Absolutely loved the food served here at Burma Love! My party booked this reservation 2 days in advance and we all enjoyed the service we received here. Overall 5/5 experience with the food and would highly recommend this spot for those interested in trying some of the ethnic cuisine offered in SF!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, try the calamari and prawn noodles.
The ambience is great and the service is friendly and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely love Burma.
10/10 every time. Our go tos are the platha & dip, chicken with fresh mint with coconut rice, coconut chicken noodle soup. Love the ambiance as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was okay and the service was okay.
We got the Burmese curry, shrimp garlic noodles and calamari. It wasn't seasoned well the broth on the curry was really runny. The noodles only had some flavor if you dipped in the chili sauce. The only good thing we had was their cocktail. Even their milk tea was bland. Everything was under seasoned. It was a very underwhelming experience. As someone who has lived in Asia most of their life, this place is not authentic.

Overpriced ok food, ambiance ok, service was not good even though there were many servers they were too busy in conversation at opposed to actually taking care of their customers. they asked for us to pay before the food was actually brought to the table. Didn't check on us one time after food was brought. Don't understand the excellent reviews. Meh

Had a reservation for a larger group on a Thursday evening and we were able to get seated immediately. It's a pretty spacious restaurant and we got seated at a table with a lazy Susan for optimal family style sharing. Would recommend taking public transportation to get here though, as parking is difficult in this area. I always thought I was just neutral on Burmese food, but I think I just haven't been to the right places. The food at Burma Love was spectacular. Started off with Tea Leaf Salad, which was truly a party in my mouth with all of the various crunchy textures from the nuts, the fresh lettuce, and the beans. They say salads only taste good with lots of ingredients, and this salad indeed had a wide variety of toppings. Each bite was a little different and was a pleasant surprise. We also ordered the Platha & Dip, which my friend described as "if roti and a croissant had a baby." So many delicious buttery layers of the bread with the flavorful chicken sauce on top. The Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup was comforting and rich and one of my favorites of the night. Felt like a warm hug, and the chicken in the soup was tender. Loved that the toppings were beautifully laid out on the side as well. Other dishes we ordered included Minced Chicken with Fresh Mint, Mango Chicken, Nan Pia Dok, and Wok Tossed Chili Lamb. Each dish had such distinct flavors and I could really taste the freshness of the mint, the sweetness of the mango, the bouncy chew of the noodle, and light spice of the chili lamb. All very well crafted dishes. I wish I could've taken buckets of the coconut rice home; it had a strong savory coconut flavor with fried onions on top and really pulled together all the dishes in this meal. Ordered a Burmarita for my drink, which tasted like a standard margarita but with a twist with the tamarind. Great meal and great spot for a group!
Be the first to ReplyThis is my new go-to.
Beautiful and warm atmosphere, with really attentive servers who were so knowledgeable of the menu. We got the rainbow salad, which was incredible. It had lots of different ingredients in a chili oil dressing and several different types of tofu. It paired perfectly with the Shan Noodles with tofu. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sauce used in this dish was savory and addicting. For both dishes, they were tossed together table side, which was a really nice touch. For drinks we got the Kipling's Elixir and Lost In Mandalay, both were very delicious, but I'd have to say Lost in Mandalay was my favorite, as I really love smokey mezcal cocktails. Another big plus for this restaurant is that they have a large menu, so we are excited to come back and try everything they have to offer.

Food was incredible and the server was great at recommending things based on the most vague information about our tastes. The decorations are simple and elegant. Great place for a date night.

