The food was very good but the staff was the highlight.
The bartender Mads was fantastic with all her recommendations. They have a whole broccoli appetizer which is very unique, it's a must try. But the staff here are all so polite and considerate to the guests. They will give you the right of way when walking around and are just so friendly. I'm sure they are trained in doing so and I give the credit to management for doing so . I can't wait to go back.

Really disappointed in cost of food items and their portions. The food taste was unique and all the dishes were balanced. My days managing restaurants shoes a cost to price ratio about 40 % for food and about 20% for alcohol. Campfire was 20 and ten. This translates to a really expensive menu where drinks are $16-18. So I have to pay 75 for a decent, but not huge, ribeye ++ A tiny glass of water without ice was brought to the table. Never got refilled. Waitress was reciting welcome lines with little eye contact. Her hair was a mess. Then I started looking at the other waitress staff. Long untrimmed beards and messy hair abound. I will not be back.

We loved campfire! Every cocktail we had was amazing, the staff couldn't have been nicer, and overall great vibes! Will definitely be heading back when we're in town next!

Cool spot to hang out indoors or outdoors and have a nice cold brew. Has a near cabin feel (large cabin). I couldn't rate the food as we didn't eat but the service and beer variations were descent. The bar staff were very attentive and giddy.

Service and Food were outstanding some of the best dishes I've tasted cooked over coals. Even the broccoli was amazing. Decent drink selection and nice ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a lovely experience here for my wife's birthday trip.
Staff were attentive and very welcoming, and had great recommendations for dishes. The ambiance matched the decor and menu, as the tables had small oil lamps and rustic plates and cutlery. Cocktails (sugarloaf and flamekeeper) were flavorful and balanced, and the charcoal butter bread was a great appetizer. Broccoli was must, as it was charred with a vinaigrette, topped with roasted peanuts, and came with a side of chermoula for dipping. For entrees, we split the brisket and chicken. Both had delicious fire roasted flavors, and the polenta that came with the brisket was a standout. To top it all off, they brought my wife out a homemade oatmeal creampie for her birthday alongside our cheesecake. Will definitely come back to try another seasonal menu!

I love this restaurant and try to go every time I'm in the area. It's a serious kitchen with a not serious staff and I love that. I always feel welcome, cared for and the food is amazing!

The food was fresh, tasty and cleaver! What is cleaver about the food is that every menu item uses fire in some way to create the dish. Kudos chef! I feel very lucky that I was able to reserve the outdoor table inside a tent for my spouse and a visiting friend about 1.5-2 years ago. Unfortunately, this table is no longer available. So..., how lucky was I to experience the table inside the tent before it was no longer available. The restaurant is vibrant, lively, (i.e. happening) and abuzz with activity. Because of the excitement at this restaurant, the noise level is loud. So..., do not plan on having a quiet, intimate dinner with friends. Would I recommend this restaurant to tourists and locals? ABSOLUTELY!!

Wow. This place we found on yelp. We wanted some seafood and we got it! First off, they acknowledge what you're celebrating when you make a reservation. We got a handmade card and complimentary wine or champagne. For appetizers we got the oysters and king prawns. Oysters were delicious! My bf loved the King Prawns. Had a little kick from the aji Amarillo but I also loved it! Then I had the halibut market fish and the sauce and the little puffed things were so good. Loved the texture! So light and flaky. My bf loved the October. The meal itself was so cohesive! And for dessert the Vasco Cheesecake! YUM. Perfect size! Just wish there was more berries to go with every bite but overall amazing. A little gem. The ambiance was so unique. Gathering around the campfire is such an adorable concept. We sat outside but had heater above us so I was comfortable. Our waitress Lola was so attentive and fast. Very detail oriented and lovely throughout our meal. Thank you! We'll come back soon!

Campfire is definitely a place for foodies and those appreciating creative cuisine in a rustic, hip ambiance. The roasted cabbage was unique and tasty, as was the oyster mushroom cavatelli. Service was impeccable. We didn't have dessert, but they did have S'mores on the menu!

Be the first to ReplyWe came here on a Sunday evening for a birthday dinner
We came here on a Sunday evening for a birthday dinner celebration (reservations were made), as the birthday boy had Campfire on his bucket list of local restaurants. There were 5 adults, a toddler and an infant. We sat outdoors, at our request. Our hostess, at her suggestion, brought an elevated rack (no idea what it is actually called) for the infant car seat carrier, which was a nice touch to start with. We ordered drinks from their menu, which were tasty (Kentucky Crest - yum) and they came out in a decent amount of time.Several appetizers were ordered for the table with the highlight of those being the grilled oysters, Burrata and olives. The skewered quail was okay, but just tasted like any old bird to me. I was not a fan of the crispy broccoli, but the others loved it (I preferred a sample from my granddaughter's kids plate, which I think was just sauteed in butter - lol). I wanted, for my entree, their octopus, but they were out of it apparently. I then opted for the Cavatelli offering. Two selected the fish of the day (local Corbina), one the brisket and the other the Cavatelli as well. My Cvatelli tasted very good, but it wasn't great. I should have ordered the fish or brisket, as I sampled those and liked them very much. Maybe next time. The birthday boy did receive a signed card from the staff, which I thought was a nice touch. He shared a 2 piece S'more plate with my granddaughter and the unique presentation and fresh ingredients, with house made marshmallow squares and gourmet chocolate, was quite an experience for the two of them. The service overall was fantastic, with several employees getting into the mix along with our primary server (Cynthia). Each one of them was able to explain what they were bringing out to the table. Our drinks, including water glasses, never ran dry. This place is on the pricey side, but we got what we paid for - great service, great food and great time.

