation.. so it came instantly when i asked for it, so just because of negligence we had to wait. Avocado crispy rice was another starter, really small portion and bland in flavor. Portion sizes are really small for the price even less than Michelin star restaurants I have been to.. not worth the money in my opinion. I was not full even after a 3 course menu they offered during restaurant week. Not even once did anyone check to refill water or asked if we liked the food. Their sesame chocolate bar dessert was really good though. I found it really overpriced for the flavors +quantity of food they serve. It was one and done experience Ambience was really good though but there are places in NYC with better food quality and similar ambience.
Be the first to ReplyI loved the atmosphere, food, and amazing drinks! The staff
I loved the atmosphere, food, and amazing drinks! The staff were super friendly and attentive. I wish the music wasn't as loud. Felt a little rowdy because of it. I am obsessed with the Serenity Cocktail drink!!! Vodka, matcha and lychee pure!!! All my favorite things in one drink! The sashimi platter is also amazing. I will be back for sashimi platter, serenity, and the chicken dish again! The brussels sprouts were undercooked... could've been more roasted and cooked. But overall, a great experience!!!

Honest review- ambiance is beautiful, food is good but can be better. Prices are high but that's the point. Friendly staff with longer wait times than expected. Honestly mid. You can find somewhere better for sure. Go to Tao instead!

Buddha Bar was amazing!! Absolutely phenomenal food, ambiance, and service. Definitely lived up to it's name. Our server, Joseph, was spectacular and made sure every single one of our needs were met. He was extremely attentive and treated us like his top priority. He was very personable and gave us great recommendations! Food was very delicious..we got the korean fried chicken, mushroom fried rice, pork, cabbage salad, mango dessert, and the coconut cheese cake. All so delicious! Definitely recommend the lychee martini, the best i've had! Will be back soon for Joseph's service and fantastic food!

Buddha bar, contrary to the name did not represent the Buddha principles of understanding, effort, and livelihood. It was a celebratory birthday event for one of my close friends, which was almost usurped by injuries, and unwarranted attitudes. We were told due to "health code reasons" we not allowed to place balloons, cakes, or blow candles out. The points were valid if not for the condensing delivery. Followed by the alleged "health code reasons" as garbage, car exhaust, and ratatouille were scrambling a mere feet from the door entrance. Furthermore, my livelihood was nearly shattered as I tumbled down the dim lit stairs reminiscent of the dark ages, and twisted my ankle. To my surprise the staff was quick to provide aid as if this was a daily ritual for patrons in their establishment. The manager confirmed that herself and other patrons had taken falls down the stairs, and yet no proper modification, extra lighting was provided. Thus, demonstrating a lack of effort to provide a safe environment for customers. Our waiter embodied calmness, professionalism, and was understanding to our plights. The delicious food provided dopamine to squelch the throbbing pain in my ankle. The portions and servings were adequate, the taste was exquisite, and almost removed all semblance of my suffering, until the bill provided the final assault on my peace. If you're looking for broken bones, shattered events, and condescending attitudes this is your destination. For a name dedicated to Buddha, this was the farthest you'll ever be from nirvana.Legal action might suffice as a deterrent that will prevent further injuries and unnecessary falls.

We came here after dinner to have a chill night drinking instead of clubbing. Good choice especially since it was raining outside. Tried apple martini for the first time! Stem of the glass was sticky, but all in all a good drink. More sour than sweet. Also got a lychee martini after to keep the martini streak going.