Burma Love still shines! We were worried the place was overhyped but we're not disappointed. The tea leaf salad is magnificent, with a great combination of textures and flavors. We also highly recommend the beef curry, which paired well with the coconut rice side. The coconut rice itself is impressive and has more flavor than any other coconut rice I have had. This place should definitely be on your list when in the area, but be prepared for a bit of a wait. Head over to Zeitgeist next door for a beer if you are stuck waiting.
Be the first to ReplyThe acoustics are horrible in here.
You have to yell for the others sitting at your table to hear your. My ears were assaulted by the noise of everyone talking. A stressful dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, excellent cocktails and great service.
Hard to go wrong. If you are going as a large group, I'd highly recommend making a reservation
Be the first to ReplyWoah the food here is actually amazing.
This was my first time trying Burmese food and I can definitely say I'm a fan. I started off with a Blood Stone cocktail and it had quite the punch; very unique and delicious. For food, we shared a couple dishes:Garlic Noodles w/ Shrimp - the noodles were SO good, the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Overall a perfectly balanced dish!Pork Belly with Mustard Green - WOW this was also SO good! The port was perfectly tender and flavorful, and the mustard greens were also so flavorful. I will be thinking about this dish for a while.Coconut Rice - we got this as a side for the pork, but omg it was so good even by itself! The rice REALLY had a strong coconut flavor and I was living for it. I absolutely will be ordering this every time I go here.Really an amazing restaurant, and the bar seating is perfect and actually a bit quieter than the main dining area. The food also came out super quick and the service was great!
Be the first to ReplyFood was alright.
It used to be a lot better but something has been subpar lately. Service was bad. There were a espresso based drinks (espresso martini) and desserts (affogato). We just asked for the espresso to be given on the side and that they could upcharge us for the whole dish. The server refused with no reason. Put the whole group off. I recommend taking to go or ordering delivery. Dining in at this restaurant isn't worth it.

Tea salad and spicy lamb were both superb! Definitely recommend the coconut rice with any spicy dish.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food.
Get the ginger salad, you won't be disappointed. I'm ready to take another road trip there. Yum!
Be the first to ReplyI visited this place sometime back on a Saturday for lunch.
This was my first time trying out Burmese food and I was super excited.Their menu is overwhelming in a good way and has a lot of good stuff. After going through the menu thrice we decided to order the Platha and dip (chicken) and chicken wings for the appetisers.Honestly the Platha and dip was amazing, so creamy and delicious with the perfect balance of all the flavours. The chicken wings were alright nothing great. For the main course we had the Mango chicken and I was a little hesitant to order this because I didn't know how it will taste. But the Mango chicken was the star dish for our lunch. It was really really good. I really liked the food here and would love to come back again and try out more things on their menu.Their service was also top notch. The servers were quick and very warm. I would highly recommend trying the Mango chicken which was my favourite dish here.