We were looking for kid-friendly restaurants in the Carlsbad area and were shocked that the top recommended spot had a Michelin star! But Campfire did not disappoint for our little or for Mom and Dad! The food was phenomenal, our waiter Kaden and ALL the rest of the staff spoke so kindly to our daughter and included her in the dinner. And the s'mores at the end were off the chart. We will absolutely be back!
Be the first to ReplyCongratulations to the entire team at Campfire.
The restaurant had a fantastic energy, and ambiance. Service was friendly and accommodating. Everybody we had an interaction with was great. The food was very different, flavorful, fresh, and had a beautiful presentation. The wine list was short but I think it is more efficient that way. The sommelier was great! Overall it was fantastic birthday celebration for my wife. We will come back for sure.

We read really great reviews of this place and were really excited to try it out - however there were a few things that let us down. The ambiance was nice and it had a lovely indoor/outdoor vibe with lots of heaters around. We had a reservation for 7:15pm but the table wasn't ready and we had to wait outside for another 15 minutes. The service was quite slow - it was an hour after we were sat and we hadn't gotten our appetizers yet. The food was pretty pricey and unfortunately quite salty. The burrata starter had not very much burrata and there were salt pieces on the vegetables. The star of the show was the broccoli which was their highly recommended dish and we did enjoy this. However most of the other dishes were on the salty side and not outstanding. The entrees were decent and we enjoyed the daily catch of the day. All in all, we had an enjoyable time but it was not as good as I had hoped it would be! They had a nice touch by giving us a dessert with a candle with a signed card for a birthday celebration.

You really shouldn't be burping the Chared Broccoli 12 hrs later. The Drinks were full of ice in Avery short glass. So 4 sips The weird squash had some good flavors in a couple bites. You put such a small amount of the flavors/toppings you can't get the same taste twice. Your Octopus plate was the same. You had some Blood orange that was a tea good 2 bites worth then a dab of beans luckily there was only 3 pieces of Octopus. Oysters were ok. Different but only one kind of oysters you should serve raw too. Only cooked one style. Charbroil some with butter n Parmesan cheese you have the char broiler use it!!! Sorry just not for us still burping!!! 12 hrs later.

Second time here and I'm finally getting around to leave a well deserved review. Food 5/5, cocktails 5/5, service 5/5, and ambiance 5/5. The broccoli and porridge bread are a must have. The broccoli has an unforgettable flavor and the porridge bread paired with the smooth butter is so delicious! Worth the price!

Our server was amazing and the food was some of the greatest food we've had. We ate like family style and ordered a lot to share! The restaurant felt like a "glamping" theme and was so cozy and nice. It was fun as the head chef would speak with the other chefs and you could see into the kitchen! For appetizers we got 1- Rillette which was absolutely AMAZING. I think this was my favorite part of the meal. (No picture :()2-wagyu skewers which were also really good. We got them med rare! This is ordered per person 3- porridge bread which comes in small pieces, but still really really good! The butter was the best part of this! 4- Treviso which was okay, wasn't bad or anything, we just didn't taste much of the burrata and wasn't a table favorite. 5- broccoli, which when I tell you I've never had better tasting broccoli in my life, I MEAN IT WAS THE BEST BROCCOLI I've ever had in my life. We continue to talk about this! For entree- 1- ribeye which we got med rare and was sooooooo good. We could have gotten just this as 4 of us ate it and we still had leftover! 2- lobster was pretty good. 3- octopus was kind of dry, not our cup of tea but was okay. Dessert1-The s'mores were amazing, the fun of doing it and the chocolate and marshmallow homemade. This just made the entire experience "camp" and fun!! It does take a little while to get the marshmallows brown if that's what you like. 2- The cheesecake was alright! This is now my favorite restaurant!!!

Thank you to my friend for taking me here, to Campfire. It is my new favorite restaurant in San Diego County.Prior to my visit a couple weekends back, I did not do any research at all. I did not know it has been recognized by the Michelin guide. I had heard about it and thought it was yet another trendy restaurant that would rely a lot on the ambiance and kitchiness of campsite decor, one of those places cheapened out by TikTok. I am so glad I was completely mistaken. I can tell the chefs who curated the menu for this restaurant put a lot of love and work into it, along with the staff who show so much passion for the dishes and service they deliver. Item highlights (but every single thing I ordered and saw come out was SO good):- Porridge bread, unexpectedly good. I don't normally like bread at restaurants but I practically inhaled these- Oyster (two or four), dare I say these are the best oysters I've had in my life!?!?- Charred broccoli, I don't even care for broccoli but I feel like I can eat this plate in particular for the rest of my life- Tuna crudo, so freakin good- Brisket, the way the meat fell so perfectly without being under or overcooked...I've been thinking about this brisket since the night I visited- S'mores for dessert, obviously you can make s'mores for cheap at home or when camping but the presentation and concept was intriguing and delightful. The graham crackers were PERFECT. The marshmallows amusingly reminded me of blocks of tofuMy companions at this time also ordered the ribeye, flatbread, lobster, and wagyu skewer. These were also delicious, but I had to list my favorites and can't say I liked everything for credibility's sake. You can dine either inside or outside. I saw a table sitting as many as eight people inside. They're open for dinner. Make a reservation early to ensure you get a spot here. The dress code appears to be more dressy casual, but I feel like that's the norm for even really nice restaurants in San Diego. The commuter lot for Carlsbad is right behind the restaurant, so it is super easy to find parking without having to walk super far to the restaurant. The ambiance is amazing. The thought and detail into every piece of furniture, silverware, and plating really contribute to the campfire theme without making it seem dingy and dirty like I usually do while camping. I can't wait to visit again.
