I love this place and MOST of the staff are lovely, but I just had a terrible experience with the manager. Halfway through our drinks, he threw down our checks and said there were reservations waiting outside. We acknowledged, paid and were wrapping up. 2 minutes later, he came back and aggressively asked us to leave a second time. I said we were midway through our drinks, and to give us a minute. At this point he is almost yelling at us to get out. Inexcusable behavior! I feel sorry for any person to has to deal or work under this man. Completely ruined this place for me.
Be the first to ReplyGnocchi was interesting, but still very tasty.
Excellent charcuterie board and good drink selection. Nice ambience, music was at a perfect volume.

Stopped in to get a drink on the way home and I was floored by Camillo's finesse. It's somehow both a neighborhood spot and elegant! I had the best Negroni I've ever had and want to come back and try each of the other 7 varieties they offer. The bartender was friendly, speedy, and competent, and the whole place was running very smoothly. Looking forward to coming back for dinner sometime soon.

Stopped by for a couple glasses of wine before attending an event nearby. Seemed like a neighborhoody spot with a handful of regulars coming in. I had a glass of Nero D'Avola and a glass of Nebbiolo San Quirico. Both were fantastic. Pretty solid wine selection. Solid beer selection too. Just two beers on draft but both were local crafts. Lots of can options too. Seemed like their hallmark was their Negronis. I'd be interested to return to try one of their Negronis and some food. Service was attentive. Two gender neutral restrooms located in their basement.
Be the first to ReplyGood and service are amazing at Camillo.
Make a reservation because it fills up quickly and we've had a couple of occasions where we were turned away for dinner. You can't go wrong with cacio e pepe or quite frankly any of their pizzas, the Negronis are amazing, and we love the artichoke appetizer.

We had some trouble with getting seated initially, waited about 15 minutes until they checked back in with us. Understandably they were short staffed. Food quality wise, magnificent! From appetizers to drinks to the entree. Roasted goat is a must have. Flat breads are very tasty. My favorite part were the drinks. The Mezcal Negroni was out of this world. Perfect place for catching up with friends in a nice and friendly indoor restaurant.

If I could summarize my dining experience at Camillo in one word, it would be: fan-friggin-tastic.We reserved a table online, and the process was a breeze. Even though we were a little early, they gladly welcomed us and made accommodations to seat us promptly. We started off with a wild mushroom pizza (Funghi), and that was a crowd pleaser. The salad (Insalata Mista), not so much. The main dishes were 'chef kiss'. Several people ordered the oxtail pasta (Coda alla Vaccinara), which they enjoyed once they realized it was a braised oxtail sauce rather than actual whole pieces of oxtail.I loved my order, the Abbacchio alla Romana. The goat was fall-off-the-bone delicious. I'm craving it as I write this. This is a can't-miss dish. I promise you. The service was friendly and engaging. Great value and an awesome dining experience with authentic Italian flavor and hospitality.I highly recommend this gem of a place, and I look forward to dining there again very soon.

Really great cocktails. Love the mezcal Negroni and pizzas are always cooked perfectly.

Consistent high quality Italian! Comfortable dining room (although sometimes a bit noisy) and lively bar seating (ALWAYS fun and a great way to meet your neighbors if you live nearby). Don't be afraid of the higher prices especially for this neighborhood/part of Brooklyn. You are getting what you pay for ... some of the best Roman-style Italian food and crafted drinks. My friend goes to Rome 2x a year and says this place is exactly what you'd find tucked away on a side street where locals gather and away from tourists. One more thing ... the staff are ALWAYS outstanding, friendly, professional. If you like to people watch and see how a restaurant is run well, then sit at the bar and watch the bar tender be a beverage specialist extraordinaire, maitre d, waiter and great conversationalist. I promise you won't forget this place and you'll be welcomed back anytime you appear at the door.

Will not return, waited 20 minutes before any acknowledgement from host. When we finally ordered my pizza was hard, crunchy, and salty. I thought it was the style of pizza until I saw the people next to me. Their pizza was softer and bendable. I alerted the waiter who did not want to acknowledge my disappointment and was dismissive
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food.
Fair prices. Friendly AND professional staff, great cocktails and a pretty good wine selection. Plus a full glass front facing the street for people watching. The interior is beautifully decorated and they do the Italian thing authentically. It's clear they have a passion for it and are not dabbling.

Love this place but why aren't there meatballs as an appetizer...... i would love to have a taste but not a whole entree. Also, can we figure out how to get sides of pasta?
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Italian spot in the neighborhood.
Solid carbonara and cacio e pepe - been here twice and tried both. Can't go wrong with the pastas here, pretty filling and great selection. Great drinks too - wine on tap, good beers, and great summer drinks! My favorite is the tiramisu, wow - it's so delicious. I find myself craving this delicious dessert often. Great service and my friends have been going to this place for a few years! Happy to have finally stopped by, I'll be back! Inside is super cute and clean, COVID precautions are still up, and there's a few seats outside too.

