Must be there again again and again
Wow! Being Italian I generally skip Italian restaurants abroad but not this time following the advice of my wife living here in Washington. It has been a wonderful experience. Food like at home. Service at top level. Patrick took care of us in a very professional way. Pizza - we had a focaccia - perfectly made. Prosciutto sweet and tender. Tomatoes tasting as Italian organic summer time tomatoes. Priceless. If you want to experience a spot of Italian taste and tip level service you cannot miss this place. It will be my place any time I will back to DC. โค๏ธ

Be the first to ReplyDid not disappoint!
Date night before a show and this place was perfect. We started with amazing charred baby artichokes and the charred octopus with lentils. Both were excellently seasoned, charred, and plated. From there we shared the veal and spinach ravioli that was also amazing; that sauce was somehow light but indulgent and very seasonal with the sage notes. We also shared the Chilean sea bass with garlic and fennel, another hit. The fennel itself could probably have used an extra minute on the heat for maximum caramelization but the fish was perfect. For dessert we had the pear and hazelnut napoleon. A bit hard to eat with the pastry layer being so firm, but the flavors were perfect, especially the roasted pears. The cocktails were spot on and the delightful Gary took very good care of us all evening with excellent wine recommendations and personalized service; we felt very much like treasured guests. We came fairly early in the evening so did not notice any issues with noise that other reviewers have complained about. The place isn't cheap but it's Georgetown and they clearly invest in their service, atmosphere, and ingredients. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyOkay but no better
I was here for a group dinner. We had a separate room (a tent-ish area sufficiently insulated from the outside) so we could not hear the noisy main dining area. We had a limited menu with decent choices. The food was okay but....the fish main course was significantly overcooked and dry...and the other dishes were not memorable. Service was good. I just couldn't find my way to give a fourth star. Yet someone liked the place because the main dining room was crowded (as well as noisy) so there may be more of a reason to come here than I can report. They did an okay job with the group dinner....except for the fish!

Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was marred by an unfortunate incident. Despite the quality of the food and the overall ambiance, I encountered an employee whose attitudes were racist and xenophobic. This behavior was unacceptable and negatively impacted my experience. It is crucial for the establishment to take steps to address this issue and ensure an inclusive environment for all customers. Matias andres Mundaca Contreras

Very overrated. The tomatoes were mealy and the pizza tasted like propane. Great service and a beautiful atmosphere though!
Be the first to ReplyOverrated. Extremely overrated.
Overrated. Extremely overrated. Service is formal and attentive. However, the ambiance is so loud that you have trouble hearing your dining companions. The food itself is average. Three of the people in our party have lived in Italy and we agreed that the food would be just average in an average mid-scale cafe in Italy. Bottom line? You will not get an amazing authentic Italian meal here despite its high prices.
Be the first to ReplyAn Exceptional Italian Restaurant in Georgetown!
Members of our family recently joined to celebrate the high school graduation of our youngest grandson. The menu at Cafe Milano was extensive and it was difficult to make a decision. The food itself was outstanding. I had the Ravioli Del Plin Cavalier, which was a โhouse made braised veal and spinach filled ravioli in a veal and sage reduction.โ It was definitely the best ravioli I have ever had! At least one other in the group had the same dish and enjoyed it very much. Two others chose the Tagliatelle Zegna. Again the pasta was house made and had veal, pork and beef ragu โBolognese style.โ My husband was one of the two and said it was like being in Bologna! Everyone else was very pleased with their choices too. When it came time for dessert, two of us had the classic Italian tiramisu โwith coffee mousse, lingua di Gatto cookie, and chocolate coffee beans.โ They raved about it! Two others, including myself, shared the Delizia Al Limone. It was fantastic! The limoncello soaked all the way through! The house-made gelato was also a big hit. Our waiter was helpful, funny and attentive. Our only negative comment relates to the slowness in receiving the food and thus a lower rating. There were long gaps between each course. Even the time between the bread and drinks was long before we received the anti pasta (which was also delicious). After the main course, it seemed to take forever for the desserts to be served. Perhaps the kitchen was short handed, but there was no explanation or apology given.

This restaurant is simply not worth the hype! There is so many staff that it is quite irritating having a staff member at your table so frequently. When they are not at your table they are buzzing around close by - itโs not relaxing at all. My pizza was the most horrendous pizza I have had in my entire life. It was so burnt that I took the ingredients off my pizza and just eat them as a salad. To be fair, I could have complained there and then. I did not initially complain because my pizza tasted burnt - not the little crispy bits that burn on top - I mean that underside tasted like ash. I was not convinced that even by getting a new pizza they could rid their pizza oven of such dirt. The staff apologized profusely and removed my pizza from the bill but I left really frustrated and hungry.

Cafe Milano is a restaurant not to miss. The entire staff from the host, to management was professional, on point and perfecting. Our server, Emmanual, was no exception. He suggested menu items, and explained them when we had questions. The food followed suit. All of the meals were cooked to perfection.

