We had a not-so-great experience at the Canoe House, which sucked because we were really looking forward to it as our last vacation dinner. We had a 5:30p reservation so the sun was still pretty high in the sky when we got the restaurant. Even though other tables were available, the hostess chose to sit us in the one part of the restaurant that had zero sun coverage from the buildings overhang or the palm trees on the beach. This extended patio had only one other guest on it, so the restaurant clearly knew it was not a great time to be sitting guests in this section. It was so bad the waiter brought us rain umbrellas to hold over ourselves to avoid the direct sun which would be with us for the entire meal. Server was great. Explained the menu, took drink orders while we talked about what to order. We selected a few appetizers first and then found out the one entree we all wanted to order (clams) was no longer available. Bummer. We put in our appy order and asked for more time to make entree decisions. While we debated our entree selections, we suddenly get surprised by a loud wedding DJ who is apparently hosting a reception on the beach right behind our table. Why a resort this "fancy" would think it is a good idea to put a beach wedding right next to their very expensive high-end restaurant is beyond me. But it was the last straw, final strike, for my family. We told the server to bring us what had already been ordered and the check so we could leave. The appys we ate were delicious but the circumstances of the dining experience was too frustrating for us to really enjoy a meal. Especially a very expensive meal. We left and went to Lava Lava and had a very nice end of vacation beach dinner without these frustrations. I don't know if we would return to Canoe House on our next trip. If we do, it will be for a later dinner.

The bread, the service, the view, every morsel of every dish ... amazing. We will be back. Hefty price tag, but worth it.

Day 2 bar empty., 3 staff on, took 15 mins for then to notice my drink was empty. To busy flirting with the only yank guy in the bar. Philippine chick's looking for a husband. My God, it's sad to watch. I just want a drink
Valet parking at the entrance ( 3 hrs of stay is adjusted
Valet parking at the entrance ( 3 hrs of stay is adjusted for and the ticket that the valet gives you is stamped at the restaurant checkin). From there you go down the stairs and make a right , walk a few steps and you would get to the beautiful Canoe House. The setting is absolutely delightful as you walk through the Auberge Mauna Lani corridors to the restaurant that's set with the Ocean in the backdrop. Big big shoutout to Ashley who was our host for the evening and boy she made sure we had all our questions answered , gave great suggestions and as well told us about all they had to offer. She was kind enough to make the walk twice to the kitchen to ensure if the Wagyu was Halal ( turned out they didn't have Halal Wagyu though it's from The Miyazaki Prefecture if that's what you like). Much appreciate the effort Ashley. Do ask for Ashley to be your host :) , while you are being seated, at the checkin. We ordered the Grilled Whole Keahole Lobster, Alaskan King crab leg , Radish salad with crispy salmon skin, a couple Oysters and Poke style Sashimi with Tuna as our choice of fish. The Salad was delicious and was a generous amount of serving that lasted us till the end. The Alaskan King crab leg was delicious and we were this close in ordering another one for the table. An absolute delight produced by Chef and co. The whole lobster comes with finger lime ( considered the caviar of limes) and you really get to enjoy the combination. As you squish the lime it spits out small boba like balls that constitute the slice and adds some amazing flavor to the lobster. No fighting with the shells as Ashley would say, since the kitchen does all the hard work for you by pulling out the meat, casting their magic spell on it and then carefully placing it back in the shell ( applies for the king crab leg as well). Guaranteed delicious!! The Sashimi and the oysters were done to perfection as well and we took no time getting through those on our way to the crab leg and lobster. We ended our dinner with a coffee along with Panacotta with Honey ( spread in a honeycomb fashion ) and some shortbread. Also got ourselves an Ube cheesecake. Delicious and the combination just worked wonders. Definitely recommend those. All in all a phenomenal experience that we hope and wish to repeat on every trip that we make to the Big Island. Amazing hospitality, phenomenal food, great views, amazing setting with the Ocean in the backdrop enough reasons for you to stop by for a great dinner/date night.