Love this place! The famous tea leaf salad, garlic noodles, broccoli, and fried green beans made for the perfect dinner combination, especially since I was looking for something flavorful, but light and nutritious. Washed down with the delicious Burma superstar cocktail, I couldn't have been happier with my meal. The salad was sooo crunchy from the peanuts and fried garlic, and the garlic noodles had the perfect sauce and chewiness, especially paired with fried tofu. The veggies made for great sides from; while the steamed broccoli with garlic was refreshing and lighter, the fried green beans had a nice crunch to it. I came in a group of 4 on a Saturday night with a reservation, and we were served really quickly by the most kind and attentive servers!! Highly recommend this spot for date night, a solo dinner at the bar, or to bring friends visiting from out of town. It's a very cute and classy spot, but still casual enough that you don't have to dress up for it!
Be the first to ReplyThree of us had an early dinner at Burma Love on Monday
Three of us had an early dinner at Burma Love on Monday night at 5:45 pm. When we arrived, there were lots of open tables, but they all filled up pretty fast, and the noise level went up as well. Arriving early also helped with the parking situation, which seems like it could be difficult in this area.Service was prompt and attentive, but I think there were a few mistakes. We ordered the Chicken Burmese Samusas as an appetizer, but the chicken was either ground up so fine that we couldn't find it, or it was actually the vegetarian version we got. We were too hungry to send it back, and it tasted great, so we didn't complain. We also ordered the Laphet Thoke (Tea Leaf Salad, mixed by the server at the table), Spicy Noodles with chicken, and the Shrimp & Eggplant With Garlic Sauce. We asked to make the eggplant dish mild, and the spicy noodles whatever the normal spice level is. But it seems the spicy noodles were really mild, and the eggplant was spicier. Miscommunication by the server, or that's just how they prepare the dishes? Both were delicious, except the eggplant was very salty. So much so that when we had leftovers last night, we mixed it with a sautéed zucchini and mushrooms over bulgar, and didn't add any salt to the added ingredients. The modified dish was STILL very salty! For dessert, we ordered an Affogato (Buko ice cream topped with an espresso shot and dark cacao nibs). This was delicious, and a perfect topper for the meal. Each of us also ordered a tea. Total, including a mandatory 5% Employee wellness benefit, tax, and tip came out to $140. Bottom line, would we return? Probably not. It was good, but weighing everything, including the missed orders, parking situation, and the request that we leave the restaurant at 7:25pm because the table was reserved for another party, we'd probably opt for another restaurant next time.
Be the first to ReplyMy BF and I dined at Burma Love last week.
We sat at the bar. The environment was great. But what was greater was the food! Oh my it was amazing! Drinks were great. We would most definitely go back and recommend to our friends.
Be the first to ReplyLove to love Burma Love.
Man can't say enough good things. Cocktails were great! We always get the rainbow salad and curry noodles. Food comes out very quickly and staff is very accommodating. Atmosphere is nice and put to date. I wish they had a Burma love in LA!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite restaurants in SF!!!!! I've been here
One of my favorite restaurants in SF!!!!! I've been here twice now so time to write a review. The reason why I love this restaurant is simple: the food is delicious. If you could only order 3 dishes, I would recommend:1. Platha with dip2. Tea leaf salad3. Crispy chicken wingsBut also the noodle and other chicken dishes are all so good. Everything just bursts with flavor at this place. The amount of sauce is always just right. Everything is so juicy and fresh. The tea leaf salad is surprisingly one of the best things I've tasted in a while. I'm taking off one star because the waiter forgot to bring my brother's drink for so long (after being reminded) he got it after we finished our dinner. Maybe it was just a bad night. I'd still come back.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely love this place.
The plantha and dip is amazing, curry is delicious and we just tried the Shrimp with Chutney dish which was phenomenal. FYI it has a shrimp paste in it, so if you're not into fishy tastes, it may not be for you, but my husband and I were huge fans! The fried banana ice cream dessert was to die for. One of my fave restaurants in SF. We will definitely be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyI love the Burma SS fam and have as a local supported them
I love the Burma SS fam and have as a local supported them for years and years. They have gone from a singular underground affordable local fave, to a popular local chain with higher prices- but I get it and I still support them. The soul is still there. However, the other night I ordered the "staff favorite" :the vegan ginger salad. It is rare for me to order salad at all if I have other options(sole exception being the Plutos on Irving- R.I.P.) , but I was enticed and was desiring something refreshing. Also, in the photo it looked like a generous and filling proportion, and I trusted that if any place could deliver on a delivered salad it would be at a Burma outpost. I had had a salad in house before and it was good , so I thought why not? Well, I got a narrow box of literally - I measured it out of curiosity- approx. 1/4th of a cup of shredded lettuce, a quarter slice of lemon, some peanuts, and sesames , and a side of ginger in canola oil.The taste of the salad was fine don't get me wrong, but I know that 1/4th of a cup of basic shredded lettuce, and some inexpensive fixings (ie:handful of peanuts) is not worth $16 (that is pre- taxes, delivery, 20%+ tip, etc). I have never complained about the cost of food at a restaurant/delivery as I am fully aware of the rent, salaries, etc. to be factored in, but seeing that substantial carnivorous meals are the same price, or even less than (!) the 1/4th cup of shredded lettuce I received, I must vocalize my disappointment. With that being said, I do recommend highly the eggplant and garlic dish as it is far more generously sized, and if you order a side of their delish coconut rice with it , you can make yourself a very filling entree. If you must try one of their salads (outside of eating one in the restaurant), you can still support them by purchasing one of their prepackaged salads at rainbow or mollies - both of which they are now associated with and both of which have at least twice the amount that is given for delivery. I am not giving a lower rating as maybe my salad was a one off experience and I don't want to lower their average. Also, maybe people who don't make and eat salads on the regular, think that 1/4th cup of lettuce costs $16? Idk. I still love the restaurant I just have learned my lesson with delivery options.
Be the first to ReplyOverall this place looked classy and the service was fine
Overall this place looked classy and the service was fine but I was very dissatisfied with my meal.First we got the roti as an appetizer, that was quite good so no complaints there. Next we got the beef curry - this was almost entirely meat, and just a small amount of potatoes. But man this had to have been the worst beef I have had, they were huge chunks of extremely dry and tough meat, by the end my jaws were dying and I could barely chew. At this point I was pretty disappointed but still looking forward to the 'fried chicken'. What came out was not fried chicken. It was a 1inch by 1inch hunk of chicken breast covered in a huge mound of flavorless dough. You could say that's just how the dish is but in my opinion it tasted awful compared any fried chicken I've ever had. And then I got the bill (around 80$ for two people), and I told myself I was never coming here.