We love this restaurant but it can be challenging to get a reservation, especially on short notice. I was so excited this past Wednesday when I got a 7:00 reservation. The problem was, we arrived 4 weeks early! I had made the reservation for March 18 not February 18. The MaitreโD was very gracious and made an accommodation. We had a lovely meal that started with the stuffed squash blossoms, then the veal and spinach ravioli in a sage butter sauce . My husband got the veal parm and I had the Chilean sea bass. Both cooked to perfection. As must try if visiting DC. The place to see and be seen but plan ahead and make your reservation early.
Be the first to ReplyOur experience there was better than many of the reviews.
Dined here for dinner on the recommendation of family who lives in the neighborhood. Our food was very good and the portion size was adequate. The service was a bit different. When the service was attentive, it was very attentive but there were periods where we wondered what happened to our server. While not terrible in that regard, we found it weird that service was either over the top or completely absent and nothing in between all in the same visit. We see some reviews on price and we did not think this place was crazy expensive at all. We dine out frequently and see prices that leave us in sticker shock but this eatery was not one of them.
Be the first to ReplyVery bad experience in Washington
This restaurant did not accepted Credit Card Payments. It does not have mobile card payment system. It takes our card! And in my case sad that did not accept cards with a pin !!! Worst Experience!!!

Iโll echo many previous comments: food is very pricey and very delicious, service is good but definitely on the reserved side (polite but not warm, except our server who was lovely). Charred calamari, wagyu carpaccio, lobster fettuccine, tonnarelli, porterhouse special, tiramisu and lemon cake. All were excellent. It was a wonderful birthday dinner!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, high prices, unfriendly service
Visited this restaurant for lunch and sat down in a well air conditioned room with lots of staff available and very nicely decorated walls and tables. We did not receive a particularly warm welcome, the staff all seemed distant but mannerly without many smiles or warmth. The menu was filled with unusual and special choices which we found appealing - the prices were very high so we expected quality from the food and we did get the quality we hoped for. We really enjoyed the Wagyu Carpaccio starter and the Pork Chop Milanese. Both delicious and very tasty. This place would benefit hugely with a far friendlier manner towards customers. All the staff seemed exhausted at lunchtime and as if we were a mild irritant to them. There were only two occupied tables inside and three outside, so things were not over pressed or challenging we felt. Much more smiles and warmth would really compliment the superb food. The dry and disconnected service lets the place down, in short.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great service!
Met Candido and Neto at Martinโs Tavern. They invited my wife and I to come check out the restaurant they work at. Next day did that. Had a great time with good food and drink. Say at the bar because this place fills up, even on a week night. Bartender, John Carlo, was great. All three of them have a passion for what they do. Glad to have made some new friends.
Be the first to ReplyDont dont DON'T
I dont remember a worse experience. Its true we didnt understand where we wrre, its a very high class restaurant and we just wanted coffee and salads. We were treated with complete distain. We got our 2 salads, 20 dollars each. 3 pieces of salad leaf with a tiny chunk of cheese. We then asked for coffee. I asked for a biscuit (cookie) beside my coffee. I got 3 or 4 small biscuits- assumed complementary-and was charged $15. It cost 78$. I dont care about the cost. I was with my daughter and happy to be so. However the attitude was appalling and unnecessary. I wouldnt go here out of principle and would recommend the same to others.
Be the first to ReplyOverrated and overhyped
Cafe Milano is the place where a certain type of Washingtonian likes to go to see and be seen. It is accordingly overpriced, overrated and overhyped. The food is excellent but the service is poor if you're not some sort of local politico or celebrity. Then you can expect to be fawned over. Some people probably like that sort of thing.

Quite nice italian restaurant. Nice food, nice environment. The staff could be a little bit more friendly. The entrance to the toilets needs some attention.
Be the first to ReplyWorth every penny
Excellent food, but it is high priced. As a starter the grilled Calamari and then the fish risotto. Both dishes have been worth every penny. Very well prepared. The waiter was very attentive and had good advices. The Pinot Grigio went very well with the fish. The sweet among us should try the Tiramisu it is really a perfect desert for an Italian Lunch.
Be the first to ReplyA bit overrated, but safe choice.
I had a business meal at end of March which was a great atmosphere. Lionel Richie was in the back room having a get-together which was really interesting. The food and atmosphere were crowded and happening. I went there with my wife the second week of April and it wasn't as nice - seemed less appealing and the food was not as good. However, it was still a very nice meal and atmosphere. There is parking across the street which closes at 9. A better option is a parking garage to the left of the restaurant which is open 24/7. Too bad there wasn't valet parking at the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyCafe Milano Disappointing Pricey Experience
Made reservations for a pre-theater dinner on an early Friday evening. While the restaurants had many open tables, we were seated in likely the worse seat near the bar with very heavy traffic. Music is loud and makes conversation for a senior couple a bit difficult. Many couples came after us and were seated in better locations. Orders were taken and bread served but table had no napkins which we had to request. Started with Fiori de Zucca (soggy), main a Cafe Milano pizza and Ippoglosso (halibut) with a arugula salad. Halibut was perfect but arugula salad was just that arugula. Service was professional. There are a lot of restaurant staff in suits wandering around. This was an average meal and very disappointing. There are many other Italian restaurants that have atmosphere and finer foods in Georgetown. Parking next door $12.00 for two hours.
Be the first to ReplySpent six days on south Beach
Spent six days on south Beach Miami and cafe Milano was by far the best beach side restaurant we visited. Great Chardonnay and food. The two girls out the front who welcome us in are lovely and the service we received from Jose A was second to none highly recommend this restaurant it is a must during your stay in Miami

My husband and I had a fabulous dinner upstairs tonight. It is like a different restaurant up there. Downstairs was fun and lively, upstairs was quiet with beautiful lighting and attentive service. Everything we ate was delicious and we are looking forward to going back soon!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed in return visit.
A great evening with great company but a very average meal. We had enjoyed our last visit in 2020 but this visit just didnโt meet our expectations. The staff was just getting through another night. Our food was ok but not exceptional and the wine list was overpriced.