I'm lucky to have this quaint Italian (Roman-style) restaurant in Prospect Lefferts Garden amongst these Caribbean restaurants. The food is so fresh. I've been here twice. I recommend getting pinsa/pizza here. Pictured here are the Salsiccia & Broccolini (pork sausage, broccolini rabe, tomato, mozzarella and Bufala & Proscuitto. The proscuitto pizza was good and made me feel like I'm eating healthy. This pizza can easily be shared among two people or one person with leftovers. The crust is light and slightly crispy. We also ordered the Fresh pappardelle pasta made oxtail & beef cheeks braised with red wine, tomatoes & cloves.I enjoyed the Camilo board/charcuterie board and my Negroni. Camilo is known for their Negronis which they have many variations. This is a perfect place to come for a date or have a intimate dining by yourself or friends.

Tony and I hit up Camillo recently ahead of a concert at Kings Theatre. What a treat this place was. I would definitely recommended it.Here are a few highlights:A+ for the custom Negroni cocktails! Definitely get one of these. Of course, they feature the traditional recipe Negroni, but their exotic iterations on this classic drink are pretty awesome! OMG for the fried artichoke. No words for how good these are (look at mine and other reviewers' photos).Yummy all around for the pasta dishes! I'd say yo likely can't go wrong with any of these. The only dish that was "just okay" for us was the Baccalà-- a Alaskan cod with roasted with tomatoes, olives, capers, mashed potatoes & fresh oregano. The fish portion was a bit small, and the dish just wasn't mouthwatering like everything else we tried. As for the atmosphere at Camilo, the interior appears to be mostly new construction with a modern Italian cafe sensibility. It is definitely super inviting. The staff are also first rate--that is, they are all very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and drink selections, and quick to accommodate.
Be the first to ReplyFunghi Pizza multiple times, Pancetta Platter is meh.
Drinks are strong! Food is good. Service is friendly & attentive. Menu changes fairly regularly. Will return.

Vacationing in NY and wanted to try some good Italian food to make up for our last poor choice. This one was on the way back to our hotel. We didn't have a reservation but decided to see if they will accept walk-ins. Luckily, we were able to get a table. It is a small but cute restaurant. We ordered the Insalata Mista (mixed greens salad), Bufala & Proscriutto pizza, and Coda alla Vaccinara (oxtail pappardelle). We were delightfully surprised after having our first bite of the salad and equally happy with the rest of the meal. The food was very fresh and not overly dressed but the flavors were amazing. We even entertained about having a second meal there before flying home. Well recommended.

I've tried this restaurant three times! The first time i thought that the menu was cool but the food was too salty. My husband and I loved the atmosphere and decor and were happy to have a new place to eat out that was close to home. Because of the salty food but very imaginative food we took a break and went back a year later - same issue and another customer who we didn't know even said to us "wow the food was so salty"; took another break and went back with a friend - the waiter asked if we had a reservation; seriously? You're a neighborhood. We order our food - pizza - the waiter brings me the wrong pizza and when i point this out he tells me that i am wrong and that i told him what he brought! I was hungry and over it and kept the wrong puzzle. IT WAS TOO SALTY!!!! Salt is meant to enhance the flavor of food not to park it with saltiness! I won't be going back! Try using herbs to heighten flavor and use less salt!

Came here with a friend, we got seated right by the bathroom even though there were plenty of other tables and we had a reservation. The waiter grudgingly moved us, but the service was kind of surly for the rest of the evening. The whole wheat pizza is really good, ditto the fried artichokes. We were hoping to try the sambuca, but the waiter never came back to ask if we wanted dessert, etc., so we just got the check and left. A little disappointing because I'd been here before and had a really great time and enjoyed the food, service, and ambience. Not sure I'll go back.
Be the first to ReplyThe tiramisu is good.
I tried the gluten free pasta which I was glad they offered, but I was disappointed at how uncooked it was (twice) I think they need to learn how to cook it properly and they'll be good. I got charged $4 extra for the the uncooked gluten free pasta. Overall the flavor was good for the vaccinara (?) pasta. Good music at the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyGreat food above with good service is always a hit with me.
We shared a few appetizers ( 6 of us) Buratta was great tasty and delicious. But the home run was the fried artichokes really over the top mouthwatering. We also shared a small pizza that was good. Everyone got different pastas and we shared some of them. I had a pasta Alfredo that was so dam filling I almost couldn't finish because it was so rich. But I just had to. I'm looking to go back in the next few weeks. You should too
Be the first to ReplyI came here a few months ago and enjoyed it.
Simple, but cozy set up. I had the cacio e Pepe... Not my favorite of all of the local Italian spots, but overall, quite good!

This neighborhood Italian restaurant is perfect for when you're craving a delicious meal and cool, dim lit, relaxing ambiance. I've eaten here both times and both times had a wonderful time. From the service, to the wine selections along with the carefully crafted dishes, it most definitely keeps me wanting more. My personal favorite is the Cacio e Pepe. Perfect al dente pasta with the perfect mix of cheese and pepper - will definitely be back for more!
Be the first to ReplyIf I could eat here every night, I would.
The carbonara is the best I've ever had, and those fried artichokes are perfection. The bartender and waiter are very friendly and welcoming. It's a wonderful spot in the neighborhood for authentic Roman food. I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Even the goat was delicious. Salads are big enough to share and the pinsa pizza are light and crispy. Sitting at the bar is my favorite spot. Look forward to my next meal there!
