Overpriced wine, average food, pricey parking
Went with a friend for dinner. Reservations highly recommended if you want to sit on outside patio. We had a drink at the bar first, It was happy hour so my wine was not priced too bad. However the mark ups on the wine are double any other restaurant in the area. We were seated on the patio, which is nice being upstairs, but tables are very close together. My meal was average at best. My friend got the Chippino which had good flavor, but the calamari rings in it could have been used as rubber bands. Service was adequate. It costs 10.00 to park in nearby structure, the cost of this and the wine will keep me from returning.

Best menu collection of Mediterranean food. Very friendly staff. Must try their chicken kabob plate. Everything in the plate tastes amazing. Must try.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Very disappointing dinner. The wines, and we tried 4 different glasses, were among the worst we ever have encountered at a restaurant. I believe they are too old, as all were 5+ years old for white wines. The Greek one was a 2016 and tasted oxidized, while the 2017 Bandol was so bad we left it on the table untouched. The Wiemer Riesling was too sweet and the Washington state gruener veltliner was alcoholic. The hummus, babaganoush and calamari appetizers were fine and on the generous side. The Greek salad was mostly lettuce. I wouldnโt recommend it. If you go, bring your own wine and pay the $25 corkage.

What a lovely evening! We celebrated my son's birthday at Cafe Santorini, and the whole event couldn't have been more pleasant. Grilled shrimp with angel hair pasta, seafood, lamb... all excellent. And we had the best hummus with our appetizers we've ever had. Honestly, go take a break at this exceptional restaurant this summer. Perfect night out with the family.

Enjoyed our foodโฆvine leaves followed by fish - both very nice, as was the pudding. Service good. But no WiFi โฆwe asked for the WiFi passcode twice and we were declined it โฆ we had to order an Uber but couldnโt.
Be the first to ReplyDate night..
Set a date night in Cafe Santorini this October evening. The weather that night was great and we were seated at their outside patio dinning. The staff was friendly & courteous. The food was awesome - had the seafood risotto and my wife had the penne chicken and wine & apple cinnamon tart for dessert.
It was a romantic date evening..and I strongly suggest to get a reservation or youโll wait.
Will definitely set another date night.
Scam at a Restaurant in Pasadena
We were surprised that the menu was different and the prices higher, but the worst was after ordering the entres took 45 minutes to bring the food. Pita bread was cold and at the end when they brought the check ,we got at 2% charge for Covid 19! What a scam! We have visited different restaurants much cleaner, taking more protection, tables at 50 % capacity which Santorini had every table booked and very close to each other and the had the audacity to charged an extra 2% and for mediocre food. Will no go back!

Fantastic dinner on the rooftop patio- what a gem of a spot! Very attentive service and truly delicious food. Grilled calamari was so fresh over lightly dressed greens. Branzino was cooked perfectly. They were so accommodating with dietary restrictions. Owner stopped by to chat with us. This is a must do restaurant for sure!
Be the first to Reply'Cafe Santorini Can't Make Moussaka
I used to frequent this restaurant years ago but couldn't remember why I stopped going. Well, after giving it a try last night I can recall: Ridiculously high wine and food prices that do not at all reflect the quality of the food. While the second floor patio is lovely on a summer evening; it doesn't make up for all the other inadequacies. We shared the vegetable mezze platter that was totally uninspired with insipid stuffed grape leaves, cheap olives and limp, cold pita bread. I can deal with that but what was really disappointing was the Moussaka, a Greek eggplant casserole. For starters, it was blackened around the edges. The sous chef or whoever didn't peel the eggplant skin leaving a bitter taste. It was also infused with potato slices, which I had never seen in a Moussaka before last night. The bechamel topping was barely apparent, probably burnt off. Overall, a disaster for $24. And then there is the matter of the service. The waiter was absent for long periods of time and it took an hour or more for our entrees to arrive. Finally, the wine prices are outrageous. Talk about gouging. Maybe you can find a couple under $50 but not many. I believe that is inexcusable in California.
So you would be wise to pick another restaurant in Old Town or elsewhere rather than Santorini. And if you crave a summer night's breeze then enjoy it on your own patio or another outdoor space. Because what does it say when a Greek restaurant can't cook one of the signature dishes of Greece?
SUPERB meal, FANTASTIC service, UNFORGETABLE experience! Priceless!
Completley FANTASTIC and will always be VERY MEMORABLE! Party of 5 of us ate here for an early 3:15pm 'ish dinner yesterday, Saturday 6/12/21 on the outdoor patio. I don't know where to begin. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious! Super fresh, D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S.! In all we ordered 4 appetizers, several sangrias, a couple michilada's, a couple of mojito's, 5 entree's, 5 specialty coffees. But I have to talk about the service. WOW! This was literally THE BEST service we have ever had, at any restaurant.....EVER! We just love the 2 gentlemen (that are obviously) VERY experiened, kind, attentive, respectful, classy! They actually anticipated any future need or request before we even realized we would need to request or ask. The dinner was a first time meeting of "parents", who's daughter & (my son) are dating seriously. So it was important to have a positive experience for our first meeting. Cafe Santorini outdid themselves! I had actually brought specialty cupcakes made from a gal that won "Cupcake Wars" and before we even asked, they brought over dessert plates, forks, knives, took our varying specialty coffee orders. Pretty classy since we didnt buy their desserts! Now.....mind you.....it was a pretty hefty $450.00 bill (tip included) that my 26 yr old son insisted on paying for. He's just starting out in life. Although his big heart is appreciated...(today I transferred $350 to his account.....(as us adults are more established). I have to tell you.....the price was worth the experience! We even shared one of the cupcake war cupcakes w/one of the waiters.....those guys were LOVELY! SUPERB meal, FANTASTIC service and an UNFORGETABLE experience! Priceless! Thank you Cafe Santorini!
Be the first to ReplyTop Quality Comfort Food
I have been eating at Cafe Santorini for over 25 years, and it has yet to let me down. Nothing fancy, just straighforward Mediterranean comfort food served in an accomodating setting by earnest staff who treat each guest as if they really want you to enjoy your meal. Grilled kabobs and standard mezze choices--hummous, baba ganoush, tsasaki, and enormous fresh salads--simply prepared and amply satisfying. Each time I leave Santorini I look forward to when I will return.
Be the first to ReplyMy wide fell and this place is closed and all the main chef said is you should not have gone
This place is closed and we walked in and fell down now my wife's leg is fully brused. She could have died since she fell in a bunch of metal. Worst case is when I saw the head chef, we told him what has happend after he came to lock the door he said we should not have gone up if we knew it was closed. I asked him how we were supposed to have known its closed since I made a yelp reservation that kept confirming and the door was open. We went up to see if they had outside dining. He said its our fault we should not have gone and was becoming aggressive. Just because of the chefs behavior, I do not recomend this place and will definitely contact my lawyer to find for adequate compensation.