Came to eat with my bf on February 19th, when my bf went to the bathroom the server with the longish hair in a man bun came to yell at me at my table for asking one of the ladies who was serving water at the table for gluten free sauce. The lady was extremely delightful and we had a very sweet small talk with her in the beginning of our dining experience where she had spoken perfect English. When I had asked her for the gluten free soy sauce the server with the man bun came yelling at me to not talk to the lady or any other "bus" person, that none of them speak English and that if I need anything I must ask him. I was disgusted by his response. The food was great, but the service was horrible.
Be the first to ReplyThis location is honestly so gorgeous , the food is ON
This location is honestly so gorgeous , the food is ON POINT and is just a great place to sit and enjoy a delicious meal so this hurts to give it a 3 star review however with the price you are spending for a dining experience I feel the whole experience needs to be met to give it a 5 star and unfortunately Buddha bars waiters need to absolutely improve and go through re training or just basic queues to pick up on .... The waiters I had were very bland and non chalant attitude I wish I tookNote of their names but I was trying to have a fabulous time not get hung up on details but they had a very non chalant attitude almost like they are annoyed to even be there and work And at the end of my experience that's reallyAll I could not get over let's start ! they kept rushing us to order when we were taking a decent timeTo read everything and really know what we wanted we just needed 5Minutes from the moment we sat down and needed to read the menu and I never felt so rushed in myLife to make a choice with such a big menu to choose from ....in under 5 MINUTES Once we ordered the waiting staff couldn't wait to take the plate away from you or have a bus boy run and snatch your plate from right under you , I was not even done with some ofMy food and constantly had to remind or tellthem to stop grabbing the food away from under me when I clearly was not finished , I was enjoying the ambiance and vibe and the food that I was eating at a good pace not extremely slow but enough to take it all in and have the fullExperience ... It was annoying and noted that it did not make me feelComfortable and no one likes to be rushed or to hurry up and order this isn't McDonald's don't rush me ....The location is honestly so nice , the music is a vibe and everyone can enjoy it ! The lighting is wonderful and soft very good for pictures and selfies, the layout is beautiful and makes you feel very chic to be here ! The bathroom is beautiful I am a sucker for a pretty bathroom in restaurants lol very clean , the Hostesses and coat check ladies are very polite and a friendly face to see when walking in as well as the cleaning staff stayed out of the way but did their job and always had a welcoming smile and there's a girl who opens the door for you when entering the bathroom who was also very polite and had a warm smile every-time you looked her direction The food we ate was excellent We tried the Korean fried chicken , and the sauces it came with absolutely delicious and served with a a serving of gochujang & a serving of green chilli sauce on the side both excellent and pair well with the fried chicken For a small plate My husband and I also shared a robust plate which was the Wagyu skirt steak honestly one of the best skirt steaks I have ever tasted , presentation and flavor is 10/10 If you are up to try new flavors and enjoy food from the heart you will beyond appreciate this steak we ordered it medium rare and it was topped with a pistachio cilantro pesto !!! It was honestly so amazing and every bite melted in your mouth .... We also shared the seasonal vegetable fried rice it was truly packed with flavor and tasted so fresh every bite was honestly so good the rice had pineapple ,baby corn , and Shishito and every ingredient compliment the rice so well and did not disappoint ! We ordered two cocktails ! The descriptions of the cocktails is what honestly made me go hmm and I need to try this ! My husband had the serenity Which was a Belvedere vodka a lychee purée ,lemon and matcha ! Excellent my husband couldn't get a enough Im not big on matcha but still tried a sip I ordered the French Polynesia ! Which was a vodka , Chinola liquor (passion fruit), pineapple juice and SALTED COCONUT FOAM ! Which was mind blowing so delicious !!! We ended our night with a coconut cheese cake we regretted not ordering one each but we were so full from all the delicious meals we shared but once we had a bite of this delicious desert served w a coconut sorbet we could have pushed for a second but it was wow ! We could not stop reliving the first bite rent free in our heads lol Food is hands down very good and worth every $ ! After having myOwn experience of how rushed I felt I know everyone who had told me similar experiences were not over exaggerating but we all had the same head space food is great but the service needs to improve with the waiters for sure !
Be the first to ReplyGood atmosphere and very good service.
