I love this place because the portions are generous and the food is quality. Kid's menu is "the bomb". Brussels sprouts were sublime. Corn bread perfect. Salad and marinara sauce fresh from the garden!..you will see us back soon. Great energy!

Such solid food and service, and the ambience is unbeatable. It's cool to see that they're operating efficiently with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is so beautifully set up.I recently came for a small dinner with family friends. It's always fun to look at the menu, since this changes a bit throughout the year. It can be a bit of a struggle to choose, since everything sounds so uniquely tasty. We had a few items that night, including the Brussel Sprouts, Shishito Peppers, Cornbread, Bean Soup, Kanpachi, Chickpea Panisse, Sweet Pea Agnolotti, Spice Crusted Cod and Fried Calrose Rice. Yes, we were hungry LOL...but I have to say, all the items blew us away. The Brussel Sprouts were extra crispy -- you really can't go wrong with those. Even though I'm not typically a fan of soup, the Bean Soup was hearty and delicious. I also didn't have many expectations for the Chickpea Panisse, but this had an impressive amalgam of flavors and textures. Great option for a vegan dish. The curry sauce on the Spice Crusted Cod really pulled that dish together and paired with the fish very well. Our cocktails were also fantastic. Especially loved the Yogi Bear Gimlet and the Yellow Number Five. And do not sleep on their desserts!! My favorite part, personally. Our server, Liz, was awesome. Made for a memorable night :').

My second time back at Camper and it was absolutely delicious !! We ordered a number of dishes - everything was amazing and I definitely left the restaurant extremely satisfied.Kanpachi Crudo - This was a lovely, light way to start out the meal -very bright flavors, the pepper was a nice added kick.Vegan Paneer - This dish blew my mind, I couldn't believe it was vegan! The textures and flavors from the other vegetables meshed so well together, it was definitely a standout dish to me.Spice Crusted Cod - The cod was super tender and crispy on the outside. The sauce was rich and complemented the fish well!Fresh Ricotta Agnolotti - This dish is always a go to when I come here, made with seasonal vegetables - this time, a creamy pea filling. This pasta dish was such a lovely mix of spring flavors, relatively light and overall, just super yummy.I will most definitely be back again soon !

I usually only leave positive reviews, especially during COVID, but would like others to be forewarned. I left the meal angry and confused due to having a bad experience despite spending well over $100. I'll try to be factual so others can judge for themselves. 2 stars for the food which was excellent (especially the pasta and bean soup). We were really excited to eat here and wanted to love it. Unfortunately, we won't be back due to their extremely slow service (waited almost 90 minutes for our entrees, while larger or same size tables seated after us ate, paid, and left) and mystifying seating policies (we had a reservation and our request to sit in the nicer outdoor area in front of the restaurant was denied due to "being really booked up" despite it being 2/3 empty). Details:For the service: We ordered early in the evening when the restaurant was still half empty. The table next to us sat and ordered after us and got one appetizer earlier. That was fine, but 75 mins after we ordered they had gotten all their food, been offered dessert, and been brought the check, while we were still waiting for our entrees. Our server hadn't checked on us for 45 mins or so and we asked another person. They and our server brought out the food within a few minutes, saying "here's your food", no apology or recognition of the wait time. It actually arrived 5 minutes before the 1:45 cutoff time for the table. For the seating: We arrived before 6pm and noticed the Santa Cruz outdoor dining (plants and heating lamps) was much nicer than the University Ave option (neither). It was still 2/3 empty. The host appeared to be taking us to the University option so we asked to sit in the Santa Cruz area and were told "No, we're really booked up" and were sat in the less nice section which was half full. Of note, we are visibly not white. We left around 8pm and noticed that the bigger and nicer Santa Cruz section (10-15 tables?) appeared to be entirely white and have no children. The smaller and less nice University section (8 tables?) appeared to be either people with children and/or people of color. Is this a coincidence? If the chef/owner sees this, I don't need an apology as he seems to like to leave on other negative reviews. I would like an explanation since I'm currently very confused. What is the policy for seating Santa Cruz? If we had a reservation, why were we not allowed to sit there? Do you need a "special" type of reservation in order to sit there, and if so, how do you get it? Did each of the 10-15 tables there make a "special" reservation? Is this what the host meant by being "booked up" even though it was mostly empty?

I've been coming here frequently over the past year and have previously raved about this place to so many people. I used to be this restaurant's biggest advocate.Unfortunately, tonight was a massive miss. I decided to come here for my birthday, and made reservations well in advance for outside. When we arrived, it took them 25 minutes to seat us after our reservation time. When we'd check in to ask the status of our table, the manager (?) Was rude and acted impatient, as if we were being high maintenance for even asking. He did not apologize once and had an attitude like we were being difficult and unreasonable (I assume this was the manager because the hostess seemed to defer to him for questions; he was an older, lean, balding guy). Not sure what the point was of making a reservation if they didn't plan on actually reserving a table for us.After we were finally seated, it took our server 15 min to ask us for our drink and appetizer order. Then she forgot one of the drinks and had to be reminded about it once appetizers came out. Ok, not such a big deal. Then it was time to order our entres. I and another member of our party ordered the crab pasta. I specifically asked our server if they could ensure that the pasta came out hot, because several times in the past their pasta has not come out hot. The server said she'd convey this to the kitchen. The entres came out about 25min after the appetizers were done. For both myself and the other person who ordered the crab pasta: The pasta was lukewarm, and neither of us could find ANY crab whatsoever in the pasta. We were wondering if they forgot to put it in. The pasta was really just not good at all--very bland and cold. On top of this, our server never came back to check if we'd like another round of drinks (we had finished our first round during appetizers). The saving grace of the night is that our server was really friendly, and they did bring out a complimentary desert for my birthday which is nice.However, it really pissed me off that we made reservations for a special occasion and still had to stand in the freezing cold for nearly 30min (they clearly did not honor the reservation we made). On top of that, they were completely unapologetic about it and the manager looking guy was very rude to us. I would be understanding if the employees were at apologetic about it, but instead we were treated like an inconvenience.I chose to come to this place to celebrate my birthday because I've always loved it and used to be their biggest fan (service and food has always been phenomenal in the past). However, I probably won't come back to this place or continue to recommend it after tonight.

If they were going for a theme of roughing it while dining, they captured it. We dined inside on a wooden table without table cloths and both the side door and front doors which were left open by the staff in January. Our appetizer was burrata cheese plate which typically is served with heirloom tomatoes and basil, however our came out with artichokes. It was hard to taste it over our chattering teeth from the cold breeze in the restaurant. It did feel a bit like camping, however there was no campfire to warm us...I had the pasta with pork ragu and my wife had the Atlantic cod. The food was good, however we got it to go as soon as we tasted it. Hard to enjoy the dinner when you are now sitting with your jackets back on and only wishing that you brought warm hats. If you are looking for a $250 camping while dining experience, this is it! Bring your parka.

Glad we found this place as I will likely come again for multiple reasons. We ordered a few appetizers as well as an entree each - everything tasted amazing. The menu has a diverse option for vegetarians, vegans, GF - that itself was awesome!Our server, Azam was one of a kind. He knew so much about taste palette - and checked in on us often. His mannerisms were charming and he made us feel important throughout the entire evening.Good food. Excellent server. Definitely returning again!