The CanoeHouse is one of our favorite places to dine, if not our most favorite at the Big Island. We visit the island every other year and The CanoeHouse is always in our itinerary. Today July 4, 2024, we had our most anticipated dinner 5:15. Everything was fine and almost perfect. I said ALMOST because we had a NOT so pleasant start. There were three receptionists when we got there. The main receptionist was RUDE, UNFRIENDLY and UNRECEPTIVE. (I did not get their names except for Lea and it was NOT Lea). I wish to NOT be greeted by her next time we visit. Aside from that, I would like to commend Dustin, our server and Godfrey for an exceptional service. Food was great, ambience is superb, view is fantastic. I'm giving it a 4 star as I think a better training on all staff should be improved.
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had at this price point
One of the absolute worst dining experiences I have ever experienced. We were staying near by at a luxury 5 star resort and didn’t pay nearly as much as we did at canoe house. Decided on the chef’s course and received absolute dog sh*t. Cold cream based soup that was solidified over with over toasted french toast and caviar. A mediocre herb salad, no salt ahi tuna and abalone. The short rib was the best thing but also something I could’ve made at home - they provided 3 inch full stalk green onions which is insane to get a mouthful of onion to provide acidity against the rust short rib. Both of our chef table meals were $180/each for one of the worst meals I’ve ever had at that price point. We at staying at the four seasons and meals are better and cheaper. What a scam. Manager should replace the chef and reorient his prices so it doesn’t go into his pocket - his waitstaff and bussers (who are phenomenal) should not have to suffer due to his poor decisions. Pete (the resort GM) should look into caring about the quality of his overpriced sh*t food and his employees rather than caring about what goes into his own pocket. I’ve never felt more ripped off - go to local restaurants in Kona like Seijis sushi or Umekes and support local businesses vs this money squeezing fraud….
I was excited to have a nice sunset dinner.
I open the menu and am surprised by the prices but it's whatever. We decide to get the tasting menu because it seems like a good bank for your buck. They earned two stars for the waitress and the sunset. The food was mediocre, overpriced, and small portioned. They forgot one of our courses and we had to tell them. The people who brought out the food seemed inexperienced. The fried rice was not worth $30 I can get something from Panda Express for way less. The salad tasted like chalk. The caviar didn't fit with the soup. The bread was toast that can come from my pantry. I was utterly disgusted and won't be coming back. Please eat at fairmont for less price and more food or just go to foodland. Get poke bowls and watch sunsets from the beach! The ribs were served with a piece of lettuce and tomato. The dessert was better then I thought but still not wort

The food was excellent, and that's why I'm giving this 4 stars. The portions were very small so know that going in...3 scallops for $65 and they weren't even jumbo. Service was not highly attentive but if you like great food, this is a winner.

Food was not good enough ,they serve me pieces of fat vs meat. Fish tacos not so good either. Everything is charged extra. Bowl of soup size good for a child . To expensive for the Food you get served.
This is an interesting one.
Let's start with the good - the venue is nothing short of fantastic. Beautiful sunset views, clean restaurant, nice furniture, even a nice walk in from the valet parking (don't forget to validate!). For the kids, there is a large grassy area and beach right next to your table. Just a truly stunning place to have a restaurant. Our service was great (if a bit slow, but it was busy), helpful and accommodating. No complaints there. I just can't really recommend CanoeHouse (or see myself coming back) because the food you get is just a terrible value. The food is definitely good, but it is priced like it is world class. The pull apart bread was solid... in a small serving that cost more than 15 dollars. The fish was fine, but absolutely not worth 50 dollars a serving. The potatoes were good, but again, not for 25 bucks (don't even get me started on the 32 dollar fried rice). Our desserts were 16 bucks each and decent but not really sharable portions. Even the kids menu dishes were 20+ dollars. 150 dollars for a 24 ounce steak is absurd. 62 dollars for pork jowls is absurd. 50 dollars for chicken is ridiculous. I get that it is a primo location on a resort island and I might understand the prices if the food were truly elite, but it is not. I think if the prices were half what they currently are, I might have been more excited about my meal, but for this bill, I definitely expected better. Beautiful restaurant though!