The food has good presentation but for the high price I don't find anything special. It's more template American style sushi and not authentic Japanese style. The raw fish is normal quality, for the price I should be getting higher quality fish and rice. Nothing wrong with the dishes just should be much higher quality ingredients for the price. I can get much better quality steaks for this price so the sushi ingredients must be higher to justify the prices of the dishes.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere beautiful and the service excellent. We were treated promptly upon arrival. Other places I have been to even with reservation there is a wait but we did not have to wait long at Buddha. The food was also top notch, me and my friend really enjoyed it, we were full and satisfied in the end.
Be the first to ReplySave yourself from going here.
This was a complete horrible experience, the ascetic is all Buddha Bar has going for it. Where do I begin... My reservation was for 9pm I got seated at 1020pm. Which would have been fine if the food was good. The wagyu was burnt and tasted like charcoal. The chef needs to be replaced with someone who knows how to cook Wagyu, save yourself and don't waste your time more importantly.
Be the first to ReplyWent during resturant week with friends to try, well
Went during resturant week with friends to try, well everything possible. In short, You can find better. The alcoholic drinks are super fun and super tasty, average drink costed about $18. (Try the million dollar man)The atmosphere is very classy, plenty of "picture perfect areas." When we went they had a dj so the music was pretty loud, but we're young so we're okay with it.Let's get to the food and the service. The service was just below average, Friday night, of course it's going to be busy and talking over loud music is going to make a servers job harder. (Just to take into consideration.) despite that, our server wasn't as attentive as they could've been. We even had to grab drinks from the bar a couple times. We spent 4 hours on 3 courses and waiting for our table. The food was pre set, you get a good amount of options to choose from. We tried the bao buns, salmon roll and tuna roll. The bao buns were good, different. The best roll was the tuna but it wasn't out of this world or tasted extremely new. This restaurant doesn't advertise itself as a "organic" and "wild-caught" sushi place but as Asian-fusion. So the sushi was just average, good but average. For entrees, I would 1000000 times come back for the wagyu. The wagyu seasoning was delicious and so tender. We also got the swordfish which was okay. The fried rice, very unique, tasted great but managed to have just too much going on. The desserts are aesthetically pleasing but the croquettes were average. The mandarin was refreshing and very good.
Be the first to ReplyCompletely over hyped restaurant.
Food was ok. Drinks were ok. Best part was the photo op in front of the big Buddha.
Be the first to ReplyI came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and I didn't
I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and I didn't know what to expect. The menu offerings had a lot of items that I wouldn't expect to be paired together. The prices were unjustifiably high for the small amount of food you receive. I ordered the Iberico Pork Secreto and it was undercooked. I couldn't tell if it wasn't cooked or if it was the seasoning and juices because it was dark in the restaurant. I've never known pork to be served medium or medium-rare. I sent it back to be cooked some more and I ate everything except 2 pieces. My server didn't even ask how I wanted it cooked. The Seasonal Vegetables Fried Rice was ok but I asked for soy sauce because it was dry and missing something. The soy sauce made it perfect. Overall, you're paying for the big Buddha statue because the food wasn't forth the prices.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place.
Monica was are bartender and she was awesome. Made us an amazing lychee martini!
Be the first to ReplyIt's cute and aesthetically pleasing.
But is it just me or are restaurants too dark nowadays? Anyways, they have a DJ! I ain't gonna lie she's a major vibe for dwights. It didn't hit like that for me. I'm not gonna say I wasn't vibing at all, just not like them lol. BUT LETS TALK FOOD! 1. THE DRINKS- MID. The first lemon drop was WAY better than the second one. The second one was on life support lol. The lemon wedge actually made me mad but whatever. Rendezvous (the orange drink with the leaf) was okay. It's Mount Gay Rum, Chile Ancho Reyes, Mango and Guava. The mango and guava was honestly over powering. So 5/10.2. THE APP- Miyazaki A5 Wagyu which is the crispy rice, soy emulsion, garlic chips topped with a thin slice of Wagyu steak. THE STAR OF THE SHOW!!!! It's so tender and melts in your mouth! If it wasn't for the fact that it was $54 I wouldn't ordered it 3 times 12/103. THE ENTREES- aight so boom, the Wild Mushroom Truffle Fried Rice. Not gonna lie, it was a lot going on with the dish. So off of that alone, people may not like it. I love truffle, but to my surprise the rice didn't bang like I thought it would. It was still very much enjoyable 7.5/10 - Wok Seared Scallops. Plated with snap peas and tofu. Delicious. The peas were cooked to perfection. The perfect crunch that I personally love because some restaurants over cook their peas. 8/10. - Grass Fed Lamb Shank. Plated with spicy cumin noodles and napa cabbage. The noodles weren't spicy. Very tender. The XO sauce was too salty and not giving what xo sauce is suppose to give. 5/10

At 10:15 pm, we were told that our 8:45 pm confirmed reservation wouldn't be honored, after being told multiple times that we were "the next table." Be ware of these phony reservations -- they just want people to spend money at the bar. Bridge and tunnel crowd.