I don't think I could come back soon enough! Our dinner
I don't think I could come back soon enough! Our dinner here was a perfect ending to a fantastic family trip to the island. The service was wonderful, the cocktails were unique and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Petal Flip. We enjoyed a few orders of the corn ribs, a favorite of my moms and I can understand why. We had gotten 2 orders and still wanted more! They were perfectly cooked and flavored. We also enjoyed the pull apart bread, which was so warm and soft. The whole meal was delicious. No better spot to be, with a beautiful view of the ocean and sunset, its the perfect place to relax and enjoy a warm evening by the water.

My glass of Cabernet was super expensive, not great wine, it was cold and tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. The salad was not good, however my scallops were decent. This is a very pricey restaurant....the food should be much better for what you pay.
Great sunset
Watched a lovely sunset along with a lovely dinner. Chris, was our server and described details of any dish. We ended up with the radish salad, lobster tempura and curry shrimp entree. The star was really the garlic fried rice. I know, how good could it be? It’s really amazing and fragrant, try it! There is no parking, as most of the resorts do not allow it. You have to valet for this restaurant and they validate up to 3 hours. Make sure you get your ticket stamped at the hostess stand.

Incredible place to watch the sunset.
Food was good but you're really paying for the views. Shokupan pull-apart bread (with extra alaea salt!) and Hokkaido scallop sashimi were our favorites. We were hesitant to order the fried rice but it was highly recommended and did not disappoint. Make reservations and time it to properly enjoy the sunset.
My husband and I are self proclaimed foodies.
We have based trips based on amazing food. The big island is hit or miss with food. However, there are a few which have impeccable food, canoe house is one of them. The view is breathtaking. Perfect for sunset dinners. The price is 100% worth the food. We stated with the traditional poke, wow. Amazing. Mouth watering and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the scallops, my husband the curry. Hands down delicious, we both cleaned out plates. We also shared the garlic fried rice, every last bite was taken. Make reservations before you get there for this place, 100% worth it!
one of the best food in the island accordingly to the local.
it's inside of the hotel , the price is definitely a hotel price. i dont know if that many people would afford it, it's more like a michelin star price. I ordered the crab leg appetizer, it's only one leg for $78. I will give a pass if i knew it was such a small portion even it taste just mediocre. and we had garlic fried rice. Come on, it's $32 for egg scallion fried rice? I dont know if this is a money well spend. if you want to impress or to splurge for just one night, you can give it a try. the food taste good
The CanoeHouse is in a separate building from the hotel and
The CanoeHouse is in a separate building from the hotel and is right on the water with a beautiful view of the sunset if you come for dinner. They validated our parking, as valet parking is all that's available if you drive here and then hostess sat us immediately outside, there is also indoor and bar seating if you don't want to be outside. I don't suggest sitting inside as it feels like there's not even any ac and only ceiling fans keeping the place cool because it is all open and if that's what you want might as well do that outside with a view. We ordered cocktails and sparkling water which came fast and needed for the hot but breezy day at 6 pm. We weren't that hungry so skipped appetizers and went into ordering our entree. We ordered the Colorado lamb chops $78 that has a rosemary vinaigrette on it and accompanied by roasted Kekelo farm veggies. We also ordered the Koji roasted chicken $52 that had two sad pieces of carrots on some greens on the plate so we ordered more Kekela Farm roasted veggies for $18 on the side. The chicken tasted fantastic with that balsamic teriyaki, and the lamb chops were nice sized and tasty too. I love the farm to table concept here and you can taste it in the freshness of the ingredients. Everything was great except being seated outside means having flies. The servers were so attentive that when they saw us swatting our food they brought over a little fan to keep the flies away. We were surrounded by people that were on dates or celebrating a special occasion so there was a lot of positive Aloha in the air and happiness making the sunset even more enjoyable when it hit 7 o'clock. This is definitely a place to come to for a romantic sunset dinner date if you're a tourist or a local.
Disgusting
Food was horrible. Oysters were rancid…they took them yet still charged me for them on my bill. Very disappointed. Not sure where those who ranked it high have eaten before but this was a 2 only because the waited was attentive but still left rancid oysters on my tab.
Very good experience at the canoe house.
The waiter was very good, answered all questions, and kept our waters full. We especially liked Doenna who was the waiters assistant. She was knowledgeable and hilarious. The pull apart bread and the lobster tempura were amazing!
Lost then Found
The Canoe House IS an experience. I’m not a fancy restaurant person and was nervous looking through the menu but our server Jhamur made this a night not to forget. The bread was the best ever and the food was amazing but it was his service and his stories that made this night we won’t forget. Only thing is using Google Maps doesn’t get you there. You must valet. Once inside the hotel, walk down the steps, go towards the right and then walk towards the beach. It’s hard to know it’s the restaurant until you are right there. Cheers!
Not to be Missed!
Canoe House is an exceptional restaurant with delicious food and absolutely stunning views. The staff was personable and attentive. This was by far the best meal we had during our week on the island!
Treated so poorly, we'll never return
Ugh. Last night my husband and I had 7:45 reservations. Food was meh, service worse. After our meal we wanted dessert. A server came and took away our silverware. Then... nothing. No one came back to our table. We had to get up to ask for the check. Tried to talk to manager, but everyone just said, You want dessert? We can get you dessert. Not the point. Were we disappointed. We live on island and stayed at Mauna Lani as a staycay treat, and this Canoehouse experience ruined the whole vibe. Maybe because we're kama'aina (locals) they feel they can treat us poorly. I'll tell you, locals have a lot of clout when it comes to reviews. I intend to use it.
Absolutely a 5-star restaurant!
This is a wonderful restaurant for couples or family. My wife and I dined here with our son and his family. We started out with our favorite Grey Goose vodka martini; very dry, straight up and with a wedge of lime on the rim. Prepared and served just as we like it. We accompanied this with Poke-Style Sashimi...really good. For our main course, we split the 8 oz prime tenderloin (see photo). This was absolutely delicious and prepared rare just as we asked. Wow! Too bad we live in North Carolina...we would go there more often.
The Perfect Place to Celebrate my Birthday!
We had an unforgettable dinner at the CanoeHouse to celebrate my birthday. Ian was our waiter and I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. His dinner suggestions were right on and he never missed a beat in making sure that we were well cared for throughout our dinner. We opted for the tasting menu which was perfect. I made our reservation for an hour before sunset. We were the first table seated, so we had excellent views as the sky turned various shades of blue, pink, orange, purple and finally deep red. It was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday!
Do not get the lobster!
We enjoyed our dinner, except for one very overpriced one claw lobster. For $100, my husband was expecting two claws and a bit of wow. It as cooked just fine, but not worth the money. I ordered the lamb chops and they were great, four nice perfectly cooked chops. We should have split them and ordered a side dish. Mind you, we mentioned we both hate beets and the side dish with the lamb has beets! They were easy to pick out. We did share the deep fried mushrooms that were very good and I had four oysters. I love oysters, but $7 each, overpriced, but they were very good. Lol - I forget what he order, but he did like it. Wine list very overpriced, but we found a cab franc that 2.5 the retail price. We have been here a couple of times 15 years ago and this place was a solid 5 and a wow. Not so much these days.
Fancy with a view.
Yes, the tasting menu and wines will set you back $300/person, but this is the idea behind such a meal. Very unique and novel courses. Yes, a single entree and a glass of wine gets you the view and experience, too, for a more normal “$plurge.” Oh, go to get the full sunset view, which is early for this month.
Expensive but worth it
This is our favorite restaurant on the Islands . I recommend making a reservation an hour before sunset. Be prepared for an amazing view with great service. We started with their signature bread. This year we had Indie as our server and she gave us plenty of time to relax and enjoy the meal and the view. She made great recommendations. I had the Ono with macadamian crusted King crab . My wife had the catch of the day . We had a nice bottle of wine and pleasant conversation with Indie . We will book a month before return next year .

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ

Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
